Description of Work: Pierpoint installed a new tile shower w/glass door in the master bath. They also replaced faucets in the master bath and installed a utility sink in the laundry room. Very high quality of work. The job took much longer than I anticipated. But they worked hard. The only delay was a huge snow storm which they obviously had no control over. The stayed within the estimate.

The service provided was great. They finished one job last week and they still need to hang some gutters. They are fantastic and they cleaned up after themselves. They'll make sure that the job is right. They are a topnotch company. Maybe just a little bit overpriced but I know it's quality work.

It went great! The 6 recessed lights, and ceiling fan electricals were installed in 3 hours. By the end of the day, the ceiling fan and switch were installed and the first coat of sheet rock patching was complete. The next day, the second coat of skim coat was complete and the painter painted the entire ceiling in both the kitchen/living room and office. He didn't just paint the patches--he painted the whole ceiling. After completing that, John took 2 days to investigate 2 leaks around a door and window. Upon opening the wall, John discovered there was nothing between the siding and the interior sheet rock and trim. Poor construction by our tract homebuilder caused leaking and condensation, creating water damage. John repaired both areas with extensive caulking and insulation. This is our second time using Pierpoint Construction for our remodeling and home repairs. The crews are always ahead of schedule, polite, and experts in what they do. They will always propose the proper way to fix something and will never take shortcuts. I think most of these folks have been doing their specialty for at least 15 years. I was caught off guard on how fast they were and I had to hurry up and buy the ceiling fan because they were ready to install it within 3 hours on the first day. You get what you pay for, and Pierpoint Construction is well worth the cost in time saved and absolute quality of materials and workmanship. They are our go-to construction firm.
Description of Work: Removed existing fluorecent lighting (which left a ton of holes in the ceiling) and installed 6 recessed lights in the kitchen on a dimmer switch. Installed ceiling fan in office including electrical box and switch. Patched and painted sheetrock holes. Investigated two leaks around a window and door--discovered poor caulking and insulations which they remedied. Crew was John (foreman), John (electrician), and Jaime (painter)

It was pretty good. Todd came out really quickly, looked at my project and quoted us but he was a little bit slow in getting my quote back to me but it was because he went on vacation right after. He quoted about $35000, his prices were about five percent higher than other quotes I had received, but it was in the ballpark, so his prices were fine as well. He seemed very professional. I didn’t choose to have any work done by him yet but the experience was fine, Todd was good. He was very easy to get in touch with. He was very prompt to come look at my work and the quote was very easy to understand and reasonable. I would definitely consider bringing him in again, probably for a second quote.
Description of Work: I got a quote from Pierpoint Construction on basement renovation. They quoted a bathroom, an exterior sunroom and a main living room area with a fireplace insert.

We have used Pierpoint on several occasions. In 2002 they built me a free-standing 16' X 12' workshop. It was unfinished inside, but totally finished outside with four windows for plenty of light, vinyl siding, shingled roof, exterior light over the door and ramp up to the fiberglass door. The shop was elevated on 6" X 6" piers. Inside they installed a 50 amp electrical panel with a lot of outlets for power tools and two outlets in the ceiling for fluorescent lights. The plywood floor was 3/4 inch. They ran underground wiring from the 200 amp electrical panel in the garage approximately 25' to the shop. They installed a switch inside the garage to turn on the overhead exterior light on the shop. All of this was done for $7725. On this job, we were preparing a living space in the basement, to include the garage, for my mother-in-law and her two dogs. We had already turned part of the basement into a bedroom. We already had a bathroom in the basement. We hired Pierpoint to turn the garage into a sitting area. We were going to heat and cool the garage with portable appliances. The door from the garage to the extended fenced-in backyard gave my mother-in-law easy access to let her dogs outside. The cable outlet allowed her to watch TV in the garage. Pierpoint has always been a pleasure to work with. Kim and her husband, whose name I can't remember right now, are good people.
Description of Work: Cut block and brick outside wall into garage and installed 3' fiberglass six-panel door. Outside the door installed a 3' X 3' concrete pad. Installed a light on outside wall beside door. Extended privacy fencing approximately 26' from the back of the house to the front of the house, with a new arched gate enclosing the new door. Inside the garage added a switch for the outside light and two electrical outlets. Installed a cable TV outlet from an inside bedroom to the garage.

We hired Pierpoint Construction to finish our basement, which resulted in approximately 1,500 sq. ft of finished living space. The finished area included a main room with a gas fireplace with a stone surround, two smaller rooms (bedroom/study), a bar area, and a full tiled bath room. The project also included adding cabinets in our laundry room that match our kitchen cabinets. We had a good idea of the design we wanted, but on the initial consultation Todd listened our ideas and then gave us tips that improved the basement design. During the build out, the shower placement turned out to have some complications. Todd suggested that we rotate and enlarge our shower to better use the space. His suggestion greatly improved the bathroom layout and did not change our cost. Todd, the Pierpoint crew, and their contractors are excellent craftsmen. In addition to doing an excellent job, they also cleaned up the job site every night and were very respectful of our home. At the time, we were living in the home and had small children, so having a safe and clean work area (after hours) and not having debris tracked through the house made the process very pleasant. We were (and are still) very pleased with the job completed by Pierpoint Construction. We would hire them again and recommend them every chance we get. We have not undertaken any large remodeling jobs, since we completed our basement. But we have called on Pierpoint Construction for routine maintenance, and have been very pleased with the way Pierpoint Construction handled our routine maintenance.
Description of Work: Construction and design work for the completion of an unfinished basement, including installing walls and insulation, electrical services (power, cable, telephone), gas services, plumbing services, gas fireplace with stone work, concrete work to relocate plumbing fixtures, tile work, full tile bath room, bar area, and cabinet installation.

The initial meeting was very professional. It took quite some time to get a quote and the quote was not complete. My inquiry as to the rest of the quote took weeks for them to respond and the response did not provide a quote on the remaining work. The price was higher than another quote I received and not very detailed. In comparison to another contractor, they were higher priced and less responsive.

They did an excellent job. I could have gone with someone else and gotten a better price, but because of the work they where doing i would rather pay more and know that I'm getting quality work then have issues down the road. My only complaint is that we where on a very short deadline to have this work completed so we could close on the house, and we had informed them about that. We missed the lockout by one day and had to pay a fine of $450 (out of pocket) to extent the lockout. Pierpoint had pulled their guys away a few days before for the entire day to be on another project.
Description of Work: We had them replace... - Front Door - Exterior Basement Door - Back Sliding Door - Some Drywall - New Gutters - Replaced Facia Boards - Replaced Soffits - Replaced Alot Of Siding It took them about two weeks to finish the work.
Each time we have used Pierpoint, The process has generally gone smoothly. We start with a list of things we want done, and an expected budget. Todd used to use an estimator, who went through the list and came up with a price. Todd uses a team of subcontractors for specialized work, and he and his team do all the scheduling and coordination, along with things like carpentry, handyman, and clean-up work. These guys have worked together for years, and everyone knows who does what when. Todd works with the subcontractors and us to develop a schedule. The subcontractors are all top-notch, and everyone works together well. Tod has also been able to work subcontractors of our choosing into the mix. He has also made suggestions after starting the work to provide something better, and since these things have been reasonable and affordable, we've agreed every time. Weakness: Sometimes things do slip through the cracks. The estimator a few jobs ago lost our list, and a few things weren't in the contract. We thought the price was low, but didn't remember some things that should have been in the contract until the work had started. (He has since retired, and Todd has been doing this lately.) Also, some non-obvious problems have shone up after the work was completed, and Todd has fixed them. Weakness: Style and Taste, my wife's big area. She usually knows roughly what she wants, but doesn't know what can be done. Todd's team can be short in the imagination area, so the better you can describe what you want, the easier it is to get it done. We now know how to ask for what we want. (My wife wanted the fireplace done in a "flowing motion" granite - imagine a non-granite person trying to price out what she wanted!) We are already working on the next list of jobs we want Todd to do for us.
Description of Work: We have used Pierpoint Construction several times over the last eight years. First was a Kitchen remodel, ~$42,000, in 2004. New cabinets (with interior lighting), granite counter tops, hardwood flooring, exterior door to screened-in porch, porch fan and outlets, finished basement stairwell, and a few odds and ends. In 2007, ~$102,000, we had the house refreshed and added a garage with cellar underneath. Siding (vinyl and stone), roofing, gutters, concrete driveway and sidewalks, front exterior door with sidelights, and a few other items. In 2009, ~$11,000, Todd replaced our floor to ceiling brick country fireplace with raised hearth with a modern granite-faced one. The first floor was also completed with hardwood flooring and crown moldings. As always, there were again a few odds and ends done. This past summer we had a bunch of small jobs done (~$8,000). Upstairs, new carpet, new chandelier in the stairwell, crown molding, and ceiling repairs (from putting my foot through). There was also lighting under the deck/porch, basement lighting, and underground power to the shed.

I contacted references prior to interview/site inspection - all reference were very happy with contractor, but none of them had any insurance work done. Interview was favorable except the contractor did verify that he does not do much if any insurance work. The real problem was the inspection of the damage and his repair strategy. First of all, despite the fact that his office insisted that I provide them a copy of the insurance company estimate ? he had not even looked at it prior to the appointment. He had not read the detailed engineers report that outline the corrective action needed. His suggested approach to repair the damage did not follow the engineer?s recommendation. Needless to say I did not have this contractor provide an estimate. Based on his references, he does great work for remodeling where he is in control of all aspects of the job. Would not recommend for insurance work were he would be required to work with the insurance company / engineers in meeting recommended repair strategies.
Description of Work: I was looking for a contractor that could repair the damage to my house that occurred when a tree fell on it. Repairs included roofing, truss, siding, dry wall repair, and painting. I was looking for someone who had the necessary experience to complete a complicated repair, has experience working with insurance companies, and had references that could verify the work quality and insurance experience.

Description of Work: Pierpoint construction came to our home to give us a free estimate and never gave us an estimate. This company is great! I recommend them to anyone needing remodeling. Todd was very easy to deal with from the estimate to completion. He also advised us on options that ended up saving money. He did not have to do this, because the ideas were ours and could be built, but he pointed out how we could seek alternatives and save cash. The company was punctual every day for the month they were at our house -- so were the subs! They placed drop cloths on the floors and cleaned up after themselves every day. Since we were in the house with them, we very much appreciated that they were respectful to our family and did not use any inappropriate language or play loud music. The company kept us updated every week on potential issues and developments. Chip, our team leader, is fantastic. A very knowlegable and professional man. The entire company is hard-working. I will definately use them again for our next project.

The job was done beautifully and quickly! Todd gave the estimate and even shared ways we could stay within budget! He is up front that he does the job right and has quality employees and subs that he pays appropriately. They are best value. If you went with the absolute cheapest guy out there, you'd have to call Todd after the fact and get it fixed. The foreman, Chip was very knowledgable and friendly--you could tell that he's worked there for a while and took great pride in the work and the cleanup. Chip also found out a way to run water pipes without breaking into sheet rock! It involved him shimmying himself behind our furnace. Awesome! These guys were all about quality and getting the job done right! We are preparing to use them again for some exterior work on the house!

Pierpoint Construction does remarkable work! Our house was a definite fixer upper and the work they did was outstanding and also at a very reasonable price. Our bathrooms are the envy of the entire neighborhood and even after selecting some higher quality fixtures and materials, the price was outstanding. Pierpoint's carpenters were top notch and really had to deal with some tough angles in our house but in the end they made everything fit nice and neat. Their attention to detail was also excellent, Todd Pierpoint is truly a perfectionist who pays attention to every little detail. Most impressive however, is the way Pierpoint construction warranties their work. After our renovations were finished we uncovered a completely unforseen plumbing issue which required a fair amount of work to remedy. Pierpoint construction performed all the work under warranty, in a timely manner and minimized the mess generated by having to cut into walls to replace pipes. The plumbing problems were in no way related to their original work but a result of unforseeable and freakish expansion of ABS piping which was original to the house and not installed by Pierpoint.
Description of Work: Pierpoint construction remodeled three full bathrooms, a complete basement, a master bedroom and also installed new wiring for broadband, telephone, cable throughout our house. They also performed masonry work on a chimney in desperate need of repair. During the remodeling of our house, Todd Pierpoint was also instrumental in pointing out and remedying some other issues with our house including water and termite damage. Since we bought our house as a foreclosure, we expected some extra costs from deferred maintenance on the property and Todd Pierpoint was a tremendous help in assuring our house was safe and comfortable to live in.

We are very pleased with the workmanship. A two-to-three man crew worked for five days. Two men did most of the work with a separate electrician and separate point man on the brick clean-up. All of the work looks good and the clean-up was quite good (although this is always a sore spot for me). They were going to use the existing 42" gate that was part of an 8-foot section, but I changed my mind and asked them to make it from new materials as well to match the nice-looking new fence sections. Todd suggested I do the fence in cedar instead of pressure-treated since it's lighter (won't sag) and more durable. I gladly excepted the cedar idea. Additional cost: $300. We have used Pierpoint in the past to create a bedroom in an unfinished part of our basement (now mother-in-law's bedroom) and build my 12'-by-16' workshop. I recommend them heartily. They do good work and their price is always right.
Description of Work: Pierpoint was chosen to do our work after receiving three estimates. They came in low, and we had used them before with satisfaction. We are turning our unfinished, one-car garage into a living space for my mother-in-law. She is bringing her two dogs, who cannot mix with our three cats. She has a bedroom in our finished basement and a separate bath. A door outside her bedroom leads to the garage. Pierpoint was contracted to cut a door in the outside wall of the garage leading into the yard. They also extended the fence and gate about 30 feet from the back of the house to the front so that the dogs would be inside the fence when she lets them out the door. They installed a light outside the door, a switch inside, a two-by-three foot concrete pad, three outlets along the walls, and a cable outlet.
