Valor Mold Removal

My first consultation with the company was very professional and the explanation of the job was great. After the proposal was submitted and a appointment was made, the team came in with all of there equipment ready to get the job done. All precautions were taken to keep the mold within the area of the job. I was then told to leave. When the job was completed I walked into the garage and was totally amazed at how clean everything was and the smell of mold was gone.

Valor was very helpful in planning the work. They suggested alternatives that could minimize costs and minimize the impact to myself and my dog, enabling us to stay in the house while the work was being done. I gave the keys to the house and the storage container to the Valor team lead so they could perform the work without my presence in case I needed to leave the house for some reason. When I couldn't find anyone willing to help me remove the contents of the basement prior to the work, Valor performed that additional service on relatively short notice. I supervised the removal of the contents and worked with Valor employees to determine what should be discarded and what could be salvaged. There were some mistakes made in this process, but they weren't unreasonable given the time constraints of the project and the time I had to spend away from the house filing permits with the county. The mold remediation began as soon as the basement contents had been removed. Since the Valor team had the house keys, I was able to report to work while they were treating my house. They usually arrived between 8:00 and 9:00 AM, so I was able to discuss progress with them before leaving for work. I gave them my work phone number in case they needed to reach me for any reason. As the work progressed, Valor discovered a water problem that the previous home owners had hidden. That made the effort more extensive than we had expected. In spite of the additional work, the remediation was completed in 5 days including the time spent removing the basement contents. There were only a few problems encountered during the effort. Because of the structures that had to be removed, there was no place to mount the FIOS phone equipment. Also, the Valor team had to unplug the FIOS equipment to power the tools they needed and they forgot to plug-in the equipment when they left for the day; so I had a temporary FIOS outage until they returned in the morning. Another problem was that the team mistakenly turned off the master water valve to the house, thinking it was the shut-off to the outdoor faucet. When I discovered the problem at 10:30 PM, I called Valor to see if it was safe for me to enter the containment area and turn the water on. They offered to come to my house that night to correct the problem, but I decided that wasn't necessary because they arrive early enough in the morning that I could still shower and dress for work, and a gallon of water from the all-night grocery store could provide my water needs until they arrived. Finally, some of the electrical outlets were damaged during the remediation. I didn't consider any of these to be major problems given the extent of the work that was needed and the remodeling that would be required after the remediation. After the mold remediation was complete, I had an independent mold tester confirm that the remediation was complete. He had tested remediations performed by Valor before, and was confident that he wouldn't find any problems, and the test results confirmed that the remediation was successful. The tester I used was one of a few recommended by Valor. However, I checked Angie's List for recommended mold testers, and a neighbor who is an environmental engineer gave me some recommendations. As I checked out those recommendations the same name kept appearing, so that's who I used. After the basement was refinished, I cleaned that contents that were in storage and returned them to the basement. Valor would have performed that work, but I felt i could do it myself with their guidance. I e-mailed them a few times for advise on cleaning the contents, and they provided me with timely advise. In some cases, I suggested variations on their recommended cleaning methods. In particular, one cleaning method call for vacuuming certain items. They suggested renting a true HEPA vacuum, or a vacuum that I could dispose after the work was done. I had a home vacuum with HEPA filters, but it wasn't a true HEPA vacuum. I suggested using it to vacuum the contents, discarding the HEPA filters, and using a damp wipe down method to clean the vacuum before installing new HEPA filters. David thought that was a good idea to avoid discarding a good vacuum. I was very pleased with the service Valor provided.

Valor Mold Removal was able to access and initiate the task promptly and performed according to schedule. It took them two days to do the job, which involved setting up the air containment system, removing material with embedded mold, cleaning non-permeable surfaces, and taking down the containment system. They also helped us remove and donate excess of old clothes we had accumulated in that area. They also shored up a non weight-bearing wall weakened by removing its moldy ground support. One mistake they made was to take off some wall paint when they removed the plastic they had used to seal the area. I feel that they did a good and through job. In general and would recommend them to others with mold in their basements.

The president of the company (David) came to our home and spent a half hour with me assessing the situation and explaining the process and pros and cons of mold remediation. Based on that discussion and his honest appraisal we decided it was not urgent to move forward. If/when we do, Valor will be the first company we reach out to.

While Valor was not the cheapest estimate I received, they were the company that I felt the most comfortable with. I appreciate Valor's approach to mold remediation as they actually remove the mold with their hepa vacuuming and soda blasting rather than painting over existing mold spores with anti-mold paint. They set up a containment area and covered my large couch with plastic (after they had vacuumed it) and took care to keep my home clean while they did their work. When they were done my basement looked, smelled, and felt clean! Again, not the cheapest company but you get what you pay for.

After receiving several estimates, we decided to go with Valor. Although much more expensive, that others, their approach was also much more comprehensive. They built an airtight blind before beginning the removal of the damaged wood and sheetrock. They hepavaced the whole area, venting the possibly mold laden air out a window though a pipe. They then treated the whole area and washed down every inch of pipe,water treatment system, or anything in the area that would have come in contact with the disturbed spores. The only hiccup came at the end, when left with the nasty stain that had seeped into the concrete they suggested painting over with a paint they had on hand. While white, it seemed better than looking at the stain. The paint however, was put on over wet. By the next morning we had a brown bubbled up mess where the paint had not stuck and blistered. It took several attempt to get it up before, we brough in a fan to thoroughly dry the area and later applied kilz and painted the floor to match the rest. They do not do any rebuilding but did give an estimate for a sister company that was outrageous. It was literally 5 times more than that company that finally completed the work.

I found the response from this company focused only on money with little interest in doing a good job.

We choose Valor because of their high rating and there overall approach to remediating mold. They took time to explain the process and outline the differences between what they do and what the competitors do. They were able to accommodate our request for immediate assistance. They were flexible when issues arise (basement needed to dry out during the middle of the remediation) and were great at working within our schedule. Valor was very responsive in regards to communication. Responses were quick whether by text or email. Valor provided progress recaps at the end of every work day and provided referrals for work that needed to be done but was not covered by them. Every referral excellent and consistent with the level of professionalism we experienced with Valor.

I have never written a review before, but felt compelled to share my positive experience with Valor ?not the cheapest mold remediation company I found, but certainly the most well-informed and professional. The doctor treating my mold-related health issues told me what to look for in a contractor. Valor met all the criteria ? from setting up containment to the ?HEPA sandwich? or ?immaculate clean? regimen. The owner (David) actually asked if I?d been tested for Lyme disease because of the relation between mold reaction and Lyme. Incredible, since the medical community itself is only just now documenting that relationship. (Even my doctor was impressed by this). In fact, post-Lyme mold syndrome was exactly my issue! Valor quickly scheduled an appointment, spotted the mold hot spots, provided multiple remediation options/price points, and even offered financing. David patiently answered my many questions and really helped educate me. I respect that Valor provides full protective gear for their staff, carries all the right kinds of insurance, engages in extensive continuing education in their field, and that they?re mold-specific ? it?s not just a sideline. Valor handles contract documents and credit card payments electronically. Scheduling was easy. Their staff ? Joey and Christen ? texted arrival times and lunch breaks daily. Both were. courteous and congenial. They photo-documented work daily so I knew exactly what they were doing and why. They went right to work, no messing around. All contaminated trash (sheet rock, carpets, etc.) was bagged and immediately removed from premises. The cleaning was truly immaculate - every open beam in the basement utility room was cleaned, every cable and wire, every corner, every crevice. I could immediately tell the difference in my breathing when I walked down into the basement. Downside? ? annoying questions from the answering service used by the office (but the email correspondence was great, and both David and Joey were directly accessible by cell phones). Bottom line??If you?re looking for a cheap, quick, mold fix, Valor is not for you. However, if you are dealing with serious mold-related health issues, Valor is your go-to company. They know what they?re doing and how to do it. I highly recommend them.

Valor did an excellent job on the project. We had mold in our attic for some time, due to poor decisions we allowed previous companies to make several years ago regarding insulation and ?improvements? to our attic (such as installing an attic fan and sealing off the ridge vent. Terrible mistakes?). Due to these poor decisions, we ended up with no air flow in our attic and all the heat rising from our house into the attic. We started with getting multiple quotes from roofing companies, with three of the five companies stating they wouldn?t do the work unless the mold was remediated. We were referred to Valor by Shiner Roofing, who works simultaneously with Valor same day during projects. This was especially intriguing as it was important to knock out the projects as soon as possible, but efficiently. We typically get multiple quotes before pricey projects, but in one meeting with David, the owner, we knew there was no decision to make other than going with him. He was extremely knowledgeable and told us what caused our mold and how to prevent it from coming back (as much as possible anyway, no guarantees, of course). He told us about air sealing (which we previously researched and solidified our conclusion that he knows his stuff) and how his team will work with Shiner to complete the project. He described all details. Shiner and Valor coordinated scheduling the job. It took just a few weeks for the roofing company to order the material, so Valor was really able to get the job started right away. During this waiting period I spoke with David and Lois on just a question regarding the process of the remediation, and they called me back same day, within just a few short hours and answered my question. They had excellent service and customer attention. I also received multiple confirmation emails from Lois confirming the date of the project and when the crew of 2 would arrive. The project date came and the crew called me about 30 minutes out, which I appreciated. They and Shiner came and this day ended up being a very windy and cold January day. Too windy, in fact, that Shiner made the call to cancel the project as it was too dangerous for the roofers. While the project was not too dangerous for Valor, they understood and the crew left to come to another day. This flexibility that Valor had in essentially working around everyone else was incredible. They are a busy company doing a very dangerous job, and for them to accommodate speaks to again, their service excellence to the customer. The roofing company decided to come two days later and thankfully Valor was available. Ronnel and Mikey showed up again (on time, giving me notice of their arrival prior to). Ronnel and Mikey were personable, thorough, and did an excellent job. During their time with us, including the day they came but couldn?t do the job due to conditions outside of their control, and the day they actually did the work, they walked us through what they were doing to do and executed their job perfectly. They really took their time up there. They took pictures before, during, and after. They cleaned up nicely. They have such a tough job, and for them to follow through with excellent results speaks to their work ethic and their leaders. Lois was one of the best company workers I have ever had to speak to. I spoke with her to schedule David to come out for our initial meeting, and multiple times throughout. We spoke for a great deal of time after the project and her attentiveness and the frequent touchbases she did with me throughout really left me liking this company so much. I have encountered many companies since becoming a homeowner ? the majority of which have not been honest ? I can say without a doubt these four people ? Lois, David, Mikey, and Ronnel ? were without a doubt the nicest and most honest crew out there. Whatever they are doing to keep that integrity alive in their company, I have no doubt that will continue on. I hope to never have mold problems again (it?s a not a fun thing to have that?s for sure) but if I ever do, or if you ever do, I feel confident in saying that this company will help you out and give the you the best possible solution for the mold you currently have. Thank you so much Valor for providing us with a peace of mind and curing the mold we had, and for being such an honest group of individuals.

I can state without exaggeration, that hiring Valor was one of the most important decisions I've ever made vis a vis hiring a professional services company. Why? It turns out that my basement has been infested with mold, and the reason I've been having increasingly inexplicable and difficult to treat health issues over the past several years. We are forever grateful to Valor for its honesty, professionalism, heart (yes, businesses can have heart), and above all, a respect for the highest standards it brought to our mold remediation. It scares me to think how close we were to engaging a crackpot service, spending tons of money, and ultimately, not remediating the mold. I will not bother to delineate the ways in which that company (listed here on Angie's List and not even licensed to work in Virginia where I live...not that they shared that with me) was dishonest and unethical, but enough to say that Valor was the mirror image. The confidence and appreciation for the company started with Lois--who epitomizes polish and meticulous customer service as the administrative head and first point of contact for the company--and David, the public face and anchoring force of Valor. He exudes honesty, calm, a deep knowledge of his profession, and decency. In our case, he was adamant that we needed top-notch pre and post testing from a 3d party tester specialized in dealing with complex health issues as had occurred with us. You've got to love a mold remediation company that insists on subjecting itself to high grade testing! David walked us through the work and methodology and it was of the highest standards. We are now completely mold free. Hurrah! I will also add that the team that worked here at the house (Donnie, Joey and Kristyn) were equally professional and delightful to deal with. I cannot recommend Valor highly enough. They are in a class of their own. Final word (or warning) to all of you considering a mold remediation expert: this is absolutely not something you want to scrimp on and go with the lowest priced provider. There is a reason that Valor is more expensive than most of their competitors. You're paying for the Gold standard.

Anxiety and concern regarding discovery of mold in my basement was immediately assuaged by Valor. From the outset, Valor staff treated my home as if it were their own and provided thorough and insightful assessment of the problem, both immediate and long-term. This included a complete examination of the entire house not just the sight of mold that was readily apparent. Valor accommodated a challenging departure schedule and assured me the house would be safe to leave for several weeks before the complete remedy could be undertaken. I left with peace of mind that the condition was stable and would be remedied immediately upon my return. Valor facilitated my connection with an independent testing agent to conduct pre- and post-treatment appraisals. The removal process was conducted effectively, and Valor staff helped me take measures to ensure maintaining the mold-free environment. The removal process took three days, and all aspects were undertaken in a professional manner. Respect for the home itself was evident throughout the process. The post-inspection personnel commented on the thoroughness of the removal. Follow-up after cleaning has been far beyond what is generally experienced in typical home maintenance service. I would highly recommend Valor as a company to relieve both the anxiety and the damaging effects of a mold problem.

David was wonderful, and Valor is heads and shoulders above the 3 other companies that we consulted (including both local competitors and a well-known national competitor). He is an expert in the industry, and it is obvious from the first moment you meet him. He is also very highly regarded by others in the industry, including multiple environmental hygiene firms and other experts who perform pre- and post-mitigation tests. If you know you have a mold problem, then I wouldn't go with anyone else. Our risk of mold was minimal based on air quality test results performed by multiple environmental hygienists and we were under severe time constraints, so we couldn't wait for him to fit us in. If we had any flexibility on timing or suspected we would find mold, I would have waited for Valor no matter what. David is also great at giving you tips on how to deal with your insurance company if you have an insurance claim.

Overall the experience was very positive. David came to do the estimate and was very professional and personable. He seemed to be both knowledgeable and honest. The estimate was what we ended up paying - no hidden costs or anything like that. The remediation team was also professional and thorough in their job. They took pictures and explained what they did to me (since I could not go in the contained area). It was fairly expensive but I had confidence that it was done correctly and therefore protected my family's health so it was worth it to me.

Valor Mold did an excellent job with the small amounts of mold removal and the rebuild. The employees were very nice and professional. Only drawback was the poor response time when communicating with the front office, and more importantly the cost - $4,500 dollars for what amounted to four days of work that covered approximately 32 square feet of drywall. Cost estimate was confusing as it was broken down into three payments that were identical in dollar amount. This was further complicated by poor communication on part of Valor offices. Would have never agreed to the cost had we realized how much it was actually going to be. Nice workers. Good craftmanship. Incredibly expensive.

We purchased our home within the past year and my husband was removing old paneling in the basement of our home. He found a mold problem in one area of the basement. We looked on Angie's list and e-mailed Valor Mold with some pictures. Lois responded quickly and was very helpful in answering our questions and explaining the process on the business side, plus explained to us how to safely contain the area until they could get out to assess the issue. They quickly sent out the owner, David, to assess the problem. He was very honest and genuinely interested in solving the source of the problem and safely removing the mold. Our issue was caused by a downspout that was not extended far enough away from our home, in conjunction with drywall that was affixed directly to concrete block basement. In one day, David and his crew removed all of the wood paneling, drywall, carpeting, carpet padding. They HEPA vacuumed the entire area and our television. They wore booties, they set up a containment area and really did everything completely the right way. We could have had our furniture HEPA vacuumed for an additional $400 but decided we'd replace instead. We paid a small extra fee for the furniture removal (I think $150-200, not included in above cost of service). Valor is affiliated with a construction company if you need help rebuilding. We did not take advantage of those services and there was no pressure whatsoever to add that on. No one wants to have a mold problem. Valor charges a fixed price - flat rate that you know ahead of time. They assume the risk of remediating it to your satisfaction, so if there is further problems uncovered, you know you are paying a flat rate. That was reassuring to us, as we knew exactly what we'd be paying. You can choose to have an outside inspection company come and test within 48 hours of them completing the job. They don't do the testing themselves because it would be a conflict of interest. Overall this is a top notch company that deals only with mold. David was truly an expert at what he does and his crew was very professional and polite and hardworking. I would recommend them to anyone that discovers mold issues in their home. They were honest, very responsive, we were able to treat and fix the issue very quickly and we have full confidence that they solved the problem. They even gave us recommendations on how to rebuild ourselves to prevent the issue from recurring.

David and Lois are great to work with. Scheduling with Lois is fast and easy, and David was able to come out and explain all the aspects of mold remediation and repair. David is super easy to talk to and is a very genuine guy who you can tell wants the best for their customers. They were able to diagnose the problem, and any other side effects, and talked about all the steps they would take. However, we didn't go with them as another contractor was an all in one shop, that could do everything for less. With that said, Valor is a great company with good family values, and I'm sure if I went with them, I would have not been disappointed.

After gathering several estimates for mold remediation in my house, I decided on Valor. They were endearing from the beginning and I got a very no BS feel from David (the owner). He was knowledgeable and walked me through lots of information regarding mold and things to look out for before, during and after the remediation. His crew was courteous, friendly and knowledgable as well. They were more expensive than the other estimates that I received but I like the fact that the remediation REALLY has to creep in scope (completely new rooms, floors) before they charge you additionally for the remediation. The series of actions that they laid out from the beginning was exactly what took place.

I had a very huge amount of mold in my basement. They came out strip the whole base, removed the carpets and cleaned everything that was in the basement. They also took of the board as it had mold on it. They disposed everything themselves. The workers were very prompt. My only complain was that it was very expensive but they did a good job and did everything they said they will. We made the decision for choosing them so we knew about the cost when going in.

The company only specializes in mold removal and informed mem that I didn’t have a mold problem, the area just needed to be cleaned. They are very good, honest and very helpful

I could not have been happeir with the friendly and professional service provided by Valor Mold. David was very upfront in saying that my probelm was not severe enough to need his service and recommended I use a general contractor to replace the caulk and wood trim. He walked away from a potential job because there was a less expensive option for me. He was also extremely freindly, answered all my questions, and provided general advice. I would highly recommend Valor Mold.
