+ 1 moreI have signed up TBI for Lawn and Shrub Care, after reading all the reviews on Angie's. After about 6 months into their service, I can see that my lawn is deteriorating and while most of my neighbors lawns are looking pretty good. We have an irrigation system and watering is not an issue. Three other neighbors have signed up with TBI along with me and everybody's lawn is in the same situation. We are a new community and this is the second year for the lawn. It seemed to be in better shape last year where we were paying less than half of what these guys are charging. Interestingly, we keep receiving bills almost every month for the lawn treatment they have done but I am struggling to understand how they are still messing up. There doesn't seem to be any quality check either as nobody bothered to check the condition of our lawn and call us either. Very disappointed and let down. I have to take these Angie's reviews with a pinch of salt now.

+ 0 moreThis is the update to the previous review: T.B.I sent the technician to check my lawn again and called me to discuss the problem and solution. They told me that the brown grass is due to the recent weather and promised me that the problem will be solved and the lawn will come back to green again. I am willing to give them another chance and will update the result later. Previous review: I switched to T.B.I for lawn maintenance this year after seeing the excellent review on Angies List. Boy, that was a total mistake. My lawn is not looking good at all. It was always the best in the neighborhood for the years before. However, ever since T.B.I started to put fertilizer, it started to have all those brown spots and it got worse. Even my neighbors noticed that and came to ask me what was wrong with my lawn. I called T.B.I for the problem and they came to do the summer fertilizer last week. I followed everything they said on the notes with watering and mowing, but still no help. My lawn simply look bad with all those dead grass. I don't know what to do. I called T.B.I and requested the technician who worked on my lawn to call me. I still haven't got any reply.

+ -1 moreLawn treatment was part of periodic lawn service. There are 5 visits per year that include reseeding and core aeration in the fall. I've been using Turf Builders for over 5 years and we have the best looking lawn in the neighborhood! They are very professional and respond immediately if we call between regularly scheduled treatments...e.g. we see weeds pop-up or lawn disease.
Description of Work: Applied fertilizer and weed preventer to grass. They use a broadcast spreader and clean off over spray on side walks and driveway.

+ -1 moreOver many years, we had tried various lawn care services with disappointment across the board. TGI did a great job and within a year we have a lush, thick lawn. I would rate them 10x better than any of the others that we had. We recently moved to a townhouse so we don't need them any longer, but I left one of their invoices for the new owners with some good words on their behalf.

Description of Work: TBI provided an initial assessment and recommendations to eliminate weeds and create a healthier lawn. Great communications from initial inquiry to first treatment. Very low effort on my part...TBI took the lead / made it easy. I am on an annual plan and feel confident of successful outcome.

+ -1 moreWe needed to find a lawn care company soon in the mid-April due to the sudden hot weather. I called the T.B.I. to ask a quote for season care and mulching on Fri, 4/12/13 around 11am. By 2pm the same day, an worker who was estimating our yard gave me a call and asked which area we needed for mulching. He left a seasonal care program quote which was 5 times treatment/year and $73 each time. He wrote a note that he would mail a service proposal for mulch and the mail arrived on Tuesday, 4/16/13. We were already satisfied how quickly they gave us a response, so didn't wait for the mulching quote and asked them to start lawn care treatment on Monday, 4/15/13 by phone. The next day, 4/16/13, they called me to inform that they scheduled to take care our lawn on Wednesday, 4/17/13. We got a service within 6days, if it excluded the weekend, only 4days after called them to ask a quote. I handed my check for mulching down payment to the worker on Wed, 4/17/2013. Not only the time efficiency, the work was efficient. Honestly, I don't know or can't tell how well our lawn is improved for this short time of period, but we are looking forward to having them back to do mulching and the next early summer lawn care.

+ -1 moreThey come and treat the lawn and we don't have to be here when they do that so that's really nice for people to work. I haven't dealt to much with them, my husband dealt more with them so I can't give you a whole lot of details about them. I do know that my husband is happy with the price. They recently told us that the pH in our lawn needed increased and he needed to put lime down and they gave us and estimate and we double checked at some of the home improvement stores and their estimate was way lower than it would have cost us to buy the lime ourselves and spread it so we were happy with their estimate, at least the estimate on the lime. They sent us a quote last year and we were happy with the quote, we just kind of forgot about it and when we contacted this spring, they honored the quote that they had given us last year so we were really happy about that.
Description of Work: T.B.I. Lawn Care Professionals are servicing our lawn. They were last out to put a treatment on our lawn. They should be coming anytime, within the next couple of days to do a second treatment on the lawn. We have a contract with them for the year.

+ -1 moreThe house had been vacant for a while before we bought it, so the lawn hasn't been taken care of probably since last summer. T.B.I came and did some spot-seeding, after a few weeks some new grass came out but there are still some bare spots. I sent an email to T.B.I and asking for advise, with intention of getting information so that I can then do some work on my own. I haven't received any response. Instead, a few days later when I came home from work, my lawn was sliced and seeded, with no bill left to me. What a surprise!

+ -1 moreThe lawn did improve. I called them back out to respray for crab grass because it rained after the last application. They came back out. Later, I still had concerns about areas of the lawn and I could not communicate with the workers applying the treatment, so I called the office and asked to speak with a manager. It took 3 1/2 weeks for someone to call me back! I did not renew.
Description of Work: I used them for a season for weed & Seed & fertilizer.

Description of Work: TBI Lawn Care provides lawn fertilization and treatment. We have an annual contract with them and they come out about seven times a year. We previously used another company and had to call them back a few times. Never had a reason to call back TBI. They provide professional service and we have been complemented a number of times as to how plush our lawn looks. Two neighbors started using TBI after seeing our lawn.

Description of Work: We had had lawn care and tree and shrub services for some years and decided to get multiple estimates. We felt our existing services had become expensive and not consistent with the market for these services. Lawn care includes fertilizer, weed control, grub control, aeration and overseeding. Based upon this estimate for the lawn care, I asked that they come back and give me an estimate for the tree and shrub care as well; that estimate was on my door later that same day. Using them so far has been great, and I will be saving about $750 a year for the same service from TruGreen.

+ -1 moreExtremely pleased with their service. They take the time to talk to me about the problems I'm having with the lawn and are very responsive to my concerns. I understand that it's going to take a while for the soil to improve given how acidic the soil became when tenants left leaves on the soil. They clean up after each of their treatments so chemicals are not left on the driveway and sidewalks. I have no doubt that hiring them is and will be a good investment to protect the money we invested in the new sod.
Description of Work: We hired this company in August after getting about a 1/2 dozen estimates from other companies. The company was hired to do yearly lawn care. Our recent service for $45 was a lime application. Our lawn had been destroyed by 3 years of tenants who did not rake up leaves or tend to the lawn at all. We hired another company to put in sod and we wanted to protect our investment. The years of mistreatment left our soil very acidic and we knew we would need more lime treatment then usual to protect our sod. We hired them for $380 a year and the service included 5 treatments during the year. The spring treatment included fertilization, crabgrass control, and spot weed control. The early summer treatment included fertilization, insect control, broadleaf weed control, and disease control (as needed). The summer treatment included vita-feed high potassium feeding, insect controls, weed controls, crabgrass control (as needed), disease controls (as needed), and soil test. The fall treatment included heavy rate fertilization, seeding and aeration. The late fall/winter treatment included fertilization, spot weed control, and lime application. One of the nice things about this company is that the aeration and seeding is included in the price. This was not the case with other companies. We started service in August and they did aeration and over-seeding. Although we had a soil sample taken in May and the report, they did an additional soil sample, free of charge, to assess if we needed more lime than their typical application. We needed substantially more since the soil was so acidic. They broke up the lime application into two amounts, as per the recommendation of the soil sample test. Although lime application is included in the yearly price, our soil needed so much more that we had to pay $45 more for each of the applications. This wasn't a problem since the soil really did necessitate a much greater amount than is typical. We had a rust problem in late summer and I was really concerned since it looked like part of the lawn wasn't even fertilized. They came out to assess the problem immediately. As I expected, the acidic nature of the soil was making it hard for the fertilizer to work as well as it should. They applied additional fertilizer to the bad areas and treated for the fungus. They didn't charge for either since the fungus wasn't typical this time of year and was probably a function of stressed out grass (again, related to the acidic soil). They've been to our house 5 times now. Twice to do part of the annual service. Twice to do the lime applications and apply a fungus treatment and additional fertilizer. Once to assess the possible rust problem.

We have a very large lawn and they spend a lot of time putting down all the fertilizer and weed control. We have had other lawn services in the past and this is by far the best we have had! Highly recommend!!

We received 3 personal inspections and estimates for similar lawn health services and TBI's was the most comprehensive with a fair price. They come out once a quarter during the day, do what they need to do, then leave us a flyer telling us what they did and what we need to do to help keep the lawn healthy green. Within a year, our lawn went from brown and dead to green and healthy. We still get brown spots because of the sun exposure our lawn gets, but all of our neighbors have commented on how much better our lawn looks. We're so thankful!

I ran into some difficulties at the beginning with the technician and office staff, but the office manager worked hard to address the issues. I am undecided about whether to use them again. + -1 moreI signed a year contract with TBI for lawn services (aeration, seeding, fertilization, weed control) for fall 2011 - fall 2012. They were always prompt, didn't leave a mess, and left a note they had treated the lawn. However, it was just a standard pre-printed form with a few things circled - nothing specific to my lawn at all. I understand that this past year was tough on many lawns in the area, but my lawn looked MUCH worse than the prior year when I did nothing at all to it. In early spring, the lawn looked horrendous despite mowing, with overgrown weeds everywhere. I called to inquire about when my spring treatment would be, and I was told they were very busy and everyone's lawn looked bad. I just needed to be patient. Over the summer things continued to look worse and worse, so I called and canceled my program. A few weeks later I called around to get other estimates, and I also decided to give TBI another chance. I wanted to see if someone could come out and actually talk to me about why my lawn looked so poor, and what I might do in the future the correct those problems. I talked with the very pleasant receptionist, explained my situation, and she said she would have someone call me. That was over 3 days ago, and I'm not expecting a call at this point. I'll obviously be using a different service starting this fall.
