Shanahan's installed a new Trane Heat Pump and couldn't have gone smoother. GREAT JOB. no complaints what so ever.

The owner, Kirk, came out to give us a quote. We had talked to several heating folks and we were impressed by has knowledge and honesty. The price quoted was very reasonable and his company was able to start work quickly. The job went well, and so far, a month later, all seems to be working well. We have heat and we don't need to mop up a puddle or monitor a bucket everyday. The price quoted was very competitive. All of his employees were courteous and professional.

Shanahan's responded to my inquiry within a day with a quote citing specific models of Trane equipment (brand was my request). No gimmicks or add-ons. He was able to perform the install on one of my two preferred dates. They arrived ten minutes early and completed the whole job, including gas hook up, return duct modification and a/c servicing within six hours. Kirk laid out sheets over all of the floors and steps into the basement, and the basement as well. They removed all of the old hardware and didn't leave a scrap of waste in the area. Every member of the crew of five was professional, clean, polite and well spoken. Kirk Shanahan's approach was in sharp contrast to another big name vendor who insisted on a personal house visit and probed me to death with open ended questions about my needs, despite my telling him that I had been satisfied with the old system's performance - it was simply broken, not inadequate. I felt like I was being sold a combination of a used car and a life insurance policy. To add insult to injury, their quote was 55% higher than Shanahan's for precisely the same models of equipment. This was my second experience with Shanahan's. They replaced a heat pump and attic coil/exchanger in 2008 (two zone house) and had a similarly positive experience with Shanahan's back then.

They did an outstanding job. I called them Wednesday and they were out Thursday. They ordered the part and got everything fixed on Friday. I could not be happier with their work.

Punctual. Polite. System serviced. Replaced bad saddle valve and installed new water panel for humidifier.

The entire installation was great. I was without air conditioning and we were in the 90's and they put me at the top of the list to get a new unit installed. It was done in record time and I came home to no mess left behind and a cool house. I felt I got a great deal after talking to neighbors and what they had paid. They gave me over $1400 discount for ordering heat and air at the same time and when I called and ask for a senior discount I was told the package was much less than what they normally charged and the rep must have liked me!!

The team from Shanahan's was a pleasure to work with. The estimate was completed on time just days after we made a request, and installation was completed within less than two weeks. The installation crew arrived at the scheduled time, knew their stuff, and performed quick but thorough service. A great experience and we will use Shanahan's in the future for our heating/cooling service.

They came when they said they would, they even call ahead of time. They were very polite. They carefully explained in detail how to make adjustments, where the switches were, how to change the temperature. Same thing with the humidifier, how to change the filter, etc. I wrote down what they were telling me they were going that slowly for me. They were very patience with me. When they left there was no debris and cleaned up very well. I even got a call from the owner thanking me for my compliment on the note I left on my bill. They are outstanding and I would absolutely recommend them to others!

We had multiple problems that started out with a non-working water heater that Kirk Shanahan and crew quickly were able to install, both the estimate and the work were right on and very professional. I had immediate response with Shanahan. We had already used them in the past to replace our non-working heating and air conditioning system which we were also very happy with, we will continue to use Shanahan's again and again. Thanks

They were polite, professional and prompt from the phone answering to the arrival and completion of the work. We called on the morning of one of the hottest days of the year and even though we did not have a service contract with them Allen showed up within 2 hours of our call. He quickly diagnosed the problem and did the relatively simple repair. We were up and running within 2.5 hours of our call. And they did not try to sell us things we did not need. We were very pleased and would definitely call them again for any work we need in the future. .

Excellent. Good workers, neat, thorough, on their own suggestion, re-routed duct to give me more space. I was very pleased with their work and that Kirk Shanahan came to oversee and help, too.

Shanahan and crew installed three new duct outlets in basement of one of my rental properties and switched another duct from outlet to return. Both the estimate visit and the work visit were right on time and very professional. I had good interaction with both the estimator and the work crew. Keith Shanahan came out and started the work himself and probably did most of it. Others from his team joined him as they came from other jobs. Shanahan does not do drywall, but left his cuts in the drywall neat and easy for me to fix myself. The work is just what I bargained for, and best of all, I was charged well less than the estimate. I will use Shanahan's again.

They beat every other bid, by over 2000.00 and were out the very next day!

I noticed there was a little leakage from our new HVAC unit, which Shanahan installed October 2012. I called at 7:00 A.M. They had a technician here at 8:15 A.M. He was able to diagnose and repair the problem quickly. The problem was to the only piece of equipment we didn't replace, a humidifier, which was condensing water from the humid air and allowing it to leak through a valve that had worked loose.

The technician went right for the controller and could smell something electrical. Within 10 minutes he diagnosed and fixed the problem....a wire had burned out. I have used several AC contractors over the years and bought a season contract with Shanahans several years ago. I find them to be very responsive and their prices are more reasonable than other companies I have used. Several years ago, I had a problem with the unit turning off and two other contractors immediately said that I needed a new compressor (usually about $1000), even though the Carrier AC unit was less than five years old. It took two trips but Shanahan's was able to diagnose the problem as a master fuse in the box near the outside unit. Saved me a whole lot of cash and aggravation!

I went as good as I could have asked for. They were prompt, efficient. Unit is working beautifully.

The price was less than I expected. They were not able to make out that evening because they were busy or something; but they came out the next day. They were able to fit me in their schedule. The technician that came out, his name was Steve Smith was very up front in terms of what was wrong with the air conditioner. He walked my wife through the entire repair process and explained to her what was going on, which was a big deal for me. He walked me through the same thing when I came home and he showed me how to fix the problem if it comes up again. He showed the proper way to clean out my specific a/c unit and maintain through the year.

Superb , professional work in all respects- among very best I have experienced in over 45 yrs in No Va- Kirk (owner) and crew of 8 plus were extremely polite and knowledgeable , cleaned up including removal of all old equip and went over the operations of new equip- no one sat around and all seemed to know their indiv tasks by rote- from initial contact w/Vicki to follow-up w/Kirk and Larry (estimator), every step was pleasant. Shanahans is a very worthy "price performer" I.e., very reasonable and fair pricing. In sum, a very top notch outfit AND the author of this review is a very demanding and high expectation consumer.

Kirk came out personally to do the initial study on our conversion. I had 5 different companies provide me with evaluations and quotes. Kirk impressed me with both his knowledge and his honesty. The Shanahan's estimate was the least expensive but I went with them primarily because I trusted this company would do the job safely and the way I wanted it done. Shanahan's was very helpful leading me through the process to get the gas company to install a line and meter at my house. Kirk came out with his crew and oversaw the entire 2-day conversion process. He then came back out to ensure that I fully understood how to use the system and perform routine maintenance. The new system works great. I highly recommend this company for HVAC needs.

Very sraight forward. Made an appointment for routine service, they were punctual, serviced the a/c and were gone. No fuss!

Shanahan's beat out two other companies in terms of price. They installed new system very professionally, and we are extremely happy with result 6 months later. Initially they proposed replacing our system with a similar sized system, but when we probed about getting a smaller system based on recommendations from Snells, they quickly agreed that the smaller system would be better and more cost effective.

Price quoted was fair, service prompt and neat. Everything was as described.

I was very disappointed with Shanahans. When I called to make the appointment, I specifically told the person I spoke with that in addition to AC servicing, I wanted them to look at a bathroom vent duct that was not venting properly to the outside. That person told me no problem. However, when the technician arrived, he told me that they don't do that kind of work. I would have called someone else had I known that. In addition, the tech overcharged me for his time. Shanahan's charges $99 for the first 30 mins, then $25 per 15 mins. The tech was with me less than 2 hours and charged me $300. I suspect this is because I had 2 houses to do. (charging me for each house as if it was 2 different visits) However, I feel ripped off as the total time, including travel between, was less than 2 hours. On top of that, the technician was not very helpful. I asked him for a quote to fix some leaky ducts that I had simply thrown some tape on as a temporary fix. He told me that he couldn't feel any leaks and that I didn't need anything done. Nice as it is to not have someone try to charge for unnecessary work, I told him specifically that the tape isn't permanent and I wanted a permanent fix. He essentially told me that he wouldn't do anything about it. Overall, a bad experience. I wonder if the extra business they're getting from the positive reviews here has caused them to hire some employees that don't provide the same level of service. UPDATE: Just some quick responses to the company: "With regard to the leaking ducts; the tech looked, but could not see, or feel, the area of concern, and when the customer was asked to accompany him to the attic, the customer declined." Nonsense. The tech saw the temporary duct tape repair I put in place and explicitly told me so. There was no reason to go into the attic - the tech saw what I was talking about and simply declined to give me a quote for a permanent fix. "It is standard practice to charge a trip fee for each location that is serviced, with an exception made for two locations within very close proximity. In this particular case, service at the second location involved travel time." If that is the case then you should tell people that when they make the appointment. I was not told anything about a travel fee - nor did my receipt list any such fee. I was told it would be a time-based charge, and as I mentioned. the total time including travel was less than 2 hours.
