Response from Shanahan's Heating & Cooling Inc
Shanahan's Heating & Cooling enjoys an excellent reputation for our prompt and professional HVAC repair services as well as routine maintenance services performed for our contract customers. We can certainly understand (removed member name) frustration regarding the flooding of her basement and we sincerely regret her belief it was due to our negligence. We have had the pleasure of serving (removed member name) as a contract customer since November 2010. On November 20, 2012 we performed a routine maintenance on her heating system and humidifer. The entire system was found to be in good working order. On November 23rd we dispatched our "on-call" technician in response to an emergency water leak. The technician found the FLOOR drain was clogged causing the water back up in her basement, not a clogged humidifier drain or malfunctioning humidifier. He explained to (removed member name) that floor drains are not part of the HVAC system, not covered by her contract and the problem would need to be addressed by a licensed plumber. She was billed for the service call and a nominal emergency fee for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. When (removed member name) contacted our office to dispute the charges her message was conveyed to management. As a courtesy, the emergency fee for the holiday weekend service was waived. She was not satisfied with a discount but rather felt there should be no charge at all and wanted to speak with Mr. Shanahan. Our service manager returned the call, explained that Mr. Shanahan is in the field every day and unable to take calls. However, Mr. Shanahan had revisited the issues and again determined the charges to be extremely fair. Her payment was processed on December 12th, almost 3 weeks later, clearly indicating the situation had been given a great deal of consideration.
