I called around 8pm and asked how soon they could get someone out, someone came out that night and diagnosed the issue. They were back with the part and it was fixed within 24 hours. I was extremely grateful especially because we have a newborn. This is the fourth time I have used this company and I'm always amazed at how well mannered the techs are. They will always be my first call for anything HVAC related. They are wonderful.

Went great. I really appreciated their approach.
Description of Work: My furnace condensate pump froze in the Polar Vortex air, and flooded my basement. I called in the morning and they got me on the schedule for an afternoon visit. During the day, I was able to unfreeze the line with a hair dryer, but was unsure whether it would happen again. My service technician Carlos walked me through what was happening, made some really useful recommendations, and suggested I schedule a regular (rather than after-hours) appointment, and save myself some money. Great experience. Very honest. Leslie the dispatcher was super friendly and helpful.

They were super friendly and professional. They were out within the week of me purchasing the deal and they were easy to schedule with. One technician came out to do the work and it took about an hour to complete everything. They were on time for the appointment and I was satisfied with the results. They were great to work with and I will definitely use them again in the future.

Terrible. I never got a follow-up call for an estimate and come to find out, today I found out that we had a furnace problem that caused our oil to burn off 2X faster than usual and that it was emitting oil vapors. I had another company come out and verify this after we ran out of heating oil unexpectedly. Frankly, these guys are terrible. They put on a good front, but no follow-up. The fact that his guy would endanger my child by not doing his job is really terrible.
Description of Work: We had two issues we needed the tech to look at -- one was that we had some HVAC issues in the house, where our contractor reduced the return duct -- so we wanted an estimate to replace it (or run a second). Second, we had an oil smell in my little boy's room. So the tech was supposed to make sure the oil furnace was working. The tech told me he would get his boss out to get me a quote within the next three days and that there was no problem from the HVAC furnance.

Walter Davilla is the epitome of professionalism and customer service. Walter went above and beyond to ensure I was totally satisfied with the installation and operation of the new Bradford White unit. We received a discount for being an Angie's List member and an additional discount for signing up for a maintenance agreement on our HVAC systems. Without hesitation, I would recommend Service Works to my family and friends.

I purchased the $79 deal to have Service Works clean and inspect my heat pump. I wasn't home, so my wife met the technician. The technician was thorough in his inspection, taking about an hour. He suggested some minor part replacements and provided quotes for them, but he wasn't pushy and didn't push any additional repairs or services. He provided a written report of all the points inspected and recommendations.

It turned out great! He didn't clean anything. I thought it was for cleaning but it ended up just being for an inspection. He gave me a list of all of the other stuff that was wrong with it and I said, "Okay. Great. Thanks." There were no additional charges beyond the big deal amount. I didn't contract them to do any other work on it because I have a company that does the oil. My contractor then gave me an annual cleaning and stuff so I just used them for it instead since the other company didn't do it. They're great. They did some other work for us before. The guy that comes out is very professional. I don't have any issues. I will probably go back to them again.

A friend recommended using Service Works LLC and I could not be more pleased with the results. I called in the morning and they were out the same day!!! The technician was very knowledgeable and explained everything in terms I could understand since I am not a HVAC expert. We discussed options. In the end, it was time for a new unit. I received 3 quotes/recommendations- good, better, best. Rich, the owner, took the time to explain the different quotes and based on my situation provided a ?this is what I would do? which was invaluable in my decision making process. And it wasn?t the most expensive option either! BONUS ? Service Works LLC also offers financing!!! This absolutely made the necessary investment much easier to handle. Service Works included service maintenance & filters for the 1st year as well. 2 days after signing the contract, I had a new Carrier A/C unit, gas furnace, humidifier, and air purifier installed. Install team was on time. Work was completed quickly and accurately. True professionals who are committed to quality service from the owner to the technicians. Highly recommend them! A+++!

Came back from week long trip late on a Saturday night to find the central air unit not cooling. Called Service Works on Sun AM to schedule repair. Since weather was cool and vendor wanted $150 for "emergency" visit on a Sun....we scheduled the visit on Monday 5 August AM. Technician was punctual, professional, and courteous. Stated that the capacitor was bad. So, we authorized replacement ($160). Tech also recommended we have the condenser cleaned....which I OK'd ($116). Total bill was $326.00. On Tues the A/C compressor again failed to come on. This was the same fault as before. Called Service Works to come back which they did. Since this was a "call back" from earlier work they did not charge for the house call. Tech said the contactor was bad. And, stated that he could replace for about $210.00. I actually had him show me the contactor that he recommended replacing. I asked him to button the unit up and that if it repeated I would call. I am not an electrician but have done basic homeowner, automobile, and aircraft electrical repairs and component replacements for years. What I saw was this: The capacitor and contactor sit right next to each other. The capacitor had been replaced. The contactor wiring was frayed, corroded, mangled, and burned. The capacitor housing was burned as well (I have photos). Arcing had been occurring. When I saw this I immediately asked my self: Why had the tech not alerted to this on his first visit from a safety point if nothing else. Its entirely possible that the contactor was the problem the first time around. Later in the day the A/C compressor failed to come on. I manually bumped the contactor plunger/contact and easily started the compressor. I purchased a replacement double pole contactor from Trible's Inc supply for $22.79. Cleaned up the wiring. Replaced one spade connector. Buttoned up the cover and have had no problem since. Total time for repair: about 30 minutes including cleaning up the wiring. If I had to do it a second time it would probably take me 15-20 minutes. I suspect that the capacitor was probably not bad. Likely the tech jumped at the most likely culprit and replaced it. PS: For this A/C unit (Goodman CLJ 421A) the replacement Part: Capacitor Dual Section, 30MFD, 5MFD, 370VAC costs less than $30 (Grainger). I checked my paperwork and my wife had United Air Temp clean the condenser coils etc on June 21st--45 days earlier. Had I agreed to the technicians recommendation to let him replace the contactor ($210) I would have spent a $536 to have a $22.00 part replaced.

I appologize for your expeirience but I think your critique is a bit harsh. If you are experienced at repairing HVAC systems I dont know why we called out. I will sum it up. We are problably one of the lowest costs for repairs in Northern Virginia. Some may not understand how business works. Techs get paid for 8+ hours a day. We are only able to bill for 4-5 hours of their time on average. (think about times when windows are open) We are still here to service our customers year after year. The average AC company only lasts 1-2 years due to the lack of knowledge of the service business. With the economy AC companies are falling at a rate of 40% per year. This is due to the lack of management controls of overhead. Prices are, well I should state margins are falling while price of materials is increasing. The cost of a piece of paper from an attorney can cost you $150 to $600. I could get a piece of paper and printed the same document myself for 38 cents. That attorney is overcharging me! Nope same as any business you are paying for the business, not the material. Is an attorney more per hour due to colledge education. Nope, its just usually attorneys have enough business sense to charge what it takes to stay in business based on fluctuating hourly billing. Most AC companies are started by a tech that leaves a company and has amindset that he will do it and bases his prices on someone elses. Not because he knows how to run a company. Therefore fails in 1-2 years. I know you may not understand fully. It is your right to fix things on your own. Its definitly cheaper. But may I ask that you dont bash a compny when you call them out unless you put yourself in there shoes first. Secondly did you ask for an escalation to the service manager or myself? We could have assisted, we are always here for our customers. Part of why we charge what we do. This review will take 15 straight A reviews to offset. To think I was not even given a chance to make you happy. On the last note. Besides all of the Office, staffing, vehicles, insurance, fuel, phones, website, marketing, tools, training, taxes and more taxes of running a business, there is a liability that is undertaken when repairing HVAC equipment. If a home burns to the ground, someone gets electricuted, carbon monoxide, and a family is hurt the liabilty is on us and our insurance. When you make your own repairs you save money but also get the liabilty. Insurance companies do not payout when repairs are not made by properly licensed people!

The technician called me to let me know when he was on his way and told me a price which was much higher than the initial quote, which I have in writing. He said he was going to call his office to verify the price, and I never heard from him, rather the office called me to let me know the price was not what they had originally quoted me, so I asked him for a refund of the service fee. I was inconvenienced twice to have the repair made, and the work has not been completed. They have been trying to make me feel bad like I have done something wrong, but I feel they have not been fair, the technician sat out in his car for a long time while he was here, and was only in my house for a few minutes. At this point all I want is a refund of the money I had paid with the understanding my repair was only going to cost me $225 for both toilets.
Description of Work: They were supposed to replace a fill valve and flapper in my toilet. He quoted me $150.00 for the first toilet, and $75.00 for the second. The $89.00 I paid was a deposit and was to be credited on my final bill.

We have been bit 2 times by this customer. The first we did a water heater and her fireplace stopped working. Of course we got blamed. You know how the water heater is connected to the fire place....... Well we keep very detailed notes usually on work ordered including GPS time tracking for techs. She requested that we be out at 7am sharp. Technician did not get into the house due to someone oversleeping untill 730am. Technician did not have the truck stock to repair onsite and customer dids not want to wait for 30 minutes to get the parts. We use GPS fixes on our techs and I have confirmed that he arrived at the residence at 6:59 AM and worked till 7:47 AM. At the time of the visit the customer opted to not have the quoted repairs at that time due to the time it would take the technician to complete the repairs that day. Our standard practice is to charge a service call for each visit, which would apply to any return calls including the repairs to be done at a later dates. I was willing to waive this fee and perform the repair (replace fill valve and flapper) for the price quoted at the time of the service on August 14th, of $150 for the first toilet and $75 for each additional for a total of $225. Our standard rate to replace a fill valve is $223 per toilet and our service call (not a call requiring diagnositics) is $75 putting this repair value at $521 for $225 The customer was fully refunded the monies prior to this review and she is only doing this to damage us. We cannot provide good service at a good price to everyone at the expence of a few. I'm sure some people that take the time to read this know people of this nature and this is not how we do business. This customer is not welcome in the future to get service and is noted in our work order system. Customers like this drive cost up for everyone.

We recently experienced a flooding incident where our toilet on the top floor of our home overflowed overnight flooding our main level and our basement. This was some kind of unfortunate coincidence where the internal components failed to stop the water like it would under normal operation. We contacted Service Works and set up an immediate plumbing inspection to ensure this type of situation was not caused by one of our sewer lines being clogged or for some other plumbing reason. Within 2 days Service responded to our request and was at our home checking all of the lines giving us additional piece of mind. John was an absolute professional who answered all of my questions while completing his thorough inspection. I was so pleased with my experience I asked him what else service works does so that I can have them come out again to service more of our home systems.

It turned out good! They came out pretty quickly after we purchased the big deal, we needed the water heater so I would say within a week. We up-charged into some kind of a holding tank recommended by them. They came and did the job. They were fine. There was nothing about them that I'd give them like, "Oh! My gosh you gotta use them next time." I think because of the big deal we used them. Not sure we'd use otherwise but not because we weren't happy. They came when they said they would. They answered our phone calls. Lot of times you call people, they don't get right back to you, he did. In the price he quoted there was an add-on if we wanted it and we did it.

I would say that it was fine and it did end up costing a little more, because my water heater did not have a shut off valve. He told me that that is required. I paid him to install it and he installed it. I have no problems. The price was reasonable. I liked their demeanor, attitude, and knowledge. Everything was fine. I would not use them again because I do not live their anymore. If I did live, there I would use them again.

Terrific!! Very professional.
Description of Work: Service Works installed a new water heater. The work was completed in a very professional manner and the workers did a terrific job of cleaning up. Later in the month I had the boiler replaced (located next to the water heater) and the workmen observed the new water heater should have had a 4-inch exhaust attached to the water heater to bring the water heater installment up to code standards. The folks replacing the boiler removed the 3-inch exhaust attached to the water heater and replaced it with the proper size at no addional cost to me. Would suggest if anyone else should use Service Works they inquire all attachments are up to code.

Below is the text from the manufacturers literature. 3x4 “Snap Lock” Draft Diverter—Allows either 3" or 4" vent connections with inputs of 40,000 BTU/Hr or less. Over 40,000 BTU/Hr. has the 4" “Snap Lock” Draft Diverter. I just dont want people to get the impression that we do not do work to code or per manufacturers recomendations. We take great pride in our work and if any time we have a tech that is not installing per code or manufacturers spec we would like to know as we ensure the technician will recieve the proper training, as well as we will gladly come back to rectify the problem.

Technician was very professional and seemed to know what he was doing. However, he created a system fault in my ac unit that would not clear. The Owner personally came over to resolve the problem. Good to see a company standby its work for a change. I would use them again.

Ahhhh, I remember this one. Yes, the way we are structured we escalate call backs to managers to ensure our technicians are properly representing us and sometimes we see maybe they need training. We understand that all companies utilize the same workforce, we would like to believe we have a better sorting procccess to get the good ones though. The way we manage them creates the difference in te end. Its the team that provides service not the tech! Every customer if they feel the need can contact me as the owner for good or for the bad. Its my job to make sure my company does its job right. Thank you for your time it took to write a review. See you next visit. ~Rich

Two young professionally dressed men arrived on time; explained in detail what they were going to do; suggested the need for a new valve which we purchased. The job was completed quickly, efficiently. The old water heater was removed. We plan to use Service Works in the future and we would definitely recommend them to friends.

Thank you (deleted member name) for taking your time and reviewing us. In this day, we get continually beat up about prices so it can be hard on us. Hearing praise from someone that see's the value in our service lifts us up to keep on providing the best that we can. Once again, Thank you ~Rich
