Description of Work: J & D Masonry LLC replaced 2 chimney caps with concrete caps that was required during a company relocation. Jeff was able to come complete the estimate and work in a very timely manner. The final price actually came in lower than the original estimate.

Description of Work: This job was to repair concrete in front and back of our home. The work in back is fine but the smaller task on the front walk is incomplete. Also, I had stain applied to the walk and it was done in two applications which resulted in a noticeable difference of appearance. He stated he would come back but he has not. No need now as the front walk is fading. We just wish he had fixed all the cracks. We truly feel his cost was too high.

Description of Work: At a time when we are guarded about who we hire for work on our homes, Jeff Dame proved to be a very good choice. We used Angie's List to make that choice. From the first phone call to the last work day, he did what he said he would do and more. No last minute fees or charges for extras. We were very pleased with all aspects of his work. His crew were also quality tradesmen. Everyone who worked on this job were very professional and courteous. We would definitely hire Jeff again!

Description of Work: My chimney cap, which had been leaking, and the first layer or so of bricks was removed. It was replaced with a thick, solid concrete cap guaranteed not to leak. In addition, the appearance of the chimney was greatly improved by routing out some silicone caulk I had used to try and stop the leaks. The job was well done. I was so pleased I gave Jeff and additional $200 over his bill.

Description of Work: Jeff came out to give us an estimate to replace our chimney. After examining it, he told us we did not need to replace it. He told my husband two things to do to stop the leaking we had experienced. He even called us one morning following a day of rain to see if his advise has solved the problem. He is the first we would call with any chimney issue in the future. Thanks Jeff.

+ -1 moreJeff is a diligent and skilled mason, with a great sense of duty and responsibility that has impressed me. My original request to him was to fix the steps; as we did not know for sure why they were sinking. He quickly found out that the foundation of the steps was OK, but that the water draining around the steps was inadequate. He also found out that part of the wood siding of my house had water damage. He recommended me to find a carpenter to take care of the wood siding, and scheduled his work so that I could contract a carpenter to do that. Jeff kept in touch, calling me daily while he was on the job. Throughout working with Jeff, what I appreciated most was that he clearly thinks about the best solution for his clients, and not about just getting the job done as quickly as possible. Overall, I am completely satisfied with his service, and I would contract him again. I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone with similar masonry work.
Description of Work: Jeff rebuilt the masonry steps at the front porch of my house, which were sinking because of bad water draining. Upon his suggestion we converted the four 4-inch steps into two 8-inch steps, which made them so much easier to take. He also suggested to replace part of the wood siding on the house, where the old steps touched the wood and had caused rot. Finally, he took care of landscaping around the steps as well, digging a drain next to the steps, removing old shrubs and reseeding the lawn after the drain was installed.

Description of Work: Jeff did an excellent job repairing a number of things on the exterior of our 1927 craftsman bungalow in Roanoke. He and his team replaced the brick on our previously leaning chimney, pointed a number of holes in the mortar on the exterior brick, patched and repaired the front concrete steps of the house, and repaired a number of chips and cracks on the foundation. They also dug a drain line from the front side gutter to the rear yard.

+ -1 moreJeff and crew showed up when promised and performed a marvelous job. My wife and I couldn't be more happy with the end product. Jeff was onsite everyday and completed the job in a timely manner. He always kept us informed of any status changes he foresaw, including calling when the weather was inclement and he would not be able to work. More importantly, Jeff was willing to work with us and help us in determining the best path to completion for our project, with Jeff's help we determined that the previously planned planter beds to be built on our front porch would actually be a distraction. He gave us this advice knowing that he would lose the opportunity to build those for us as previously agreed to. In doing that, and many other ways, it showed that Jeff is proud of his work and is more interested in completing the job to everyone's satisfaction than just getting the paycheck. We are awaiting Jeff to come back and clean the brick work and remove his equipment, but I expect that to happen in the next few days and will report back with that information as well!
Description of Work: Veneered a 20' x 30' concrete front porch with paver bricks. Built a brick knee wall to separate porch from driveway. Built two 4' brick lamp post columns, plus another half column to dead the knee wall into against the house (his idea). Built four 3' brick columns to support new front porch roof construction.

+ 4 moreMr. Dame and his crew provided skilled and beautiful masonry work at our home in addition to the great cement work at a competitive price. Mr. Dame and his crew are professional, dependable, hardworking, polite, and accommodating. Mr. Dame always had time for our guestions, provided excellent advise and design ideas, and is so nice! Our experience with J&D Masonery was stress free and the job was a complete success! We would hire, and are, Mr. Dame again and highly recommend his company. Description of Work: Mr. Dame and his crew expertly: 1. Graded, formed, poured, and fine broomed finished 2 curved, cement sidewalks with planter display areas and a large parking pad which are beautiful, Installed drainage pipe under parking pad, 2. Trenched and covered electrical and water ditch from house to barn with great skill and clean-up, 3. Laid and grouted beautiful rockwork on entire foundation of house, 4 columns, back patio 3 sided short wall, and large retaining wall, 4. Built, including excavating, beautiful paver retaining wall, 5. Built, including excavating, beautiful circular paver wall for landscaping, and 6. At no extra charge, moved 6 large cement squares, removed and repaired a secton of an existing paver wall, "owner installation mistake," and cut masonery block for owner project. We have contracted Mr. Dame to built a cathedral height, stacked stone fireplace wall and hearth in our living room because of the beautiful work he did on the outside of our house!!!!

+ -1 moreI called Jeff from Richmond and asked him to go over to my ninety year mother's house to provide an estimate on replacing her brick stoop and steps. He was one of three contractors to provide estimates. He not only was able to analyze the very bad condition of the 60 year old stoop and steps, but offered a sound plan of action. DO get multiple estimates- it really shows you who knows what they are talking about and the range of pricing that goes on Jeff not only works as a craftsman in this field but understands how to work with his clients. Jeff made sure my mother was not inconvenienced. He is a person to be trusted and I would recommend his work to anyone.
Description of Work: The 60 year old brick stoop and front steps leading up a hill to the street were replaced. Old crumbling brick on a powder thin foundation were ripped out, new foundation laid, and new brick installed. All this would have been completed in two days except for a rain delay. Very efficient - brought two helpers and the work was done professionally and quickly.

JEFF DAME, THE OWNER CAME OUT AND GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE THAT WAS REASONABLE AND DESCRIBED THE WORK TO BE PERFORMED AND I AUTHORIZED HIM TO PROCEDE. WORKERS ARRIVED AS SCHEDULED AND COMPLETED THE WORK AND CLEANUP IN APPROXIMATELY 3 HOURS. THE WORKMANSHIP WAS EXCELLENT AND I WILL DEFINITELY USE THIS COMPANY IN THE FUTURE.
