Description of Work: "Everyone I spoke to at Woods Family was friendly and helpful. A valve in my boiler was leaking gas and had to be shut off for repairs. The work itself was done quickly, and we have not had any problems since the work was performed a few weeks ago. My only complaint was with regard to the amount of time it took to receive the replacement valve and how communication was handled during that time. The gentleman who performed the initial inspection told me to expect 1-2 business days. Even considering it was during the week of Thanksgiving, it took almost 7 business days to get the part and install it; inspection was done on a Monday and part wasn't replaced until the following Tuesday. When I called for updates I was told that they could not tell me when the part would arrive, they would call me. I thought it was weird that I can order a toothbrush from Amazon and get a tracking number for it, but they can't track a part that's involved in a $400 repair? All in all, it was satisfactory. Work was done correctly at what seemed to be a reasonable price."

Description of Work: Initial call, lady surmised possible cause of failure of AC, and was correct. |She gave the expected day/afternoon for the repair and said there was a slight possibility they could come earlier. They called on the day promised, reconfirmed my needs and the estimated time of arrival. Technical was very professional, efficient, and thorough. I'm very pleased!

Description of Work: Troubleshot heating; Replaced defective valve corrected thermostat wiring 1st fl (new house -former contractor error); and adjustment to second floor heating control. Use Angies list $50 off coupon paid $200. This was the second visit. The first was for the same unit -AC. Leaked all fluid $770 to replace valve and refill. This time no charge for the valve or refill. Note: Valve not Woods issue -manufacturer issue.

Description of Work: I used the services Woods Family Heating & Air Conditioning for heating & A/C. I last used them in January 2012.

Description of Work: I called and asked them to do a preventive maintenance for my two heat pump units. After inspection he informed me that my air handler in the attic was rusted through and needed to be fixed. If it wasn't fixed the water could drain into my attic and cause water damage. I was ok with the fixing of the air handler but he told me that we would also need the outside unit (heat pump) replaced at the same time for them to be compatible. My unit is 13 years old and he informed me that they usually last between 15-19 years. I didn’t want to replace the heat pump since it was working properly and could possible work well for several more years. He said that to replace the air handler in the attic I have to replace the heat pump. He was very professional. He took his time telling me what was wrong and took a picture with my camera of the unit in the attic for me to see. He checked both heat pumps but only charged me the one. I just didn’t feel that I wanted to replace the heat pump if it wasn’t necessary so I called and got another inspection and this company informed me that I didn’t need to replace the heat pump and they could make the air handler compatible so I went with them.

Description of Work: Woods Family has been servicing my air conditioning unit since I bought my home in 2007. My outside unit is very out dated and they have worked with me to keep in running until I can afford to replace it. I am planning on calling them in the spring to replace the unit. They are extremely friendly, efficient, and the price has always been reasonable. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone. They were also very fast with response time.

Description of Work: I'm hard to please. I'm an electrical engineer by trade and I'm very picky about whom I do business. I won't let dummies work on my home. After hideous experiences with Blue Ridge Heating (Christiansburg, VA), I found Woods about two years ago. Since then I've bought about $11,000 worth of HVAC equipment from them, plus I use them for routine maintenance of my boiler. Are they perfect? No, but they try to be. At the slightest complaint, they roll a truck and, guess what? The technician actually listens to me! After the service, I get a call from either the owner of the company or from the service manager to make certain that I'm satisfied. I recommended them to my next-door neighbor after her compressor failed on the hottest day of the year. Her regular HVAC company told her that the compressor had seized and that she'd need to have a new compressor and a matching air-handler. Woods showed up and found a stuck valve in the compressor. They replaced the valve (from parts on the truck!) and recharged the refrigerant lines...and told her that her system was nearing the end of its life and she should start planning to replace it. Bill? $105 including house-call, part, and refrigerant.
