It went fine -- the service guy came on time and checked out my aging Rheem gas furnace. He warned me about a possible problem that might require buying a new furnace but did not try to sell me one (so I have no reason to think his assessment is inaccurate). Took about 45 minutes (reasonable for this service). That's about all there is to tell. Since I wasn't down in the crawlspace with him I can't vouch for what he actually did but, as I said, I have no reason to think his work was anything but good.

We found the tech rep, Scott to be very professional and thorough and feel that we got a great deal.

Service man was waiting in the driveway when I got there to meet him. We have used Woods for almost ten years now. They replaced three older units for our house with new Trane systems. They have always been punctual and described everything that would be done prior to any work. Jeff is usually the one who comes and he is very friendly and conscious of keeping the work are clean when he comes in to do the inside maintenance. I have no qualms with any work they do and highly recommend them.

We've used Woods twice now, and both times they arrived on time. They answered all our questions about the work they needed to do for repairs and also the many questions we had about features of an annual service or maintenance contract. We were told we'd be contacted by Woods to schedule future appointments, and we were. The technician was friendly and careful to clean up at the end of the job. We are allowed to request this same technician on return visits, which we like since we feel having the same person on every service call or service appointment, they know our equipment and previous history and they know us instead of starting over with someone new. We have been very pleased with Woods to this point.
Description of Work: One of our AC units was not cooling sufficiently so we placed a service call to Woods. We were pleasantly surprised that they could come the day after we called to check things out. Our AC unit was leaking freon. The technician cleaned the unit and added freon. We discussed the pros and cons of having an annual maintenance agreement for both our heating and AC units (we have two of each). Since we had had previous experience with another Company, the prices quoted for a service plan seemed reasonable. We used a credit voucher currently available on Angie's list to apply to the service call, and by buying the service agreement that day we saved some additional monies.

I contacted Woods after receiving a special discount email from Angie's List, purchasing an Early Bird Furnace Tune-Up. It had been a couple of years since I had our furnace checked because I was unhappy with the service and pressure from a Woods' competitor. Jeff Woods could not have done a better job of making me feel relaxed about this service visit. He was extremely professional and did a thorough exam of the furnace. He even went a step further in cleaning the burners. He checked the boiler, burners, heat exchanger, electrical and cycled the boiler. Jeff did not pressure me to sign a maintenance contract, although I will definitely call Woods on a yearly basis to provide the furnace tune-up before winter. The $69 price tag was also a very reasonable price to pay for peace-of-mind before using our gas furnace this winter.

My AC quit working in the middle of the night on Friday night. I called one company at 8 am the next morning (Sat). All I got was an voice mail message. I then called Woods Heating and Air. Someone answered the phone right away. I told them the problem and they said they would page a repairman and have them call right away. The repairman called within 10 minutes. He told me what the initial service charge to come out would be up front. I told him I am a member of Angies List. He told me that he would give me a $50 discount off of the repair. He was here within one hour and had the AC up and running within 30 minutes. He was very courteous and professional. I plan to get an estimate for a new system in the near future. I'm grateful for their prompt service, otherwise it could have been a long hot weekend with no AC.

Service representative was professional and helpful. We were so impressed with his work, we decided to go with them for the next three years!
Description of Work: Air conditioner has a leak; needed $348. Freon. We took a 3 yr. service contract. Thoroughly cleaned and serviced the unit. Provided upkeep information. We bought this home 12/2012 it the units probably hadn't been serviced regularly in recent years.

This was a horrible experience... First of all I used these guys because of their great ratings on Angies List. When I initially called them it was for a secondary estimate as I had been told that I needed a new furnace and A/C unit. They were prompt to not only come out and look at the existing equipment they even got the old a/c up and running temporarily until I could further look into the new installation. A "salesman" was able to come out that same night and confirmed that I did in fact need all new units as well as they would run new lines from the inside unit out. We a greed on a price and they even subtracted what I had paid for the service earlier that day from the total. The installation occurred 2 days later and is where the problems arose. It was a solid all day installation as predicted... I was told the installers would arrive around 730 that morning and they were an hour late (which in turn made me late for work). Upon completion of the job the installer said he needed to show me where the filter to the furnace went (kind of obvious but I went along with it) , after showing me that as well as subsequently the new unit he shook my hand and thanked me. I was never showed the outside unit, never showed the lines, and never went back to the thermostat for any maintenance functions. I was stupid to not insist to see all of that until he left but I walked him to the door and then proceeded to look around myself. First problem I found was outside the new unit was sitting on a black plastic platform, nothing bolted down and completely uneven. After further research I have found that "bolting anything down" isn't always the norm but to have a piece of equipment like that able to be pushed leaned on or easily moved is not quality that I expect. The platform it was sitting on was placed over the previous round cement slab and looked about as sturdy as plastic crate. A quarter inch of the platform was actually resting on the patio and not even level on the dirt like the rest of it. In addition to that there was a piece of white aluminum siding formed into a conduit running from the ground up on my brick outside wall covering the new lines. I have NEVER seen a makeshift covering of sorts to cover exposed refrigerant lines much less one that was as obnoxiously ugly as a piece of siding screwed in vertically to brick. The makeshift conduit wasn't straight and did not even reach the top of the line where the hole in the brick had been drilled for the lines. I was never asked about any piece of ledger board in my deck being cut to accommodate the lines or covering nor would I have allowed such a sloppy look as what I found. Due to being able to see the hole in the brick where the lines where coming out I went inside and looked up in the ceiling to see what it was sealed with... much to my amazement there was no insulation,foam, or any sealer of any kind around the hole that had been drilled. Daylight coming through the hole and almost enough room for me to stick my finger in with the lines in there as well. A perfect entry for not only insects of any kind but for COLD or HOT air which I would've thought is completely contrary to the business of who left it that way! There was a giant chunk of insulation left hanging out in my storage room above the media cabinet that had obviously been either forgotten or just ignored. One of the smallest yet funniest things were the pull string light had been broken or jammed at some point during the install which would have been fine... but instead nothing was said to me and to get the light off since the cord was broken the bulb was simply unscrewed a little bit until it turned off. Not the kind of QUALITY in any aspect of the job I was expecting for 8000 and all the high ratings they had received. I immediately called the salesman I had dealt with and let him know I wasn't happy and would like to meet him to show him some of the problems, he insisted he didn't need to see them and began asking/explaining the reasoning behind or for all the problems... excuses! From that point forward it has been inconsistent phone tag with a technician coming out one time to straighten the outside unit on its platform. Aside from that it has been the most worthless experience and further raises my eyebrow at the value delivered these days. I don't expect the world but when your paying that much money to someone that does this for a living these are quality assurance things that shouldn't have a problem being addressed and more specifically should not be happening!!!!! I will not recommend to anyone and if your reading this review and still planning on using Woods I would at the very least document these problems and ask the salesmen before hand about this.
Description of Work: Installed a new central air unit inside and out as well as a new furnace. They ran new refrigerant lines as well from the inside unit to outside.

Three years ago we were pleased and proud to be able to be able to purchase a brand new Trane air conditioner/heat pump and become one of your customers. Your staff has always been polite, courteous and as helpful as they can be. We lived in Florida for 16 years - the last 10 in a villa that had a Trane air conditioner/heat pump. We knew the product to be creditable, reliable, and great performance. We are not pleased with the air conditioner/heat pump currently installed at our home as it has been troublesome since the first day it was installed. First - there was a part broken at the time of install. A new part had to be ordered and we were without air conditioning waiting for the part to come in. When it arrived, the installer somehow broke the new part, and he a found a replacement from another conditioner just to get our problem resolved quickly. We were grateful for his efforts. Since installation, we did not understand why the air conditioner worked well as long as the outside temperature was below 90 degrees. But in the 90's - it cannot keep the inside any cooler than 80 degrees. So we have placed several calls over the past couple of years and have received multiple explanations - including - it is working just fine, and with the temperatures in the high 90's -how can we expect the air conditioner to keep up? The most recent service call on last month - we were told that a valve is bad - it keeps sticking - and will cost us $1082 to repair. Let's consider this - we bought a new Trane 3 years ago to the tune of $3500, and now we have to come up with another thousand dollars to fix it? We think it was broken beginning the day it was installed. Also, last week when we called, we had a coupon for $45 off service calls, but your staff refused to take it, but he did take $10 off. Called in another air conditioner man and he found the only half of the coil was working. I am sure this has been the problem the whole problem since your company installed the Trance. We have lost faith in the product because of the defects and have lost faith that your company is able to diagnose and fix the problem within the initial warranty period, even though we had you come out multiple times. I have had a new air conditioner installed by someone else and it works great even on 100 degrees days .

I liked that they came out. They weren't the cheapesr but I felt they were the most knowledgeable. They really knew their stuff. They put in a really n ice heating and AC system, they were really professional. They didn't try to sell me stuff they didn't need. The work was excellent and done very nicely. I'd recommend them to people.

I did not use the heat pump for approximately a week after the freon was added and when I did, there was no heat. Not what I would call a slow leak. Waste of $350. Both service people that I dealt with were very nice. I used Woods in the past and was very satisfied with their service. It was the price of the insulating that sent me elsewhere. If I had accepted their estimate I would have been credited for the $350 charge from the initial visit, but even then the other was a better deal.
Description of Work: I called them to check out my heat pump - no heat. They said I had a slow freon leak and added freon for about $350. They made arrangements for someone to come out to give me an estimate on a new system. I believe they came out that same week. The estimate for the heat pump system was only a little higher than what I ended up accepting with another company. The reason I did not go with Woods was because their price to wrap insulation around 15' of ductwork was ludicrous - $1000?!?! The company I used charged me $275.
