Neat Sweep

John arrived and got right to it. He looked at the original cap with me and said he could reinstall it, but it would be very susceptible to coming off again because it's shape had been distorted when it fell. I opted for a new cap. He knew his job and quickly had the cap replaced. I was pleased to have the job done and done quickly. I will do business with Neat Sweep again when needed in the future. The only minor glitch in the whole process was that John was to arrive at 0900. I thought it was the first job of the day and expected him at 0900. At 0915, he hadn't shown or called so I called the office. They said he should be on his way and he arrived 5 minutes later. No big deal, but a call would have been nice.

Our contractor, Corey, came first to inspect and to remove a bat that was trapped in hearth area. (He gently removed it and took to the woods). He inspected chimney flues and caps, determined a need for mortar repair, as that is how bat got into flue. Returned as promised the following week and made repairs, painted caps, and took picts for us. It was 100 degrees the day he went onto the roof! He was very gracious and professional the whole time, and never complained. He took a the time to do the job right, despite the heat. Very impressed and would use this company again, esp. Corey. May I also compliment the lady that helped me when I first called.

We had to call them twice to get a response and get an appointment setup. They came on a Saturday without any additional cost, as I think they are off on Monday so Saturday is part of their regular work week. He was very friendly and polite and answered all our questions. (First house with a fireplace.) He showed us how to use it and how to operate the flue. He found several additional items for repair. Some he could do right away, but some larger ones he had to come back for, so we just told him to do it all when he came back. He did a good job of cleaning up and was patient with me as I fumbled around the new house looking for my checkbook.

They were very quick on scheduling and we had the same guy come out that did the chimney sweep. He was scheduled to put on a new crown and cap in addition to fixing the fireplace mortar and bricks. Unfortunately, our roof is really steep on the top of a 3rd story and the chimney was over 6' above the roof line. He tried but was unable to reach the top of the chimney and perform that service. Instead, he just fixed the fireplace mortar and bricks. He even called another worker out to our house to help him and evaluate the situation. After review, they decided that they would need to use a "cherry picker" to reach the chimney. He called the boss and they gave us an additional cost of $150 to use the "cherry picker" for this job. However, they said if they couldn't reach it with the "cherry picker" we wouldn't have to pay the additional charge. We don't blame them for the cost to fix our chimney, it is what it is. They have been most helpful and very informative on everything they are doing and what is happening. We had to reschedule the crown and cap for next week.

All good. On time, did not leave a mess.

I had been in this house for 2 years and decided it was time to use the fireplace. The technician inspected it but said that it was clean so he didn't have to do anything as far as cleaning. He also explained to me how the chimney draws the air from the rest of the house so I need to keep the door closed to the den. I would never have known this as this is the first house I have bought with a fireplace. He was very professional, courteous and was in and out in about 15 minutes.

They showed up on time and I hardly knew they were on my roof. Excellent and professional company to deal with. Am very satisfied.

The chimney sweep showed up right on time, explained what he was going to do, showed me the pictures he took of the inside of the chimney and did his work quickly and efficiently. He covered the hearth and made sure there was no mess or dirt in the house. He was quite knowledgeable and very pleasant (although he didn't look a bit like Dick Van Dyke, nor did he sing or dance!)

It went very well. The gentleman showed up right on time and was easy-going and professional. I was quite surprised that the vacuum he used did not cause any typical industrial vac smell in the living room even though it ran for a good 15-20 minutes. He went up on the roof to inspect the cap, etc; and when he returned, he gave us the exact same assessment provided by our home inspector just six weeks earlier! That really solidified our trust in Neat Sweep. He cleaned everything up excellently, charged exactly the price we were quoted, and was on his way.

They came in and were out in about 20 minutes. They were very professional.

They came as quickly as they could and they did a good job. They were friendly and knew what they were doing. Some of their mannerism were disturbing to me though.

Excellent service. The technician arrived promptly; he worked quickly and completely cleaned the area where he worked. He provided a detailed, written report - commended us on the installation of the wood stove and the cleanliness of the chimney.

Excellent, outstanding, and 10 on a scale of 1-10! I called their main number and asked if they could take a look and give me a quote without my having to be at home. A couple of days later I had a quote waiting for me on my front porch. I scheduled an appointment to have the work done, mailed in a check and on the appointed day I arrived home to find a very professional-looking chimney clean-out door. I really, really liked not having to be there. I trusted them by sending in a check and they lived up to my trust by doing an outstanding job.

Neat Sweep is listed as a mason but only does minor work and repairs. It shouldn't be listed as a mason. Nice but no cigar.

I purchased my home last summer without having a chimney inspection performed first. Before having my first fire in the fireplace, I wanted to see if the flue needed cleaning and make sure everything was in good shape. I called Neat Sweep about ten days in advance of when I wanted my chimney inspected. The inspector came out right on time on a Saturday (for which Neat Sweep does not charge extra, although they are closed on Mondays). The whole thing lasted about 20 minutes, as no cleaning was necessary. The inspection was $79.00 -- if a cleaning had been required, that would have cost $99.00. The inspector was very pleasant and commented on how well the chimney was constructed. He also showed me how to operate the damper. I'll definitely be calling them again for next year's inspection, especially since they will come out on a Saturday for no additional charge.

Overall, no complaints. They were on time, pleasant and seemed to do a thorough job.

We had lived in our home for over 2 years and use our fireplace regularly during the season. We decided to have it checked to prevent a fire in the chimney. They did a good job at a fair price. I would gladly recommend them to others for the good job they did for me.

I am super satisfied! I found out that I had a carbon monoxide problem in my basement and the HVAC people who came to check the water heater and furnace realized that I had "stuff" inside the chimney. I called Neat Sweep on Friday morning and told them I had an emergency (it was about to snow and I had no heat since I had to turn the gas off.) They were great as they came the next day, on a Saturday to clean the chimney and install a new chimney cap. Chauncey, the sweeper was clean, very friendly, worked hard and arrived between the times I was given. While it took him a while to get rid of the clog due the large problem, he persisted until he got it all. He did a nice job cleaning up afterwards and since he left, my carbon monoxide issue is gone and I have heat again. He even turned the furnace on for me and help me get the water heater lit again. I would definitively recommend this company. Thanks to others for their reports as I got the recommendation from Angie's list.

They offered either a morning or afternoon appointment rather than a specific time. That was somewhat inconvenient, as both my husband and I work, but since my husband works close to home we asked that they call his cell phone when they were on the way. They also sent a reminder postcard and made a reminder phone call. The work was done very neatly and efficiently.

It did take three weeks between phoning Neat Sweep and they being able to do the job. They sent a card confirming the date and time of the appointment. They were efficient and helpful when the representative came. They performed the inspection and cleaned one of my chimneys. They also informed me about mortar work, and quoted for that work, which again would take some time before they could do it.

I called and got an appointment in three weeks. The receptionist was very pleasant and helpful. Two days after making the appointment a postcard arrived in the mail to confirm the appointment. They called two days before the appointment to again confirm the appointment. The employee arrived on time and got right to work. He laid down a drop cloth to make sure everything stayed clean outside the chimney. He did a good job and cleaned up after himself well. I will use this company again.

Neat Sweep has worked for us for years. They are good about coming on time and doing the work quickly and neatly as their name would indicate.

They come out once a year with their fine tuned inspection kit, but before doing anything, they set up barriers and devices to catch or contain any loose soot. Usually, it takes about a half an hour to an hour, to do the inspection and cleaning.
