Mind In The Gutter

I recently purchased a foreclosure which is a two-story colonial, built in 1988. The home was vacant for over a year and a half, and the gutters were chock full of debris, including pine trees sprouting from the back 2nd story gutter. When I saw Mind In The Gutter's deal on Angie's List I checked out the deal and then their website (since the second story gutters look a bit daunting to get to). The company looked great so I called them to schedule gutter cleaning, and because I saw on their website that they install siding, windows, and roofing, I also asked if they could check out a small hole in the siding and give me an estimate for repairs. I mentioned that if they were able to trim back the pine tree limbs or give me a quote for that, along with a quote for their special gutter covers, I was very interested in them returning to perform more work if it all went well. The scheduled cleaning day rolled around and I came home from work to find the gutters looking the same as the day before. I called Mr. Powers, and after checking in with the crew I was told they'd come the following day because they were hung up at the previous home. Totally understandable. I reminded him that I'd appreciate it if they'd call me with estimates/quotes for the other work. He was very courteous and friendly. The crew did come the next day and cleaned the gutters. I realized several days later with a rainstorm that they hadn't cleaned some of the down spouts out... including one that leads from the second story to drain over the back door, which in turn drains to the first story gutters. The part that bends into the first floor gutters was clogged, so dirt leaked out over the door until the rain stopped (and snow that followed). I finally got up there on a ladder and cleaned it out. Not too bad, but they missed some of the front down spouts that were also clogged with soil-like debris, which I ended having to empty. After the rain and snow ended, I found that the hose bib/water was not turning on (because it wasn't turned on just inside the crawl space door). I then wondered if the Mind In The Gutter crew needed to turn on the water and use a hose to better clean the gutters; but wouldn't they have called my cell phone to ask about water if they needed it? They did not call. They also never called back with estimates for any of the work we discussed. I kind of wonder if they didn't go all out on the cleaning because I got the Angie's List deal, and so perhaps they didn't make as much money. But that shouldn't be the case. They have such great reviews from other customers, but I would not use them again and I would not recommend them to anyone.

I called Ethan with Mind in the Gutter late on Thursday evening. By Saturday morning he had a crew out to my home in Ashland who made quite work of my gutters, including some I've never cleaned for my own safety. I would use them again and recommend them.

Did not show for scheduled date on 1/25. Weather was a factor, but could have called to reschedule. I called on 1/28. Said they would come next day at 10:00 AM. Arrived over 1 hour late, but I was very satisified with their work. I Might use again but I don't think I would recommend them to someone else.

Very routine gutter cleaning.

I called them,got a price. Price was competitive. Authorized them to proceed and they did work per agreement.

This company is HORRIBLE. First, I bought the "deal" on Dec 17, 2012 but they couldn't schedule me until Jan 10, 2013. Then, they call me on Jan 10 to say they need to reschedule because they were behind on jobs for other customers. This should have been my first clue to bail, but i'm an easy going guy so I say sure and we reschedule for Tuesday 15 Jan. So, Tuesday comes and they don't show or or call. So, I call them in Wednesday 16 Jan and ask what is up and they tell me that they don't work in the rain. Ok, fair enough but I tell them they at least should have called. Their response, I should have known that they don't work in the rain. Really? So, I ask when they are coming out, and this is my favorite part, they tell me, "when the weather permits it." Seriously!? That could mean spring! Who knows!? So, I call them back on Friday 18 Jan, as the rain had stopped on Thursday to ask why they hadn't come that day. They gave this lame a** exuse that they thought the roof would still be wet even though it was 60+ degrees out and my roof gets 100% sun all day. Anyway, they say that they will come on Tuesday the 22nd around, "mid-morning, 1030-ish." Yes, they actually said 1030-ish. Now over that weekend Richmond had a few inches of snow, but by Monday my roof was completely clear and dry. So, they show up Tuesday morning around 1000-1015 and tell me that they are going to check to see if my gutters were frozen, as the temp had dropped pretty low overnight, and that if they were frozen that they would have to come back when they had thawed out. Again, this might mean springtime. Anyway, the two workers, who by the way looked like a couple highschool drop-outs wearing hoodies no uniforms, nametags, nothing, stayed about 2 minutes (no exaggeration, literally about 2 minutes) and then just drove away. Now I have a clear view into my gutters from my 2nd story windows so I check them out. Not in any way frozen! Just full of perfectly dry, non-frozen, dried leaves and debris. So, I the company and their only response to my complaint that their gus just left when my gutters were obviously not frozen was that they had been having a problem with frozen gutters. I mean completely ignored the fact that my gutters were not frozen or their terribel service. If you use this company you can expect terrible service, missed appointments, and lengthy delays for them to ultimately do nothing. Then you get to fill out Angie's stupid refund form, designed to discourage you from trying to get your money back, in order to get your money back.

Had a couple of weather delays to include one 'we'll be there' but they didn't make it. They were professional and did a good job of cleaning but, as noted above, they didn't apply a wash cycle. That left the question of how well the downspouts were cleaned.

Company responded right away and scheduled a time to clean the gutters, even though no one would be home. When they could not make the scheduled time, they promptly called and asked to reschedule for the next day, saturday, 12/22/2012. The job was completed without incident, and when I returned home all gutters were clean and the surrounding areas showed no evidence of gutter residue. Will use again.

Did a good job. Could have done a little better with the clean up afterwards but overall they did well.

They were very prompt and efficient. They performed a thorough job.

Workers arrived promptly and got to work cleaning out the gutters, which had been overflowing during rainstorms. They worked quickly and discovered that, in addition to leaves needing to be cleaned out, there were some pieces of roof shingle that had slid down into the gutters right at the locations where the overflow was occurring. These were remnants from a roof replacement that had happened the previous spring. An estimate for replacement of the gutters was part of the deal, and that was provided. I decided that was something I did not need, and there was no pressure applied for me to have it done. I appreciated that, as so many companies will try to pressure you into a high-priced job like that. They completed the whole job in about a half hour, and were professional and polite at all times. I would not hesitate to call them again. The company name provided additional amusement value! My delay in submitting this review is due strictly to my own absent-mindedness and not to any problem with the service provider. Thanks to Angie for providing a reminder.

They showed up on time and completed the job in an efficient manner. I would use them again.

I bought a "big deal" from Angie's List for a gutter cleaning. I had never used the company before but they had good reviews, so I went for it. It worked out great! I called them right away, got through, and made an appointment in about 5 minutes. They scheduled me for a week or so out, which was fine. Because I had already paid for the big deal there was no need for me to arrange payment or be there when they came, which was convenient for me. The day of they came out but the rain forced them to come back the next day to finish. They called right away and let me know it was too slippery & dangerous and they would have to come back. I was fine with that. They came, cleaned, and were gone. The gutters look fine, though I haven't gone up on the roof to do a close inspection. There is nothing in them that I can see though and the water is definitely flowing better than before. So, I'm quite happy and feel like I got a good deal from a great company. Thanks!

They did an excellent job. They were on time and worked fast. They not only flush and clean the gutters but they also blew Pine needles off my roof. They left none of the debris behind.

Their customer service was great. They arrived on time and the price was great. Our gutters were extremely full and they did a great job cleaning them out thoroughly and cleaning up after themselves and removing the debris on the ground

It went fine. They were able to do it without me being around, which was great. I didn't receive an invoice because there wasn't a bill, and I'm sure if I pushed a little harder I could have gotten something in writing, so no fault to them. All communications were done over email, which really is a positive thing for me, where I get little opportunity to talk on the phone during the weekday. I noticed on my house that a gutter bolt had fallen out. It would have been nice if they replaced it (actually it just fell out and was below the gutter, on the ground), but I know that wasn't part of the deal. Also, I would have appreciated some kind of status of the gutters: how clogged were they, any squirrels or other wildlife, etc. Good company; will work with them again.

Three employees from Mind in the Gutter arrived promptly for the scheduled service. They came to the front door and let me know they were here. They had ladders and buckets to remove the debris. They informed me that the gutters were very full of pine needles and showed me the filled buckets as they were working. The only place they didn't clean up well behind themselves was on our deck. I had to sweep it after they were gone. They let me know when they were finished and leaving. I was very pleased with all things related to their service until we had a heavy downpour and a couple of the downspouts seemed clogged and were overflowing at the top. I would have given this company an A+ rating if they had checked the downspouts for clogs. My husband had to get out his ladder and reach down into the downspout and pull out pine needles to unclog it. I hired this job out to avoid having my husband get out his ladder to clear the gutters himself. It wasn't as time consuming as cleaning all the guttering would have been, but it does seem like it should be part of the service. If we had owned the home longer we might have known some of the downspouts were clogged and I could have asked Mind in the Gutter to check them.

Two men came out to clean gutters even though it had started to drizzle. Have gutter guards on gutters but lots of stuff looked like it was coming out of gutters and gutters in front overflow with water making iciciles when it is cold, which is usually NOT a good sign. Told me the gutters were clear and they had tested the downspouts to be sure they ran free. Told me what the problem was and how to fix it myself (without getting on a ladder) so as not to have to pay anyone to come out again! Unbelievable in today's market; he did not have to tell me anything except they had done the work! I was, needless to say, happy with them and would definitely recommend them.

They cleaned everything up when they were done. Very pleased with their work.

We have a big house (4000+) square feet so we had to add a little extra due to the size, They showed up and in no time they had finished. Great job, fast service.

Went great. Took a couple of weeks to be slotted, which I was fine with given the deal. Ethan was responsive to my questions. As this was a new house to me in the Richmond Fan, I had no idea when the last time the gutters were cleaned. Water was pouring off the side of the house when it rained; I asked Ethan via email to pay particular attention to the location in question. It's obviously hard for me to inspect the work but the next time it rained, water was no longer pouring off the side of the house.

Two Mind in the Gutter staff arrived in a timely manner, cleaned the gutters and roof, and removed the resulting leaves, etc.From the ground, everything looks wonderful. I obtained the services of this company through an Angie's List offer. My experience from the time I placed the call to the completion of the work was very good. I'll use this company again.

Our gutters needed to be cleaned! I had what looked like small plant growing in the front of my home! Two m en came out and cleaned them out in no time. I counldnt have asked for a better job. They were on time, professional, friendly and quick.Great job!Thanks!

The gutters were cleaned well on the first service call. On the second visit the gutters were securely bracketed to prevent sagging.

I give them an A rating and I will use them again.
