We used these guys to swap out our oil burning furnace in a 200 year old house a few years ago. They did a fabulous job then. It came with a free cleaning and inspection for 2 years. That was perfect. This year (3 years later), we needed it cleaned and serviced again. We also needed our HVAC system (on the newer addition of the house) cleaned and serviced. They did it all. Cleaned, serviced, inspected, certified. Great job, for a great price. A+

The price was a little higher then some other quotes, but the service made up for the extra price. As you know, you get what you paid for. I waited just over a year to write the review because I wanting to see the cost difference in my electric bill. The diffence was 50 to 60 dollars less each month. Within a couple years I'll while have saved the money that the other companies quoted for their price. The employees were friendly and they worked around my schedule. They did a thorough job, then did an extensive follow-up.

I called Air Conditioning Specialists (ACS) when the condenser on our air conditioning unit wouldn't work. Of course it was Labor Day, which was in the mid-90's with high humidity, so most places that I called were closed. ACS, who was highly rated on Angie's list, agreed to send a technician out to look at the problem that day. The technician arrived promptly and was professional. He inspected our unit and told me he identified the problem, which was a burned starter (?) in the unit. This would cost about $200 to replace, but he had one on his truck and could install it right away. This seemed like an easy fix and we would have cold air in no time. After installing the starter (and the first $200) failed to fix the problem, the technician did a little more troubleshooting, and discovered the condenser fan motor was inoperable and needed to be replaced. As our unit is 19 years old, the part was not readily available and needed to be ordered. This would cost approximately $500, and they would overnight the part when ordered. The technician suggested we make an appointment with a "Comfort Consultant" since our unit was nearly 20 years old. He did NOT identify any other specific issues with the unit. He told us the money we spent to repair the unit would be deducted from the price of a new unit if we chose to purchase one from them after our consultation. The technician come out and installed the new fan motor a couple of days later when it came in. The "Comfort Consultant" came out the day after the fan motor was installed and gave us a quote for an entirely new unit ($6,200 +). It turns out the money we spent to fix our old unit ($730) would NOT be deducted from the cost of a new unit, although he did offer as a small discount. As the old unit was working, and I didn't have $6,200 laying under my mattress for a rainy day, we passed on the offer. By the end of the week, the weather turned cool and we turned off our AC and opened the windows (we love this time of year). Fast forward to last week when it got hot again, and we reluctantly turned on the AC and closed the windows. When we noticed the fan was blowing but no cold air was coming out of the vents, we called ACS, who promptly sent the same technician out that installed the fan motor. The technician inspected the unit and told us all of the Freon had leaked out of the unit. He informed my wife that there was corrosion on our condenser unit which probably affected the Freon coils underneath (probably complements of the dog peeing on it), that might be the source of the leak, but he would have to run a systems diagnostic check, which would be expensive. Repairing the leak and replacing the Freon would also be expensive. All together, the total cost could run $2,000 + to repair a 19 year old system. My problems with ACS: 1) The technician replaced a $200 item which he said would fix our problem, but didn't. That was $200 that likely didn't need to be spent since with a little more investigating, he discovered the fan motor needed to be replaced. I still feel $200 is a lot of money. 2) The technician gave us information about discounting the price of a new unit by the amount of our repair costs which turned out to be false. 3) At no time during the initial inspection did he point out the corrosion and identify this as a potential problem, as a professional should have done. This could have allowed us to make a more informed decision about whether to proceed with the repairs on the old unit. In the end, I spent $730 to "repair" a unit that provided 5 days of cool air before dying. I expect more professionalism for my money, and would not hire Air Conditioning Specialists again. Nor would I recommend them to anyone else. I will give someone else a chance next time.

This company did get right back to me after I called, sent a salesman, and arranged to start work on our system right away since we were scheduled to leave on vacation. The crew that did the installed were so professional and respectful of our home. My only dissapointment with this company is that after getting our money and doing the install they have yet to return to do the system inspection that we were suppose to get two weeks after to be sure the system was up and running properly and set up a maintenance program. We feel that after spending a large sum of money to us that should have been as important as getting our business! I called their office and the person I spoke to told me they could not schedule that any time in the near future! When I asked to speak to the owner I was told that she did not know where he was but that she would email him and ask him to call me - I have yet to receive that phone call! I do now have an appointment for that service. In summary I can say that we are happy with the product even though we havent had the inspection, the install crew was awesome, the management and office staff leave a lot to be desired.

Can't sing their praises enough! Did not try to sell me more than I needed, did exacty as discussed and even sent an inspector out at a later date to make sure we were happy with the system. They even went so far as to put shoe covers on before coming into the house. Do not buy a system from anyone else until you talk to these guys. I almost guarntee the best price and certainly the best and most reliable service from them.

I was extremely happy with this company, I have had to use them a couple of times, both times they were very prompt, responsive, the technicians were professional and very friendly. They went above and beyond and worked into the night to fix the unit. I am very happy with your services!

They did a very thorough annual inspection and maintenance to the system. They gone through a whole series of procedures on checking the compressor and air handler. They did a great job on the installation. They're very honest.

We came home from vacation to find our air conditioner was not working at all. I had Air conditioning specialists come take a look at it. It was then determined that with the issues we were having would be very costly to repair. We decided it was in our best interest to have the entire unit replaced. Chris Kitchin came to our house and evaluated what type and size air conditioning unit would best fit our needs. We decided to upgrade to a slightly more expensive unit than he recommended because of the 10 year parts and labor warranty. It was also an added bonus that they refunded the money we spent on the diagnostic fee when we decided to replace the unit instead. It was installed a few days later and we haven't had any issues throughout the summer. I'm very happy with the purchase we made as well as the service we've received.

They were patient waiting for my new appliances and working with gas inspector. They were thorough, and never cut corners. I would not hesitate to call them again.

This project began when our 20 year old heat pump upstairs was not cooling, even after a tune up. It ran continually and it would stil be 80-82 degrees when we went to bed, and would rarely get below 76. We got 2 companies from Angies List (Hawkins, Air Cond. Spec.) and 2 recommendations from friends (Smith&Keene, Sun) to come out and bid the upstairs system. We do not plan on being in the house for more than 5-7 years more, so we went with a 13-14.5 SEER range for bids, whatever the sales rep said was the best fit. ACS recommended a Trane 2 ton 13 SEER pump with a Hyperion XL variable speed air handler, which they say ups the SEER to 14. I wanted to get the NEST thermostat, which they didn't offer, but they did offer the latest honeywell that comes with a WIFI connection. We love the system - it cools the upstairs completely, keeping it at 70 in the evening and 74 during the day. Its very quiet, both the outdoor unit and the air handler and air coming through the vents. The thermostat was the easiest I've ever programmed (literally took 1 minute) and can be controlloed from my iphone. Cost for this part - 5884 We had also been having issues with moisture coming off the old ductwork in the crawlspace because all of the insulation had come off over 30 years. It was a mess. ACS replaced the entire duct system for a 2100 SF area for $3397 in 2 days. Very clean, very quick, air flow seems to have improved. I will have definitely ACS back to replace my doenstairs unit next year. We are very satisfied. June 2014 - As an update, the heat pump stopped cooling recently. The tech came out at 10PM, and very quickly identified the problem and did a temporary fix. They came alst night and replaced the malfuntioning part, all at no cost. The repionse was very prompt and professional. I highly recommend them.

It turned out very well. We have ongoing service contract with them. They did a very good job. They were very timely. They cleaned up the mess and they were responsive when we had some issues.

A very capable and pleasant technician arrived. Identified the problem and returned it's function within 40 minutes of arrival. He advised us on future area that would cause a problem. He was extremely professional and competent. I would definitely suggest this company in the future.

After several bad experiences with another A/C company, Air Cond. Spec. were a breath of fresh air. Came out within an hour of my call on a Monday morning. Found my problem immediately (hole in my coils, leaking Freon) performed a temporary repair. As my unit was nineteen years old, suggested a new unit. Salesman was out that afternoon, inspected entire house, even crawled into crawl space under house and showed me several options for a new unit. Once we had decided on a unit they were there within two days to install it. Even had them send out their Master Electrician and installed a ceiling fan in living room. Installers were very courteous and quick, had new two ton heat pump unit installed before house even got hot and it was 95 degrees that day. Sent a comfort specialist out the next week and he inspected entire installation and did temp. checks throughout house. They even wrapped my old ductwork under house to eliminate leaks and brought me two boxes of new filters. Best of all for all of this detailed attention their price was better than two other companies I had called. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company to anyone needing A/C or electrical services.

The salesmanship was knowledgeable. There was no pressure sales. The salesmans followed up with a thank you card for allowing him to come in and talk about his product. The installers arrived on time and stayed until the job was finish. The installer ensured that the installation was as complete as possible and the unit was working as advertise.

Their estimate was too expensive. I disliked the fact that they told me it will be $70 for the diagnostics but they charged me $120.

Arrived before the schedule time frame completed the preventative maintenance, verified the generator was working properly and even washed the outside of the unit to make it look like new.

The work went fine, it was satisfactory. They did a good job.

They were a big company and I have used them before, years ago, and I called them up and set up a thing and they came out. Everything seemed fine. They charged me $150 for the spring and the fall. So, I have got a free check coming in the fall. I was satisfied with what they did but I do not know if they are any better than the other guy. They were there on time and they were courteous. I did not see any problem with them at all. I really do not have a feel if their pricing was fair or not but I paid it and I am sure that they are fairly close to the price of other companies because it was just a maintenance check. They did not use any supplies or anything but they were very thorough and they checked everything. The quality of their service was good and their professionalism was very good.

We noticed our outside heat pump unit making a strange noise when starting up last night. A couple of hours later it made a strange noise when starting and running. By 4 AM this morning it was not functioning and we turned it off. I called several companies from Angies list this morning around 9 AM and John Cartwright from AC Specialists got back to me within a few minutes. He arrived around 1045 when he said he would and diagnosed and replaced the bad capacitor within a few minutes. The part was $186, but tomorrow during normal business hours they should be able to refund the part cost because the unit is only 4 years old. They just need to speak to the manufactuers rep first. The labor was $31 for the weekend diagnostic fee (normally $100, but they honor the free diagnostic $69 coupon even on the weekend) minus a discount because I signed up for their annual service plan ($215) while he was here. John was very professional and courteous and always put on shoe covers when walking in the house. I'm happy we've found a realiable AC repair company as we'll soon be moving out of state and renting out our house.

Great job. An actual person answered the phone when I called..didn't go to voice mail. Was able to schedule same day service which was great because had been without AC and it was 90 degrees. Service was prompt, on time, technician was professional, knowledgeable, helpful. Repair completed within 15 min. Replaced part that was clearly past it's lifespan. Would highly recommend this company..I will need a new system within the next few years and will positively use this company for that work.

The team that installed the system worked great together. They replaced my older system with a much more efficient system in just one day. I was very impressed with the quality of work and the city inspector even stated it was one of the best installs he has seen recently. I'm glad I invested in a quality system and service, well worth the investment.

I brought 4 companies into my home to give me estimates and recommend systems. My home is 15 years old, and the system that was installed by the builder never properly cooled the house, and my electric bills were very high. The first company diagnosed the problem, and informed me the best fix was to replace the system. The quoted me what turned out to be the cheapest price, but never took measurements to see if there were problems and if the system I had was the right size. The next 3 companies were all very thourough, but A/C specialists stood out above the rest. The saleman was very knowledgeable and took his time. He determined that my duct work was sized wrong and that the air flow was improper because of it. After almost 2 hours of inspections and explainations, I was presented with a system that would not only meet my needs by would exceed my expectations. I brought in the other 2 companies after this, and as soon as the last company left, I called A/C specialists and set an install date one week later. The price was excellent and included an outstanding warranty and which includes parts and labor, and 2 seasonal inspections. The day of the install, a 3 man crew showed up on time and got right to work. They were all very friendly and worked non stop till lunch time. They took a short lunch break and were back to work. The entire system was installed in 8 hours, and they left with my house spotless. They covered all the carpets they would be walking on with tarps, and even re-installed the attic molding perfectly. They tested the system and in less than an hour, my home was down to 74 degrees and it felt wonderful. They even left me with a full years supply of filters. Today, a quality assurance specialist came to my house to inspect the entire system, check the pressures and make final adjustments. He checked everything, and made so minor adjustments, and explained fully how the system works and some suggestions for better operations. My saleman also came today to bring all of the warranty paperwork and the registration paperwork which they had done for me. I have never been more impressed with a company in my life. Get all the estimates you want, but if you are looking for outstanding service at a fair price, and people that stand by their work and appreciate the customer, I am very sure you will choose A/C Specialists.
