Julio is bad at communication and didn't show up at the designated time. These are red flags I wouldn't recommend this contractor

Our project was fairly extensive and involved the removal of a large white oak tree that overhung the house and chimney. The 100 foot tree was just under a hundred years old, with a diameter of about 30 inches. Initially I had planned to have it removed and the stump ground. I had also projected to have four additional similar sized trees removed later this year as separate jobs. I requested a number of bids from companies on Angie’s List, including one from ET Landscaping and Lawn Care, Inc. Julio Escobar, President of ET Landscaping, stopped by on short notice and provided a very competitive bid regarding the single white oak tree mentioned above, with a very attractive combined estimate for the white oak as well as the four additional trees which I had originally budgeted for some other time later this year. Based on the Angie’s List reviews for ET Landscaping and Mr. Escobar’s combined bid for all five trees, I selected them for the job and the results were well beyond my expectations. Mr. Escobar’s crew was exceptional and had obviously worked together for some time. There was no lost motion or time as they worked on the five trees. The tree climber and ground crew worked as a team to avoid any damage to the house and yard. Coordination of personnel, equipment and timing by Mr. Escobar was an excellent example for any business manager. The impact on the yard itself was very minimal and the post-work cleanup was very well done. I should also mention that the job included a verification of the location of any buried utility lines prior to work being initiated. Having had numerous large tree removals done over the years at multiple locations in Virginia, I rate the pricing and job performance of ET Landscaping as the best in my experience. They would be my first point of contact for any future tree removals.

Everything went very well. Julio showed up promptly for the original estimate. The estimate was well within my anticipated budget. Julio and his crew arrived on time on the day or work and completed the work quickly. They left the area completely clean and looking great.

We had an overgrown mess in the front of our house, with a small, slate slab walk. We had everything removed, including two trees in the front (as well as 3 dead trees in the back). Julio and his crew did a wonderful job of recreating the look of our front yard. The new paver walkway and landscaping looks great, completely changing the look of our house. The attention to detail was very impressive. I would highly recommend this company.

Julio is the best! Our yard was full of weeds and our trees really needed a good “hair cut”! Julio always treated customers’ gardens as his own. He would consider all the factors for you and came out with a full scale of plan which has long term result. That’s the reason why we keep hiring him!

Did a good job. After a Storm our grass started to move. We had a slope we were trying to fix from a new driveway pour. They came out the next morning and fixed it. He wanted to make sure we were happy and satisfied.

Julio and his crew did a great job. Quoted yesterday, work performed today. Cheaper than others from who we had received quotes. Conscientious work on a huge volume of leaves and are quite satisfied.

Terrible!! I called Julio, he was very kind, and asked me to please send him a text with all the information. I sent him my name, address, contact numbers, and requested work be done as noted above. I sent him a second text to let him know I got his contact information from Angie's List. I never heard back from him. Very unprofessional. We purchased our house 2 years ago and have a huge yard with a LOT of plants. We had several estimates done, but ET was the best priced for the time. Julio met with my husband and said he could get the work completed in 2 days max. Every other estimate said at least a week and were therefore more costly. We chose this because we wanted in completed in the least amount of time plus we were able to get a dead tree limb taken care of. WOW! they completed it in 1.5 days and it looked great. Our neighbors were impressed and our yard looked great. We highly recommend and plan to use them again in the future!

My mom's mouth literally dropped like a Saturday morning cartoon. I had talked to 3 contractors previously who all said they could not pave under my deck due to the steep incline. Julio's team did great work on my patio, and while he was out to do some yard work I brought it up to him and we a range of options and costs. He never said something couldn't be done, but he was up front with the costs associated with different courses of action. We decided on a plan, and the end product is BEAUTIFUL. I had planned on waiting until the spring, and am SO HAPPY that I brought it up with Julio and pulled the trigger. Him and his team had great communication with me the entire time, so it was a great experience as well as a great product.

I had previously talked to 3 contractors about installing a patio, and got quotes from two of them. By the time my HOA finally approved the work, the contractor I chose was no longer able to fit me in a reasonable schedule. I called Julio out to do my yard work, and explained my situation. We had a detailed and productive conversation about what I needed to achieve, which was fix the POOR drainage in my yard. We discussed a rainbow of options, their prices and consequences. I found it refreshing to NOT have a contractor try to force their solution on me. In the end, we decided on a patio that was part of an overall strategy to address the back yard swampland, meaning it required the rerouting of sprinklers, sump pump drainage, and gutters... all for about the same cost as the smaller patio I had previously agreed to. Not only is the patio BEAUTIFUL, but the yard is successfully draining and drying. Julio's communication at every step of the process was punctual and professional, including follow-ups after the job was done. There have been multiple headaches with buying this house, so I am DELIGHTED to have found someone I can trust with the quality of their product and their concern with their customer. I look forward to working with him again.

Outstanding job by the team of professionals that worked in our yard. Especially impressed with the safety aspect of topping trees and bringing them down without damaging other trees or our new garage (a large tree was split at the base and hanging over the garage). They showed up on time, worked throughout the day and thoroughly cleaned after each day. I was expecially impressed that Julio stayed in contact with me when the team could not make it due to weather, I would recommend them to anyone, and in fact I have and they were used.

Julio and his crew are wonderful! They created a walkway to my backyard and upgraded my backyard by planting different plants. It was so professional done with limited time frame, we decided to hire him again to do our front walkway. Julio explained to us why our old walkway kept collapse in the past and provided the permanent solution for it. The walkway is so beautifully done and we are very pleased. We will recommend Julio’s company to anyone we know! Thank you, Julio!

I originally purchased a deal from ET Landscaping for a 4 person tree crew for 8 hours, and it went really well. Julio and his team showed up promptly, cleaned up numerous trees and left a clean yard when they were done. I've used them several times since for more tree clean up work, removal and general landscaping clean-up. Julio's team is courteous, professional and they do good work. I will be using them again.
