Description of Work: We chose Speeks to install heat pump 10 years ago. The system worked well, the company performed twice yearly inspections as per our contract, we were satisfied for 10 years. In May of 2012 the air conditioning failed, and thus began a series of calls and service calls to Speeks. After 3 visits and 3 rounds of complete freon filling, did the tech finally agree with me that the problem was a leak, not a sticky switch and various other quick fixes that required expensive refills of refrigerant. Service calls were hard to arrange, it was a hot summer, I often waited 2-4 days for service and got only quick fixes that lasted for a few days. When I finally said that the unit needed replacing and asked for an estimate, they agreed, provided an estimate and said that the price was discounted by part of the service fees I had paid. i got other estimates, that were less for the same product, and went with another company. In Speek's defense, I will say that Speeks tried several fixes, that is was a hot summer and service demands were probably high, one of the techs seemed to be new, and that as one tech pointed out, I live 'across the river' making it out of the way for their service techs.
