WG Speeks has worked on our home for years. Great local company and they've never let us down. We get a text reminder beforehand and even pay online. Can't recommend them enough.

I been using them for 20 years now, I been satisfied with them. They are very helpful, they let me know when someone is coming and let me know when they are on their way. They come when they said they would come.

I had a house built in 2017 and the ac/heat unit was installed by W.G.Speeks. We had several issues early to correct the undersized unit and they somewhat fixed it. Now its two years later and I came home to a cold house. I called them about the problem. They told me the unit is under warranty. Sounds good right??? The dispatcher called me and said it could be fixed in 7 mins and it would cost me $320.00. Thats unreasonable. The dispatcher was rude and thought it was funny that I had such a easy problem to fix and that they would make $320.00 off of me. Do yourself a favor and call around before you use this place. Im getting the same work done by Stanley Quality Systems for half the price.

The technician was extremely knowledgeable and professional. He took his time and did as thorough a job as one would want. Very nice person as well.

They do an excellent job. I would highly recommend them. Very responsive.The technicians are always very polite and professional. They clean up after themselves. They are also very reasonable. I've used them for 30 years. They are very good. Family owned company. They were very responsive because it was very hot. It was like the hottest day of the year. They were working already in our neighborhood. They came right over. I didn't have to come home from work. They are very reasonable. They are very professional. They are very responsive. I never had to call them back again because it wasn't fixed right the first time. We have some big companies here that are very good but they charge an arm and a leg just to walk in the door. Speeks has not done that. I would highly recommend them to other folks.

They are a good provider, just a little expensive.

The service turned out great. We have used them for years, since the mid 70?s. I would say that their price is average, they?re not high and they?re not low. I had an issue one time with one person, but that person doesn?t seem to be coming anymore. I guess they took care of that. We sign a contract track with them every year to do the spring and fall checkups. They?re very professional. They clean up after themselves. They usually come into your house with booties on. They don?t always tell me that I need to change the filter. We have this big high efficiency filter up in the attic. It?s not your regular 1 inch filter, it?s about 4 ½ inches thick. They could come in and say, ?you need a new filter, that?s will be $85!? They don?t do that. They tell me when it?s dirty and we change it. So, I guess you would say that their integrity is not of question. Our air conditioner here is about 12 years old, and the heating system. I noticed a lot of my neighbors getting new air conditioning, but I asked Steve specifically when he was here just a month ago, ?it?s getting a little long in the teens, how?s it was looking today?? He said, it looks in very good condition!? I said, ?do you see months of service or years of service?? He said, ?I think you?re okay!? So, they?re taking care of it. By the way when I first moved into this house, I had another company come here and they told me I needed new coils. Well guess what, those coils are still there and it?s still working.

The 1970?s is when we first started with their servicing. They had put in a new air conditioning system in a house that did not have air conditioning. Then we lived in the Greater Richmond and used them till the year of 2000, so that would be about 25 years. Then we moved down to the Williamsburg area for 12 years, course we didn?t have them then. Now that we have moved back to Greater Richmond, we have them again. So, I guess you would say that we?ve had them all total of a little over 30 years. I?m thinking that the contract was $150 a year. What that covers is service and adjustments. I was here for this one, I wasn?t here when they came in April. The guy was courteous, he was professional and he answered all my questions. The cost of the contract is $150 a year, so it?s $75 a visit. I don?t know what grade to give them for the price because I have not been able to shop. When I moved here we did shop for air conditioning people. We had a couple of different people come and assess our air conditioning and heating system. We just went back to Speeks because we had confidence in them, but I also do not recall what the charges were for the other companies. So, I can?t rate it. I don?t think the price is outrageous, I think it?s acceptable. In all honesty, I have not gone out and gotten a bunch of estimates from other people. As far as quality, everything is running, I?ve never had a failure. I?ve never had to call them in an emergency. I always call them to schedule their service visit, it?s usually a week to 10 days, sometimes 2 weeks. I?m satisfied with their service, the responsiveness I should say. I?ve never had to call them with a break down, so I cannot really comment on that situation. They are always right here when they say they?ll be here. They usually call you an hour or so before they get here. I?m very satisfied with these guys, I?d give them an ?A? in almost every category. I?d recommended them for sure. I have confidence in them, like I said, professionalism. They have timely service when I want to make an appointment with them. I?m very happy with them. The only thing that I?m not sure of is when the time comes for me to replace this air conditioner, like I said all my neighbors are doing it, and sooner or later mine?s going to fail. I?m not sure if Carrier is the only product they carry. I?ve been okay with Carrier in the past, but I?ve noticed I?m a consumer reports nut. So, I?ve noticed that Carrier is kind of in the middle of the pack for mechanical reliability. So, I don?t know.

It’s like $85, it’s not covered, it’s something additional. I have enough confidence in them to say that they would not tell me to change the capacitor unless it needed changing. So, I feel fine. I haven’t gone out to canvas the industry to find out what a capacitor of that amperage would cost. So, I’m assuming that the price is reasonable. I don’t have anything to compare it to, but I don’t feel it was outrageous. I’m an engineer by education and profession, so I know a little bit about capacitors. I’m not an electrical engineer, but I was a mechanical engineer. I would know about the quality, I wasn’t here. My wife was here at that time and I was not. I can say, I mean it’s still running. I’ve had no mechanical or electrical problems with the air conditioner. I didn’t see it, I didn’t talk to the guy, I don’t know, I can’t say. It seemed like a reasonable price and it’s working. I would give them an “A” for most anything. I am a very satisfied 35 year customer.

What keeps me going back is all the things I ratted an “A”. It’s professionalism, it’s reliability, it’s integrity, it’s all those things. I’ve gotten to know all the workers. It’s like I walk in and say, “oh hi, it’s been a while since you’ve been here, blah, blah, blah! It’s good to see you again!” That kind of stuff. They’re friendly people.

Excellent service fast and reliable would recommend them for jobs related to AC systems

We have had them maintain our units for some years. They came out last week for bi annual maintenance - no problems! The very next day we discovered that the ac was no longer working. Called Speeks- they sent out another tech. They said coils froze and we lost 3lbs of cookant. Cost to fix approximately $3599 and $121 for service call the day after our annual maintenance. Additionally, the supposed new replacement unit for a lemon from Bryant put in our new house which they spent several years trying to get fixed or replaced turned out to be a refurbished unit. Therefore, if we cannot trust their word or service we will not be able to use them in the future.

I bought a programmable thermostat from Speeks on the advice of my contractor, Jim Poe. Long story short: programming this thing has been a nightmare. I had Speeks' men out three times and it wasn't until the third time we think he got it correct. He told my contractor that the Aprillaire programmable thermostat was the only one that would work with my heating unit. Now, with the Daylight Savings Time change, I'm back to square one. I had Speeks quote me two months ago for a humidifier but guess what?His salesman was a joke and this continued problem with my thermostat sealed the deal. Another Richmond, Virginia HVAC contractor will do the work. And, guess what? The new HVAC contractor told me that any programmable thermostat would work with my HVAC system. Speaks lied. The new HVAC contractor is going to give me a new one for free. So long, Speeks!

I had my heat pump go out in the middle of the summer heat. Called the company and from the first person I spoke to on the phone, to the last person who programmed my thermostat I was impressed. They seem to truly care about their customers. I would highly recommend this company. Very professional.

Called them early Sunday morning because I had a fairly major issue. They promptly returned my call and setup an appointment with me that day. The technician arrived promply and assessed the issue and fixed it. The technician took the time to explain what had happened and ways to possibly avoid the problem again. Also gave me some great pointers on how to notice the problem before it becomes a bigger problem. Top notch, I highly recommend. The fact that it was after hours and on a Sunday made the service that much better.

Mr. Boyer came to our house to look at our system and give a quote. He was very prompt, professional, and personable. He was very quick on his inspection and wasted no time getting started and heading out and was just as fast at getting our official quote to us. In the end we went with a different provider, but I would recommend W.G. Speeks to others in the future.

They are fine. They try to sell you extra products that are very expensive. My experience with them has been okay and I have no complaints. They are prompt. Their price is competitive with others. A lot of people in my neighborhood use them. I see their van around a lot. The people that lived in this house before me used them. That was how I got their name. I have to get them here to check the air conditioning because it is not cooling properly. They are professional. I will be using them as I have a contract with them.

Contacted company for an estimate on addressing a potential duct issue in my home. Initial call to operator did not go well as it seemed as if they didn't listen to what my real needs were. They instead tried to sell me a service plan and then when I tried to explain my uneven cooling/heating issue, they tried to immediately send a repairman out that charged 70 dollars an hour to adjust my dampeners. I then tried to explain further that I didn't need work done, but needed an estimate for a solution to my issue. I then finally got to talk to "Pam" in sales and I explained my issue. She told me that "Tom" would call me back to set something up, but I never heard from anyone from the company again.

Showed up on time. Worked at a solid pace. I think they broke a vent pipe as I had security cameras. It looks like they repaired it. I had to have them come back a few weeks later to replace a computer board. Overall very happy. Just a couple of gray areas ??

Had to emergency weekend service with a follow up on Tuesday. Technicians were very friendly and efficient!

It went very well. All the necessary paperwork was provided to me. Speeks registered the unit and gave me that paperwork, too. They did everything I asked them to do. The salesperson was very knowledgeable and easy to work with. She responded to my questions promptly. They were all very professional. I got four quotes before I choose Speeks to do the work. They had the unit I needed at the best price.

The service works out fine, we've used them for about 2 years. They appear to know what they are working on, I haven't had any problems or issues with it. They come out for preventative maintenance. They changes all the filters and our communication is good.
