Prep work was unsatisfactory. The power washer did not appear to be working very well. They scraped the siding fine but not the front stoop. I had paint chipping within 3 weeks of the job being done. Now parts of my window sills are chipping too. They did not put tarps down while painting and I have paint drops on my deck as well as parts of my brick. The owner excused this stating that there were already paint drops there, however that does not mean I wanted even more paint on my brick. Also no contract is developed so the price increased from the initial estimate. We also had to have the workers go back and fix caulking. I was under the impression from the website that they scraped off the old caulk (at least the clumpy parts) before putting new caulk around the windows. Instead they just caulked over an already very poor caulking job.

Rob contacted me quickly and we set a date for the upcoming Saturday. On Saturday Rob phoned to let me know the painters were on their way and to make sure they had all the supplies they would need. The two men were very nice, professional, and did an excellent job of everything they were asked to do. They had a wonderful attitude and were very pleasant to have working around our home all day. Their work was exceptional, just as good as I would have done it back in the day when I was able to do my own painting. I would hire them again without hesitation.

Mr. Hetrick was very responsive and helpful. The first job done was the removal of the wall paper in a downstairs bathroom. The painter from his team arrived on time and was very meticulous in removing the paper and patching the walls. He did a fantastic job of painting the room, and it is truly transformed. I then contracted to have Mr. Hetrick's team to paint the entrance, stairwell and upstairs hall. Mr. Hetrick came to the house prior to consult with me and see what I wanted. It took one full day to complete the job. The painters arrived promptly. This time there were two crew members. They were careful to remove fixtures, switch covers and the banister going up the steps so they could paint. They replaced everything and cleaned up prior to leaving. Mr. Hetrick then came by over the weekend to inspect the work and make sure it was done to my satisfaction. I couldn't be happier. It brightened up a tired, dated space. By and large, almost everything went very well. The painters did an excellent job both on the exterior and interior. Where we felt something needed further attention or fixing, they did it without complaint to our satisfaction. There was one occasion when we missed connections on work scheduling but Mr. Hetrick was always pleasant to deal with and did his best to accommodate us. We highly recommend his consultant on interior colors, whose suggestions produced the results we had hoped for. Mr. Hetrick's quotes were not as detailed as others that we received but his price was fair and we would not hesitate to use his company again or recommend him to others.

The owner was very responsive, the painters luckily were able to some within short notice, within a couple of days, the price was right, they used the paint I requested, and most importantly, they did beautiful, beautiful work. I work highly recommend them!

They were wonderful! The were always on time and did a terrific job. They cleaned up their tools and the area at the end of the day and were so respectful of our home. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Hetrick painting was easy to work with from start to finish. Our job was no easy task and took several weeks to finish. Rob's team worked tirelessly to complete the job to our satisfaction. Several times, his guys would repaint something if it did not look perfect. The price was very reasonable. The guys were respectful and communicated with us each step of the way. I think the fact that I purchased another deal from them means that they did a good job. He cleaned up after himself.

It went fine. I can't remember all the details because there was nothing that stood out. He was a good painter. He arrived on time and he gave us what we paid for.

They did an amazing job! Our deck was in terrible shape, so I am glad they could bring it back to life. I gave them a 'B' on responsiveness, because they seemed to take awhile to get back to us at times, and I thought the turnaround could have been quicker. They seemed to have been backed up on work. That is to be expected with any contractor I guess. We are going to use them again to powerwash and restain our fence in the Spring. I highly recommend Rob and his crew!

The Contractor has a very capable crew handling his work. The carpenters had to deal with several difficult issues and a lot of siding replacement. Throughout the process they were careful of the property, neat, responsive to numerous questions and very skilled in their work. After the carpenters had finished their work, the painters arrived and quickly applied the paint choices to all the applicable surfaces. These gentlemen were also extremely neat and did everything we could have expected. Overall a first rate job!

Excellent job on old house. We encountered unknown problems which Hetrick handled efficiently and timely. Rob Hetrick, the owner, called me every day during the job to check on progress and inspected upon completion. I offer the highest recommendation.

The painters arrived at 9:15 am with the paint and tools needed for the job. They worked until the painting was finished. It was about 7:30 pm when they left. They moved all the furniture away from the walls before they started and put it back when done. Professional in every way.

One of their men came out and removed rotted wood and/or tagged all bad areas that needed to be replaced or repaired. We checked these areas and added a few of our own. All rotted wood was replaced or repaired and everything was caulked with urethane caulk. The front porch rails were repaired and stabilized. The entire outside was painted. The contractor let us buy the paint and gave us his discount. We are very pleased with their workmanship, courtesy, etc.

I requested an estimate and received a response from Mr. Hetrick the same day. Within a couple of days, he came by my house to discuss the work and determine materials needed; he provided a detailed estimate before leaving. I had scheduled installation of vinyl windows with another provider in two weeks, so wanted this project not to begin until after the windows installation was completed. Mr. Hetrick said that was no problem and was able to schedule the carpentry, repair, and the painters to begin within a couple of days after the other provider finished. He required no down-payment and payment only after final walk-through on job completion. The painting team came out promptly as scheduled, power-washed the entire exterior and marked with blue tape where it appeared carpentry and repairs were needed. The head carpenter came within a day or two to look over the job and determine initial materials needed. He explained that as the assigned carpenter got into the work, he may find additional materials necessary and would bring them on his pick-up as the work proceeded. Within a few days, the assigned carpenter was able to begin. He was extremely friendly and professional and as his work proceeded, he discussed repair alternatives and associated cost, and he recommended best and most cost-effective solutions. Before leaving each day, he kept me updated on his progress and approximate start time the next day. If any schedule changes or in case of weather delay, Mr. Hetrick called to let me know. Due to additional carpentry and repair work needed and several days of weather delay, the assigned carpenter took a few days longer than expected. The painters did some of their work after the first couple of days of carpentry. They computer-matched my existing color scheme exactly. They interleaved their work with the carpentry work but stopped when it was necessary to have the carpentry and repairs finished before resuming the painting. After completion of the carpentry and repairs, the painters promptly resumed their work and completed in one day. They were very friendly, courteous and professional. Within two days, Mr. Hetrick returned for the final walk-through with receipts for all materials. Due to several days of weather delay as well as additional carpentry needed, the entire duration of the job was about a week longer than originally estimated. Due to the additional materials and labor, the final cost was somewhat higher than estimated. Mr. Hetrick went through all the receipts for materials in detail and explained the additional labor hours to satisfactorily explain the difference in the estimate and the final bill. Bottom line I am extremely pleased with this provider and extremely happy with the final results.

All the work was done fast and professionally Rob Hetrick is on my speed dial. My regular maintenance guy retired. I used to be an avid do-it-your-selfer but my work keeps me on the road. Hetrick painting does a lot more than paint. I plan to call them first for future decorating and repair needs for all my properties.

I originally found Rob through Angie's list. I immediately knew I wanted to use him. He responded quickly and had a very positive, cheerful attitude. I'm a Realtor and requested a quote on one of my vacant listings. My client had limited funds and relied on me to receive a breakdown of the entire costs. He was willing to give me multiple quotes, worked with me on a final price, was sure to follow up on multiple occasions to ensure the work was done well and that I was happy. I'd definitely recommend Rob to my clients and will be sure to call him in the future!

Contact made with service provider to work at a residential location North of Richmond. Tenant at residence was told and tenant's number provided to contractor. Several attempts were made to get the provider to the location but never seemed to work out. I would want to see the provider's work, now, before considering using them.24 Brook Road

It was a complete pleasure working with Rob Hetrick and his crew! I give them my highest recommendation.

We had some quality issues with the initial painting of cabinet doors. There were also some scheduling issues due to unforeseen worker illness. In the end, Rob made sure that problems were addressed and that we were satisfied with the work. Overall we were pleased with the job.

Hetrick's crew showed up 1st thing in the morning. They were extremely professional and took care to protect all my furnishings. They were spot painting an area of my ceiling and I was worried that the new paint wouldn't match the old. After it dried, I realized I was right. So I called Hetrick back and the crew came back the very next day and painted the whole ceiling again. Their responsiveness was so refreshing.

Rob we incredibly responsive. He came the same day for a quote and his schedule allowed him to start painting the next day! The quote was better than several other quotes I had received and his timeliness was appreciated. He was able to meet me in the evenings when I was ready to meet.

The owner Rob was fantastic and the painters were very professional. I couldn't be more pleased! I will definitely use their services again!

My experience started out very well...we had just moved here and decided to have a few rooms painted, instead of doing it ourselves. It was a last minute decision, and we were hoping to have the painting done before the movers arrived from Texas with our furniture. I responded to an AngiesList Deal and Rob called me immediately even though it was on a saturday...he was very attentive and thorough and was able to schedule us right away. The deal was for 2 painters, 8 hours each, $600. Going off of a previous experience with an AngiesList provider in TX, where we had an entire house (of comparable size) of trim, doors, master bath walls primed and painted, and large kitchen/living room ceiling all done by 4 painters in 8 hours....we were hoping to get trim and walls completed in 3 rooms, maybe some more of the trim in the rest of the house time permitting. Rob let us know this was a bit aggressive, but they would do their best. Our experience with the painters was not as positive. The quality of their work was very good, but this is where I learned to NEVER purchase labor by the hour. The painters really seemed to drag out the time...one stood around for part of the job to dry when there were other areas that still needed work, and he stopped immediately when exactly 8 hours was up, leaving part of a baseboard and half a door painted. The owner's daughter followed up the next day to see how satisfied we were. We explained our issues and she was very apologetic and did arrange to have one of the painters come back to at least finish the partial trim job in the kitchen. The owner also made great efforts to make sure that we were satisfied. Overall, we liked the owner and his daughter, and appreciate the effort they took to 'make it right' after the fact. The professionalism of the painters was disappointing, which is the only reason for the lower score. I wouldn't say to not use this provider, but I would advise to purchase by the room or by the job...and not by the hour, as it is very difficult to really know what will be completed in the allotted time.
