+ -1 moreJeff responded quickly to first call for a quote and got started a few days later. He removed the 20 year old heater/fan and installed the new one. This required a LOT of work since it called for a dedicated 20 amp line, not the 15 amp that was then in service. The second floor location caused him to have to put out a lot of effort to run the wiring but he got it all done, including running a new vent to the outside. Everything went very well! By the way, regarding cost, the fan that I had selected was some $300 and is included in the overall charge. They were able to pick up this model locally at a savings. :-)

+ -1 moreI called this afternoon, left a message, and received an immediate call back. I explained that we needed a bath exhaust fan replaced. He asked if I wanted a basic replacement that would run around $50 plus labor, or something nicer. I opted for the basic model, as this is a spare bath. He offered to send a workman out immediately. My mistake was not asking for an estimate, or at least asking what the labor charge would be. The workman, Mike, came as promised, with the basic model fan in tow. He had to do a little fitting work, but in just over an hour, the work was done, and all was cleaned up. He came in with an un-itemized bill, and said, "I called Mike, and he said $295.00" I was a little surprised, but wrote him a check. As I said, I should have asked what the labor charge would be, never dreaming that he would charge $200 an hour! I doubled checked the model of fan I got, which was indeed around $50. So it was an expensive lesson for me. Won't use this company again. UPDATE: Because we were so upset by the very high price, we called Mr Cole the day after we wrote this review. He promised to check with his workman and call us back the next day. Well, almost two weeks later, and a follow email from us, we have heard nothing. And he cashed the check. Well, he got his money, but no more business from us, or our neighbors!

+ -1 moreWhen they arrived, I assumed I would just be getting an estimate, but they said they could do the repairs that day if I wanted. I mentioned that I had to be out of the house by a certain time, and they got right to work doing everything on my list, and they finished in my time frame. I never did get that estimate, but I got all the work done and so I was pleased. It seemed kind of expensive, but I had not called for other estimates so I don't know if that is the case. Truthfully, I was glad to have the work done without having to schedule another appointment, so the cost was secondary to me at this point. When I use them again, I will ask for an itemized estimate and an itemized bill. The bill I received was not itemized, so I don't know the cost of each individual repair that was completed .

+ -1 moreI had already received a quote for the job by another electrician however I wanted to get another quote and got this company from Angie's List. I called them on a Thursday and the owner Mike said he would call me in the afternoon and come over to give me a quote. He called at 4:30pm and came over to the house. He said that the price of labor would be $800-1000 and the materials would be $400-$500. He said he would come over in the morning and get started at 7:30am. Overnight it snowed and I went to the house at 9am and they were not there, I waited until 11am and then called them to make sure they were still coming, they could have called if they were going to be late. They got to the house after 11am and started working. I went over in the afternoon to find out where we were with the price and he said he would have to figure it out but then couldn't come up with a number. I was then called at 8pm that they had finished the job and he sent Jeff his employee over with the bill. Jeff his employee was very nice and did a good job on the work. Jeff brought the bill which was $2940, the estimate had been $1500. I made Jeff call Mike and he said he had made a mistake adding it up and it was now $2340, since he had not brought over an appropriate invoice with a breakdown of the work and materials I asked them to email me one. Mike called Saturday and said he would email me the invoice on Saturday, I didn't receive it until Sunday night at midnight. Mike TEXTED me the invoice on Sunday evening and then called me when i said i wanted to discuss this face to face. He said he only gave me an "example" of the price not an estimate on the job. He was raising his voice on the phone and even used profanity with my husband. I eventually said I would only pay a specific amount and he agreed to it. The next day he sent Jeff over to pick up the check. Make sure you get a written estimate from this company.
Description of Work: Replaced electrical outlets and replaced aluminum outlet connections with copper.

We are pleased with the outcome. The job included removjng and remounting a complex double cantilever omni mount along with a flat screen TV. He also moved a light switch to make room for the mount on the stud in the new location.

Since he was there I asked for and received a quote for the installation of a floodlight for the backyard. The quoted price was reasonable and was installed over the next two hours. I found the technican to be courteous, patient and professional. He explained the options associated with the installation of the floodlight fixture, wiring and switch. Overall it was a very positive experience.
Description of Work: I called regarding a ceiling light fixture which turned itself on and off and I was concerned about the potential for a fire.

+ -1 moreThe job went smoothly and Mike was very willing to help us with other broken stuff (ceiling fan light fixture and fluorescent ballast) that was not a part of the original scope of work. He cleaned up after himself and gave us some helpful tips on our renovation.
Description of Work: We are gutting our kitchen and thought we could do the electrical ourselves. We realized it was a bigger job than we could handle, but we had to get the electrical done before our scheduled drywall work began in 2 days. We called Mike @ Cole (got him from Angie's List). We explained our situation and asked if he had anyone who could come out the next day. To our shock, he said no problem, he could have someone out to our place at 8am the following morning! Mike (another Mike) showed up as promised and worked a full day at our house. Not only did he do all the work needed in our kitchen, but he also did some extra punch list repair items that have needed to be done around the house for a long time. He was thorough, professional and did good work. My only complaint is that he left a small slice in the drywall next to a newly installed light switch. It was not a problem because I had the drywall guy coming the next day. If not, I would have been able to patch it when prepping for painting. We were just so grateful we were able to find a good electrician on such short notice.

+ -1 moreThe problem was discovered in early November when the light stopped working. Replacement bulbs didn't work and the entire fixture was hot to the touch. Later that day it started working again, but we stopped using the light due to concerns regarding a possible safety issue. We immediately contacted the electrician that we had used previously, and then a second electrician a few weeks later and didn't receive responses from either of them. In both cases, we provided a detailed description of the issue and indicated that we thought that it was a safety issue. After waiting almost a month for a response from the first two electricians, we finally joined Angie's list in an effort to find an electrician that would respond to our calls and fix what we knew to be a dangerous electrical issue. After reading the reviews, we selected Cole Electric and left a message describing the issue. Cole Electric returned our call right away and scheduled an appointment for the morning of the next business day. They arrived on time, assessed the problem, and provided a detailed overview of the issue. They fixed the problem quickly and in a professional manner. We will continue to use them going forward and recommend them without reservation.
Description of Work: Repaired unreliable recessed can light, which turned out to be a major safety issue because the inconsistent function was related to the fact that insulation had been placed too close to/ over the light fixture and the light was overheating causing it to shut off. The electrician identified the problem, thoroughly explained the issue to us, and removed the insulation that was covering the light fixture, thereby rendering the fixture safe again.

+ -1 moreI called Cole Electrical at about 11am on a Monday. They were actually able to come out that day. We had a few outlets that had stopped working. Jeff arrived, clean cut, polite and professional. He very quickly did some trouble shooting, and in a very short time, figured out the the breaker itself in the electrical box had gone bad. He went out to his truck and got a replacement and installed it into the box expertly and quickly. He then started trouble shooting as to why a different outlet on a different circuit was also not working. This outlet proved to be more involved and we opted to not pursue it further. Overall, a very good experience. I would recommend to my friends and I would definitely use these guys again.
Description of Work: Trouble-shooted why 2 outlets were not working. Replace circuit breaker in box. That fixed the problem.

Description of Work: I had a floor lamp that is 56 years old and is a family heirloom. I called about 1600 and he called me back (Mike) within an hour and he came over that evening at 2030. I was thrilled as I was going out of town and have wanted to get this lamp fixed for a long long time. The light was flickering and did not always come on without jiggling the light and then it did not always stay on. This light belonged to my parents and was one of their first purchases with their furniture in a new home in 1956. The socket was also loose and tilted and needed tweeking. This lamp has traveled from NY to Virginia to Pennsylvania and cross country for over 30 years and has traveled and held up well which just states how valuable and well made this lamp was back in the 1950s. Mike was courteous, kept in touch by phone to let me know when he would be coming. I was amazed that I made a call at 1600 and he called at 1700 and arrived at 2030 and my lamp was working perfectly at 2200. I was thrilled...It now has the three way bulb capacity it did not have before since there was a short in the wiring and the lamp shade does not tilt anymore. He had to take so much of the light fixture apart and was dealing with some pretty old parts. He was pleasant to be around and even enjoyed my cats walking around. What a nice guy...honest and sincere. It is so nice that my parents heirloom lamp is now functioning beautifully and not tilting anymore. I've waited months to get this fixed and luckily chose Cole Lighting one late afternoon and by 2200 the same day, the light is perfect. GREAT SERVICE. I gave him a B for price, but it was worth every dollar due to the fact that I called, he called and was here and completed the repair within a 6 hour timeframe...UNHEARD OF!!! Thanks Mike. He came on short notice and at night, yes, the price was worth it. I am sure I will be calling him again at some point for more electrical needs.

+ 0 moreThey responded quickly to our request for service. Worked us in as the last appointment of the day, arriving at 5:15 and staying until 7:30pm. The electrician was professional and cordial. The work was pretty basic and we felt that the price charged was high. We would use them again if we had a complicated electrical job. We were impressed with his knowledge, but $317 for 2 hours and 15 min including the trip to Lowes was more than we expected. Next time I would get an estimate first. The customer service and the work done was good.

+ -1 moreThis is were they dropped the ball, I called multiple times even contacting the owner Mike trying to get a estimate, finally Jeff called 10-05-2012 gave me a verbal price I asked if he would send me an E-mail, Jeff said he had I told him I did not receive it he said he would re-check and resend if needed. That was the last I heard from them period. I hired a different Electrician I received a better price and professional service from HOPE ELECTRIC! Call them.
Description of Work: I contacted Cole Electric for an estimate for work on my main disconnect 09-21-2012, Jeff Brickhouse called and came out, however it was dark by the time he arrived, he seemed nice enough said he would have to call for parts pricing the next morning and would call me the next day.

+ 1 moreI called to get an estimate for the work and they came out and performed the work that afternoon. They did a great job on all the wiring that needed to be done to move the cable from one side of the bedroom to the other. They then added an electrical outlet behind the TV and snaked the cable up behind the wall mounted TV as well. I also had a problem with a breaker, going to an outside receptacle, that kept tripping. They replaced the receptacle and it seems to work for a bit but the breaker still trips. I don't know what it would have taken for Cole to diagnose the problem. Everything seemed to work when they left. Two guys were here for about 2.5 hours.
Description of Work: We had an electrical outlet installed behind the TV mounted on the wall in the bedroom. We also had the cable moved from one side of the room to the other then snaked the cable through the wall behind the TV. In addition, we had an outside receptacle replaced because one breaker kept tripping.
