Merrifield Garden Center - Merrifield

The designer chose the plants without my approval (different color, different plants than the ones we had discussed at our meeting). My backyard looked sad and empty after the installation and to top it off, the workers broke our outdoor mosaic table, as they placed heavy vases on top of it. I called to complain. We received a refund for the table. As for the garden, I had to visit Merrifield in person again, met with another designer, personally chose the plants that I wanted, and then had the team install them. Basically, could have designed the backyard myself and hired a much cheaper team to install the plants. A complete waste of money.

The team was prompt and quick about their work. The backyard drainage issues have been resolved and the yard hasn't looked this good in years. I would highly recommend merrifield to get a lawn in shape.

They planned it with us. The people who came out that did the work were well supervised and did an excellent job. We are very pleased. It is really good. The price we paid was worth it. They did the whole yard. Their responsiveness was very good.

They have the best customer service. I was very impressed with their employees! I'm sure they're not the least expensive garden center, but it is certainly worth it. They fully stand behind their plants if anything goes wrong with them.

The nursery is wonderful and the landscaping is a little bit expensive. They were responsive to our issues but the communication was poor. I had to call and email a lot.

Phil, the landscaper was excellent. He was extremely professional, efficient, friendly and provided outstanding ideas and guidance. He was a pleasure to work with throughout the whole process. The pricing was fair and competitive. The shrubs and plants were healthy and so beautiful. His crew, supervised by Orlanda Lara, was outstanding. They all did an excellent job and I could not be more pleased with the result.

Even granting the weather this winter was extreme, our satisfaction with Merrifield has plummeted in the months since our project was completed last November. Several plants died from exposure to the cold. We had to and quot;houndand quot; the consultant (who had been so present when he was selling us products) to make a return visit to view the dead plants and discuss the warranty. New plants were finally provided at no charge, but with no notice of when they would be delivered and installed. A resident familiar with the project simply happened to be home when the crew came by and asked where to plant! The watering we purchased was then slow to begin, again with no coordination and no notice of a schedule. The new plants have now died and the consultant has not responded to repeated emails and phone calls. The HOA Board and landscape committee members, all volunteers with limited time, are embarrassed to have urged the membership of homeowners to purchase services from this company and will never do so in the future.

Excellent advice and Merrifield always makes it easy for a customer purchasing large amounts of sod, mulch etc.

Merrifield Garden Center is my go to place for buying lovely, well cared for, trees and shrubs (not to mention visiting Santa Claus).The representative was on time, brought the necessary measuring tools, digital camera, graph paper and photos of past jobs and plants. We walked the yard and I explained what we used it for, how much care I wanted to take of the plants, what kinds of plants I like. She then spent about an hour walking around and measuring and sketching. I then went over the sketch with her, asking questions, looking at photos of plants. The landscape drawing fee can be applied to future plants or labor for the landscaping project. I wouldn't think of doing a big project without consulting them.

Andrea Mains was the designer. She responded promptly to my initial request for consultation. Her service was not free, but I liked the plans she drew up. Merrifield was not the cheapest estimate I got, but they took care of EVERYTHING including the demolition, and permit, which was what I was looking for. In addition, at my request, they scheduled the noisey demolition for a period when I was away from home. Their crew also accommodated my request to complete one corner of the work first so another contractor could install a new AC unit. (AC was installed on schedule.) The crew leader, Jose, and his men arrived around 8:45 every day that I was there and worked hard until 5 or later. Andrea brought some plants to my home so I could decide what I wanted installed. There were some I liked and some we decided not to use. The large rocks that were used as accents in the corners of the flagstone are weathered and even have some moss on them- love it! There is one little thing that I don't particularly like- the color of one of the stone steps is a little different from the rest of the stone. Overall, I am extremely pleased with my new patio/yard. I plan to use them again next year. I had to call Andrea a couple of months after work was completed due to a slight bit of erosion of the mulch covering the new plantings. She had it taken care of right away.

This is where to go if you want free expert advice on anything garden related. The people are very friendly and knowledgeable and aren't afraid of referring you to anothor person to get the right answer. The selection of trees, shrubs, and flowers is overwhelming. The prices are higher, but I feel the expert advice, the quality grower, and the maturer plants are worth it.

We met with one of the reps and picked the plants that he had recommended, with a few changes. They listen to their customers wants and needs. A landscape plan and proposal was presented to us, we liked it, made a couple of changes and set a date for the job. Merrifield is huge, by the way, has more plants on site than anyone else, good quality as well, and they are so much easier than other people or firms in this area to work with. Too much "attitude", a lack of professionalism and knowledge, and prices over the top in others we interviewed brought us to Merrifield. Recommend them highly. We will definitely use them again.

The day before a snow storm arrived, I purchased and they delivered a 1/2 Cord or seasoned firewood. They provided same day delivery on that Saturday, even though they usually only deliver during the week, due to the storm approaching. The cost was a little more than 1 year old wood, but looks to burn better as well (I'm pretty sure its 3 yr seasoned). They dropped it on the driveway, with minimal mess.

I was excited to reach out to Merrifield because of all the positive reviews and they are well known in this area. I called a total of 4 times in one month and they never returned my calls. Every time I called someone would take down the same information because they had to fill out their and quot;slipand quot; then they assured me that someone would call me back. First call they said it would take 2-3 business das. I waited a week and called back and I was told they would call me. Third time I called I was told that the manager was very apologetic and they would call me back that day. No one called. Fourth time I called they tried to look me up in the system and couldn't find any of the and quot;slipsand quot; they had filled out at each call. I was transferred to someone in their landscape department who didn't answer. I left a vm and guess what, no one called back. I am very disappointed.

The folks at the garden center provided expert advice as I considered various options, and helped me select and tag healthy specimens. They called promptly to reschedule delivery when our first-choice date got rained out, then accommodated our request to change a second time due to dynamic family holiday plans. Third time was the charm--they called well ahead of time to verify we were at home, and delivered within their promised time window. High marks for professionalism. Plants all appear to be thriving.

Ordered a cord of wood and had it delivered same day. The cost was more expensive than competitors, but Merrifield had the wood in stock and was able to deliver same day. Merrifield's customer service is exceptional. I would definitely use them again.

Very responsive - they dropped the wood off the very same day. The quality of the firewood is great - it's well seasoned, in contrast to other vendors I've used in the past. It cost me about $40 more, but you're paying for better quality wood. I definitely plan to use Merrifield again.

Tom came back to spray Roundup on our grass (mostly weeds) and then a week or so later he and a crew returned with the plants. The crew prepared the soil and planted everything in a day (It's not a very big yard). A few days later, the crew returned to remove the dead grass and seed and cover with straw the grass area. Tom gave us directions for watering both grass and plants. As time has passed I have had a few questions which I emailed to Tom and he answered by the next day. So I feel I have advice whenever I need it. Most of the plants were in excellent shape when planted and have done very well. There are a few that didn't look so hot; however, it was a fall planting and some of the plants had already begun to lose leaves. All the plants are guaranteed for a year so I will wait until spring to see how everything is doing. For now the yard looks very good. Tom selected plants that would give us color for as much of the year as possible. We have a shady garden, and I think the plants selected will provide interest for all of the growing season. The grass is doing great; it's the first time we've had real grass. We are very pleased with the results. We chose Merrifield because they have a good reputation for quality. Tom was a big help in choosing the right plants for our space and sunlight. It will take time to know how well the plants will do.

We worked with Ms.Holt, a Landscape Designer at Merrifield Garden Center, to create a new landscape design for our front yard. Also, she assisted us with the selection of new plants and provided her expert knowledge and proper direction on all plant ideas that we had to improve our front yard, which was very helpful. In the end, the crew from Merrifield did a fantastic job. And, the front yard of our home now looks awesome!

Absolutely thrilled with the plant quality and choice and found Tom to be excellent to work with. I have worked with other landscapers and was disappointed. With Tom and Merrifield I keep appreciating his plant choice advice with every new plant blooming throughout the different seasons. The people who planted and installed the landscaping were clearly experienced and knew what they were doing. I would highly recommend them.

After some delay by provider in responding to my request for service everything went smoothly. Technician trouble shot my generator, quickly found the problem and ordered the part. When part arrived tech returned and installed charger. Problem found by Merrifield's tech was correct diagnosis of trouble. Another company wanted to simply replace the battery which they had installed 9 months earlier. They also told me that Interstate Battery would not warranty the battery. I found out this was a lie by checking with Interstate which told me the battery was warranted for 36 months regardless of application, i.e. generator. Merrifield did the proper diagnosis and completed the job.
