On the whole, the experience was pretty good. Everything was brought over and delivered properly and on time. We have used them in the past also and have been satisfied. The price is a little high, due to their high quality, but their services are as promised.

They did a great job planting the tree, it was absolutely fantastic. The tree specimen was very good. I was very pleased with that. I was not pleased with their landscaping design because I felt like they only used what they had in stock. They put in the plan things that I specifically said I did not want and they went and ahead and put them in anyway. It is not very expensive to have a landscape plan done by them, for whatever it's worth. They have a high quality of stock. If you like what they have, the quality of it is in good shape.

Their estimate for backyard drainage work was five times higher than the next highest bid. The man who did the estimate was erratic. He would recommend one way and then immediately change to something totally different. At one point, he suggested above-the-ground exposed drains with holes to let the water out. (I have a small backyard.) Huh? I had asked for a landscaping quote also, but by the time he got back to me a month later, he had apparently forgotten that part of the job. Just as well. I would never do business with Merrifield.

The staff provided good information as I selected my tree. I was surpiursed by the low cost of the tree but it was red tagged which brought the price down considerably. They helped me select a tree that would have the best chance of surviving and growing healthy.

Needed to plant in the bed where a large stand of Leylands were removed after being destroyed during the winter storms. James, as always was ever responsive. Replacing three of the roses that turned out not to be the yellow I asked for. Thunderstorms delayed the orginial planting date, but rescheduled for the next day.

The person on the phone was not knowledgeable and hard to understand. I chose another company for the firewood.

Amy was very prompt and I have been very happy with her. She is very specific and she was very prompt whenever I have needed information from her. They are such a big business that sometimes I do not get a call back as quickly as I like. Speaking of Amy only, she does get back to me in an appropriate time.

Lisa was a terrific help in coming up with a plan and suggesting plantings that fit the space and conditions (in my case, living with a large, hungry deer population that continually devastates most vegetation in the neighborhood, and a planting area with poor drainage). It took quite a while to get her out to see me, since Merrifield is so busy in the Spring. They are a quality company that stands behind its work, however, so I felt like it was worth the wait. I gave a low grade for the price because I do think it was a fairly expensive undertaking. The trees themselves (5-6 foot high) were $195 each, so everything, especially labor and materials ($330 for mulch , $350 for what seemed like a fairly small amount of river jack, 60% of total for labor), added up quickly. HOWEVER, the finished product is just what was described to me and the trees seem healthy (ones I might have bought at Costco and struggled to get home and in the ground might be long gone by now, considering our extremely hot summer). I did not have to lift a finger, and I know that Merrifield will continue to stand behind their work if I end up with a sick tree or some other problem. So despite the lower grades for responsiveness and price, I give them an "A" grade.

Excellent with absolutely NO problems. Very courteous personnel that clean-up at the end of every job. They make sure you are happy with the results before leaving and taking the time to do it right. I have never had to ask them to come back and "fix" anything.

They are expensive, but they are excellent. I spent $15000 on the job. It was a long walkway. Their boss was always with them and they were meticulous. There was a difference between their level of service and others, but they were expensive. I have used them before and I would use them again in the future.

The work that they did was excellent, but they were expensive. I buy plants from them every spring and fall. They once cut my cable line which was not a good thing, but I do like their service.

I spent a couple of thousand dollars on that service. I would rate them all an ‘A’.

it went well. unfortunately i was unable to be there, so the placement of the tree was not exactly where i'd indicated. in fairness, my location may have had problems. after 6 weeks, the tree seems fine.

I am in the process of selecting one of the other contractors.

Our yard is lovely and I get frequent compliments from the neighbors. I highly recommend Merrifield Gardens.

Superb job. Their landscape designer provides a free design if you end up buying plants from them. I think they sub out the hardscaping but it was done perfectly and on time. We worked with a designer, we finalized the design, and we had the plants delivered within a week. I did the installation of almost everything myself except for the large trees. They guarantee their plants. Merrifield is all about customer service and they have a huge inventory.

Tom came and evaluated the work that needed to be done. They install standard french drains with rocks exposed on the surface. Estimate was around $5K to $7K depending on whether or not I also had rock placed to line an existing ditch.

They sent someone out that was very knowledgeable. They gave us a good estimate. We moved, so we decided not to do the work.

I had about 5 different companies out to give quotes, and they were the most expensive. They were great in regards to quality and professionalism, however. I do still purchase my plants from them, and I think they have great product.

We had a checkered experience with them. The supervisor for the job was a very nice guy and he was pretty responsive but it took quite a while to get them out. Also, I feel like their price is a little high. They seem like a reliable company and overall, I’m pleased with the work they did. They have excellent product and they have a warrantee for the plants and trees that they've planted. I will continue using them until I find a company that is also reliable but has a better price.

They very responsive in giving me the estimate. They came out and then gave me the estimate. I needed water drainage in front of the house and in the back of the house too. Merrifield Garden is very specialized in the water drainage and landscape but not with the deck around the pool. It is very hard to find both of those. So I figured that I should go only with a company for the drainage. I have not had the job done yet. They were very responsive. The report was very detailed. I was impressed. They were quick but they were expensive. It is a big company. I did not trust them, with my opinion, to do the deck around the pool because some plumbing is required.

They are good. They have lot's to choose from. I think they are pretty good. I don't use many other places, so I am not sure about their price. They are very professional.

I didn’t like that it took for ever to get someone out here to make and keep appointments to get a design person out here. I really needed to get something started and I started contacting them in March and it was well in summer before I could get some one out here to do something. As a result some of the items didn’t survive the heat of the summer. I did like the final work that they did. In the front it was fine. They tried to solve the problem in the back by ripping out all the grass there which made the problem worse. However they did reside it and didn’t charge me for the residing. I don’t think I would recommend them to any friends because it was just too much aggravation dealing with the design person. I thought that it was over priced.

They were very professional and their pricing was reasonable. The landscaping person, who I worked with to get an estimate on the French drain, was very prompt in giving me the drawings with all the measurements.
