Description of Work: Provided design for replacement of landscape/plantings in front of house. Our designer visited our property and provided a plan (design and estimate) for renewal of landscape around our front porch and sidewalk. She mailed the design about three weeks later. We immediately approved the design and made a deposit for the work. Due to the popularity of Merrifield Garden Center it took 6 more weeks before the planting was actually scheduled but the designer was very responsive to our questions regarding the design. On the day of the work, the designer arrived with the landscape crew, reviewed the plans with us and the crew of three commenced the work. The crew was very efficient, removed several old bushes, rototilled and enhanced the soil before planting the new bushes. They even pruned an existing bush to complete the new refreshed look. Their cleanup was excellent and they finished in about 5 hours. We are very happy with the work.

Description of Work: I contacted Merrifield to receive a quote for a new front walkway, porch and landscaping the front and two sides of our property. I was told a designer would contact me and never heard from anyone.

Description of Work: I bought plants from Merrifield Gardens. |They were very good at advising and allowing me to complete the purchase over the phone.

Description of Work: Super helpful people working there! A wonderful man, named Doug helped me. He took my phone number down and called me when a certain plant I was looking for became available. He put it on hold for me and it was waiting for me when I came later that day. Everyone I encountered there was super knowledgable and helpful.

Description of Work: The request for an estimate to clear a significant amount of brush from our backyard was given verbally to us by a representative from Merrifield and we never saw him again. We were told we would receive the written estimate via e-mail. When it did not happen, calls were made (many over several weeks) and we received apology after apology but no written estimate, Finally, gave up and used another company. While we were willing to pay the $5,500 estimate we were given verbally, the company that did the work charged $3,400!

Description of Work: tree removal and some tree trim. extensive landscaping for outdoor remodel. will be using them again in the spring for additional areas that were not yet ready in the fall.

Description of Work: Merrifield was great to work with from day one. Dave O came out to our house and gave us a detail report on landscaping the front yard. He is not pushy but will give you different options on your preferences. We wanted to remove the old bushes from the front of the house and add to the exisitng landscape. The past seasons took out a few of our older trees and the bushes overflowing the rest of the landscape. We had two maples, one crape myrtle, two evergreens, many hollies, two lavender bushes, and a few other plants. The front and side yard were rennovated. My husband and I did remove alot of the old evergreen bushes, weed the area, and the side yard, Merrifiled removed the evergreen trunks, edge the bedding and planted the plants. The trees are large (2- 21/2 diam. trunk). The yard looks great and we are very pleased with the outcome. The workers were great and Dave O was very informative on the plants and how to take care of them.

Description of Work: we are still pending the landscape design. However, their landscape engineer was punctual and met with us when it was convenient. He spent time talking with us and looking at the yard. He recommended removing all of the mature Hollys & boxwood and starting over with younger trees and plant - definitely not what we wanted to do. The emphasis was on our knowledge of flora and fauna but we had little knowledge about trees, bushes etc that would best fit the places in our yard we needed some direction & suggestions, but that was not provided. The overall estimate was much higher than we had anticipated. We did pay the additional $300.00 for a design plan & were told it would take a couple of weeks - we are still waiting. This company has a good reputation, but before you make an appointment do your homework and get other estimates (free) -their estimate is $75.00 in addition to any plan they draw up. We've decided to put this on the back burner of things to be done because of the cost ($15K+).
