Horrible unprofessional no manners. Over priced for a can of dust cleaning did nothing. See above notes. Explains it all. Never recommend them ever!! So let me just add to this disgusting company. I had to call the police because he would not deliver my computer back to me. So I wanted the police to escort me. Turns out I decided to tell him to ship it, and I paid the shipping cost. Which I would have paid any dollar amount to get it back. He finally shipped it. He discriminated me because he obviously told me to go back to the "North" that the "South" is not for me, He referred to me as "you people", and btw, if u have a dog and write a bad review on him, watch out, he will say yr dog bit him. and he will tell you also to "immediately" send vaccination papers to make sure yr dog doesn't have rabies!! lol yea like im going to keep my dog in my house without a rabies shot? what a jokester. GET REAL!! take some anger management classes, or maybe RETIRE!! from yr pic it looks like u may need too! your dealing with the wrong person. my review will stay and also I have reported him to the BBB. I think his only customers are his neighbors!! Do not ever tell me and my family to go back North!! we are welcomed here in the South by many that have a BRAIN! unlike you!
Description of Work: The tech Lawerence who actually did try to fix my computer was good. But did not come in my house with his tools, had to go back and forth to his car to get what he needed. My main problem was with John Sr Manager. Even if he is the owner or not very unprofessional. I should have not used him from the first initial call I made to him I heard in his voice he had an attitude problem. Meanwhile I have him the business to give him in a chance. Well for one, I left a message on Saturday morning to advise John to order a part. He calls me back around 8 hrs later while I'm eating lunch and ruined my afternoon bc of his horrible unprofessional attitude. I decided I did not want the part to cancel it. At first I asked what my total would be so far for coming to my house he said $87.50. Then he said I "kept" Lawrence at my house. R u kidding? What's the difference how long I keep yr tech if I'm paying you? So he said I went over the time and now it's $125. Meanwhile Lawrence could have said if you keep asking me questions it's gonna cost you more. He never did. Then john tells me, I went over this. If he did I wouldn't ask him again. I said pls lower your voice I'm a customer and don't appreciate your attitude. He replies, "I'm tired, frustrated, it's Saturday etc.. LMAO are you kidding? That's how you speak to a customer? Not my problem you r all of the above. And I never told him to call me back on sat at 4pm. It wasn't an emergency. I could have waited till Monday! what person speaks to a new customer like that? I can go on and on. Horrible horrible. Then I asked him when am I getting my computer back? He hung up on me. I immediately called him right back 3x he did not even answer my call. I'm hoping he does read this so that way he knows for next time to be more professional. Not a person who talks down to customers. And my computer better come back the way I gave it to him or this will go further like court. I'm disgusted! Ruined a nice lunch with my husband!

I’m sorry that we here at House Call Computer Service we unable to meet your needs and time requirements despite our best efforts. Shortly after we started to try to help you with what you communicated to us as being an emergency, in that you would be unable to work unless we were able to help you, it soon became apparent that we would not be able to satisfy your needs. I sincerely hope that you were able to find another company that could meet your needs, once you finally decided what they were. Regarding the dog bite; we felt it to be a reasonable request to ask you to provide a certificate of rabies vaccination in light of your dog biting Lawrence. We don’t know you and we don’t know your dog, and when dealing with such a severe potential for harm for my friend and technician from the pain and suffering he might have to endure dealing with the possibility of rabies, our request was appropriate. Obviously you did not feel that it was warranted. That was all we asked for, proof that the dog had been vaccinated. As to the rest of your tirade, I’ll leave it alone and stand on our long existing body of work and multiple award winning service record, both with Angie’s List and the fine people of Central Virginia. As always, we are all about happy customers. Obviously we failed in that regard with you.

He was thoughtful about timing and price, as there was an issue with the internet card, which he said would take a week to obtain a new one and would have cost more than the solution of an adapter. He was efficient, productive and timely. Would definitely call him again if necessary.
Description of Work: I lost internet connection on my old home pc. (desk top) He diagnosed the problem, cleaned the computer, got rid of bugs, and bought a wireless AC dual band USB adapter, he took the pc with him and brought it back the next day, and made sure it connected to internet and worked before he left.

Mr. Stolte was knowledgeable and personable. He did everything I asked for, and provided helpful suggestions that were "beyond the call of duty". Because there was slow response on one service he provided, he did not charge me for the full time he was here.
Description of Work: John Stolte come to our home and solved several problems with my PC and Printer. He also removed two old PC's at my request, and wiped them clean for disposal. In addition, he reviewed several old printers on site and made suggestions on what to do with them. Finally, he offered some helpful suggestions on internet settings, download speed and virus protection.

The technician was quick and efficient. We felt comfortable with what he was doing on the computer and found him to be very knowledge. We would definitely use this computer service again.

John came to the house and did the work needed to get my computer working again. He was patient with me and showed interest in his work and explained somewhat the steps he needed to take.

They did fine. There was a lady who worked with them and she came and completed real good work. She did really nice work, but she does not work with the company any more.
Description of Work: I have hired them a couple of times. One time, I had hired her to be sure that my telephone line was disconnected correctly and my printer would still work for the fax programs. I hired her additionally for the repair of my laptop. She removed and reinstalled everything on the laptop.

It turned out fine. They were able to come out to my house to do the work instead of me having to go to them. The woman who came out seemed knowledge. They showed up quickly and on time. They spent enough time with me to ensure the work was done.

He did a lot of work, and installed software that would update my computer, and a security system that would not allow new virus on the system. He was willing to work with us and broke down the payment into 2 installments.
Description of Work: My computer was infected with many virus and worms, too many to count. The owner took all day to debug all the virus on my computer.

John showed up on time and was very easy to talk with. He got background information before he arrived to help save time and money before the visit. My computer was beyond repair but he did attempt to help me and offered me a great deal on building me a new computer. I would use him in the future.

I used them a month ago. I had a virus on my computer and he came out and took it off. He fixed my printer. I called them on Saturday Afternoon and his office was closed. He was going away for the weekend, but he would come to my house on Monday morning. He was prompt and professional. He put in new security. He was very well dressed and pleasant. I liked his service and I would call him again.
Description of Work: I used House Call Computer Service for computer repair and services. My computer had a virus on it. A man came to my house and fixed it. He installed a new antivirus guard. It is better.

House Call came over the day after I called him. He has been in business for 30 years. Quite bright and courteous. He does not waste time trying to drive the price up. I explained the problem to him. He got right on my computer used some kind of system checker he developed and totally fixed my problems. Then I asked him to explain some things to me I didn't understand. He also redid where I signed on to make it a lot easier for me to deal with. He was an excellent help and I will call him again if I have other problems.
Description of Work: I accepted some free software and downloaded it into my computer. It appeared to me to take over my entire computer. I spent two days trying to delete all the trash that was loaded on my computer. I used every utube video I could find to erase it and still couldn't get it all off. I called House Call and they were able to eliminate the entire virus, clean up some other trash I had and explain some information to me.

I found House Call on Angie's List in April and called them to repair my old computer that was going to be used by my 5yr. old grandson. House Call responded within 2 days. Mr. Stolte was prompt, very professional and friendly. My computer had not been turn on for months, was very slow and had many viruses, Mr Stolte repaired the computer in a timely fashion and suggested we get a new computer if anyone other than the 5 yr. old would be using it. In June I purchase a computer and called House Call to set-up the computer and demonstrate how to use windows 8, which was a problem for me. House Call responded the same day, solved the problem and installed an anti-virus. I would definitely recommend House Call Computer Service to friends and family and will call them again whenever I need help with my computer .

My mail program had stopped working and webmail was beginning to be frustrating and time consuming. In addition, I had other computer problems that I hoped to have fixed and questions I needed answered. I went to Angie?s List and immediately decided on House Call Computer Service. I called and John was able to come to my house within a few days. He arrived at precisely the time he said he would. He was professional, competent and very comfortable to work with. He solved problems I didn?t even know my computer had and set me up with a new mail program and browser. He was determined not to give up until my problems were solved. I would definitely recommend House Call Computer Service to friends and relatives and will call them again whenever I need help with my computer.
Description of Work: House Call Computer Service resolved various problems on my slow computer including malware and anti-virus scans. Several unneeded start-up programs were removed. I now have a working mail program, a faster browser and overall a happier computer.

While checking my PC to confirm that the problem was the fan he also diagnosed an issue with the router. During the time he ordered the fan part I bought and installed a new router. Two of my PCs would not connect to the internet through the router. Two hours on the phone with Cisco got me a recommendation to spend another $60. I had Lawrence look at it when he came to pick up my PC for repair and he had both of the other PCs connected to the internet through the new router in less than 20 minutes. He also did a couple of other router maintenance things for me and fixed something else on my husband's computer. He returned my computer a few hours later with the new fan. I have spent countless hours trying to fix my own computer problems. I run a home-based business with all of my sales over the internet. I will not waste any more of my own time trying to fix computer problems. I will call John and Lawrence.
Description of Work: I called John to replace the fan in my computer.

I was very satisfied with their work. The problem was diagnosed and options for resolution were provided. I decided to fix the problem myself once it was determined that there was no surefire way to save the hard drive.

John and Lawrence were terrific! They offered suggestions via email and when the problem was not resolved, they took in the laptop, figured it out and got it back to me in one day.

Our long-time computer person had given up on our computer's problems. We found House Calls on Angie's List and called to set a time for someone to come to our house. Betsy arrived, listened to our problems, and determined that the problem was with our internet provider (IP). She called our IP, spoke for a while, and set up a time for someone to come out to check our modem, etc. Betsy left and returned after the IP person had determined the problem with the modem. Betsy took care of several problems and questions we had about the computer. She was patient with our questions and gave us clear answers. She gave us credit for the coupon from Angie's List when she charged us. A few days after Betsy's work, I was not able to print something. I called her and described my problem, and she told me over the phone how to make the printer work.
Description of Work: Betsy, of House Calls, came to repair our computer, when our regular repair-person had given up on our computer's problems. She asked us to tell her about the problems we were having. She worked with the computer enough to find the main problem was with our internet provider. She talked with our provider on the phone and arranged with them to come to our house and check out the problem. After the provider fixed its problem, Betsy came to our house again to work on some other computer problems, which she did efficiently and quickly.
