It went fine.

They have always responded quickly to my telephone calls and are able to see me normally within a day or two. They tell me when they will arrive and are prompt and courteous. For this most recent job, they told me clearly their hourly charge, approximate time job would take and gave me a fixed price based on that estimate of time; they did not exceed that cost even though the job took a little longer. I checked their pricing against other reputable plumbers and they seemed to be cost competitive. They are honest and explain the details of what they need to do very clearly.

We requested that our pipe to street be replaced with PVC. Part of the work was to include that he would remove some of the sidewalk and replace it. While the work was done, he accidently cut the water line. The water line was an odd size so he had to go out and buy new copper. He did replace it that same day. Instead of removing the sidewalk, he dug up the dirt on both sides of it and underneath of it. The sidewalk as since sunk. We had to dump 4 wheel barrows full of dirt and gravel on the street side of the sidewalk to prevent further collapse from a sink whole that developed. The sink hole was so large a small child could have fallen into the ground. We have had no problems with our plumbing since that time. What made me upset was that he did not get his work inspected by the county, although I asked him to do this during the estimate. We didn't learn of the missing inspection until the dirt was completely replaced. Professional plumbers should have permits and get their work inspected. Date of service is approximate.

They were fine as well as good. I would probably not use their services again since I have another plumber now who I use.

never returned initial phone call

Syd's Plumbing was one of five companies I called for an estimate to replace my sewer line. Two of the other companies seemed to be good prospects, but I ultimately chose Syd's because the owner impressed me as a person--he seemed to be knowledgeable, competent, and responsible, someone who would make certain that the job was done right. He seemed interested in what I had to say, answered all my questions, and gave me some helpful suggestions about what to look for in a job proposal. He was friendly and responsive, as were the three men who worked with him. I also was impressed by how well the crew worked together throughout the day; they seemed to be actually enjoying themselves doing what was a long, strenuous job. The entire experience made me feel confident that I'd made the right choice, and the cost was very reasonable. One of the other companies proposed doing the same job for twice as much.

They did part of the work and they said they couldn?t do the rest of it so they just left it. When my husband came home, he called and left a message that said he had questions but they never called back. He just wanted to know why they couldn?t fix it and what happened. They did two out of the three things but they guy just never called back. I thought the price was too high.

They were very punctual and considerate. They were easy to have around. Every member of his crew was just wonderful to deal with. They worked exceptionally well as a team. They started at 7am, and had my water and sewer service restored by 10:30am! Surprisingly, this was the best contracting experience I've ever had! (and, given the magnitude of the job, I rather expected it to be somewhat traumatic!)

He was very thorough and asked me a few questions to asses the correct problem. He was very friendly and honest in the service that he gave me. He explained everything that he was doing and the cause of the problem. He also fixed another problem for free that he noticed and cleaned everything after the work was done. I got estimates from three companies and his price was the most competitive for the same kind of product. He was also very straight forward and did a wonderful job for me.
