Heavy rains Friday 23 Jan, revealed leaky roof. Found Steve & Roofer911 on Angies Sat morning about 8. Contacted him from his web site. He called me back within 10 minutes. Set appointment for Sunday morning. Steve arrived at 830, used his InfraRed camera to detect all the wet areas in the attic from the leaky roof. He had a quote by 9 am and was able to have his crew on site by 11 AM, done by 1:30 PM. More wet snow was due on Monday so fixing the roof soon was important to prevent expensive interior damage. Cost of this fix was about $1200. In knew that 14 y.o. roof had some issues and we'd had some minor leaks before. So I asked him to spot all defects and give me a total roof tune up just like you'd give a car with 60k miles on it. New stand pipe boots and a replacement attic vent fan ran about $1300. The basic roof is in fine shape but needed some resealing. I've been approached by salesmen for years to sell me new roof for $9000 and up. I knew it only needed a tune up but i did not know of a company that would do small jobs, something less than a complete roof replacement. The main source of the leak was the ridge vents. They were not sealed or nailed properly, with some peeling up. This was a recent failure likely due to the winter weather. It need to be fixed now. Steve's crew could reuse the ridge vents but they put down some weather stripping type of material and retailed the vents in place. They said the vent pipes were not sealed properly by the builder (which I had suspected). I watched them put in new pipes, and flashing and seal them all. They also replaced the attic vent fan. It cost me $400 to install 13 years ago. The bearing was wearing out. So $500 for a new one was reasonable considering inflation, etc. I would recommend that everyone with a roof older than 10 years get a tune up. Rubber and caulking decays from UV and chemicals. This is the only roofing company I've found that will do a tune up, something less that a full replacement. I would have had them do a tune up last summer if I had known about them, and perhaps prevented the minor interior damage I experienced. FYI. If you have a water bubble forming in your ceiling, lance it like a boil. Warm the room and the ceiling, if painted, will heal with only a minor wrinkle. Save yourself a ceiling collapse or major stain. Do yourself a favor and contact Steve at Roofer911. He's easy to talk to, and not pressuring. He'll tell you what he can do for you without over selling.

Having a complete roof tuneup is very important, especially if you've had problems in the past. Unfortunately in your case, the flashings were all damaged/deteriorated or improperly installed and had to be replaced. Also, you are so correct, if a homeowner notices a water bubble on the ceiling from a roof leak it's always best to place a large pail directly underneath the area first then lance or poke a hole in the ceiling with a screwdriver which will prevent the ceiling from collapsing. We greatly appreciate your business! Thank you, Steven

The owner Steven Briesemeister is an amazing guy. He is one of the best contractors I have ever dealt with. We had an issue with a suspected leak in on roof, so I did some research on Angie?s List and decided to contact Steven. He got back to me right away and was able to come to my house very quickly. I showed him the part of the ceiling where we had the issue, and asked him to inspect all of my roof. He used his special camera and did his inspection very thoroughly. He also inspected the rest of our roof/gutters on the same day and gave me an estimate for the required work within 20 minutes of leaving my house. He even told me he could send his crew in a hour to complete the work?on the same day he did the inspection. The way he does his work is very efficient. He doesn?t waste anybody?s time. After I asked him to proceed with the job, his crew came to my house in one hour, fixed everything, and they were very polite, too. They repaired the roof, gutter nails, and even cleaned the gutters, and they only charged me $500. I had a gutter company gave me an estimate for just the gutter cleaning and fixing the gutter nails. They wanted $350, so I knew Steven?s price was very generous. Steven is very honest, too. He didn?t try to sell me things I don?t need. He found the problem and focused only on what I needed. Moreover, Steven texted my husband later in the day, and explained the details of the work since my husband was out of town. What nice manners! It was a real pleasure to work with him, and I would STRONGLY recommend Roofer 911 if you have any issues in your house!

We had a leak from our roof that saturated the insulation in the attic and left an active water stain in our bedroom ceiling. I called on a Saturday afternoon and he scheduled us in for Sunday Morning. The infrared inspection showed more water damage than expected and his team temporarily repaired our roof with a tarp until we could schedule a roof replacement. He was highly professional, gave great advice and was not going for the hard sell. We decided to go with him for a full roof replacement and we'll see how that goes.

Being that your roof is 20 plus years old, I felt it was best to install a large tarp over the leak areas because if we installed new shingles to repair your roof it's possible the situation could become worse since your roof is so badly deteriorated. I believe in being safe now than sorry later. We greatly appreciate your business. Thank you, Steven

We were happy to have the work completed but lingering in my mind is whether we overpaid. I suspect so, given the amount of time spent on the job and the relative low cost of the few materials (sealant, nails, etc.) needed for the job. Still, the work is done and peace of mind counts for something.
Description of Work: Owner Steve came out with his infrared camera within an hour of the phone call I made concerning two stains on the bedroom ceiling. Within two hours we had an estimate, which seemed high, but what is one going to do when there is a sign of leaking? The workers were out the next day and had the job completed in less than two hours. They sealed the area along the ridge vent and properly attached a gutter which was not properly guiding rain water away from the foundation of the house.

After noticing a water stain on the bathroom ceiling I called several roofing companies. Not all responded promptly or they were busy for the next month so I ended up calling Roofer911. Steven answered the phone himself (on a Saturday afternoon) and made an appointment to stop by the next day. He arrived as planned, was very polite, professional and extremely capable in assessing the situation with the help of a high-tech infra-red camera. This allowed us to see exactly where the leaks were without anyone having to climb into the attic or on the roof. It?s rather mind-boggling that more companies don?t use this technology! Steven was additionally helpful in recommending other solutions such as redoing the insulation which is not part of his business. We appreciated the advice. We had an estimate within 20 minutes and chose to proceed. Steven had his men there the next day. They were prompt, competent, friendly and had the job done in a few hours. We highly recommend Roofer911 and would definitely use them again.

I noticed that a portion of our roof at the very top had been blown off and damaged by the high winds in our area. Of course as my luck would have it this damage was noticed on Saturday late afternoon. After trying to call/locate multiple roofers on Angie's List I came across Steve's company. I called the number provided and fully expected to get another voicemail in hopes that someone would call me back that day, when to my surprise Steve answered the phone. I was so happy to hear a live person on the other end. He told me over the phone what the issue was and assured me he could come out personally the next day. Sunday, first thing Steve was on time, polite and did not waste anytime in getting to what the issue was. He was able to quickly assess our home and explain in detail what he thought was needed. He then provided us with an estimate with in 15/20 minutes. He stated that if we chose to move forward that he would have his men out that same day to do the work and have it done correctly. True to his word Steve's men came out that same day. They did what needed to be done and cleaned up, leaving no trace of debris. The crew also explained to my husband what they saw when up on the roof and what they did to fix it. Turns out we didn't need any shingles replaced like originally thought and placed in the estimate. A quick phone call to Steve and he adjusted the price we were originally quoted. This is an honest company! Would definitely recommend Roofers911 to anyone.

It was such a pleasure to meet you and to be of service. Unfortunately, the roofers who installed your roof were either in a rush or lacked the experience to work on roof flashing's which is the most critical part of a roof that must be done correctly the first time or the homeowner will pay for damages later. Thankfully your roof has been repaired correctly so please do not worry about roof leaks, your home is now 100% water-tight. We greatly appreciate your business. Thanks again, Steven

It went extremely well. We had problems with water leaking into the bottom of our gas fireplace. We called Roofer911 the day after Christmas to come check out our problem and give us an estimate on how to fix it. The owner of the company was at our house within two hours of our call. One hour after our he left, we had an estimate and proposal waiting in our email box. We agreed to the proposal and had people working on our roof that afternoon. The workers were very courteous and very knowledgeable. Roofer911 took care of our problem quickly, efficiently and expertly. I would highly recommend them!

Improper fastening procedures of roof shingles around roof flashings is the most common source for roof leaks. The damaged chimney flashing was replaced and the cricket behind the chimney was re-shingled correctly because of roof nails being exposed within the valley centerline. Also, your aluminum ridge vent twenty feet behind the chimney was not sealed underneath and would also cause the chimney to leak but only during very heavy downpours, melting snow or wind-driven rains and was repaired as well. Rest assured your roof leak problems are now in the past. We greatly appreciate your business. Thank You, Steven

We have used this company before and were very pleased with the service. In fact, they repaired my roof but the leak continued. I contacted them and within hours they were here again and repaired another part of the roof, which did fix the leak, and charged me nothing for the visit. This time, we thought we had another leak and asked them to come check it out. Like most people, I was really at his mercy. He could have told me that we did, in fact, have a leak, charged me hundreds of dollars and I would have never been the wiser. He didn't do that! He told me there was no leak and explained why I might have thought we did. Honest companies and honest service people are not always the case. With Roofer 911, I have found both. While I hope to never see them again, if I have a roofing problem, I will absolutely contact them again. Jim M.

Thanks again for purchasing our infrared leak detection service and moisture analysis. Thankfully, your home showed no signs of moisture infiltration to any levels. As I mentioned before, there was one area of concern I was slightly uncertain about so I felt it best to be safe than sorry and perform a moisture check. This area turned out to be missing insulation inside the exterior wall/cold air coming from the attic floor and just needs to be filled in with new insulation. Thanks again for your business. Roof checked out ok. Nothing to fix. Attic: As I suspected electricians earlier in the year had kicked the insulation out of their path here and there and did not put it back. Will just put more up there. Also, ceiling humidity tester found nothing. In hind sight, I wish I had thought to check the area where nails are popping in the ceiling centrally located under roof vent.
Description of Work: Checked roof for torn or missing shingles and potential leaks due to overgrown tree (just bought house). Ran an infrared diagnostic regarding temperature issues in upper rooms, also checked for humidity along ceiling below roof vent since this was a blue area.

Thankfully your home showed no signs of water infiltration from the weather. When your electrician worked in the attic he moved around a lot of insulation on the floor which is now causing cold air to leak into your living space. I would highly recommend to contact an insulation company or a reputable handyman to build up the low areas of insulation to prevent mold development and will also save you money on energy expenses. We greatly appreciate your business! Thank you, Steven
Overall, I'm happy about hiring Steven and his company and if I have another roofing issue I will contact him again. Steven, the owner, is super responsive. I noticed the leak on Saturday and contacted the company via their website on Sunday. I got an answer within a few hours, and made an appointment for early Monday morning. I ended up buying the inspection ahead of time via their website/paypal so there was no fee when the actual inspection happened. Steven was a bit late due to traffic, but kept me up to date with calls along the way, so I had no problems with him being a bit outside our scheduled time. During the inspection, Steven used his infrared camera and a moisture meter to look at the obviously leaking portions and then proceeded to scan the rest of the ceilings. He found additional areas of concern and followed up by using a moisture meter to determine if there was actual water seepage or not. He found three other areas of concern. Many of the areas he found were linear, i.e. along the width of the ceiling, which pointed to the gutters being installed improperly and not draining properly. After the inspection, he followed up with a detailed plan of repair. The repairs included inspecting the roof and chimney located near the obvious leak and repairing/replacing flashing and shingles as needed, re-positioning the gutters along the entire house so they are draining properly, and looking at the two vent pipes on the roof for flashing/shingle repair or replacement. After reviewing his plan of repair, I agreed to the repairs. Repairs happened later that same day. I was unable to be home during the repairs. Though I wasn't able to be home during the actual repairs, I got feedback from Steven about what his workers found. Additionally, I got feedback from my neighbors that the workers were there and did repairs. Steven mentioned that his workers may take pictures as the repairs are made, however no pictures were sent. This would have been helpful to me, as I wasn't home to get a sense of the nature and complexity of the repairs. It's a little hard to "see" the repairs as a non-roofer the gutters looked fine to me in the first place. The neighbors talked about the chimney flashing being repaired, and I saw the obvious leaves/twigs from the gutters on my back deck (which I'll talk about more later) so I know the workers were at my house. The actual test of the repairs will some in the upcoming days/weeks/months as the rain and snow comes and I keep an eye on the ceilings, however I trust the repairs were done well and to the standard stated in the repair plan. The repair plan also notes a six month guarantee on the areas/items repaired. My only concerns, is that I just really don't feel the value was there during the actual repair. Re-positioning the gutters, though something I don't have the tools or skill to do, doesn't seem that hard if you know what you're doing. Being that the gutters are pretty long (40+ feet or so along the longest portion, and others being in sections due to the roof sections) I tried to take that in mind when writing this review and making these comments. For the price paid, honestly, I expected "white glove" type service, so I was surprised that I came home to all the leaves/twigs from one of the gutters laying on my back patio. I don't think it would have been that hard for the workers to sweep/blow the leaves into the mulch off the back deck or bag the leaves/twigs and place them into the trash. Also, the other gutters that weren't part of the repair weren't cleaned nor were obvious twigs removed. Though that wasn't part of the original repair plan, it would have added value to, as the workers have to pass by those gutters and twigs anyway, to clean the gutters out and remove the twigs. That's what lead to my slight lowering of grades for "price" and "quality". In summary, I appreciate Steven being responsive and using technology (not just "experience" or a "good idea") as many others who might not have the technology on their side might do in order to diagnose the repair. I did not shop around for this repair and doing so might have changed my review a bit. Perhaps other roofing companies might have charged less, but Steven does fit well into what many Northern Virginia homeowners value; the use of technology and hitting the "easy" button by being super responsive and doing the repairs the same day. I feel you pay for that though; and suggest that others might want to use his inspection service and then shop around for the actual repair which may help them know if Steven's service is best for them. As a busy person, the value of one stop shopping may override potential cost savings by shopping around a bit.
Description of Work: Using an infrared camera, checked areas of ceiling that had an obvious leak. Then, using the same camera, looked at the ceilings of all upper rooms and noticed additional areas where water had penetrated, but not to a degree that was obvious yet. Finally, used a moisture meter to test the drywall in those areas to see if the areas were actually moist, or if the camera gave a false reading. (Note: The infrared camera detects differences in temperature... so if you have an uninsulated area or areas that lack insulation (as do parts of my ceiling... resolving that soon with additional insulation to be installed by another contractor) the moisture meter is needed to verify results. Also, the price includes a $100 inspection fee, which is waived if you use Steven's company for the actual repair.)

When I performed an infrared scan to your home I noticed a leak around your chimney because of the step flashing being fastened incorrectly and most likely tears in the water barrier behind the chimneys vertical wood siding. The chimney flashing was repaired or replaced and the vertical wood siding was sealed with polyurethane to prevent further leakage. The infrared also detected hidden leaks inside your home because of the gutters not being pitched properly. Gutters can cause just as much water damage inside a home compared to a leaky roof and sometimes many times more if not pitched correctly. All gutters were re-pitched and downspouts lowered where needed to ensure a positive water-flow to the drains. Also, another leak that I found was because of a deteriorated/improperly installed vent pipe flange and was removed and replaced with new. We greatly appreciate your business! Thank you, Steven

I called the owner on Sunday and he was here today, Monday as he promised. He also said that he would inspect every square inch of my roof and any repairs would be completed today. He did as he said. This is the second time I have dealt with this company. The first occurred during the last massive snow storm. I had ice blockage in my gutters and my house was leaking everywhere. Steve and his men came out immediately, removed the gutters from my house and removed 3 feet of snow from our roof. They installed ice and water shield to the roof decking and behind the gutter to stop our leaks and prevent ice dam leaks in the future. As the snow fell they reshingled the areas of my roof that were leaking after removing the gutters. They replaced the gutters weeks later when the weather cleared up. Steve is an honest, knowledgable, and responsible professional. I trust him implicitly and cannot recommend him more highly. He guarantees his work and says what he means and means what he says. It is so refreshing to deal with such a quality person. If you have a roofing problem, Roofer 911 is the company to call. Thomas Ryan, MD

The service I received was excellent. Steve, the owner, contacted me almost immediately after putting out my query for work to be estimated. He scheduled for the next morning and kept in touch on where he was, when he would be here and when the work could be performed. Steve was extremely friendly and informative. The infrared system that he uses to identify leaks and issues is an excellent tool. It would work for not only leaks but for understanding what else is going on behind the walls in the house. He identified the leak issues (roof vent) and another issue which had not yet become apparent with the skylight. The scan showed not only water issues but insulation issues as well. (something else I will need to take care of in the future). Steve provided a fully written estimate along with a detailed description of the work that would need to be done. The difference that was apparent is that he wanted to fix the entire issue for the long term and not just do a patch. To me, that was very important as roofs are expensive and I want to make sure that the roof lasts a long time. After discussion, we scheduled the work which included reseating of the roof vent and repairing around the skylight for that same day. Steve's team showed up about an hour later and got right to work. "June" let me know what was happening, kept the team working and the work was complete before I knew it. Yes it took several hours in total but that was still less than I expected given the amount of work that needed to be done. The crew cleaned up the premises to better than they left, they checked out the entire roof, sealing anything else that might be a problem. they even cleaned out the gutters and reconnected the gutters to the house. As a bonus, I an issue with a casing on a wall unit heating/air conditioning unit and they refastened that for me as well. When complete, "June" again walked me thru what they had done, let me know how things looked up on the roof and let me know that I should be able to get at least another 10-15 years out of the roof. That was good to know and a huge relief as a home owner. As soon as they left, Steve called to make sure I was happy with the service. Clearly I was. It is a huge relief to know that the literal 'roof over my head' will be there for quite awhile longer. I would definitely recommend Roofer 911, Steve and team. They clearly go the full mile and way more to support their customers.
Description of Work: I recently noticed a stain from what appeared to be a roof leak on my third floor ceiling. One of the providers I called for an estimate of the work was Steve and team at Roofing 911. Steve responded immediately to my query for an estimate, scheduled for the next day and fixed the problem the same day. I was thrilled with both the input that I received on the work that needed to be done, the communications from Steve and the work that was performed. I would absolutely recommend Steve and Roofer 911 and, as the roof ages, I will definitely use Steve and team again (although with the work that they did, I do anticipate that the next roof issue will be way off in the future!)

Ridge vents are very important for a home, not only are they excellent for preventing condensation build-up but also help release warm moist air trapped in the attic. When not installed correctly water can get inside the ridge vent during a heavy downpours, wind-driven rain or melting snow and leak through the open breathing space underneath and cause much water damaged to the ceilings below. Approximately 40 linear feet of your aluminum ridge vents were not sealed underneath so we had to completely remove, apply polyurethane to the deck and then press and fasten the new ridge vents into the sealant that will block any water from getting inside. The flashing around your skylight was damaged and was repaired or replaced then re-shingled. Also, we noticed hairline fractures to where the glass and metal frame meet on top of the skylight which would have eventually caused leakage so we sealed with polyurethane to prevent future interior water damage. We greatly appreciate your business! Thank you, Steven

Steve came out with his handy infrared camera and checked not only our bathroom vent and ceiling for leaks but proceeded to move through the rest of our upstairs as well. I was very grateful because beyond just a leak check and estimate, he went beyond the call to do a full roof and insulation check with that camera. He was clear and honest (told us we still had 10 years left on our roof and not to worry) and reasonable. In addition to a fully explained estimate he also provided a separate report that we could show to an insulation specialist. That really helped as we talked to the specialist. The roofing team came out that afternoon - yes - that afternoon! They fixed everything within a couple of hours and proceeded to show me what the previous roof repairs looked like. I was shocked and so were they. Our previous roofer had used siding and siding glue and not shingles to cover over the area near the vent fan. It was bizarre and explained a lot. The team told me that what had started out originally as a small issue had actually created a bigger one due to the inappropriate fixes by the roofers. I was beyond grateful for their quick work, honesty, work ethic and more. This firm is all you need. Period. Got a leak, got a roof issue? They are on your side and want to help. They go beyond this being just a job or "money." They love what they do and it shows. There is a reason they are getting top reviews on this site. They are that good.
Description of Work: Pulled back the shingles on the roofing surrounding my upstairs bathroom vent fan and put down proper sealant to fix the problem and replace the shingles. Our original roofer (who had installed the roof 12 years prior and done some maintenance previously) had come back to do repairs and as it turned out did a shoddy job using siding of all things and not shingles. We have been trying to resolve this issue with our roofer for a year now and we finally gave up and decided it was time to call a reputable firm. Roofer911 was the smartest move, hands down.

I'd noticed some progressive dry wall damage in two upstairs bathroom ceilings underneath a previous roof leak that had been repaired. I contacted Steve the owner on Friday and he came to my house on Sunday morning. Steve was helpful and professional and quickly determined it was not a recurrence of the roof leak but instead a botched drywall repair. He even determined that the prior workmen had failed to replace insulation and e-mailed me infrared pictures demonstrating the missing insulation. I would definitely use if I needed a roof repair.

Steven came with his infrared detector (a very cool instrument!) and went all through the house checking for leaks. Unfortunately for us, he found a lot of leaks - fortunately, the fix won't be that difficult. It's just a matter of going up in the attic and piling on lots of loose insulation. Once that's done, I will look forward to lower electric bills, finally!

Great!! A little confusion on time to meet for initial assessment, but we still got it done within 36 hours of my call. Estimate and work were both completed on the same day. Estimate accurately represented potential problems and thoroughly covered repairs to be done. Owner of company called to follow up and explain potential causes and possible concerns. Explained how tiles we have are no longer available and that nearest match isn't a close or subtle difference - promised his crew would be extremely careful removing tiles so they could be re-used. And they succeeded! Much appreciated in this HOA community. Essentially thorough clean-up, though I did find several large pieces of "tar paper?" Scattered in the yard and flower beds. Really only a concern because our young dog thinks he is a goat and eats everything. Speaking of dogs, we had two running around and all the workers involved were good with them.

Steve was able to come first thing Friday morning to do a quick inspection and determine the cause of the leak with an infrared detector. After showing me the issue, he informed me that he would have a quote for me within 15 minutes. Sure enough, I had a quote in my email 15 minutes later. I quickly agreed and Steve had his men out here to fix the leak within a few hours. His men noticed another issue while correcting the original problem. They were able to quickly do the original job and the secondary issue within an hour. I would highly recommend Roofer 911, the were quick, courteous, and very professional.

They came to find the source of the roof leak. Steve used a infrared camera to identify where the water was coming from. He then examined the exterior roof and made an estimate at what work would be necessary. They came back two days later and the foreman was very polite and worked independently. They informed me that the builder did a very bad job on my roof. They repaired it all the way to the top ridges.

My 3-story townhouse is at a very high elevation, making my roof subject to strong, damaging winds. In fact, I sustained significant wind damage in 2001 and had to have the ridge and cap replaced. In recent months, I've noticed (and heard) the noise made by loosening vents on my adjoining neighbors' townhouses. I was concerned that without their immediate attention, the problem would creep into my section and I would be facing a replay of the 2001 fiasco. I called around and one company came out but was unable or unwilling to do the work (too small a job, perhaps?). I contacted Roofer 911 late in the afternoon of 11/12 with my problem. Steven got back to me within hours and said they could send someone out the very next day. True to his word, his associate Jun showed up promptly at 8:00 a.m. the next morning, assessed the problem, gave me a quote and had it all taken care of within an hour. I'm extremely pleased with the professionalism, punctuality, and pleasantness this transaction provided. Now I can sleep at night without worrying that the coming March winds are going to rip my roof off. I only wish Roofer 911 handled repairs other than roofing. I would sign them up for a boatload of work.
Description of Work: Reinforced the ridge vent to rafter to enable it to withstand high winds.
