We entered into negotiations to purchase our current home in early July of 2005. However, the VA (we were after a VA Homebuyer Loan) wasn't satisfied with the condition of the window molds. As such, we'd contracted out to have a different company chip and paint the molds, but they wouldn't sand them down because the old paint was lead-based. The only alternative was to replace the old windows and have all the old molds capped, but we didn't want to spend the additional money when we were already stretching thin. So, they chipped as best they could and provided two new coats of fresh paint. The molds looked as good as you'd expect up close and looked great as long as you weren't right next to them looking to see if they were sanded. However, that wasn't good enough for the VA. They were mechanically sound, but not pretty enough.... So, the seller was being extremely difficult and said if we couldn't get financing soon, they were backing out from us. So, our Realtor suggested that, since we were planning on having the windows replaced as one of our first upgrades anyhow, we'd satisfy the VA by having the money for window work held in escrow so the work could be done within 30 days after we closed. So we started calling around, looking for any company that would commit to having new windows installed and pretty in less than 5 weeks (the seller gave us 1 more week and the VA would only give us 30-days after close), otherwise we'd loose the house and the money we'd put into both it and the process to this point. There ended up being only one company that would commit after I'd explained what was going on: Tom Hanger Home Improvement. Rick, from Tom Hanger, came out and got us our estimate, which realistically was a fair estimate, and we gave them a down payment. With that done, we were finally able to close on the house and be done with that miserable seller (the "he" was miserable anyhow, the "she" was extremely nice and pleasant). Tom Hanger had his crew out just over two weeks later to replace all of the windows and they were done in two days. They did a gorgeous job and the VA appraiser lady was finally appeased... so it was finally over. We were very satisfied and kept them in mind for the future.

We were delighted to see the quality work that was done by this company. They were very efficient, ensured all the windows were installed correctly, and cleaned up very well. I highly recommend their services to anyone looking for an outstanding contractor to install windows or for any general maintenance work. We will use them again.

Didn't arrive on scheduled day, had to reschedule. One window was incorrect size and had to reschedule to have that installed.
