The Grout Medic - Northern VA

The owner came out to provide free estimate. After I called to schedule work, he told me everything I needed to know before the appointment. He called and confirmed the day before. The work was completed on time and it looks like a brand new shower! I was impressed that they cleaned / regrouted up the entire wall when I only thought the main issue was at the tub surround. All work was professional and all contact with them was very responsive. I will use them again for the second bathroom in my condo when I'm ready to move. I will not hesitate to call.

Called on Monday and made an appointment for Tuesday for between 10AM & 11AM. George and John arrived at my home a little after 10. I showed them my shower and told them what I wanted done. George did a thorough check of my shower to make sure there was no problems with the drywall. Some of my grout was totally gone and he told me to expect some tiles coming off if and when the work would be done. He also warned me not to use the shower due to the lack of grouting in places as this could lead to water destroying the drywall and cause big problems both structurally and financially. I wanted to get the job done but only had this week to do it. George said the earliest they could schedule me is the week after Christmas. I told him I really needed to get it done this week because of my work schedule. He told me he'd put me down in case of a cancellation or if one of his men finished a job early they might be able to squeeze me in. George and John went to their car to send me an estimate via e-mail. They sat in their car for about five minutes and then my phone rang. It was George telling me Jamie had finished a job early and he could be at my home between 12 and 1 if that was alright with me. I agreed and George set up the appointment. Jamie arrived at 12:30 looked at my shower and got to work. Jeff arrived later to help him complete the job and by 4pm, I had what looks like a brand new shower. I can't thank them enough for getting me in like that and doing such a great job.

We are getting our house ready to sell, and we asked The Grout Medic to repair a section of our 10-yr-old tile floor in our sunroom. George Collins came out to give us an estimate and explained what his technician would do to restore our floor and schedule an appointment that fit our schedule the best, prior to listing the house. We talked about tile replacement where necessary, and I had an extra wrinkle in that the tile has been discontinued, but I had some leftover tiles. It's a pattern of three different size tiles-- 12x12, 6x12, and 6x6 laid in a pattern. He took down the brand name and color of the grout used for the original installation to assure the best match. Both George and Jamie the technician came this morning and we talked over the job. Jamie was thorough, covering furniture to keep grout dust off, and he set to work cutting grout lines and pulling up loose tiles. He called me in to show me what he found and what he planned to do. To my relief, he explained that the tiles were loose because the adhesive on the underlayment material had loosened, but that the subfloor is good and strong, no problems there. He also explained, that if he needed more of the small tiles than I had left over from the original installation, he could cut a couple larger tiles down to size and assured me I wouldn't be able to tell which ones were cut (but he had enough tiles & didn't need to do it). He did a very thorough job of restoring the sunroom floor. We are very pleased with it! Knowing that we are getting ready to sell, George asked if there was more work Jamie could do while he was here, and we went up to look at the tub surround in the owner's bath, which needed caulking. Jamie did an excellent job on that as well. We have used The Grout Medic for years for our tile, grout and caulking work and I recommend them wholeheartedly. Everyone is so professional & friendly, and they stand behind their work. Last year, they completely regrouted two 1950s bathrooms for us, skillfully replacing cracked tiles (yes, they directed us where to find matching tiles for 50-yr-old tiles as well!), and our "old" bathrooms were transformed into fresh-looking "vintage" bathrooms. We added new fixtures to go with the look and saved tens of thousands of dollars over complete bath renovations. In response to a previous reviewer who complained about a caulk job, I must say we had no such experience. I wonder if someone may have made the mistake of scrubbing the caulk. We have a rather elaborate shower enclosure in our owner's bath with a combination of tile and five panels of glass block and Corian seat. Before we worked with The Grout Medic, I would do my own recaulking, and I was frustrated that it was an annual job, but I was using inferior material & I discovered I knew nothing about caulk maintenance. George recaulked the shower for us several years ago, and gave us instructions on the best way to make it last, by toweling the shower dry after each shower, taking especially good care gently patting dry the caulk lines, cautioning us never to scrub the caulk, because the silicone would tear. We have gotten into a routine of toweling the shower as instructed and I am happy to report that, not only has the caulk held up beautifully, but with the daily toweling, cleaning the shower is a breeze as well, without having to scrub caked-on soap scum or deal with stinky mildew. We recently had our realtor's stager go through the house with us, and she was wowed by the bathrooms. She immediately recognized that the original tile was rather freshly regrouted in the older bathrooms & commented on the wonderful job The Grout Medic had done. Then she was blown away by the shower with the glass block in the owner?s bath. She spent several minutes in there looking it over and asking if it was recently redone. Nope, several years ago, in fact. I consider this experience to be an excellent independent white-glove test, and our bathrooms passed with flying colors!

Worker arrived on time and proceeded to do the work. He had all the specs so he didn't need us around for questions. He was finished mid-day. The owner arrived toward the end of the job to make sure all was to our liking. He gave us instructions on how to care for the tiles and what product to use. We were very pleased with the results.

Great. No problem scheduling and doing the estimate. Received estimate that same evening. The owner reached out to schedule the appointment. The contractors showed up on time and work was done quickly and well. They were careful to match the caulk color to best match our space. We will likely get another estimate from them to clean grout and seal.

They did a great job! Professional, friendly, punctual and tidy! Patient with me with color matching too! We had used them before 2 years ago and will continue to use them again for our grouting needs:)

I have decided to move out of state and am not making any improvements to this house that would involve grout services. Sorry. I did not follow up with the Grout Medic other than one email. No service has been proposed or performed.

He was excellent. They were courteous and came on time. I was happy with the work.

Our ceramic-tiled walk-in shower is 10 years old and had become pretty grungy with crumbling grout and shriveled, mildewy caulk everywhere there was a 90-degree facing. We called Grout Medic's national number, gave them a few details, and they set up an appointment for an estimate. David, the local estimator, arrived two days later. Although he was a little late for the appointment, he called us in advance and said he was encountering some bad traffic -- perfectly understandable in our area -- and gave us his new arrival time. He was here when he said he would be and proceeded to do a thorough estimate, asking questions as he went. He was very knowledgeable, professional and efficient. After about 30 minutes he gave us a written estimate, which we thought was reasonable and accepted. Then he set up an appointment for the work to be done two days later. On the day of the work, John arrived punctually at 8:30. It took him about 3 hours to prepare the shower for the new caulk and to repair the grout where it needed to be done. His prep included removing the sticky remnants of old silicone caulk, areas of excess and crumbling grout, and cleaning the surfaces to be redone. Some of the old stuff was pretty stubborn, and he was meticulous and patient in removing it so as not to chip or harm the tile. He was very thorough. He invited us to inspect the work before he started caulking. He brought two different colors of caulk, and after I selected one of them, it took him about 20-30 minutes to finish the job. He did an excellent job on everything, and was very neat, polite, and professional. When he was done, he cleaned up the work area beautifully. We discussed the amount of time to let the materials dry before we use the shower, I gave him a check, and he was gone. From start to finish, this was a great experience, and our shower looks like new. I would definitely hire Grout Medic again, and I do highly recommend them.

Everything they promised they would do gone done-- done well and on time. They were very easy to deal and professional. I would definitely use them again.

The Grout Mechanic team (2 men) worked nonstop from when they came in until they had finished to my satisfaction, Their attention to detail was really nice to see.

I rarely write reviews, but this was possibly the best service I have ever received. It was easy to make an appointment, they were extremely prompt, they fit me into their already busy schedule because of the fact that there was a leak, AND they addressed the problem without trying to "upsell" me. As opposed to telling me that the entire shower needed to be re-grouted, they fixed the the root cause quickly and efficiently. I was thoroughly impressed. I would highly recommend them to anyone, and will definitely use them again.

I was really impressed. They called back when they said. They showed up when they told me they were gonna come. The service was just excellent, and the end product was really good. Really great company, I really liked them. Everything was perfect.

Great job. The estimator called shortly after contact and came for the estimate at a mutually agreed to time. When I scheduled the work Oscar arrived on time and was very polite and efficient. He cleaned up properly and provided recommendations and guidance to keep it looking good.

It turned out fine. They had a problem because they sent a young man to do the work, even though I had an estimate from the company saying they did that work. It was a little shaky because whoever was estimating didn’t suggest that they didn’t fix grout. But the young man worked hard, did the job, and I appreciated the job that he did do.

I had my main bathroom regrouted and recaulked. The person came out to give me an estimate (Was extremely courteous and offered suggestions on other work I was getting done). Scheduled the work to be done. The guy came out and did the work and my bathroom looks new now. I was very happy with everything.

I HIGHLY recommend the great team at The Grout Medic. They did an amazing job - it looks even better than I thought. They immediately responsive to come out and give a estimate and did everything and more that was promised. The team was efficient, extremely professional, punctual, and completed everything earlier than estimated. They cleaned up everything thoroughly too. I plan to hire them again to our 1100 sq foot basement. The cost was far less than I expected for everything they did - our tile all looks brand new!! If you need any tile work, this is the company to use!

The owner came to our home at the appointed time to give us an estimate. He was very friendly and professional and gave us a fair quote and an accurate estimate of the time it would take to do the work. We set the date for the work to be done and his office followed up with emails confirming the work date, reminding us the day before of the appoiintment, and reminding us the morning of the appointment of the estimated time of arrival of the technician who was to do the work. The technician arrived timely (he was a little late but had traveled in heavy traffic from outside the immediate area). He did an excellent job on all of the work. The owner stopped by, as he a promised he would do, to check on the job, and he even assisted in removing some of the old grout/caulking in order to save the technician some time. We have been extremely pleased with the the job, as well as how nice it looks, and would definitely use Grout Medic again. We even referred them to a neighbor, and when the owner came to do the neighbor's work he stopped by to say hello and to check that all was well.

Staff came on time and finished the job in less than four hours. The old moldy grout is gone and the new one looks great.

I met with owner George Collins when he came to my home to present me what Grout Medic offers. He was careful to explain areas of concern and offered ad vise on what to expect and what to look out for when re-grouting and sealing a bathroom area. I was most impressed with their focus on providing honest information and explaining everything up front. At the time, Gout Medic was the highest rated company I had found on Angie?s List, and I know there had to be a reason. In the end, I did select Grout Medic to complete the project and George worked with me through a reschedule to ensure I was taken care of. When the service technician arrived, he was prompt (showed up on the exact minute scheduled) and very courteous. He took photos of the area before the work began and just like George had done, made sure I understood everything and answered any questions I had. He also explained what I could do to ensure long-lasting results. The work was completed in the time allotted and everything was left in clean condition. George even called me afterword to ensure everything went well and to check on how his employees did. I told George I would share my experience here on Angie?s List, but that was after the job was completed. Grout Medic is one of those companies that is run right. Focus is put on customer satisfaction and getting everything done correctly the first time. You may find something less expensive (maybe but I doubt it) but you will be extremely hard pressed to find a higher standard of quality.

The provider arrived on time; he was thorough and took great care in the work that he did. The provider was very helpful to me in the selection of the grout sealant. I am extremely pleased with the final outcome. Tile looks brand new. I will definitely use this company in the future.
