The Grout Medic - Northern VA

He was really nice. I was happy with one thing but not as happy with the bathroom mold. I am already having him back. They were respectful and nice.

George (General Manager of the Grout Medic) is by far the most professional contractor I've ever hired. When he dropped by to examine my kitchen and bathroom for an estimate, he was very thorough in explaining what services he could provide, what type of materials he would use, and how I should clean/maintain my tiles afterwards in order to ensure they'd look new for many years afterwards (other contractors, I've found, will use shoddy materials and not tell you anything, ensuring you will call them a year later to re-do the work). On the day of service, George arrived right on time--literally. He knocked on my door exactly at 7:30 am, which was the scheduled time for the appointment. He got to work, finished in a reasonable time, and made sure I examined everything and was happy before he accepted payment. He also made sure to give me his card in case I had any questions or discovered any issues afterwards. As I said, a true professional.

They were very friendly, from the person who took the appointment to the service man that came. They were very professional and did a clean job. I was very happy.

We were very pleased with the work. I had been out of town and my husband was home while the work was done. My husband said everything went well. When I walked in it was like looking at a brand new floor. My grandson wanted to know if we had gotten all new tiles. It was a WOW factor just seeing it for the first time. We will definitely use them in the future.

Very well...I have no complaints.

We have tiles that a bluish marble pattern that would be impossible to match with new tile. Without removing any tiles, they made the shower look like new. It was a fantastic job at a fantastic price.

George Collins was very professional to work with; he promptly returned my call, scheduled the work, came to the site to ensure the technican,Charlie, was prepared to do the work. Both gentlemen were on time and very courteous. Charlie did a fine job removing and replacing the old caulking. The shower looks much better and is no longer leaking. We'd use their professional services again without a doubt.

The person who came out was punctual and professional and answered all my questions. The men who did the work were also punctual and professional. The work took 2 men several hours. They were thorough and the work they did looks great. My only negative remark is that afterwards there was a film of dust (I assume from the grout removal) on the vanity adjacent to the shower. In retrospect of course there would be, but I hadn't anticipated it. If I had, I would have just covered the vanity during the work. I would absolutely hire this company again.

It was ok. They had to come back and redo a part. But, they were concered about making us happy.

We were exceptionally pleased with all aspects of this experience. From the estimate to the completed work, this was a first rate experience. I HIGHLY recommend if you have any tile work that needs to be done to call the Grout Medic!

The tile in my shower had become cracked at the joint between the floor and the wall. I looked in Angie's list for companies that did tile repair/cleaning and found Grout Medic. I called and we agreed on a time for someone to come. Unfortunately, I don't remember the guy's name, but he came on time and got to work right away. He cleaned both my shower and the bathtub and resealed the cracks in the shower. He was very friendly and gave me some hints on ways to keep the showers clean and mold free. I would definitely use this company again.

The Grout Medic did an excellent job on removing old and installing new grout, cleaning, and caulking bathroom shower. I was also given a helpful lesson on how to care for grout and caulking. The shower looks brand new! Their slogan is quite fitting. They arrived on time and one person did the job efficiently and professionally in about 6.5 hrs. I would definitely use them again.

I paid the same amount that was estimated. They were extremely professional, timely and cleaned up the area when the job was completed.

Danny, who did the initial cleaning and sealing, showed up promptly at 7:30 to begin work. He steam cleaned and sealed the bathroom floor grout first and when I saw the result, my first comment was that it looked better now than when it had been initally remodeled! Danny also caulked around the areas where the walls met the floor. The result was a gorgeous new bathroom. He also steam cleaned the kitchen and connecting laundry room floors. Finally he applied the new color sealant to the grout. Color selection from the sample charts was a bit difficult to match for the kitchen and when I decided that the color he applied was lighter than I wanted, George offered to recolor the grout with a darker color; I only had to pay for the new colored sealant. The result again is a beautiful (and clean) new kitchen floor! This kind of customer service should be applauded!!

The Grout professional offered me two different colors for grouting, one of which was the perfect match. Overall an excellent job and would certainly use them in the future.

The estimator came and took a look at the shower, mentioned what would be done, and gave me a quote. I had the work scheduled a week later, it was finished promptly.

Since we do not have the funds right now to have a complete remodel of our 1960's master- and middle bathrooms, I was looking for options to fill in some chipped/cracked grouting in our walk-in shower (tile is still in great shape), tile floors, and the caulking redone professionally around the bathtub (my amateur attempt showed....). After searching options and contractors on Angie's List and after seeing one of "Grout Medic's" cars around town we decided to have them give us an estimate. George Collins promptly replied to my initial message and came out for an estimate within a day or two. He was very upfront with what could and could not be done and I was confident that he did not try to sell me on services that were not necessary. I received a detailed proposal of the work to be done in each bathroom along with itemized cost. A couple weeks later (they were quite busy at the time), Charlie Edens was the technician who came to do the work. He was very courteous and professional and did a great job. He explained and showed me the work as it was completed to ensure I was satisfied with the results. Prior to completion, George came by to check on the work and to answer any questions that I had. Charlie did a great job cleaning up after the work was done. The bathrooms look great and make me feel better about them until we are able to completely replace/redo the old tile and fixtures in the future. I will definitely consider using them again should we need some touch-up work prior to complete replacement. UPDATE: One issue I had with their work in 2013 was that they used caulk to fill in cracked/chipped group in and around the edge of our walk-in shower floor, and along the edge of our cement tile bathroom floors. They told me the caulk would work just as well and would last. Well, it does not. I like to use Mr. Clean Antibacterial when I mop my floors and evidently caulk does not hold up to this. Their solution: use a low pH cleaner and they kindly came back and replaced some of the loosened/missing caulk with more fresh. Again, low pH cleaners, for my purposes are not satisfactory for bathroom floors, so I just decided to leave things as is. The recaulking of the bathtub and walls of the walk in shower have been great! I will definitely keep them in mind for jobs where I want caulk replaced with caulk. However, when I am irritated enough with my cracked/chipped grouting in the floor tiles, I will seek another vendor who will use grouting as I had initially hoped to have used in the first place.

The project started as a simple one: Regrout and recaulk the children's bathroom to freshen its appearance. However, The Grout Medic discovered major water damage behind the tiled walls of the shower enclosure, something we had suspected but not confirmed. Once we realized they needed to tear out the old tile to do the repairs, we decided to retile the entire shower up to the ceiling (beyond the previous tile height) and replace the fixtures, which leaked. We then broadened the update to include a new vanity and toilet. We encountered plumbing and electrical problems along the way, requiring services from plumbers, electricians, countertop installers, and painters who could repair and paint the ensuing holes in both the bathroom floor and ceiling. Along the way, The Grout Medic was very flexible and worked around the additional contractors. They were pleasant to have around our home, and scheduling was done at our convenience. The Grout Medic did all the work we asked. They had planned to install the new toilet for us, but when plumbing issues became evident, they admitted their need for a licensed plumber. I came to hate the phrase, "Ma'am, can we show you something?" because I knew something else was going to require additional attention and money. However, the problems were almost all pre-existing and could have caused water damage to our home if not corrected.

I cannot find the bill so I have not listed the amount but it was VERY reasonable. The work was professionally done and everything was left clean. They even helped clean up some plastic basin discoloration and polished the chrome fittings. I am very pleased with the work and would highly recommend this company. I do have additional work that needs to be done and this company will certainly get my business.

I inquired and they got right back to me. They came the next day to give me an estimate and scheduled the work for the dates that were convenient to us. They came and worked long and hard to complete the job in the 3 days allocated to it. They did some extra caulking around the kitchen sink while they were here to make sure we would not get leaks around the sink. Upon completion of the work they gave us instructions on how to clean the tile in the showers and floors and simultaneously keep the grout and caulking sealed. All in all an excellent job was done for us.

I called the Grout Medic after tiles began to fall off the wall when I was removing caulk along the wall and the tub. George came out the next day to assess my mess and we negotiated a price for the work and it was scheduled for the following Thursday. At 7:30 am his man arrived and got right to work. The wall was repaired, tub re-grouted, caulked and the tiles polished by noontime. George came by and checked on the work. Overall, this was a pleasant experience. The shower/tub looks brand new.

Tub was leaking into floor below because the caulking in the shower was old and needed replacing. I contacted Grout Medics and got a quick response. George came out within a few days and gave an estimate. We decided to replace grout in shower also. Scheduled an appt 3 weeks out. Job went smoothly and shower and bath where they worked looks great. Very professional, responsive company. I can easily recommend them.

Within a week I went from calling for an estimate to having two bathrooms that look new again. George came the day after I called to give an estimate. He was on time and very pleasant. George explained the difference between working with standard grout and sanded grout and worked up the estimate for both bathrooms. The tile work was 9 years old and had built up mineral deposits, soap deposits, missing caulk, cracked grout, and discoloration. George recommended cleaning and sealing the floors, which we did. The technician, Charlie, arrived on time and was personable and professional. Charlie's work was outstanding. When cleaning alone did not restore the shower with the sanded grout to like-new condition, Charlie and George recommended color-sealing. Charlie did an excellent job painting the grout lines and the shower looks like new. The standard regrout looks amazing. The lines are thin and straight and the shower looks like new again. George promised that we would be very happy with the results and he was right.

This was a very positive experience. George arrived on time for the estimate. During the day that the first job (kitchen floor)was being worked on we asked about doing the floor in the utility room and the shower floor. These two jobs were scheduled for two weeks later. Again, Danny, the technician, showed up on time as scheduled. The quality of the work was excellent. The floors look as good as new and the shower floor also looks great. Both George and Danny were very professional and knowledgeable. We are very pleased that we had the work done and would call the Grout Medic again for any future projects.
