The Grout Medic - Northern VA

I wish that I could give this place more than a C rating, because the job was well done in the end. However, I have to knock a couple of grades off because it did take multiple visits to get the job done as well as it is. I'll start at the beginning. I contacted Grout Medic, and they came and gave me a free estimate. The price was quite fair, the people who did the estimate were polite, professional, on time, and thorough. I was very happy with my estimate. A week later, 3 men arrived to do the job: replace 2 rows of tile in my shower, re-grout and re-caulk the master shower, and re-grout/re-caulk the guest shower. The men arrived on time, were polite, and did the job in good time. Unfortunately, I was in the middle of a teleconference when they were done, and I didn't have time to thoroughly review the job before they left. In my Master bathroom, caulk had been smeared all over the floor, and a place where there'd been a leak had been poorly sealed - it was still cracked. In my guest bath, they had used white caulk around the fixtures instead of the standard clear (which they used in the Master bath). They had also cracked a tile and chipped a couple other ones -- nothing had been said to me. Fortunately, Grout Medic was very responsive when I called to alert them to what had happened. They sent someone out the next day to fix things; unfortunately, he was unable to replace the cracked tile, but Grout Medic sent someone again the day after that to replace the tile. In the end, the job was well done, and I appreciate that they came back out to fix the mistakes. Every technician was polite and on time. The price I was quoted was exactly what I paid. I would recommend The Grout Medic to others, but I would also recommend that you closely check any work you have done just to be sure everything is up to par. I believe the mistakes were made by only one of the men who was working on my bathrooms.

Prompt response and quote. Very professional. The young gentleman, Charley, who spent two days on his hands and knees could not have been more pleasant. The grout repaint came out beautifully, and the slate was cleaned well. So the job went perfectly. My only issue was the price -- $1200 for about 12 hours work. Then again, it's something I would have never done myself.

I had received 2 other quotes and they were ridiculously high. I finally called The Grout Medic and David came out to give me an estimate. Right off the bat, David was polite, friendly and on time. He put on little booties before coming into the house, which is very considerate. The Grout Medic?s quote came in about half of the other quotes so I decided to go ahead with them. The day the work was to be performed; the technical came on time and went immediately to work. He torn up all the old tile carefully and notified me that the wrong glue was used, which is why the grout kept chipping up. He worked for about 5 hours straight and the floor now looks beautiful and leveled correctly. The technician even cleanedup after himself. I received 10% my total because I had an Angie?s List account. Overall, I had a great experience from beginning to end with The Grout Medic and would use them again.

My experience with the Grout Medic was truly outstanding from start to finish. George responded to all of my email queries with quick and informative responses. When he arrived to provide an estimate, he was informative and honest--and he was upfront when a particular service might be overkill for our situation. Also, because he wasn't certain whether a certain treatment would clean a shower floor adequately, he told me that they could try it a bit but then stop if it wasn't yielding results (at no charge). The estimate was very reasonable. George accompanied the main worker to our house, mostly to make sure the worker understood all components of the job. George even checked in during and after the work was done to ensure things were going well. The worker asked me several times what I thought about his work. A couple of times, I had questions about a few places where the work might have been not 100% perfect. In both cases, the worker addressed the concern immediately with a positive attitude. The final result was terrific. This is one of those rare times when I can honestly say my experience was positive from start to finish. George clearly takes pride in offering excellent service.

Grout Medic representative was very well-informed and equipped to make an immediate estimate of the job. Estimate was a bit higher than I had anticipated, but I needed it done and Angie's List reviews had been positive. Technician arrived promptly. Was very thorough, but careful with the old tile. He ran into a problem when the glaze on the tub (I had had it re-glazed a couple of years ago) came away in spots as he cut out the old caulk, but he was able to cover it, so it wouldn't be noticeable until I can get it repaired. Cleaned up after he was done. Grout Medic supervisor was there at the beginning of the job and came by to check on things as job came to a close. Gave me recommendations on products to use in future to care for the new grout and for cleaning the tile and grout in future, as well as reference for company to use to repair glazing on tub. Overall, good job.

They gutted the old shower down to the studs and replaced everything to build our new tile shower! They did fabulous job! They were punctual, professional, and clean in their work. I would recommend them!

It was a great experience because the people I dealt with were professional, courteous, and honest. Unable to do the work needed because it was beyond the scope, I was pointed in the direction of others who could help. So, a fine company that I will reach out to when it's time to fix my own bathroom which isn't as old or peculiar.

Grout Medic has great customer service. I was impressed with everything from the first phone call to the end of the job. The estimator showed up exactly when he said he would and quoted a great price. The workers showed up today on time and tiled the area perfectly. I am very happy with the work.

The job was perfect in all respects. The technician was on time and friendly. It was a rainy day, so he put plastic shoe covers over his shoes before entering the house. His work was exceptional and was done precisely in accordance with our desired outcome.

Their specialist did an excellent job within the promised period. It took a while (approximately 2 month) until they could come out. We did think the cost was a little high ($1300 for about 12 hours of work), but our aging 1940s bathroom looks remarkably improved. And removing tile set in concrete would have been far more costly, time consuming, and messy.

The technician, Justin, arr ived on time, with George the supervisor. He worked from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm non stop and did not even stop for lunch. A very hard worker. George also came by 3 times to make sure all was was going ok. He cleaned up well and now our bathroom sparkles.

One of the workers seemed to be in a hurry, however the company was very helpful, when I called they came back out to correct the problem.

Estimate was right on. Service was scheduled very quickly. Installer was very quiet and professional. We barely knew he was in the house. Considering what a messy job this was, he cleaned it up well. We had a lot of little issues for this job and he fixed every one of them. We would hire them again.

Charlie the technician arrived right at 7:30AM and explained what he was going to be doing. He got setup very quickly and started right into the job. George Collins who did the original quote arrived on site around 8:15AM to ensure everything was going as planned. When Charlie was totally complete the area was totally clean. He then explained the care of the grout and caulk and when we could use the bathrooms. I was very impressed with the fast response and follow-up. I would use them again.

Owner provided estimate, and on scheduled day, introduced the technician and walked me through the process. He also provided information on how to clean and maintain the work, so that it wouldn't need to be done repeatedly.

Very punctual, professional, and informative, The Grout Medic basically did everything right - showed up on time for a fair estimate that they explained in detail, worked with my schedule to perform the actual work, and fixed everything that needed to be fixed. The resulting work blends right in with the original tile, is absolutely watertight, looks fantastic, and we couldn't be happier.

It was fine. We didn't have any complaints. I thought they were going to do the whole shower but I must have misunderstood them because they only did the creases and major corners. I asked them for a quote for the upstairs bathroom and it was pretty reasonable but we haven't done it yet. If we do it, I'm going to ask if they are going to grout the entire shower or just the creases. The quality of what they did was great.

I thought he was very professional and helpful in decided what to do. Ultimately, we could not afford the service but would still like to have the work completed at some point.

They are currently working on it now. They were great during the quoting process. I liked everything and they are just a very great company.

George of the Grout Medic was very responsive to our calls and was able to work in a time to re-grout a section of our upstairs guest bathroom shower where the grout had degraded and was allowing water to leak underneath and onto the ceiling of the main floor. Thanks to a cancellation, George was able to schedule a time within a couple of days for his staff get the work done at our house. The re-grouting took care of the leak problem and the grout used was a perfect match. We had the Grout Medic also re-caulk all the corner vertical lines and around the bases of both of our upstairs showers. We also had the Grout Medic re-caulk around all the bathroom sinks and the kitchen sink. In each case, the old caulk was removed and new silicone caulk was applied. Everything turned out great and made our showers and sinks look fresh and new. Everyone associated with the Grout Medic was professional, responsive and got the work done quickly. The Grout Medic takes pride in it's work and quality and we will use them again when needed.

Overall I couldn't be happier with the service received from Grout Medic. The before-and-after pictures on their website were exactly what happened with my disgusting shower, which hadn't been well cleaned by previous owner in probably 5 years. I can't believe how good the shower and tile floor look now in master bathroom! Tearing out and replacing the tile would have been thousands of dollars, whereas Grout Medic only cost $720 (with the Angie's List discount). I am a very happy customer. Okay, on to the specifics: The estimate process--George was punctual and looked over the job carefully to give me an estimate. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and even gave me some tips on how to clean the shower to prevent the mold from coming back. He explained what was included in the service and gave me a written estimate. I called back a few days later to schedule the work and they were able to accommodate me in a reasonable amount of time, about 2 weeks out if I recall. The actual service--The technician (Justin) was also punctual and spent about 6 hours in my bathroom doing the work. He was quiet and worked diligently, taking just one short break while he was here. As I said before, I couldn't believe the transformation. It looked fabulous! Justin also explained how to keep the shower and floor clean. Followup--George called me to followup after the service and I told him I was extremely pleased with the outcome. He said to call if there was anything problem related to the work that might come up later. So, a few weeks later I noticed a few places where the grout didn't seem as white any more and I called George. He and Justin came out the next day to look at the problem and fix it. It really was a minor problem, but now the shower looks good as new again and Grout Medic's prompt response to my request for a followup visit was much appreciated.
