The inspection and tune up went great, and the identification of the malfunctioning condensation pump was exactly what this type of inspection is intended to identify. This most certainly would have led the AC to stop working at some point later in the summer. However, when the tech offered to replace the pump, I expected a reasonable cost for the pump. I was charged $260 for the pump and installation. I have since found that the pump retails at most retail stores for under $60, and the installation consists of unplugging the old pump, plugging in the new pump, and reconnecting 2 hoses that do not even have clamps. While I was happy with the service, I will not be able to trust this company to be competitive on pricing in the future. For something this small, I did not anticipate needing to price check. $120 or less would have been reasonable for this service (and is what another company quoted after the fact). Updated on July 20, 2014 - The general manager felt the need to deflect the fact that I have received 4 additional quotes for the same service, each less than half what I was charged. While I understand how to run a business (I run a very successful one myself), his explanation is exactly why I went with another company to purchase and install my new heat pump system. This company cannot be trusted to offer a fair and competitive fee. I highly recommend competitive quotes when considering this company.

They came the same day, on a Sunday with no extra charges! It was marvelous! They were very courteous and the air conditioning is up and running again. I would use them again in the future and recommend them to others.

This afternoon, I realized that our house was extremely warm and the AC didn't seem to be working. I called Preferred at 2:30 and by 4:00 they had a crew at my house. Richard and his assistant were very prompt and had the issue fixed within an hour. I called at least ten other places and was told that nobody was available today. I was so thrilled to get it fixed on such short notice. I will definitely use this company again. I feel that the cost was good, especially for the immediate service!

They are fantastic i will definitely use them again, they gave me a free annual service. because i referred them top a friend, they are very kind, they are very knowledgeable and they have people who have been in the business for 20 years. They were the only ones who were able to fix the central heating and air conditioning system in the old house and they were a third of the price of some of the quotes that i got. They even put improvements like creating the ventilation in the roof of the house, the only thing they did not do was to fix the boiler. They were excellent.

Had a very positive experience with this company. When my air conditioner broke on a Saturday, I was desperate to find someone to come out that day to repair it. It got as hot as 87 degrees in my upstairs, and with two little kids and two dogs at home and a husband out of town, I really wanted to fix the problem soon. Unfortunately, many of the A/C repair companies don't do Saturday appointments. When I called Preferred Heating & Cooling, I reached Silvio. He agreed to come that evening to look at the A/C. He came right as he said he would (after calling a half-hour ahead to confirm he was coming), was polite and courteous, and was able to diagnose the problem immediately. He took the time to explain the problem to me (and other things that COULD have gone wrong with the system, and to look out for). He fixed the problem quickly, again, explained what he had done, and was on his way. Very positive experience with this company and with Silvio, in particular. Would definitely recommend to my neighbors.

They were punctual. They explained what they were checking and what they were finding. The gave me some routine maintenance advice that i could do on my own. Their price was comparable.

Very professional. Responded to online appt. request very quickly. Tech knew the system well and took time to check it out completely. We had low coolant, so he discussed the options and was clear about the cost. We chose to top it off and wait to see if we had a leak. Solved our problem quickly (and cleanly). We are very happy with the service and won't hesitate to call them again.

Richard was prompt, professional and explained the problems we had with our a/c. He was able to fix the trouble with the evaporator and checked the other components of our a/c. This was my first experience with Preferred and will not be the last. I highly recommend this firm.

The customer service contact was excellent. I had to reschedule twice and they were very understanding and accommodating. The service technician was friendly, extremely competent, and thorough. I would highly recommend this company to anyone in the area.

Service technician arrived about 20 minutes after scheduled time. Overall that's still on time in my book. Very professional and explained everything to my satisfaction. My HVAC was working fine (I thought) and I received a clean bill of health from the technician. It is a breath of fresh air that i wasn't tried to be talked into anything extra. Thanks

Very well. They were very responsive and accommodated me as far as time that I requested. The technichian called me approx. 15 mins before he arrived which I also requested. Once there he pretty much to me step by step through the process and made several suggestions that I should do and what could wait which I really appreciated. All in all it went well...wish I didn' t have to spend that amount of money on freeon but at least my ac is working now!

The Technician was Silvio, who was completely honest and transparent. Diagnosed that i had a larger problem. Then presented multiple solutions, without favoring one in particular. Confirmed his diagnosis with another HVAC tech. Silvio, was the consumate professional and extremely knowledgeable. Will be engaging their services for the needed major fix.

Silvio, their lead tech, came this morning to do the service. He called ahead to let me know he was going to be a bit delayed due to traffic, which was perfectly understandable for an 8am call and appreciated. He took his time and thoroughly reviewed and checked both systems. He went the extra mile perform some extras like connecting some overflow shut-offs that had been ignored by all past HVAC firms. He gave me honest and practical information on the state of the system, provided recommendations and answered all my questions. He took the effort to diagnose and double check some initial irregular readings to make sure that system was working properly. Silvio was professional, personable, knowledgeable and, I feel, trustworthy. Very good experience overall.

Great service, professional technician who was on time and explained what he was doing and why. Gave me a price up front for additional work I requested and stuck to that price.

The technician called before coming over and arrived within the hour block that they had told me he would. I loved that they said "he'll be there between 8a-9a" and not a 4 or 8 hour block like some other companies. He diagnosed the problem quickly, reviewed all of my options and once I decided how we wee going to proceed, he quickly completed the work. Definitely a great experience all around with this company!

The service provider performed a detailed inspection and cleaning of the heating systems. He reviewed all the work performed in detail as well as providing this detail in writing. I was pleased with the professionalism and service and intend to use this company again.

One of the first to respond to my query. Gave me an appointment on the date and time I requested. Arrived a few minutes early, and waited in his vehicle until my appointment time. Very professional. Price was high for units being proposed - but not the highest of the four estimates I got. All in all, great to deal with, but price a little high.

Silvio arrived on time and was very friendly and knowledgeable. He basically had to undo the mistake of a previous technician (see my review of the Richards HVAC company for more on that.

They did a great job. They were quick, responsive, very professional, and inexpensive.

Initial diagnosis was inclomplete, but the owner was quick to make corrections.

My high efficiency furnace (installed by someone else) was expelling water into my neighbor's driveway, which was turning to ice, and making it slippery for them. When we had the extremely cold weather in January, the pipes froze closed! I needed to find a better solution! I contacted several people, but Preferred had the solution that made the most sense to me, and they were able to take care of it the next day! When I had a follow-up issue, they came promptly to address my concerns. It turned out they hadn't done anything wrong, but they came to take a look at it as soon as I called.

Preferred heating and cooling just replaced my furnace, AC, and did some duct work for my house. I called 6 companies for quotes on replacement HVAC systems when ours was dying. Of those 6, only 3 got back to me with quotes, and Preferred was the only one willing to talk through options with me on the phone and give me information before having them come out. In the end, I went with Preferred even though they weren't the cheapest (they were close though) because they were absolutely one of the best to work with. Here's a few places where they excelled: * Gave us a specific time that they would show up for both the quote and the install, and were there within a few minutes of that. * Talked to us about our current system to see if it would they could repair it and save us some money, before doing a quote on the new system. * Gave us quotes on entry level and high end systems -- explained the differences but didn't push the high end equipment at us. * No pressure whatsoever. Gave us time to decide. They were also transparent with their costs. With them I understood why things cost what they did. * All 3 of the guys we had here at the house, as well as the owner who called me on the phone, were very knowledge, professional, low pressure, and willing to help. And they were great with kids -- even our very curious 5 year old. The guys doing the install worked hard and stayed late to get it all done in one day (they were at our house over 11 hours), and still took time to check and explain everything before hitting the road. They even turned around and came back when they saw my five year old running behind them waving a picture he drew for them. Highly recommend these guys.

There was an issue with getting the service scheduled. The person I spoke with said that they did NOT have my contact information and yet this was not the first time I was purchasing their services through Angie's List. Other than that glitch, the service went just fine. The technician brought all of their own materials and once again cleaned up after himself. We also received a list of things that need to be repaired or upgraded as well as a maintenance contract offer, but to my delight there was no hard sell on any of it. I will continue to use their services in the future.
