Emergency Services Offered
Services we offer
We perform any residential heating, cooling, plumbing, or electrical repair or installation for an existing home. Financing is available for any repair or installation greater than $500.
Services we don't offer
We do not offer any services in Maryland or the District of Columbia, and we do not offer services for new construction. We service gas log fireplaces, but not wood-burning fireplaces. We no longer offer duct cleaning. We do not offer appliance services or standalone excavating.
I have used Parrish for a long time, but am changing after today's experience. They cancelled a visit last month, due to emergencies, which I understood. However, I believed they should prioritize my next visit, which I asked that they do, since I had already arranged my schedule once to have them come. I requested the first visit in the morning. They gave me a 3 hour window, and called 7 minutes before the end of the 3 hours to say they were a little late. I refused service because they were late and because I learned they had a staff meeting that morning, which was why they were late. No phone call to update me until 7 minutes prior to the end of the time frame. When I spoke with a supervisor to reschedule, I requested a shorter window, but the only window they could give was 2 hours. Good customer service would have been to call me to reschedule as soon as they knew about their meeting.
Description of Work: Work was not completed, as I did not permit them into my home due to their being late and not providing me with an update that I could not be their first morning visit.

Parrish is an absolute nightmare to work with and I have told my home warranty company they are not allowed back in my house. My kitchen was flooding, water coming out of the dishwasher, garbage disposal leaking, sink over flowing as it all started when the dishwasher was running. We were bailing water out into the toilet. I called home warranty and they listed me as an emergency and got on the phone themselves to find someone that would come out. Parris said they could come the next morning. Home warranty company told me to call Parrish and finalize the details and they would be out the next morning. I called Parrish right after hanging up with home warranty and Parrish could no longer come in the morning, it would have to be afternoon early evening. I said okay. Than I get a call back that they can't come at all the next day, which is Saturday and I have to move to Sunday. I talked to a supervisor and told them I was flooding and was told I would get serviced. I could not do it on Sunday, as I had to go to the airport 1 1/2 hours away to pick up my minor child that was flying home and the flight was right in the middle of the 2 time slots they had for me. the supervisor got nasty and told me I had to switch, no choice or she would cancel me out of the system completely. I ended up moving to Monday morning for the repair. It was a nightmare, them calling multiple times, different stories, changing times, days, this just barely covers what I went through, but it gives you a picture of the nightmare.

As indicated above, we had several false starts. However, when the last technician came out and isolated the problem, the system was replaced and no further issues have been experienced. The last technician was very professional and knew what he was doing. The two previous techs who responded to the 2-10 Warranty call, where very inexperienced (Parrish let the first tech go after our initial visit). If the last tech, Dave Sasser, had not shown up and properly identified the problem, we would have changed from Parrish. Dave was honest and told us in plain, understandable facts what the problem was and offered his recommendation on how to fix it. This all occurred during a major heat wave last summer. Based on our trust and confidence in Dave and Parrish, we ordered the new heating and cooling units. They were installed in a very timely and extremely satisfactory manner. The old units were replaced, no debris were left, the job site was properly cleaned, and all new products were installed in a very professional manner. Would highly recommend Parrish. .
Description of Work: Initial response was for a 2-10 Warranty Call. Issue was water leaking from the internal coil for the Air Conditioner. First attempt involved recharging the outside cooling system. This lasted about 3 days, then the system began to leak again. The next technician vacuumed the coils and this lasted about two days. Finally a third technician, Dave Sasser, from Parrish came out and identified the actual problem as a defected cooling coil in the inside unit. We elected to replace both the air conditioning and furnace vice just replacing the coil. Once this was compete, the a/c started working properly, and we had no problems with the furnace this past winter.

Can't even begin to describe all the problems we had with Parrish. Issue was with a gas hot water heat, only 3 years old, still under warranty that Parrish installed as part of a Home Warranty replacement. Tech arrived on a Friday, was clearly unfamiliar with the water heater. Asked us for the manual which we provided. Originally diagnosed the problem as a dirty filter. Cleaned the heating element (3x) and it didn't resolve the problem. Then said the ignitor switch was bad. This was about 5 pm. Told us he "thought" he could get the part from a local plumbing supply store & come back out to install tomorrow. As we'd already been w/out hot water for 3 days (family of 7 so we weren't very trusting), we called the manufacturer to see if they had the part. Manufacturer (State) said they had the part & could overnight. Plumber was convinced that the local plumbing supply store had the part. He left, assuring us he'd be back the next day to install. Next day comes, no contact. We call the company & they say the plumber isn't even on the schedule. They track him down & say the store didn't have the part & it would have to be overnighted from the Manufacturer (same one who could have done it the night before) but it wouldn't arrive until Tuesday (that would be a week w/o hot water - my wife is ready to stab ME w/a fork at this point). I call Parrish on Monday morning to confirm that the part had been ordered & I requested an order tracking number. Customer service rep has no idea what the tracking number is (because she "... doesn't do parts ordering stuff"). I ask her to find out. She calls me back and says .... wait for it ... "sorry, we have bad news." Says she spoke w/the tech & he FELT "it would be quicker to order thru the local plumbing supply store than the manufacturer." Now the part won't be in until Wednesday! I call Parrish ~ 1030 & ask to speak to a manager. Service rep says they're "in meetings." When could I talk to one I ask. "They'll be in meetings until 1:00 pm." Really? 2.5 hours of meetings about PLUMBING? I ask to have a manager contact me. My wife, on her second valium and leaving behind a trail of smashed dishes, calls they manufacturer (State) directly. They say, "yes ma'am, we'll overnight the part right now. You'll have it tomorrow (Tuesday). By the way, you really don't need a plumber to put it on. You can do it yourself." 1:45 & ... you guessed it, ... no call. I contact Parrish again & tell them I want someone out to my house tomorrow to install the part. Customer supervisor says, "I'll see what I can do." Hard to believe these people are still in business. Use everyone else before you call Parrish!
Description of Work: Inspected the hot water heater which wasn't producing hot water. Cleaned the heating element (3 times) and removed the ignitor switch. Said he would have the part overnighted.

Parrish Services were very good. The air conditioner broke and we have a home owner warranty on the house because we are selling it. That was who I had to use. They called me back immediately after I called them. They came out either the next morning or the one after that to give me an estimate. Two days later they were back and replaced the whole thing. It took them an hour and a half to replace it, they were clean, and they were gone. They were fine, except that it wasn't covered under my home owner's warranty, but that's not their fault. I couldn't have asked for anybody more responsive. Punctuality - they were here before they were supposed to be! They were early...

Parrish Services are coming this week on Friday to check our systems. They come whenever I need them. We have a plan with them and we pay a monthly charge of USD 8 and the check-ups are free and you get a discount on the parts. Everything has been great since the air conditioner went down in the middle of the summer, they helped out and they are not about selling whatever you don't need and just do what you need and that is good for your budget.

We are sorry we were not able to assist this homeowner with her service issue and we did not effectively communicate our pricing policies. We DO offer free estimates for installation and replacement of systems. We do not offer free service calls. So, for example, if a homeowner wanted the pipes to be replaced rather than repaired, we would have offered a free sales estimate. If we must send a trained service technician to the home, we do have a $106 trip fee that includes a basic diagnostic charge. We waive the $106 trip charge for our service agreement contract customers as well as first-time customers. Without seeing a service problem firsthand, we are unable to estimate the scope of the work or its associated price. Once we do come to a home and diagnose the problem, we offer worry-free, flat rate pricing that we discuss up front. Only after we've discussed the diagnosis, options, and the pricing with the homeowner and gained their authorization do we conduct repairs. If a homeowner would like to schedule a service visit with no trip charge, just give us a call and let us know you have (or want) a service agreement or that it's the first time you're having us out. Thank you!

I had used Parrish in the past with adequate to excellent results with both HVAC and plumbing. I elected to renew my HVAC service plan with Parrish and set up the AC check. Summer elected to come early in early April and got a call from Parrish to reschedule my check to later in the month due to folks without AC. I thought it was tacky that I wasn't given the option of keeping my appt. and while I do sympathize with those who lost AC, I'm trying to be proactive in order to be ready for the heat of summer. I was able to reschedule for two days later than planned only to get a phone call 4 hours before the technicians were suppose to show only to cancel again. I asked to cancel my account I had with them and they were surprised. I figured that if they are that understaffed that they cannot keep to their schedule, over promise and under deliver, I would no longer give them my custom. I was able to follow up with my credit card company and they had already received the credit back from Parrish so I must be fair and give kudos to their billing department.
Description of Work: The company rescheduled the time they were supposed to come out twice.

We are certainly sorry that being able to quickly cancel your payment was the highlight of our service experience! While we certainly try to prioritize our workload to help those in most need first, there's no excuse for rescheduling a regular customer unless it's truly convenient for him or her. Scheduling was a bit difficult and unnerving since we had an active leak that has the potential to grow into a big problem. They couldn't check things out right away. We called on a Monday and they couldn't come until Friday. It made us very nervous that there could have been a substantial leak while we waited for them. I guess it's not an emergency? Their visit was only a couple of minutes and only to look at what was going on so not sure why someone couldn't swing by sooner and save us a week of nervousness. Something strange happened on this visit as well, they asked for payment of the additional costs up front. I've never heard of that and when we called them out on it they backed away from requiring payment then. Then we had to wait for the new tank to be ordered which took another 6 days. They came by today at 2 for a 12-4 window and put the new tank in. Installation seems ok but see pictures for messy wiring at the bottom, expansion tank strapping and horizontal orientation into storage area and the angled gas supply pipe now. One additional comment on the first visit, the tech placed about 7 parrish stickers all over the basement mechanical equipment and breaker panel(?). Do they get paid by how many stickers they place?
Description of Work: Our water heater sprung a leak a couple of weeks after Parrish replaced a thermal expansion valve with an expansion tank. Seemed a mysterious coincidence. Our home warranty company had them come out. They replaced the water tank as well as some ancillary parts. It was annoying the additional costs that were required to replace the WH which were not covered by the warranty. Like disposal fee, dielectric connections, drip pan,etc that are part of the replacement. I think some of these parts could have been optional or should be included.

Thank you for your candid feedback. We are sorry it did take us so long to completely resolve your problem. Unfortunately, when we are dispatched by your home warranty company, we are bound by our contract with them. The list of non covered items is based on your contract with your home warranty company, and we are bound to those terms, as well. We also receive many parts directly from the home warranty company, so we are obligated to wait rather than using our own stock. If you ever have an emergency and don't feel like being restricted by your home warranty contract, you can always contract with us directly and receive priority service and pricing. As for the stickers, we certainly do like to let people know we can take care of your home's mechanical systems (although the tech should be asking permission). If you'd like us to remove it, we do have a special tool that will do the trick.

Many weeks before the work was done I discussed with Parrish options to make sure my electrical wiring was safe. I ultimately decided on the replacement and upgrade of my maiin electrical panel. I was provided with detailed quotes and the office staff was very responsive in scheduling the work. The electricians took their time to make sure the work was done properly and even identified safety hazards that they fixed/repaired. Hazards that I had no idea existed. I have been a customer of Parrish Services for years. I rely on their experts to work with me on evaluating my home for safety. I would recommend them highly.
Description of Work: Replaced/Upgraded main electrical panel and cables. Updated grounding services for safety. Installed correct breaker sizes for circuits. Disconnected unused circuits and incorrect wiring and circuits installed by prior homeowner. Installed proper circuit for microwave. Installed whole house surge protector. Identified and repaired faulty main cable wiring. Overall identified and repaired electrical safety hazards.

I purchased an 21 KW generator from Costco and after several quotes from competing Electrical Contractors selected Parrish to do the work. They quoted us around 2600 from the work plus 1200 for the trenching from generator to the house. We decided to do the trenching ourselves and saved the cash. They made several visits prior to installation to move the generator into place, map out what they needed to do and answer our questions as to the what, when, how, why of what we wanted to accomplish. They decided it would take a couple of days to do everything, and we scheduled the installation. On the week the install two electricians showed up on time and began work in rainy, freezing temperatures. They put in hard 8-10 hour days for the next several days installing and rewiring my house electrical system. They had never worked with an Cummins Onan before but they followed the manuals and did an excellent job. Why an excellent job? because it works perfectly. We've lost power twice since ten and each time the generator has fired up and run automatically with out a disruption to our home.

Went great. Tech was an hour early, but they called to confirm I would be here. He also called when he was 10 minutes out. Nice guy, well educated about gas systems, and was friendly. The tech walked around the house with me, tried different things with our gas fireplace to reproduce the issue, checked the basement. Very thorough. My only complaint is they have a new paperless payment system (which I am all for going paperless) but it took much longer than it should have, and they stopped taking American Express. This is why I rated them a B on "Professionalism"
Description of Work: Parrish came out and checked the outdoor gas line they ran for us 8 years ago. I thought we might have a leak going to our grill, but the tech ran the gas detector around all the joint areas and in the grill and could not find any evidence of a leak.

When we first moved into the 20+ year old home, we were dealing with equipment that was installed when the house was built. I was impressed with Parrish' professionalism and thoroughness in the initial inspection/assessment walk-through so I entered into a service agreement that included two seasonal checks/system setup. This is their TSP program. When the water heater ultimately failed, Parrish responded same day to assess what needed to be done and had the new system up and running next day. I was very pleased with the responsiveness, the quality and the professionalism of the mechanics. The price, while on the high side, was discounted for my participation in the TSP program and was commensurate with the level of quality. With information provided during the energy audit, I was able to take action myself to reduce electrical costs and plan out the future replacement of my AC systems. Allergies had been a problem in the house since our move-in and the duct cleaning seemed to help (they found pet hair and dander). Over two spring seasons (due to cash flow) we replaced the old AC units with high efficiency units, adding the Aprilaire filters on both. Due to excessive dryness in the winter months, I added a humidifier to the larger unit. I was impressed with the quality of the installation and the advice provided on the operation and control of the units. I am very pleased with the performance of the equipment and have retained Parrish on the TSP program for peace of mind and a set of professional eyes on the systems on a regular basis.
Description of Work: Originally began with a service contract to extend the life of equipment that was 20+ years old when we moved into the house in 2003. 2006 - I used Parrish to replace my old water heater tank with a Rinnai tankless water heating system. 2007 - Parrish performed free energy audit to help reduce my electricity costs; ductwork cleaning 2008 - Hired Parrish to replace a 2 ton AC unit for the top floor of the house 2010 - Hired Parrish to replace a 6 ton AC unit for the bottom two floors of the house

Parrish Services was assigned to us by our home warranty company to fix our heating/air conditioning unit which was also under the manufacturer's warranty. Parrish Services first came out at the beginning of September and decided the motor and module needed to be replaced. A different tech came back a week later with the module only and told us that we really needed to purchase a service contract with Parrish. He spent 5 hours at our home, mostly on the phone trying to get things to work. He tried to tell us that everything was working when it wasn't. The company sent yet another different tech with the "new" motor and another module. He also told us that everything was working when it wasn't. So they decided then that the unit needed a new board. A week and a half later the "new" board was installed and that still didn't fix the problem. After 5 weeks of this, we were finally able to get another company in to fix the problem. They found (by tracing the serial numbers) that the so-called "new" parts were not actually new. I will never use Parrish Services for anything. They are unprofessional and just looking to make a quick buck.
Description of Work: Our heating/air conditioner unit was not blowing air. Parrish Services replaced the module, motor and board, but couldn't get it to work. We had to contact another company to fix the problems that were compounded by Parrish Services.
