Emergency Services Offered
Services we offer
We perform any residential heating, cooling, plumbing, or electrical repair or installation for an existing home. Financing is available for any repair or installation greater than $500.
Services we don't offer
We do not offer any services in Maryland or the District of Columbia, and we do not offer services for new construction. We service gas log fireplaces, but not wood-burning fireplaces. We no longer offer duct cleaning. We do not offer appliance services or standalone excavating.
Parrish Services installed a new AC for us in May of 2022. The night of installation, it leaked through our attic, into our master bedroom and hallway, causing major damage. Parrish Services gave us the runaround on repair of the home for over a month, and reneged on their promise to make things right for us, even after admitting that the job that was done was terrible and "embarrassing." Now they won't return phone calls or emails. Stay away from this company.

I originally contracted with Parrish in February 2021 to investigate why were were not getting much heat from the zone of our two-zone geothermal HVAC that covers the top two floors of our town home. The tech, Joe, informed me that there was air in the line and the the auxiliary heat had not been wired appropriately when the system was installed in 2015. Joe returned when we were away (a neighbor kindly let him into our home) to determine what parts he would need to purge the system of air. At that time, he closed the valve that provides heated or cooled water (as the case may be) to the second floor air handler but never advised me of this. When we returned to the house a month or so later, the weather had turned warmer, and I turned on the AC. I then went to the basement for an unrelated reason and heard the water circulation pump for the upstairs air handler making and awful sound. It was also scalding hot. I immediately saw that the valve had been turned off (by Joe) and promptly turned off this zone. By this point, however, the pump was ruined. Parrish was good enough to replace the pump gratis, but Joe installed it improperly such that it leaked. He returned a few days later to reinstall it, but it continued to leak. Upon returning a 3rd time, he informed me that the fittings onto which the pump is bolted were no longer able to create a good seal and that the pump would continue to leak unless the manifold/plumbing was all replaced. The quote was $4800! I asked the owner, Alan Givens, to consider discounting that proposal a bit, given that his employee was in part responsible for having to replace the pump in the first place. No response. I called a few times and followed up with emails and was told that the matter was in the owner’s hands and that customers were not permitted to speak directly to him. Finally, after inquiring yet again, I was told this morning that (1) the owner would not discount the $4800 proposal and (2) Parrish no longer wanted to work on the job. I have no air conditioning on the top two floors of my town home and have been left completely high and dry by this extraordinarily unprofessional company. When I learned that Givens was voted HVAC executive of the year recently, I was floored. His unprofessionalism in this matter is second to none, and I would strongly recommend never using this company for anything.

Once I found out about the cost of the service, I did not get it done.
Description of Work: Replacement of inducer motor in my gas furnace. Although the technician was prompt, professional and capable (he did some work before), the cost to replace the part was astronomical. So, I had another service come and replace the part for half the price.

I explained when I called what I needed done and could not get a price. Was told they had to look at the fireplace and the estimate would cost $106. I thought that was ridiculous but need it done so went ahead. The guy just came and wanted $1325.00 to install a part that I had. OUTRAGEOUS! They knew what I needed and could have given me a price over the phone but set me up to waste my day waiting for them and then have a price 5 to 7 times what I have been quoted by other contractors. SERIOUSLY? I am a Realtor and use a lot of contractors and was anxious to try Parrish. What a huge mistake! I have never left a negative review for anyone but my hands are shaking I am so angry over this.

He made everything sound worst than what it really was. He claimed it will be a very expensive repair. He also claimed that my water heater is a disaster and need replaced, he claimed that my sump pump is installed incorrectly which was not that case. He claimed that my water is going to explode because of the gas leak. I had someone look at it and it's fine. However, they found that he left some wires lose and that's all was wrong with it.

They came out but not before we had to call the owner of the company twice (who has been very ill for quite some time) after the owner's wife was rude, very unpleasant, told me that she didn't want our business, that she had 50,000 customers, etc., and hung up! Basically, they didn't want to take responsibility for the damage or the defective work they had performed less than a year earlier. The technician came w/a helper, lifted the unit, and found that the pan had not been level, causing it to spill out of the back, therefore not setting off the sensor in the pan which would have shut down the unit and have stopped the extensive water damage to the floor below. He replaced the pan, said the owner, Mr. Givens, agreed to do it w/o any charges because it was under warranty. However, I was forced to give a deposit on my Visa before they would even come out to perform the work. The deposit of $235 was supposed to be refunded per the tech and noted on the invoice. The total job was to cost approx. $1500, if not under warranty. To date, Parrish will not return phone calls, e-mails, and basically blocked our phone number so no calls from our home or cell phone will go through to Parrish. Basically, they don't want to acknowledge the extensive damage caused by their defective workmanship in installing the pan last August, and it appears they want to keep the $235 deposit which we have under dispute w/Visa. Let me be clear, the technician, Brian, was professional, appeared to be very knowledgeable, and pleasant to work with. Also, Mr. Givens had always been professional in working with us, but since he is incapacitated and not available much of the time, it appears his wife is running the show, more or less, and making some very poor decisions, and knows nil about "customer service" or professionalism.
Description of Work: A/C on upper floor leaked thru ceiling, damaging drywall/ceiling and hardwood floors. The Trane unit was installed less than a year before by Parrish Services, total work costing more than $10,000 at that time. Called Parrish, they came out and they weren't certain what caused the leak, but would have to come out again w/a second person to lift the unit, examine the pan beneath the unit, etc.

As for price rating honestly, I don’t know, my gut is a “B”, but I don’t know that they are not unreasonable. I have a contract with them. The little piece that they gave me seems like a lot of money, but it was a holiday. Maybe that’s not so bad after all. They do what they’re supposed to do and they don’t try to up sell me with all of a bunch of junk. They tell me up, but they don’t try to do the up-sell stuff. They were working with me all day because I had it scheduled appointments and their schedule was already set of course, but they figured out a way to get together. They were early.
Description of Work: The air conditioning system wasn’t working well and it’s turning out it wasn’t working at all. They came out and did an assessment and replaced the condenser. That’s all they did.

They do a good job. I don’t have to call about stuff like this, they will usually find weak things before it happens. I’ve always known that they are very professional. They seem to be honest about what needs to be done. They don’t try to make a bigger deal out of it than it really is.

I hope we just had a bad tech and others have good experiences with the company. We had a tech come out to give us a second opinion when we needed a new pressure relief valve installed. He was nice and was prompt. But his estimate was over double another company. In addition, as soon as he saw the utility room, he said we needed a new hot water heater- which he was not even there to address. We questioned it and asked for an estimate without the HWH. No idea why he would have said that- the HWH is less than 7 years old and still under warrantee. The company we decided to go with thought it was ridiculous and classic for a place working on commission. The tech added that his price was good for 24 hours and then would go up- it was all way too sketch and is not anyone I would ever have work on my house.

When they replaced the HVAC system, they discovered that the vent pipes leading to the outside were not to code, so they had to remove and replace all the vent pipes. I had two workers and the president of the company, Mr. Parrish, in my garage until 2am finishing the job. It would up being a bit mess (holes in the garage ceiling) and more expensive than originally anticipated -- but they was not Parrish's fault. They had to do the work to get the system up to code. I did appreciate them making sure the job was done right. I still use them for my semi-annual HVAC check-up and maintenance.

The service did not go well. When I first spoke with Parrish Services about the plumbing issue, I told them that a camera had already been used to diagnose the problem (a collapsed lateral pipe about 7 feet from the house). When their plumber showed up, his assessment was that we needed to schedule a $500 appointment to use a camera to diagnose the problem. He stayed about two minutes and we were charged for the visit. I called Parrish Services to get a refund because the problem had NOT been diagnosed. They said that telling me that we needed a camera was a diagnosis. I beg to differ. They had originally offered me a risk-free visit, that if I used another contractor I would be refunded 110% of my cost. I submitted two risk-free requests to them; one for HVAC and one for plumbing. After countless attempts, 59 days have passed and I have yet to receive my refund. Needless to say, I would not consider using them in the future.

Find Another Contractor!! On Friday, I called and scheduled an appointment for Tuesday with a service window between the hours of 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM. When I scheduled my appointment, noted that the work would require the Technician to be in the attic of my 3-story townhouse. I was informed at this time that there would be a $106 fee just for the Technician to come to my home, before any work or estimate would be provided. On Tuesday, the day of my appointment, I received a phone call from the office at 1:00 PM to note that the Technician would call me directly when they were on their way to my home. At 2:15, I called the office to find out where the Technician was as he was now late for my appointment window. I was told that he had been injured on an earlier call and the appointment would need to be rescheduled. At 3:00 PM, I received a call from the Office to notify me that they would need to reschedule my appointment as it was too late in the day for their Technician to work in an attic space. There was no mention of the earlier reported injury and no one acknowledged that I stipulated that the work would occur in the attic when I made the original appointment. As I am not able to telecommute or work from home in any way, I lost an entire day waiting for a Technician who would not show and still have an unresolved repair. When asked if I would like to reschedule, I requested that the appointment be scheduled for Saturday, on my day off from work. I was denied. I then asked for a 7:00 AM appointment; I was offered the next available 7:00 AM appointment which was 7-days away. I received no apology, no accommodation in any form to expedite my appointment which was lost due to Parrish's inability to properly schedule their crew or due to a safety incident, depending on which story one was to believe. I was simply offered a reprieve on their absurd fee to have someone arrive at my home, which surely would be absorbed in their overpriced fees for the subsequent repair work. The individual with whom I spoke today has zero concept of what it feels like to wait for hours in a hot house, expecting a Technician to maintain their commitment to appear, while wasting precious vacation hours to sit and wait. She was rude, at best. At the end of the day, Parrish has forgotten that they advertise Service which they clearly cannot deliver.

They are terrible, it was such a rip off! The guy charged me $600 just to tell me what was wrong and then, he wouldn't fix it. He wanted me to pay $2400 to fix it and I had it fixed for $140. The price was extraordinary excessive. I had someone fix it for 20% of what they charged me just to tell me what the problem was. For responsiveness, they were right out. They were out within a day.
