Parrish performs all of my HVAC services. I like them so much thatI bought a service contract with them. The techs are always friendly andknowledgeable, prompt, and clean. They even wear booties when they comeinto the house. I'm skeptical and pretty hard to impress but they'vecertainly done it!

I am VERY surprised at any of the "F" ratings. I have used Parrish services for over 10 years in two homes and have always had a great experience from the office staff responsiveness and customer service to the expertise of the professionals who come to my home. I use Parrish for my plumbing, electrical, and HVAC maintenance. They do quality work and make no pressure suggestions given their expertise in their area. The particular work I had done this time was done with quality and care. The electrician took his time and even talked to me about other future electrical work on my home should I decide to do more re-modeling. I find that Parrish employs professional specialists in their area of expertise to include the individuals I contact to coordinate service.
Description of Work: Installation of an outlet inside my cabinets so I could put in under the cabinet lighting without a lot of cords showing. Also, fixed a light switch that had burned out. Also, made some recommendations regarding some other electrical work I needed.

Two new HVAC systems installed. Attic insulation installed. It went very well. A couple of minor issues were addressed immediately.
Description of Work: Parrish is more expensive than some, but quality isn't cheap. We have service contracts (heat/AC, electrical, plumbing), so they respond quickly and we get a discount. The Spring and Fall check-ups are free.

Overall it was more spending. Then my neighbor told me there was no cleaning to do. All I had to do is change the filter monthly. But Parrish never suggested anything like that. I was an un-educated client when it comes to this thing and they took advantage. My husband was traveling a lot at that time so they decided they were going to simply take advantage of a poor woman. And trust me they did with no mercy.
Description of Work: I have used them over a long period of time until I realized they were all about money and did not care if the services was provided or not. It is a dream come true to be able to write a review on them. First service: They were contracted through my home insurance to fix my AC. It was not working. They told me I need to change the all unit. Since it was extremely hot and I have young kids I decided to drop my insurance and go with them to change the unit. Second service cost about $5000. New AC. It was good. I even pay extra for them to come check my AC and heat every 6 months. This service never happened. Each time I call them, I have to pay. Third service one year after, AC was not working. I call them again. May have spend another $500. They said I don't have AC warranty so it is not free repair. It was the vent. Explanation was not clear. Fourth service was for some cleaning so that the AC can work. Another $250 Fifth service was again something else. More spending. Then I had enough of them. They call me sometimes to want to do "free check up" but I don't trust them.

I have a service plan with Parrish. They came the next day, and solved the problem in one visit. Since I have been using Parrish they have sent the same technician to my property each time, which is surprisingly helpful. They showed me the faulty parts, and consulted me regarding price prior to replacing.

First things first. I had a Muchin Contender boiler installed in my house when we purchased it. The system gave us problems from day one. I spent $500 alone in service fees for other companies to come out and look at the unit, only to be told that they can't fix it. Once Parrish got involved they stayed with it until the end. These guys are awesome. It took almost 2 months to fix everything, that was because the builder installed the previous boiler incorrectly, and Parrish had to go behind them and fix the mistakes. They made sure they got it right. I love these guys.

At 4:30 PM on September 12, the technician (Nathan) called me after his visit to the condo to discuss replacement heat pumps. He mentioned that as soon as he could park his van, he would email me all the particulars of a new heat pump costing $5,872. He never sent the proposal and never spoke to me again. Between that time and the following Monday (September 17), I was told by various people at the Parrish office that he was out sick. Between those dates (September 12 and 17) I had numerous telephone conversations with service staff (Chris, Judy and Amanda) and failed attempts to contact both the Office Director (Mike Beachy) and CEO (Allen Givens). In all instances it was infuriatingly difficult to contact anyone either directly or through telephone staff. On September 14, I spoke to two sales representatives (Rachel and John Alexi) and the latter was to email me a proposal over the weekend. That never happened and I remain in the dark about their egregious behavior. I do not have the plague, but this is the way they have treated me. If there is a particular reason why they lost interest in selling me a new unit after having quoted its cost to me twice (once by way of the technician and once by way of the sales representative (John), it is something that annoyed me at first, but that I no longer care to know.
Description of Work: With a failed water source heat pump in our Arlington, they were dispatched by American Home Shield (AHS) home warranty service to diagnose problem. Based on conversations I had with the technician by telephone (my daughter lives at these premises and I live 150 miles away), I agreed that it would be best to change the heat pump after its 11 years of service. The technician left the premises and problems began. In the interim, AHS has waived my $55 charge based on this firm's poor performance.

We had an emergency in which our pipe burst and flooded our room downstairs on a weekend. They were quick to respond on a weekend recognizing our emergency aituation. The plumber was very polite and we felt did a great job fixing our issue promptly and helping us remove a water softner (cause of the leak) and dispose of it for us. We have used Parrish in the past both with and without a home warrenty.

In addition to my above comments, Parrish took the time to explain the geothermal process, costs and benefits. We plugged in real numbers from our utility bills to estimate costs and ROI. After the work was done, the techs came out multiple times to check on the system operations, ask whether we had any questions and even identified areas they felt the system should run better when we had no problem. The owner of this company is hands on and concerned about the quality of workmanship. He had them redo work that he thought should have been done better.
Description of Work: We have used Parrish for years, so this is not a review for a particular service visit. Our first experiences with Parrish came when we had a home warranty. The warranty company would call Parrish when another contractor could not fix the problem. This occurred so frequently that we began requesting Parrish for the first visit. We eventually purchased one of Parrish's routine maintenance plans and have a tech out at least twice a year to check the system. We in addition to a number of electrical and plumbing jobs, we turned to Parrish to install a geothermal heating and cooling system two years ago to replace our aging gas furnace and air conditioning unit. Parrish did a great job with this work and has saved us loads of money through a more efficient system. More importantly, Parrish has been there to answer any and all questions or problems we have had. We have not had many problems, but systems break and problems are inevitable. It's important to me to use a reliable contractor like Parrish that I know I can trust for honest and quality work.

Our sump pump quit working last Sunday - one of our few hard, rainy days. We called a couple of companies; some called us back and some did not. Some were VERY high priced (taking advantage of it being a Sunday!) but Parrish not only gave us a fair estimate but was extremely professional, courteous, timely AND fair priced. Being a member of Angie's List, we got a discount on the fee. The technician fixed the problem in a short amount of time. We are very pleased and will definitely use them again!

We're sorry to hear this homewoner had a poor experience with our service. We see two calls, one for plumbing in 2009 and one for HVAC in 2010. We can see both calls were scheduled 3-5 pm arrival, and one we arrived at 5:15 and the other at 4:05. Both problems were diagnosed quickly. We successfully repaired the plumbing problem, and recommendations for the HVAC problem were declined. We don't have any system notes indicating there was a problem, so if the homeowner would like to share details with us, we'd be happy to try and address any concerns.

Parrish was engaged by the homeowner’s home warranty company to provide service in this home. The complaint received was the upstairs faucet was making noise and shaking the pipes. Parrish quickly dispatched a plumber. He was scheduled to arrive between 12 and 4, he arrived at 1:53 p.m. and he quickly identified the problem. Unfortunately, that problem was not covered by the homeowner’s home warranty. While Parrish was still on site, the homeowner asked our plumber to look at a clog, as well. Even though we were not dispatched for this purpose (i.e., we were not being paid for this work), the plumber agreed. What the plumber found was a “soft clog,” meaning a clog consisting of things like grease, soap, etc. The plumber’s snake was in perfect working order, but a snake cannot fix a soft clog. The snake will poke through the clog, but then the material will just collapse again. The homeowner required a residential jetting service. We were not dispatched to perform this work, so we did not have appropriate tools. We completed our call at 3:32 p.m. after being on site for almost 1.5 hours and working on a problem for free. Because Parrish was not authorized to perform this work, it was the responsibility of the homeowner to either: a) call his home warranty company for new claim; or b) engage a residential jetting service on his own. We apologize if our plumber did not effectively communicate this to the homeowner. However, Parrish did perform all contracted work in a timely, thorough, and professional manner. In fact, our plumber went far beyond his scope of work, and with the exception of not communicating the homeowner’s responsibilities, the F’s in this case are simply not warranted.

They do a whole range of services like electrical and plumbing and they’re licensed. I have a home warranty and they are one of the contractors. One thing I like about them is that they collect food for the hungry. When they come, they ask nicely if you want to donate. They have been nice and helpful and I have had absolutely no problems with anything they’ve done; they have never had to come back twice. The one time I got a different provider’s number from the home warranty company they didn’t call back so I requested this company. They call me right away and they follow-up if they don’t reach me. They’ve been great. It’s hard to answer about the price because I do have a home warranty. I did get an estimate for hanging ceiling fans and it was a lot; however, it wasn’t more than anyone else.

We've had the service agreement with Parrish since we were referred to them by our home warrenty. They put in a new HVAC unit 3 years ago and have done our maintenance. We still have an annual service contract with them, and I believe our unit is still under warranty, so we'll continue using them for now.I've got two things to report - once recent, one from a year ago: 1) Early June our AC went out. Parrish was very responsive and sent someone out within a couple days to check it out. The unit had frozen and the blower was filled with water. The serviceman sent was very friendly, cleaned everything out and recommended installing a wet switch and surge protector, which was done a week later. After restarting the unit, the noise was very loud when running and made a metallic grinding sound when cycling down. We told the tech this when he came to install the wet switch & surge protector, but he told us there was nothing wrong. Well.... the unit went out again about a week later. Parrish sent another tech - and this guy was fabulous! He found the problem the newer tech didn't - that something in the coils was dirty and cleaned everything up. Unfortunately our motor had been ruined by this. As it was late Saturday afternoon when he finished, he said he'd put in an order first thing Monday to get a new motor. And the responsiveness was horrible - we heard nothing from Parrish about when to expect the part to come in. I called twice during the week to find out what was going on. Once the part came in on Thursday, they did send someone out right away to install it. However, the tech only installed the new motor. He didn't replace the metal tape or white clay stuff that seals the unit. I came downstairs and most of the air was blowing out of the side of the unit. Not happy at all about that .2) We have some flexible ductwork in our basement that needs to be replaced b/c it's non functioning. We had someone from Parrish out last summer to give us an estimate to get it fixed. The man that came was very good - he measured all the ducts for the whole system, figured out what needed to be done, and we were very happy with him. He told us we'd need to rip out the drywall and marked where it was needed for them to do the work, which was supposed to be about a day. He told us he wanted to come back before ordering the ducts to measure the size of the ductwork in the far wall of the house, behind the wall. I asked him for an estimate that day, and he said he'd get back to me. And never did. I called Parrish three times over three months asking for an estimate. Each time I told them I needed at least a ballpark number for the work - are we looking at $500? $1000? $5000???? And no one EVER called me back. Ever. So, we've now got the drywall down and I'm searching for a responsive company to do the work for me.
Description of Work: 1)Diagnose and repair HVAC unit which had stopped working & frozen over -- around $500, which including renewing the service agreement for the calendar year. 2) Service tech recommended wet switch and surge protector to protect motor. -- about $300 3) A week later, called back because the unit went out again- diagnose and repair. The motor died but was covered under the warrenty. We paid around $200 for installation of the new motor.

I had Parish out in November 2011 to service two gas fireplaces that we had not used for two years. I explained I wanted a complete checkup and servicing to make sure everything was in working order when they were done. They performed the work and charged $833, which I thought was high. The serviceman showed me the pre-set prices and said, "You won't need anything to be done for the next five years." In Jannuary 2012 the blower on one of the fireplaces stopped working. I called and asked for someone to check this out. I assumed this would be part of the original package as it had been barely two months (not five years) and I already had something wrong. The serviceman found that some wires had burnt out causing the blower not to go on. He fixed the problem but I was very surprised and objected when he handed me a bill for $149. I called the main office and asked to speak to a supervisor and was told none was available but that someone would call me back ASAP. I foolishly paid the serviceman so as not to hold him up thinking this would be resolved when I spoke with a manager. No-one every called back. A week or so later I received a "customer staisfaction" call from someone on behalf of Parrish. I went through whole situation and she said someone from Parrish would get back to me shortly. Six months later I am still waiting to hear from someone from Parrish. I did not fail the company overall as the work appears to be okay (so far anyway) . However, the company's profesionalism and customer care/satisfaction is another matter. By blowing me off and not even discussing my complaint they undermined any good will generated by the quality of their work. Of course, I now question the work quality because they missed the burnt out wires on the first call. Time will tell. Update: This company made good on my complaint. They ended up refunding the charge for the second visit.
Description of Work: Service to two gas fireplaces that weren't working. Asked for a complete servicing as we had not used the fireplaces in a few years. A second service call was necessary to repair someething I believe should have been corrected the first time.

We had a puddle develop around the floor of our HVAC. We had just had a different company perform a maintenance service on it three weeks earlier with a "clean bill of health" - though the technician didn't clean out the condensate line. And I could see water dripping out of it. Our home warranty company referred this trouble call to Parrish Services, which is why the fee was only $50. Kevin came out within the 8-12 window (though near the end), and found the condensate line was okay - the clog was at the top where it exits from the unit. He vacuumed up some gunk and cut some PVC pipe to make a condensate line with less turns. He sealed it up and the water discharge began flowing much more strongly. I gave a B to the Quality grade because we still have the smalled little water leakage at the top - nothing a well-placed (and occasionally checked) rag can't deal with.

This is the second time we've used Parrish, through our home warranty company. The first time they replaced an outlet that had burned out the fuse for part of our second floor. This time they replaced some parts of our powder room toilet after we realized it was leaking. Both young men were very knowledgeable, quick, professional, explained clearly what they had done, and within their service window. I would definitely use Parrish again for home warranty issues and for things that fall outside my warranty.
Description of Work: replaced some parts in a toilet after we discovered it was leaking; waited to be sure that the leak was gone

The guy was really good. He was on time and very nice. He also explained what he was going to do for her, which was nice.
Description of Work: I own the apt my sister lives in, and we contacted Parrish Services for plumbing work. She had a faucet she needed installed.
