The first experience with the KKC was with Kirby assessing our roof a day or two after a storm passed in August last year (AUG12) -- there were 3 or 4 shingles blown off (and found in the yard and gulley after the storm's passing). This was the second problem in this one area of roof to a 4 year old house and roof -- the first being fixed by the builder near the end of the one year warranty. Kirby explained to me after assessing the blown-off shingles and where the shingle came from, that they were installed with too much nailgun pressure as the nails being driven almost through the shingle. He returned the next day with a new pack of shingles matching what was installed and accomplished the patch in the area of the blown-off shingles. He was not too encouraging about the roofing as done by the builder or with the quality of the shingles. The roof was now done with the new patch....or so I thought. Hurricane Sandy created a new problem in this problem area of roof. Around midnight (on the night of the 29OCT12), there was a little water dripping from a ceiling vent in the upstairs hallway - this was about the peak of the rain and wind. By 4:00 am, I awoke to a lot of dripping. Dripping from foyer's ceiling in a now visible drywall joint was lots of water, water that got soaked-up with a bunch of beach towels laid down on the wood stairs and wood floor on the first floor. Not much to do other than ride-out the remainder of the storm as it was passing. The dripping slowed-down and stopped for the next several hours. We had also lost power around 6 the previous evening, but firing-up the generator around 6 that morning helped until power being restored about noon. KKC was called around noon. It was still raining, but the worst was over for Sandy with us. KKC's Matt was at the house around 4 that afternoon accomplishing a repair/patch while it was raining lightly. He was able to assess where the water was coming in through the roof, into the attic area, and to the drywall ceiling. Back on the roof, he found that the shingles had not been installed correctly in that area's valley (that the shingles were cut at the valley where they should have started at the valley) - water being driven up the valley due to the wind, under shingles, finding its way to leak into the attic and to the drywall ceiling. He also noted as Kirby had beofre (in AUG) that the shingles that had blown off had little "holding power" since they were nailed at too high of a pressure (where the nail almost being driven clean through the shingle). He did a patch with some shingles that I had from the pack that Kirby had brought earlier in August. After months of hassles with the insurance company, and then with the builder, I gave up -- I needed to resolve this problem by getting the roof's problem area replaced. The deposit and signed proposal were sent in. The work was scheduled for the Friday, 05APR13. As scheduled, Kirby and the KKC crew were great in completely replacing this problem area of the roof using good materials installing them to ensure that I do not have another problem in this area of roof including the valley. They also recaulked all of the windows inset into the brick veneer along with resealing the flashing above the garage roof. I am quite pleased with the communication and professionalism shown by KKC -- Kirby, Amanda, and Matt last year as well as with the installation crew on Friday, 05APR13. I am relieved about not having to worry about the roof, front windows, or garage flashing anymore. Now, to get the damaged interior drywall taken care of in the house and garage.

Although this wasn't a huge job, it did require at least 6 hours of labor atop very high, steep roofs, and considerable ingenuity/detective work to determine what was actually causing the problem and to then bring the job to a satisfactory conclusion. Work included replacing flashing, caulking and some new (matching) shingles. Would use them again (hopefully not necessary any time soon, though!).

They did a good job. They had to come back for a few things, but they took care of it.

I called them, explained the problem, leaks around the bathroom venting through the roof, and what I thought needed to be done. They gave me an estimate, showed up on time the next day and corrected the problem in 30 - 45 minutes. I'd definitely call them again if I have other roofing issues.

Although I did not end up using them, I was very positively impressed with my contacts with the Kirby Kerns staff. They were very responsive, friendly, and seemed very knowledgeable and forthcoming. I was sorry not to be working with them.

I lost vinyl siding on one side of my home due to wind/storm damage. It was a large storm, and it was tough to get contractors to come out to give estimates because there was so much damage. Luckily, I only lost siding on about 1/4th of the side of my house, so it wasn't an emergency. Thanks to Angie's List, Kirby Kerns replied to my request very quickly. Hey came out the next day to provide an estimate and pick up a sample of my siding. I chose to have the siding on the entire side of my house replaced so that the repair would be less obvious. The original siding on my house was no longer available. It took a few days, but they were able to find siding that was a very good match. They delivered the material the following Friday, and showed up right at 8:00 AM Saturday morning to do the work. The siding installation was performed in a professional and quality manner. There was no major damage to the shrubbery growing along side the house. Debris was cleared upon completion of the job, and the installation crew was finished and left by 12:00 noon. I received an invoice via email about two weeks later which I paid to complete the transaction. Verbal communication was clear and easy to understand throughout the entire process, including with the installation crew. I absolutely recommend Kirby Kerns for vinyl siding repair work.

They were extremely friendly and courteous and they left me with a very good impression. The only reason I didn't hire them is because another company had a lower bid.

Estimator and workers both came propmtly and work scheduled soon after acceptance. Worked quickly and cleaned up well. Price and quality good. Would use again.

I collected several quotes and I will admit he was not the cheapest quote I found however after having him come out it is clear he was very knowledgeable, knew his trade and was committed to getting things done exactly to specifications. (you get what you pay for so to speak) It was well worth it. It was a very painless experience; he came out a couple times to make sure his crew new exactly what needed to be done ahead of time and what I was expecting to get done. The work was excellent, well planned and executed and I am definiteliy planning to use him again next time I need someone with his expertise.

My husband was extremely pleased with the result. They did good work, finished it properly and did what we asked. So far, everything seems to working fine on the roof replacement. He was very nice, and the workmen were good in doing their work and their cleanup. They got it done expeditiously. So far so good, we are pleased. My husband indicated his happiness with the job. I felt they were courteous, and did what they have been contracted to do. They supplied the same material that we had requested them. We negotiated and agreed on the price. I felt they did good work. We would use them again in the future.

Kirby seemed the most knowledgeable and attentive of the four contractors who gave me estimates. He and his crew were responsive and effective. I would use his company again and refer others to him.

We had nothing but an excellent experience from the estimate to the installation. I would highly recommend this contractor.

It was cheap. He said the insurance company gave too much money so he did extra work. They were quick; they were out here within a week. It was a great deal. They were on time every day. I would use them again.

Called Kirby Kerns and said I needed the gutters cleaned on a townhome I manage in Bealeton. Did they go that far? Yes they do! They set up an appointment for the next week. The manager called and said someone had canceled in that area and they can do it today! Go for it! Once there they called and said gutters were clean now but... there was about 12-15 shingles on the back side that had blown off. That charge would be 225 and they could do it next week. Got the go ahead from the owner. They are set to do that repair next week. Will amend report after that is done.

When he did the estimate he actually got up in the crawl space. No one else offered to do that. He was very timely in doing the work and I was very pleased.

Kirby Kerns came out and provided an estimate for the damaged areas on October 3rd. Work was startred on October 8th and comleted on October 10th, only a week from initial estimate to completion. The crews were very professional and worked hard to complete the job in only two days. The company also provided an estimate on installation of gutter shielding which I will execute when the current gutter cleaning contract expires. I highly recommend Kirby Kerns for any roof and gutter work.

The owner has integrity and is hands on and oversees his work crews well. I think they did quality work.

They were excellent. They were quick and they charged nothing more than they said they would. They did a great job. They were very prompt and very courteous.

I received a prompt fair estimate and work was performed within the agreed upon time frame. Kirby's employees arrived when he said they would or if there was a reason for a delay he called to explain the delay. His workers are very professional and courteous. They demonstrated a strong work ethic and made sure the tasks were completed in a timely manner. I was very impressed with their attention to detail when finishing the installations. Kirby stopped by to inspect the work that had been done and to ensure the quality of the work. Overall a very positive experience.

It started out ok, but after the contracts were signed and a deposit was made, things slowed way down. I had to continue to call to get progress updates. They had to make too many visits to the house as a result of poor planning and lack of inspections by supervisors before leaving the site to ensure work was done to specifications. The sub contractor for the attic insulation did not install the correct amount and had to come back. Worst part was when I tried to comprehend the work that was done, I felt that my desire for understanding was met with great resistance. Its seems they forgot who the customer was and that we are not all experts. Thats why we hire them! I do think the work even after taking too much time was done well and the products they used were good quality and value.

We submitted it to our insurance. It was quite a lot because there was a lot of damage. It was positive. We had a very good experience. They were very professional and we were very happy with it. From our experience, we would recommend them.

A tree fell down in our backyard and tore down the gutter. They came out and removed the old gutter and replaced it with a new one. They did a great job at a reasonable price. We use them whenever we need any work done with gutters, roofing and so forth.

These people do great work! I had a leaking roof that the original roofer couldn't fix and Kirby Kerns fixed it. They initially patched the roof and when that didn't work, they took the first roofers work apart and reinstalled it. We love our windows which they installed several years ago so we didn't hesitate to call them back for other work.
