Out of the three companies I called, Dave was the only one able to give me an appointment the soonest. He called to say he would be fifiteen minutes late, which I appreciated. When he arrived, I watched him spread a tarp in front of the fireplace, but he set down his bucket and other supplies on the carpet. I didn't think anything of it at the time. As he dismantled the fireplace, he said he can't get it to work and may have to try replacing the bottom assembly and the heating elements at a possible cost of $400. As he continued to work he was able to get the fireplace to function properly with only a thorough deep cleaning and without any new parts. Unfortunately, when he was done and lifted his bucket there were black marks on the carpet. I had some carpet cleaner and offered it to him to use. He tried to remove the black marks, but was unsuccessful. He wanted to try again, but with something else, so he went over to the store and bought another type of carpet cleaner. He managed to lift out about 80% of the black marks, but not all of them. I was willing to let it go if he would pay for a professional carpet cleaner. He felt very bad about what happened and said this has never happened before. He did not charge me for his services, which would have been $200, and said that money would be be.tter served by hiring someone to clean the carpet.

Dave was wonderful and upfront about cost and troubleshooting fireplace malfunction. He expressed confidence in getting repair completed in one visit, he was on time, removed his shoes, covered the work area with protective cloth and completed cleaning of a very dusty dirty fireplace with no mess. A new part was needed which he had available. Repair was done quickly and fireplace is better than it has ever been.

Dave determined that the gas valve, gas supply, pilot, and remote starter were all functioning correctly. He kept looking for the problem and discovered that the original builder had installed the direct vent system incorrectly. If fact, the whole thing was jerry-rigged with fabricated improper venting pieces which were failing badly after 13 years. The fireplace had been erratic for the past four years. We were fortunate to avoid a fire in a system that should never have been accepted. (the external vent was installed too close to the overhead soffit and was obviously revised to meet the 12 inch clearance requirement, but the final inspection failed to catch the defective workmanship.) Dave was able to locate the proper parts and get the fireplace operating correctly. We had a bad experience\ with the fireplace repair firm that the local Majestic fireplace dealer said was the authorized factory repair firm. That firm did a full range of HVAC services and did a slow, expensive, and as it turned out inadequate job of repairing our gas fireplace. Flamemaster just does fireplaces and Dave Boyers clearly excels at his craft. Would never go to anyone else again.

Dave Boyers was great. I left a phone message and he got back to me in less than two hours. Was able to fit me into his schedule in a very reasonable amount of time. Appointment was late in the afternoon and he was running behind by 20 minutes. He called me to keep me up to date on the revised schedule (great). The fireplace that wasn't working was a difficult challenge. He got it running quickly but wasn't satisfied with the performance of the pilot. I bet he took the unit completely apart at least five times trying to improve performance. It would have been easy for him to just replace the thermocouple and thermopile but he took the time to get everything synced so that the new parts would not be required. Made a late night but is much appreciated. Would recommend Dave to anyone although I know he is very busy. I'd wait for a spot on his schedule.

Went very smoothly. Contacted Dave via email, and he gave me a date within a week that he could come do the work. I was very pleased that he could get out so soon.. many of the other contractors that I called were booked for several weeks out. Dave arrived on time, and was flexible with servicing two separate houses, and gave me a reasonable price for the job done (including parts, which he had on hand). Was quick and gave me some good info on the fireplace -- apparently, he was one of the original guys who helped to install the fireplaces on our block. Good job. Will call him again.

Very good service. The owner/technician seems knowledgable and freindly. He showed up on time and worked quickly and explained each step to me so I knew exactly what he was going. He cleaned the fireplace pilot elements and did a quick clean up on the glass (but did not clean the brick or logs).

Dave came out to our house to get our new Superior Gas fireplace working correctly. The builder installed it but the flame did not rise high enough or stay up. After about 5 minutes it would go down and be practically hidden from view under the logs. Dave installed a missing piece the builder had forgotten, changed the wool arrangement and fixed the glass enclosure which was not secured correctly. It was immediately fixed! Dave really knows gas fireplaces and I would recommend him with no exceptions to anyone who has gas fireplace issues. He arrived early and was here about a half an hour. Our gas fireplace is now working like a charm and we are enjoying it VERY much. Thank you Dave!

I was disasppointed that Angie's list did not have any repair services for gas fireplaces. I searched on the internet and found Flamemasters. The owner was responsive, made an immediate appointment for a Saturday, which I appreciated. Dave's ability to diagnose the problems on both fire places surpassed any service I have ever used. One of the two fire places I had repaired has not truly worked properly since our home was built 15 years ago. After diagnosing the broken element in the first fireplace, he rearranged the logs and said they had not been set for maximum efficiency. He then tackled the more difficult one, reparied it and remained in my home for 30 minutes after the work was completed to be sure it worked properly after extensive heating. He was so sure of his work that he said if the one that has given me trouble for so long had any additional problems, he would refund half of my money. He was very careful to protect the floor, carpet and rugs in the repair area. The reason I rated the price as a B is because the initial service charge was $175.00, which I think is a bit high, however the final cost of $600 seems fair, given the elements that were replaced and the amount of time he was in my home.
