F.H. Furr Plumbing Heating AC & Electrical

We asked F.H. Furr for a quote to replace our heat pump. The salesman went over our options and asked if we were ready to make a decision. I told him we weren’t ready and would need at least a day to talk it over. He then threw in a free whole house air filter and told us that he couldn’t guarantee any of his prices after he had left. Feeling pressured we caved and agreed to a system way over our budget. The next business day I called FH Furr back and explained we felt pressured to make a decision and did not want a system that far above our budget. Michael, the account manager, promptly called us back and offered to send us another representative, Eric W, to help us find a better configuration and price for our family. Of the four salesman I met with to get quotes, Eric was the most helpful and caught something that none of the other salesmen found. Eric identified that the air handler, which all the others had recommended to us, is not recommended for installation by American Standard where our current air handler sits due to space constraints. He was very patient and knowledgeable and helped us find a system much closer to our budget. Afterwards, Michael called to check on us and made sure we were completely satisfied with our service. I’m very grateful for his help guiding us through this process and will definitely be considering FH Furr in the future. Their customer service is truly the best and, while they were the most expensive quote, I believe you get what you pay for from them.

I've used F H Furr in the past and as always they provide great service, are very prompt and provide some insight into the equipment without trying to sell something. I will use them again and again.

I would never recommend FH Furr. Their service people are more concerned with recommending expensive services than they are with the work they are to do at the time. Both times they have been to my home, I received expensive estimates for work that may/may not have been necessary.

The response to my request for service was very prompt. The technician was on time. He explained my options to me. The installation went very well. I was very pleased with the result. I thought the cost of the service was on the expensive side, but I haven't priced it with other plumbers.

Professionally installed, as promised. Neat work, inspected by the County and passed. Good followup. I am happy with the heating and air conditioning unit from Lennox that was installed.

Generally not professional. Plumbers obviously work on commission. Didn't do a good job. Didn't have a camera with him. Said somebody else would have to come in 3-4 days with camera for another $500. We needed somebody to unclog the line and diagnose / fix problem quickly. They made the problem worse -- the power snake disintegrated what was left of the old sewer line. Charged $750 for running the snake 15 ft. They left without suggesting a repair or giving an estimate and way overcharged, They were only there an hour or so. Another plumber was hired to camera / diagnose / repair the line. Do not use these people.

Ordered through Costco and all aspects went smoothly from initial sales pitch to final installation. Communication was made via phone, email and text. Technicians showed up when scheduled, were courteous, punctual and efficient.

Great! Called for service and he was there about an hour later! He replaced the angle valve AND also drained our water heater. Will definitely use them again.

The plumber (Jimmy Bevans) was very knowledgeable. He explained many details about the water heater including water heater maintenance that the homeowner can do to prolong the life of the water heater. He knew about the quality of different water heater manufacturers. He also explained that the water heater expansion tank had to be replaced and an emergency drain pan needed to be installed with the new water. I had estimates from other plumbers but Jimmy was the only one to explain all the details to me. Jimmy had excellent customer service skills and I appreciated that he could translate his technical knowledge to common language that the homeowner could understand.

So far so good, Reggie first came out last week but wanted to loop in Scott to help us solve our problems. Reggie returned with Scott to give a better idea, both had creative suggestions to dealing with our house. Home is a standard DC row house on 3 levels, and trying to cool the 3rd floor is a challenge. They didn't pull any punches and told us that our HVAC is going to be a full revamp, current system was poorly designed and installed even worse.

The technician was thorough with his findings. He installed a filter I had in the house free of charge.

FH Furr subcontracted with another company without telling us beforehand that they did not do the work themselves. We have been pleased with FH Furr for HVAC and plumbing services, but they did not do the attic sealing work. The house was still cold. We finally paid for a home energy audit and found that the attic was not sealed in many places and poorly sealed in others. Unfortunately, we had FH Furr seal and insulate the attic nearly 4 years ago, so I have not been able to get satisfaction through our phone calls over the past month. Our salesman is very nice over the phone, but we have no solution. I have included an infrared photo example from our home energy audit showing that the attic was not sealed. I have an estimate from and energy company that it will cost me $10000 to take out the 4 year old insulation that FH Furr added, seal the job properly and add new insulation again.

F H Furr was the third (and last) quote for the replacement of our 5-ton AC. The salesman was very pleasant and arrived on a Saturday morning within the scheduled window. From the start I told him that we were obtaining multiple quotes, since this was a substantial investment, and that would be making our decision by Monday or Tuesday. When he mentioned his "ballpark", I told him that he was ~$2,000 over our first quote. Soon after we sat down to calculate the quote, he brought up buying today if he got me a good deal. Even though I appreciate a good deal as everyone else, this was odd since I had already told him that we were looking at all our options and would decide in 2-3 days. It felt as if I was buying a used car (no offense to car salesmen). But I reiterated our plan to decide in the next 2-3 days. When he entered the information, the estimate was $1,200 lower than his original ballpark, but still higher than our first quote. When he asked how it compared, I truthfully told him that he was still higher. He then asked how much was the quote and which company. His demeanor changed and asked if I was only considering cost and not the company's reputation. Personally, I took offense to the tone. I rather do business with a company that sells how good they are, not question another company's reputation. Just for the record, the "other" company has been in business for close to 90 years, and has a higher Angie's List rating than F H Furr, holding a Superior Service Award. So, had I been going by "reputation" alone, F H Furr would not had made my cut. At this point I told him that. after that exchange, I was no longer interested in doing business with F H Furr and that I didn't want to waste his or my time, and ended our meeting without obtaining a final quote. We have used F H Furr many years ago (plumbing) and had a good experience. So, I have no reason to question their expertise and professionalism. However, the sales process was much different than the one I had experienced with the previous two companies the day before. Based on that impression during the sales process, I would not have hired F H Furr for this project even if they had provided the best quote. (I guess that answered his question: no, apparently we don't base our decision on cost alone).

Arrived on time. Good service, courteous, and answered lots of questions.

Call F H Fuhr at 8.00 am and their plumber arrived at 10.30. He explained that the sump pump was past its lifespan and had come apart. It could be repaired but he suspected it would not last and with a hurricane possibly due I didn’t want to risk it. he gave two options for a new one, fully explained the pros and cons of both, and I selected the one that included a dual pump, with a battery back up. He went back to the depot and got one and by midday had installed it. Markus was great, he was knowledgeable, he explained everything, he was clean and tidy working. I would not hesitate in having Markus, and F.H.Fuhr in my home again to do work. This is my third successful engagement in the last three years.

It went great, the tech, Curtis was courteous, efficient and professional. He knew exactly what needed to be done and fixed the problem quickly. I would definitely recommend Curtis for all my plumbing needs. I also liked the method of getting an appointment set up. The service rep was efficient and very accommodating about the date and time. Unlike another company I was able to get the appointment set up with one call. They also gave a call and email that Curtis was on the way. A very professional company.

Working with the F.H. Furr Team was a really good experience. They were all knowledgeable, professional, on time, and walked me through each step. The installers Daniel and Seng were outstanding after the install they gave me a rundown and sent me all of my paperwork via email with serial numbers which makes it much easier. They only use the best manufactures and equipment. I would hire them again and also recommend them for HVAC work or installs.

Keith Knight was punctual, professional, knowledgeable, and extremely thorough in his estimate. He took pictures and found unexpected issues that needed to be addressed. Another company just gave things a quick look and missed the other issues (like no cut-off valve under the existing utility sink). While the other company's estimate was half the price, by the time we would have included the things he missed, it would have been close to F H Furr's estimate. Keith went into the job knowing all the potential problems and was prepared for them all, which saved time in the end. Their maintenance contract covers heating, A/C, electrical, and plumbing and is much less than my existing heating and A/C contract. They carry just about everything on their trucks, even hot water heaters. I will definitely be using them again and highly recommend you do too!

They checked my toilet telling me a needed a flange repair and recaulking. They made the repairs and did an excellent job. The representative came out as scheduled, got the work done very effectively, efficiently and cleaned up well. I will recommend them, have used them in the past and will continue to use them.
