F.H. Furr Plumbing Heating AC & Electrical

Technician and assistant were prompt, explained everything to us, took before and after pics, and spent over 3 1/2 hrs. here cleaning our fan in the furnace and the outdoor coil for our air conditioner.

I got a full replacement of my heating and air system — full HVAC, thermostat, humidifier — as well as my water heater. The techs (Alex Molina and another man whose name I don’t know) did a fantastic job. It was not easy given the location of the equipment, but they got it done well after 10 hours. They were courteous, respectful of my property, resourceful and through. I was also able to get affordable financing for the work, which was key. They also had an end-of-year promotion going when I contacted them, which earned me a good discount on the price. I definitely recommend FH Furr and their team. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

All aspects were poor to bad. They could not get the HVAC system they installed to work properly often leaving us with no heat for days last winter. They did not honor the maintenance agreement portion of our contract and also refused to replace a leaking valve on the water heater they installed. The individual technicians were all nice, but the company appears to be entirely unethical. They rescheduled several appointments for work, sometimes on short notice. I had to miss several extra days of work waiting for them to fix their HVAC system.

Excellent. The plumber (Mike B) as always: professional, tidy, explained everything that was needed, explained options and we will proceed when the new toilet arrives and take care of all other items. It's a pleasure to have Furr do the work. They may not be the cheapest but, sometimes, you do get what you pay for.

I am a former customer of F.H. Furr, because I found them not to be trustworthy. In addition to maintaining my Heating-Ventilation-Air Conditioning (HVAC) system, the service technicians from Furr repeatedly urged me to spend money on expensive goods and services that I found to be of questionable value. For example, F.H. Furr urged me to buy a thousand-dollar UV light unit for one of the two HVAC systems in our little townhouse, claiming that it would extend the life of our HVAC system and kill circulating microbes. I OK’d it. A year later, Furr urged me to buy another UV light unit ($1100) for our other HVAC system, pointing to the same ambiguous purported benefits. In addition, I would need to pay for periodic replacement of the light element in each UV light unit, making this a VERY expensive addition to our HVAC systems. Furr did not ask how many people reside in our home, or whether any of us have allergies or respiratory disease, or are immune-compromised (see [*** Link removed ***] Still, Furr’s service technician (salesman) urged me to buy a second UV light unit as part of a well-maintained HVAC system. I did not buy the second UV light unit. I conducted a detailed web search, and UV light units can be valuable in hospitals and other buildings with hundreds or thousands of people ([*** Link removed ***] Home UV light units are very different. Although numerous HVAC contractors are active online promoting UV light units for residential use, I did not find substantial evidence that home UV light units in HVAC systems provide meaningful benefits. I found no recommendation by a public health expert for home UV light units. I should note that I have decades of training and experience in a public health-related field. I wrote a letter to the owner of F.H. Furr, challenging them to provide substantial evidence of the benefits claimed for home UV light units. I also complained about their high-pressure sales tactics and urged them not to promote expensive goods and services of questionable benefit to their customers. I was contacted by a few people from F.H. Furr, but I did not find their evidence convincing that home UV light units provide substantial benefits as claimed by Furr. I told F.H. Furr that I have no problem with their installing a home UV light system if an “early-adopter” customer asks for one, but their high-pressure sales tactics are inappropriate for products like home UV light units with questionable benefits in the residential setting. Furr offered to buy back our UV light unit, but I responded, “This is not about my wringing money out of F.H. Furr, it’s about the trustworthiness of your future recommendations.” It became clear to me that Furr was not going to step away from their high-pressure sales tactics for goods and services of questionable value, so I fired them. In response to my complaint to the Better Business Bureau, F.H. Furr wrote, “We do not manufacture any of the HVAC products that we install and we only adopt products that are recognized and endorsed by ASHRAE and ACCA, two reputable associations in the HVAC industry. We did provide supporting documents to this customer disclosing more information about the testing and usage of the products. The UV lights that FH Furr installs are all UV-C rated. UV-C has been around for many years and has been adopted through the HVAC industry both nationally and globally.” I did not claim that F.H. Furr manufactures the products they recommend. I did not question the quality of the products that Furr sells. I did not question the value of UV light units in certain settings. I’m complaining that F.H. Furr vigorously promotes expensive goods and services such as UV light units in the home setting where their benefits are questionable. I note that Angi is a proponent for home UV light units in HVAC systems, but without pointing to specific evidence in support for claims of benefit. [*** Link removed ***] One way to resolve this issue would be for an independent consumer advocacy organization to arrange for two impartial experts, one public health/infectious disease expert and one HVAC expert, to review F.H. Furr's service technician training materials and F.H. Furr service technicians’ claims about home UV light units in HVAC systems. Those two experts would then conduct a review of the supporting evidence presented by Furr and their suppliers, and determine whether home UV light units have been shown to provide meaningful benefits in the residential setting in terms of protecting people from airborne infectious disease or by extending the life of an HVAC system. Further, those experts can determine whether any demonstrated benefits of home UV light units justify very substantial initial and ongoing expenditures by homeowners. Will F.H. Furr agree to stop their promotion of home UV light units to their residential customers if such a review finds them not to provide meaningful benefits in that setting?

Honest up front to let me know the first unit I chose would not fit after a couple of measuring visits. Showed up within scheduled time to install the new unit and did not leave until 8pm when all was finished and cleaned up and we had a tutorial on the new unit. Very professional from sales person to install. They sent a text with the picture of the person who would show up at my door.

Yea. Our heater started blowing cold air. I called FURR At 7pm and they send out a service man who arrived at 10pm as scheduled. They charged a $100 emergency service fee. The repair man carefully diagnosed the problem. A faulty pump and was able to make a temporary fix, He put in an order for a replacement pump. He clearly knew the workings of our heating system,

Excellent overall. Had to be rescheduled multiple times due to weather and availability, but overall service and professionalism was outstanding once service was performed.

Again I am pleased with the services provided by the team from F.H. Furr. Both the lead installer ( Derek Harvey) and the other installer, who's name I cannot remember unfortunately were amazing. To start the day they were prompt and got straight to work. The two of them worked very well together from my perspective and they both took pride in the work that they did. They did not mind me periodically hovering and asking questions about what they were doing at that moment. Each time I had a question for them the had a knowledgeable response for me. There was not one time that either of them said "I don't know.". My family and I could not have been happier with the attention to detail with the final product. We would recommend this duo for any job that they are able to do.

It went very smoothly. They worked quickly, kept us informed and explained what they were doing, and cleaned up a bad mess very kindly.

From my intial call to work completion, it was a smooth, responsive, and professional operation. Brendon (or Brandon? sorry) quickly set up an appointment at my convenience. I was kept appraised of the ETA of the service person, Marco, who arrived on time. Marco was polite, professional, and personable. He explained the work, and showed me all pertinent aspects of the job. He was also very COVID conscious and neat. I've recommended Furr to friends and neighbors.

Awful service! Purchased a “Preferred Plan” from them this month. Just experienced a plumbing emergency and was told the next day is the is the best they can do. That is “priority service”?!?!? Simply awful, clearly more interested in revenue than service! I will work hard over the coming days to locate every review site possible to share this. FH Furr is horrific and NO ONE should ever hire these scam artists!

The technician came twice and did not complete a diagnostic either time. They simply looked at the water heater and asked whether an error code ever came up on the unit. They still charged me for ~$150 for a diagnostic and did not even touch the machine.

Easy. Bernard and Christian were on time and had the job done in half an hour.

My big problem with them is that they refuse to give a quote over the phone or even discuss options virtually. They do not have a pandemic work around and this is just not acceptable right now. I wouldn't recommend their services at this time until they make some major changes. I've used FH Furr for a number of services. They are adequate at best and their prices tend to be a little on the high side. You can find better and someone willing to make accommodations with the pandemic.

The plumber was on-time. He explained the options for this repair. The repair was made quickly and cleanly. I will plan on hiring this company in the future.
