F.H. Furr Plumbing Heating AC & Electrical

The company's overall rating is based on it's last-minute decision not to supply needed equipment and for making me feel as though the funds I had paid for previous services and its service contracts didn't equal the need to meet my unique customer service needs. I had a service agreement with F.H. Furr for a number of years; as a part of that agreement, the company provided annual AC and heating checkups. A few days before the company's tech was to come and do the annual AC checkup, I received a call that it would not be providing the long ladder needed to access my rooftop unit. I was told that I had to provide the ladder. Since I live in condo, I don't store that type of equipment. Plus, the company had provided the ladder in the past. Why couldn't it do so this time, I asked. I was told simply that it was an inconvenience to put the ladder on the truck--apparently, only a few of its customers needed a "nonstandard" length ladder. Well, excuse me. I canceled the appointment and my service contract (the company was good about providing a prompt refund). I was able to make an appointment with DonMar Heating and Plumbing with no problem. And the company's tech happily brought the right size ladder. It clearly knows the importance of good customer service. I will be using it again. I won't use F.H. Furr--I've waved goodbye to that company.

Received estimate and work began as promised with trenching of the front yard and removal of interior dry wall in basement. Plumbers coordinated timing of shut-off of temporary water services to minimize household disruption. Temporary water supply was off for about an hour before permanent water supply was restored. All lines and valves were inspected and excavation was filled and tamped down next day. Company accepted credit card over the phone for final payment.

They found and took care of the noise. They were very easy to work with. They cleaned up any mess they made and I was very comfortable having them in my home. They were very thorough and fair with their prices.

The installation took longer then they said. They left the house a little dirty. The quality of the job was great and I have had no problems. I just think that they could have done a little better job.

The service was great. They showed up on time, and it was easy to make an appointment. They were also very professional. The worker that came out was excellent and very friendly. He told me how to clean the unit which saved me $400.

I have used this company before. They are pretty good. They price by the job, not the hours. You can usually get same day service. They are very professional and reliable. They call before they come and they will even wear little booties over their shoes so as not to track in things. They had to work underneath the kitchen sink, of course, so they had to remove some stuff. They replaced everything very neatly.

They came out and inspected our split air unit. They tell what they see and recommend what you should do. Recently we had them come and perform a air quality test. They also check our plumbing each time they check our Heating/AC unit.

I was doing some home remodeling and had my bathrooms down to the studs. I called them out there to re-do some piping. Very friendly and knew what he was doing.

I called at 8:00 am and the plumber was there by 9:00 am. He was curtious and professional. He gave me a quote for the above work before starting and also discussed their service agreement. Entering into the service agreement ended up saving me about $100 off of the work and the agreement was approximately $170 for the year. He cleaned up after himself. Answered all my questions and explained what he was doing while he was doing it. While I will shop around for quotes when it comes to fixing my shower to ensure this company is not way out of the price range of others, the service cannot be faulted.

Mike used a hammer to take out the dry wall to move the drain pipe. I was not happy about that. The company sent out someone to replace the piece of dry wall, but it took a certified letter to do it. They did not answer my emails or phone calls. The quality of the work done was good, but I was not happy that Mike did not tell me before hand that he doesn't use a dry wall saw. By the time I realized he was not going to cut out neat chunks, it was too late.

Overall satisfied, they actually had to come out and rework the layout from the original design.

I lost all water to the house on a Friday morning and they were able to respond the same day to get a person on site to write up an estimate. They started work the following Monday and completed the project by Tuesday evening.

When the technician arrived he said that he doesn't do the service checkups. He was only there to troubleshoot the noise and that another crew does the maintenance. He diagnosed the noise as being the heat exchange that was expanding and contracting and that this was normal and harmless. He took the front of the furnace cover off and looked around. I also explained that we are hearing a noise in the attic only when the furnace is running. He said there is nothing up there mechanical and did not go up stairs to check it out. We walked into the back yard so he could look at our roof and saw the vent where we are hearing the noise. I was rather disappointed that the person who scheduled the appointment did not understand what I was asking for and sent the wrong person for the job. I told this to the technician and he said there is really nothing to service on my furnace other than changing the filter (which we had just done last week).

Bad experience. We obtained an estimate before job of $287 to reconnect sink after the countertops were installed. When the plumber came to the house to disassemble the pipes he told us the first plumber who had given the estimate was wrong and the correct price was $527.00. My wife asked him to call a supervisor to see if they would honor the original estimate, which he did, but the plumber reported that his supervisor would not honor the original estimate nor would they even lower the price. We refused to have them do the work under those circumstances. I then had to hurry to find someone else to do the work before the countertops came. I can only assume someone at Furr would have reviewed the paperwork from the original estimate which was obtained 12 days ago to see if it was correct. If an error was noticed, Furr could have called to let us know that the estimate was incorrect rather then springing it on us on the day the job was to be done. Very disappointing.

I can t promise the best price with them but what I can say is they are very good. They know what they are doing and you wont have to worry about calling them a second time around because they always get the job done right the first time. The mechanics are very respectful and I like them a lot.

I have purchased the contract in the past. They provide high quality service and their response time is very quick. I have been extremely pleased with the service and the professionals that have done the work. I will continue to purchase the contract from this company.

I have purchased this agreement for several years now. They do a good job. One time they had made a mistake in the work they had done and corrected it right away. They will send you a post card when the service is due to be done. I would recommend them.

There was an emergency situation regarding the toilet in my house and I called FH Furr, as I also have a yearly contract for my heating and air conditioning. They responded quickly and the installation went perfectly. The problem I had was that the only choice they gave me was for a toilet was extremely over priced. I had to do it because I couldn't be without it. I had a previous problem with them, also concerning pricing as well as honesty. Last year, they sent their AC man out to do the inspection of my unit and was informed that I needed a new unit right away, at a cost of $8000. I scheduled the installation, then later that evening I realized that the house was way too chilly and found he had turned the temperature down to 60 degrees. The unit worked just fine and still is incidentally. I canceled the installation. I would be leery of this company.

FH Furr did an okay job. I think they overcharged me though. It took them a lot of time to finish the job. Another thing is that the air conditioner is still giving me some problems, so the quality of work was not that good either. I would not hire them again because of the lack of responsibility toward their work.

This is a very reputable company and I would have to say that they are trustworthy and knowledgeable. They performed professional work and everything went smoothly. I would highly recommend them to others in our area.

They sent out two serviceman and between the two of them the whole job took about 15 minutes to repair the faucet and the toilet. That is when I was slapped with the bill. I had no idea it was going to be that expensive. I don't think I will be using their services in the future.

I originally wanted their "97-minute express service", but don't buy that, it isn't real. They refused to give us expedited service, instead making an appointment for the following Monday (we called early in the day on a Friday). So I didn't care for the false advertising in their website. However, they did perform the work in a professional, timely manner, including cleaning up after themselves and giving useful information to us.

The FH Furr plumber arrived reeking of cigarette smoke. She didn't bother with shoe covers as most do nowadays. She said that the water heater needed to be replaced. She insisted that only the tank was still under warranty and not parts. I showed her the manual and she called her boss on her cell phone. She cursed, which I didn't appreciate, when the signal dropped, then walked outside to call him back. She then came back in and said it was only 2 years on parts and it had expired. I asked for an estimate to replace the tank and she quoted me $568, which included an $85 acquisition fee because they no longer carry A.O. Smith heaters. Is that my fault? She told me she'd have to call all over to find one, then go and get it, and come back the next day to install it. I pointed out that it had only cost $628 for the initial installation and it was ridiculous to charge nearly that much to replace it, particularly with a warranty. She said she just quoted from the book. I said forget it.

The work was very well done and we are happy with it, however it was much more expensive than it needed to be. The Furr plumber was here for less than 1 hour and charged $600 for the work. We provided the faucet set and the disposal so the only supplies that they provided were the supply line and some plumbers putty. The company does their pricing by the task instead of by the hour so we paid $75 for a 5 minute swap out of a flexible supply line. I would not use these folks again and probably would have sent the packing if the faucet had not been inoperable when they arrived.

The job went very well. He was very knowledgeable and courteous. I was able to schedule the appointment two days earlier and when he arrived to give us an estimate to replace the water heater we just decided to hire him on the spot. He did the work the same day.
