Very well. I was completely comfortable talking with him (Patrick Close) and i didn't feel pressured into anything. He thoroughly explained what he was recommending and how it would improve my air quality. He was professional and kind. Highly recommend not only this company but this technician as well.

On March 19 a salesman came to our house to give us a price on a new AC system as ours quit working. After a very lengthy explanation of the Lennox System, how it works, etc. the salesman checked out our system. He concluded that we needed both the AC and heating systems. The first price he gave us was over $20,000. We told him he had to do better. Hence the system for our size of house (bottom floor only) with a less quality for $15, 629.76. Very reluctantly we bought it. What we since realized was there was no need for a new heating system as ours was working just fine. Both units were 11+ years old and what we have since been told was heating systems last far longer than AC's. While we realize there is nothing we can do about it now, the thing that really makes us angry is we were never told we did not have to replace both. We assumed it had to be done this way when in fact it doesn't. We feel we were taken advantage of by not being told the truth about our systems. We called FH Furr and received no satisfactory answer as to why they use these tactics to sell their product. We signed up to speak with someone through Costco and you can be sure they will also be told about this. I'm sure this is not the way they do business. This has been a very expensive lesson learned.

Our garbage disposal died and we purchased one at Home Depot. My husband called F H Furr because we have a service contract with them. They didn't come out on the day we expected but did come the next day. They did call us to say they had an emergency so couldn't make it on the first day. He was upset though because he ended up taking the day off to be here when they came. Unfortunately, he had to leave before the plumber got here the next day so when the plumber gave me the quote, I wasn't familiar with the cost. The plumber then left and said he would be back in 15 min. After about a 1/2 hour, he came back and installed the garbage disposal. It took less than an hour. When my husband returned and found out how much it cost, he checked online for prices, thinking the quote was for the cost of the disposal plus the installation. According to what he found online, we were charged double what it should have cost. He called Furr and was told that was the cost for installation. We feel that it was an outrageous price to pay for less than an hour of work and will never use them again.
Description of Work: Installed new garbage disposal which I provided at my cost. And the price quoted was with our discount for having a service contract with them.

Our furnace was broken and making a loud racket. FH Furr came out promptly, technician told me I needed a new inducer motor, which would be $450 installed. But then he said it would be better for me to buy a whole new system, costing between $12,000 and $15,000. When I asked him if he received a higher commission for me buying a new system, he said yes. He went out to his truck and came back in with a new price of $950 for the new inducer motor, saying the motor I needed was more "unusual" than he first thought. After he left I went on Amazon and found the motor he was selling for $210, and the reviews say it takes 10 minutes to screw in. Not sure how I can recommend using a company who pays their guys more money to get people to buy things they might not necessarily need (new systems) - especially when the repair price is doubled in 5 minutes to make the new system appear more attractive. $950 to install a part that costs $210 to install in 10 minutes is dishonest and disgusting. We ended up putting in a similar brand new system (and a better warranty) from another company within the same price range ($13,100), but who I trusted much more and gave me a more honest opinion of what the needs for my home were.

We purchased our new AC units and furnaces through Costco and were assigned to F.H. Furr to have the work completed. WHat a blessing that turned out to be! They started by sending out their consultant, Kartik, to perform a complete home inspection to see what we already had and what work needed to be done. He is a licensed engineer and was very thorough walking us through our current system pointing out the deficiencies and the inadequacies of the system for a home this size. He went places in our home that our home inspector didn't (or wouldn't)! The inspection covered not just our heating and air which ended up being very helpful since we decided to add on a new hot water heater afterwards. Kartik was amazing to work with and was able to design the perfect system for OUR home rather than us having to choose a package. F.H. Furr even goes as far as pulling permits for the work to be completed and then asking you to bring in a county inspector to check the work they completed. Talk about peace of mind! We scheduled our install with the company and they sent out 3 teams to ensure our system was replaced and working in one day. All teams showed up on time and got to work in a timely manner. One team started on the heating and air unit outside, one started on the units inside, and the other began work on the hot water heater. We could not believe how hard all teams worked all day. Most of the men did not even stop working to take a lunch break! They were determined to get our units installed and working before they left. They laid down covers on the floors and stairs to cover their walking paths and even wore shoe coverings, which was an added perk in my opinion. The 5 team members were very friendly, nice, and respectful to our home and yard. Team members included Rashid, Jonnie, George, Nelson, and Osvin. If you are lucky enough to work with any of these team members, you will not be disappointed. They even made sure to clean up when they were done! We only found 1-2 pieces of trash which is unheard of for most work in your home. When they were finished with their work, they walked my husband and I through EVERYTHING. I cannot say enough positive things about working with this company. They are on the more expensive side BUT you get your money's worth in making sure your home is up to code and working with respectful team members. Also, if you purchase through Costco, you get Costco bucks back which is nice!
Description of Work: Provider replaced 2 furnaces, 2 AC units, and the hot water heater in my home and brought everything up to current codes that was needed (duct work, pipes, shut off valves, connections, etc.)

They advised me my furnace was failing and quoted me an very high price to replace the unit. I ultimately went with another company who did an excellent job at a fraction of the price. In a separate prior instance they charged me $1300 to replace two bathroom faucets, and complete a minor repair on a third faucet. I do not recommend others use F H Furr in the future.

FURR did not give a time of day for the service call. They told me the tech would be out on Friday and that he would call an hour before he would arrive. At 4 pm got a call that the tech was on his way. Tech arrived at 5:20 pm. I showed him the problem valve. He went his truck, gave me a quote and completed the job in 10 minutes, He also gave me other quotes and pointed out work that could be done. This was not an emergency call out nor was it an after hours call. It was a normal service call. Workmanship was good. Total cost $210. H F Furr does good work.

They saved my butt. My sump pump went out on me just before midnight and they had to come replace it. The guy that did it was just perfect. Everything was just clicking just right. It turned out so well that at that point within 4 days I bought a water heater from them. They were amazing.

It's cold out and my furnace would not turn on. I called F H Furr to request service. Because I have a maintenance account with them they sent someone right out. Juan Balbuena arrived and had my heat working in no time flat. Like all the techs, he's very professional and knowledgeable. F H Furr is a great company if you need service. They may be a little more expensive but I have been very happy with the service provided from the office staff and technicians who service my HVAC system.

I would strongly recommend against using FH Furr for your HVAC needs. This company installed two heat pumps at my house in 2009. I am now in the process of having to completely replace one of those units after just six years (and after $5K in repairs to that unit), and the causes are 90% related to poor installation and the sale of a substandard unit. So, again, I've got about $12,000 into a six-year-old unit that I'm now completely replacing after six years. We went with FH Furr because my wife was friends with the wife of a salesman for them, and we felt like they'd take good care of us. It didn't work out that way. The problems started right out of the gate. I requested Trane units for both upstairs and down. They did install a Trane downstairs, and I've had minimal problem with that unit other than some installation related problems I'll address later. For the upstairs, though, I was told by the salesman (who, again, I trusted) that there was no way to fit the Trane into my attic and that they'd instead use a comparable Lennox unit. I've since had three HVAC professionals (from different companies) tell me that the Lennox installed at my house is not at all comparable and a construction grade unit only, and that plays out with my experience. So I feel like someone at Furr flat out lied to me about it and then overcharged me for a lesser quality Lennox system. And I've had nothing but problems with the Lennox. First, it was installed so shabbily that the unit in my attic literally fell apart and for months there was a gaping hole in the duct-work where the unit separated from itself. That means my family and I were breathing in insulation and attic air for a month or two before we realized the unit had pulled apart. FH Furr came back and taped it up again and, it fell apart again within the month. At that point, I gave up on Furr and tried other reputable repairmen. I paid one of them $600 to use screws to pull it together again in a way that would hold. Then, when the two systems continued to require heavy maintenance, I learned that the FH Furr installers had placed the outdoor units too close together (not to code) and failed to lift them off of the ground (again, as required by code). That was another $600 to fix. Then last year, I had a freon leak in the attic (probably attributable to the poor installation) that resulted in major repairs totaling over $4000, again on the Lennox. This year, the problems reoccurred, and we've determined to replace the entire unit. So, as indicated above, I have put at least another $5K into repairs on top of the original $7K price tag -- so upwards of $12K altogether for a six year old system that I am now completely replacing. FH Furr is either a really crappy organization, or it's lost control of its subcontractors who do the installation. Either way, I'd recommend that you go with someone else. My experience with them was a nightmare from start to finish.

Large company that sells out of Costco. They were trying to charge me but they ended up they couldn't charge because they installed it incorrectly. So they had to do some fixing of there install. So I had to fight it to take care of it since it was there error.

This company came across as very disorganized and unprofessional. 1. Setting an appointment: when I was called to set an appointment, they asked if I wanted to replace my units. I sad yes, and look forward to getting the estimate and hopefully taking advantage of the special promotion with Costco. I also told them someone was coming to inspect the current units as I had just moved into the house. My appointment was for Wednesday, June 24th, but I got a call from the estimator on June 23rd that he was an hour away from my house. I reminded him the appointment was for the next day, and he realized that I was right. Later that day, I got a call from the office that my June 24th appointment was canceled. When I asked why, I was told because I have another company company in to see check on my units. After telling the person on the phone the cancellation was unacceptable, and would inform Costco of FH Furr's poor service, I was then given a new time on June 24th. 2. The Actual Visit: when the estimator arrived, we asked three times if I own the house (which I do, and told him that each time). He then stated the house was listed for rent (where?). After doing a cursory walk-through of the house and units, he told me FH Furr could not help me. He stated I needed to replace not only the units, but all the duct work. When I asked what would be the estimate for doing all of this work, he gave me a range. He then stated the work would not be done until September because they were focused on people who actually had issues with their systems right now. When I asked when an actual estimate can be provided, he told me I had to watch until an inspector came out in September to perform a walk-through.
Description of Work: They were supposed to provide me an estimate for replacing HVAC units at my home as part of a special Costco promotion.

Brand new heat pump (A/C heating combo unit) purchased and installed from F H Furr has failed every year in the summer. First it was the control board. When I tried to claim the warranty first they said it's not covered then they still wanted to charge me about $500. They have lots of hidden fees (unlike what they claim). Among these are a warranty claim fee and a parts ordering fee. Laughable. Next year it fails again. F H Furr states I need more refrigerant. The following year it fails AGAIN. This time F H Furr comes out and states the previous technician failed to put the metal cap back on. Are you serious? So I had to recharge the refrigerant. Now today I had to have another diagnostic done because the unit failed AGAIN (that's 4 times now). Since the warranty expired and I have had enough with this company's incompetence I called another service provider (Snell). Guess what the problem was. Low refrigerant. Why? Taking a look at the cap that F H Furr replaced the original one that they had put in, it was missing the O ring! Not only does this go to show the sheer incompetence of this company and its technicians, it also means that they install used products on your unit. This has been the worst experience I have ever had. I tried calling to file a complaint and was informed that both the managers (Rick T? and the customer service manager) were unavailable. I left a voicemail and have not been contacted back.
Description of Work: 5 yrs ago had brand new 2010 model HVAC heat pump installed in condo. Every year since then it failed and they had to "repair" it 3 times.

We called and spoke with the Service Manager, who was very unhelpful. He stated that they have a policy that if they call in an hour before the appointment and there's no answer they don't show up. We told him that we had spoken to them that morning and confirm the appointment, and that we were there all afternoon. I have since canceled my annual service with FH Furr, however I have still not received a refund for the monthly billing which covers this service.
Description of Work: We have had an Annual service contract with FH Furr for several years. Months ago we scheduled the annual spring air conditioning check up. The day before the appointment we called to confirm and was told it was a still good? The next day, on the morning of the appointment, they called and asked to come early - which we could not do. They failed to show up in the afternoon, as scheduled.

Salesman was very good. Convinced us to go with FH Furr based on their relationship with Costco, even though their price was higher. Had a bit of a tussle over their terms and conditions-- which claimed I'd be responsible for any issues due to improper sizing of the unit, improper installation-- they argued that since they were giving me a warranty, that was not applicable... we ended up agreeing to strike through those portions of the terms and conditions. Installers were very polite, the installation took ALL day. We were actually eating dinner at 7:30 when they finally left. Polite, professional, cleaned up after themselves. They do not tell you up front that you will also have to be home for the Loudoun county inspection. Had to call the FH Furr office twice to schedule as they did not return my first call. Inspection went fine, but a hassle to have to be home on two different days-- and was not stated up-front. Also inspector will not give you a time until the day of.

On the hottest day, so far in May 2015, three men arrived exactly on-time and began assessing the logistics of equipment movement. That quickly resolved by the Frank, the lead installer, Percy and Marco got right to work moving and unpacking the new equipment in the back yard and then straight to removing the old equipment from the house. The old freon was pumped into a recovery container and Marco soon had a new larger pad in place with the A/C unit on it ready for connection. At the same time inside, Frank and Percy had disconnect electrical and gas connections and cut the existing duct work so the old furnace could be removed. New furnace in place Percy began the design and fabrication of the maze of duct work required to reconnect the house and add the MERV11 filter and humidifier. Meanwhile Frank was adding the wiring for an upstairs thermostat, electric zone dampers, humidifier controls, installing the system controller and the icomfort approximately 7 inch display. Marco had removed the old hot water heater and was installing the new 50 gallon tank. A forth man, Bruce, arrived in the afternoon to check on installation progress and quickly put himself to work on adding aluminum shielding, support strapping and verifying the installation. These men worked tirelessly for 12 hours on a very hot day to get everything finished and only took one very short 10 minute break in the afternoon. The utility room is very small with furnace, hot water heater, washer and dryer. They worked amazingly well together, at the same time, in one small space on the same furnace. They are all superior craftsmen and it is a credit to F.H. Furr for finding people like Frank, Percy, Marco and Bruce and fostering the kind of teamwork I saw during this installation.
Description of Work: Removed existing 23 year old HVAC (outside A/C unit, inside gas furnace, some duct work and thermostat) and a 23 year old gas hot water heater. Installed new Lennox equipment including an efficient air conditioner, variable speed gas furnace, large air filter, by-pass humidifier, automatic zone control dampers controlled by a wifi connected 7 inch icomfort touchscreen that has more control options than I can explain here. It shows the 5 day weather forecast too. Also they installed a new gas 50 gallon water heater. Additional thermostat in a second zone upstairs that tells the system when and which dampers to close to move air to where needed. On-site design and fabrication of the duct-work required to reconnect the new system to the existing ducts, install motorized dampers, install the controller module and wiring to all components and provide required venting for the furnace and hot water heater. Install thermostats and program the vent sizes, damper information and airflow into the controller.

Very disappointed with this service provider which was happy to sell me a new HVAC system two years ago and an annual service contract, but is not following up to provide those services in a timely manner. FH Furr charged me the annual fee for the HVAC annual service but never contacted me to set up an appointment. When I called in to do so, the only appointment available was over a month away. It appears that they do not have enough staff on hand to service existing clients. Very disappointed by the poor customer service I'm receiving after making a fairly large purchase with them for the HVAC system.
Description of Work: I have an annual service contractor with the provider to service my HVAC system that they installed. Last year, they came and performed the service well. This year, they charged me for the service, never contacted me to schedule service, and, when I followed up, only offered a service date over a month away.

I had another job done by FH Furr with my other 2-zone heating and air conditioning system. They replaced my upstairs system a couple of years ago. I invited them to come in and give me a bid to do the downstairs system. I accepted the FH Furr proposal, but I also saw them listed on Angie's List as an HVAC company and they didn't get a star rating. They're also a plumbing company. They're like a lot of companies that have HVAC, plumbing and electrical. They have a lot of business areas that they cover. I liked their proposal and I liked their price. They were a little pricey and even when I read the actual Angie's List reviews the ones that gave favorable opinions said "A little pricey, but they do good work." Even the county inspector that came after the fact because it was a natural gas installation said that out of all the properties that he's seen per view and installation that they do good work. I was there all day when they were working and I was very pleased with their installation. The marketing guy was very responsive when I had questions about their quote. When I scheduled the install, literally I called to say how soon can they do it and they said how about tomorrow. I said okay and this was like on a Wednesday because I accepted their offer on Tuesday. Wednesday I decided to schedule because I was going out of town, so I said how about Friday and they said we could do Friday. Literally after a couple of days after me accepting their contract, signing it and approving they were in my house doing the install of taking out the old system and putting in the new system. They did a very neat and tidy job. It was really fun to watch. It was part of a Costco sponsored arrangement because I'm a Costco member. If you go to the store, if you're a member, you'll see a FH Furr both in the Costco store. It's like the Costco selected provider for this kind of a product. My contract for FH Furr was for $11,500, but it included a $1,050 cash rebate from Costco because it was through a Costco sponsored purchase. I paid $11,500 but in about a month I am suppose to get $1,000 from Costco as a rebate, so my net cost is $10,500. I added some upgrades, so I paid a little more for each of the major components because you're buying a 15-20 year investment. If you're going to live it with that long, you might as well get what you want because once you put it in it's almost impossible to upgrade it after the fact. A lot of the stuff is built in by the manufacturer. It's one of those things where you get what you pay for. If somebody gives you a cutthroat low price, you might get a cutthroat low service. They did an A+ installation, but I paid top dollar for it and it's worth it. I would do the same transaction again if I had to go back. I paid the premium but I got a job done by premium installers. I expected A+ installation, I got it and I paid an A+ price for it. I got what I paid for and I paid what they deserved to get for what they did. I found nothing disappointing. I was very pleased with everything about this transaction. They showed up on time, got the job done in one day and were on their way home by 5:30. They started at 8:30 and it was done by 5:30. They left an immaculate work area. They did a great job! I got their sales guy, Sean Telly, in my phone. He's on my speed-dial. They said that their guys would be there from 8:30-9:30 in the morning and they got here at 8:30. They are very competent and respectful. They were on top of their game. They did welding, plumbing and all the specialties that go with this kind of a complex installation. They did it and left a beautiful install. I recommend anyone to give them an opportunity to bid on a job of this magnitude. I would shop it just like anything. I got two offers. One company just didn't give me an offer. I gave them an opportunity and they just did not reply. I did get an offer from one and I did not choose that offer.
Description of Work: I just replaced my HVAC system on my house. They brought a brand new system. It was a $10,000 heating, ventilation and air conditioning unit. It's a gas furnace with an air conditioner total assembly. He set up a basement furnace, an outside compressor unit, a circulation fan and I got a digital thermostat. I upgraded the thermostat. I upgraded the whole house humidifier and I upgraded the air blower.
