 + -1 moreThey put a sticker on my water heater that says if I get a new water heater from them I will get a discount. They did excellent work. The price was comparable to everybody else. They give you a window and they've always made the window. When you call to make an appointment, they say we will be there within this time period, a window and they've always made the window.
Description of Work: I've had them put in new valves. They installed new ones. That involved cutting the water off, cutting the pipe and putting new valves in.

Description of Work: Our AC died on the hottest day of the season so far. We called F.H Furr and they were already over booked (it was a Saturday). We left our information and scheduled for later, but just a few hours later, a technician called, came by, and fixed the problem. We are so grateful we didn't have to suffer the 90 degree conditions without AC.

 + -1 morePlumbing super James was rude and not curtious when we called to complaint about Mike's lack of effort and not properly equipped. Two bathrooms in basement backed up and Mike made no attempt to snake the drains which was one of the reason we called James to complaint. After Mike left, we used a plunger and plunged one of the toilets 15 times and blockage gone and all backups drained out. Simple solution and should have been the first thing Mike tried. May be plunger is too elemtary for Mike and complaining to James made no differences.

 + -1 moreThis is the first time we have used FH Furr for electrical work but the electrician efficiently identified the problem-a faulty breaker-an replaced it. He also suggested a whole house surge protector but did not give a hard sell. It sounded like a good safety precaution so I had that installed as well-also efficiently. Lastly, I asked for the wall outlet that shorted and started the whole problem to be wired a little differently so that only one of the two plugs would be on the light switch and the other constantly hot-done. He did this all while be very pleasant and professional.
Description of Work: Replace faulty circuit breaker. Also installed whole-house surge protector and rewired a switched outlet to be duplexed.

Description of Work: HVAC repair; had a Lennox HVAC system installed 20 months ago, and for whatever reason some kind of gauge went out. Since FH Furr installed the unit I purchased from Costco, I called them when my A/C didn't come on this season. When the first tech came, he did not perform a leak test (which is what I later learned is recommended for low refrigerant), and filled up the lost refrigerant. Since the system is so new I decided to do some investigative work as to what might be happening, I found there was a recall from Lennox on the cooling coil. I didn't find out this information until after the service tech left. So I called the FH Furr the next day explaining that I had found information on a recall. I was transferred to a manager who handles these types of issues, and after he asked me lots of questions and pulled up the service history, he realized the tech didn't actually do the recommended leak test. He told me he would send a master tech to come and take a look at it. The tech, Chris, who came out did the full diagnostics and found out that a gauge went out, and told me I needed to replace it but needed to order the part. The part arrived a few days later and Chris came back out to replace the gauge and flush out the refrigerant the other tech put in. Chris was very professional and I felt I could trust his expertise. I was not charged for ANY of Chris' work.

Description of Work: I recently purchased and had installed (by FH Furr - April 10) a new HVAC system for my home. The installation went well and the hvac functions well, and quietly! Following the installation, a Washington D.C. inspector found a small leak around the air handler and disapproved the installation. Furr quickly followed up, The technician, Jeffrey, did an excellent job of identifying and stopping all leaks. He is a very skilled, communicative, and a A++ hvac technician. I was very impressed with his knowledge, professionalism, and communication, Furr and Jeffrey have done an excellent job.

Turned off ice maker/water dispenser and the leak ended. He didn't charge any fees since there was nothing he could fix. Greatly appreciate his honesty and investigative skills. Based on this interaction, we will only use FH Furr for future work.

 + -1 moreGreat. Plumbing technician, Michael Bowley, was polite & professional. He explained replacing the pressurized system within the toilet versus getting a whole new toilet. He was upfront that he had not worked on a pressurized one before and called his master plumber about it. He also called his supervisor, to have his supervisor call me back with the costs for doing repairs each way so that I could make a decision on the best way to go. He went over everything and had me inspect when work was done that it was dry (no leaks). Explained everything, and went over caulking versus not. He was very helpful, polite, courteous & professional.

Installation was more difficult for the plumber because of where our disposal was located under the sink - but he was great and a champ. Plus he was nice to my dogs, who were very suspicious of the new person in the house. Our plumber was great to remind me that I had mentioned when making the appointment that I had a coupon from Angie's List - I was surprised I was able to apply it to the total bill!

Description of Work: We had a clogged kitchen sink and found a leak through our basement ceiling. The technician, Michael Leach, came out to investigate the problem. I told him there was a direct link between the clogged sink and the leak. Instead of fixing the pipe under the sink first, he cut the ceiling drywall. If it stopped leaking then we would have known the work was done. Cutting the drywall should have been the last option. Made a bigger business out of it. The company charges exhorbitant prices, $483 to clear a blockage!!!! Replaced the garbage disposal for $480! My husband checked the retail value of the equipment and it is worth $80! Total bill would have been $1347, was 20% discounted through Angie's List. Still high. Now we have to get the drywall repaired at an additional expense.

Rashid and Jonathan performed the installation; they were punctual, professional and polite and did a great job in every aspect (including protecting our floors as they were moving in and out of the house). There was also an electrician from the company who helped with the wiring move (I don't remember his name unfortunately) and he was great as well. We had not used F.H. Furr before this experience; from Mark who came out to assess the situation and provide the estimate to the team installing our system, we are very pleased with their overall professionalism, quality and responsiveness and are happy they will be maintaining our new system. The total cost of the unit may have been a bit more than we originally planned to spend when we first undertook this effort; however, I believe it was well worth the investment once I saw the completed job.
Description of Work: We had our complete HVAC unit replaced and moved.

 + -1 moreI was, at first, a little bit disappointed as the time frame was 12-4. Suraj showed up at around 6 pm. After calling F.H. Furr office (before he arrived), they did tell me that he was running late and was coming from Vienna (in rush hour traffic - I live in Woodbridge). When he did arrive, he was extremely pleasant and ready to work. He explained everything in an a very professional way and things went so smoothly. He took his time and showed us the pictures of what the a/c unit looked like before and after. Itt was a very cold and very rainy night, and he spent all of that time (nearly two hours) outside. I would DEFINITELY rely on F.H. Furr again and ask for Suraj Shahi. He is a very hard working and reliable individual.

I was impressed with Osmin's knowledge and expertise of the job and his attention to detail where I felt completely at ease as he began the work all the way thru its completion. I appreciated the fact that he changed his shoe covers every time he re-entered the house and cleaned up all work areas when the job was complete.
