 + -1 moreThe tech was exactly on time. He did a good job on the install. I was a bit disappointed in the "cleanliness" of the install. We needed to put a hole in my ceiling to run the wire, and the tech did it rather crudely. Over all, he did a good job though.

 + -1 moreI thought 4 lights for $349 sounded like a good deal. They came when scheduled. My wife wanted to add a light over the sink and to make the lights LED vice regular. They said that would be $384 extra and she said OK. That probably was terribly over priced since the additional can and the LEDs only cost $90 retail so they were charging about $250 for an extra 30 minutes of work. There had been a junction box feeding the track light we replaced and they left it there and covered it with a plastic cap to maintain access. My wife thought she might want to more lights and they said they would come back and do that if she wanted. We decided we would want to more lights. When they arrived (on time again) they said that would cost an additional $349. I thought that was again terribly overpriced, but we said go ahead since they were there and we didn't want to go thru the hassle of trying to get someone else in. Again, the 2 cans and LEDs cost no more than $60 so there were charging $290 for no more than an hour labor. My wife hated the cap over the box and they said they could provide an estimate to rewire things so the box and cap would not be viewable. At that point we were in to Courtesy for $1091 for 7 LED recessed lights. I called Tony Baldi, an electrician we had used before and he came out and rewired all the lights and got rid of the junction box (and its cap) for $215--which seemed very reasonable. Anyway, in the future we will not be using Courtesy Electric because their prices are terrible. I would say in every case, they told us what it would cost before the job. They were on time, polite, and professional. I just won't go with them ever again and will stick with Tony. Just goes to show, what we all pretty much know, be careful of the deals. We have used them in the past and they worked out fine, but this one just wasn't a good one. Now we just have to get the textured ceiling fixed.

 + -1 moreAfter they finally came out the work performed was I'd say fair considering its skilled labor.
Description of Work: My rating(s) I believe are fair considering I still have considerable work to do on the work they left behind. Work performed was replace (2) railings, (1) end-cap, (1) 12' support beam, and 2 pickets (not the original two pickets I wanted, because one was heavily damaged in the demo) and cover a old doggy door with vinyl siding (Wood work was already done by me and the siding was previously purchased) Overall quality: I would say is fair. This is considering I had to make a comment about the routed bump outs where the workers hit the screws the put into the railing. One would think that the railing will first have stability screws or nails in place, then put in the final wood screws after the routing work is done. Price: Total price was $865.19. The hourly price isn't so bad, but the fact that it took 11:30 man hours to complete the work is is kindda insane to me. I bought the wood for the repair work (Cost me $36.19 and was quoted $120 by company) which saved them an hour and me another $110hr plus excess materials. Quality: The quality of the finish work is fair to bad. There are obvious places that the router gouged the wood, uneven route lines, uneven railings on top (off by 1/4 inch). I still have a good hour worth of sanding to do to try to repair all the uneven angles and edges. Responsiveness: The were punctual on the do they actually did the work, but this is the third time I had to call them. The first time was over 3 months ago when they came out (on time) and did measurements and promised me a quote then went "dark" on me for over two months. The second time (on time) they came out with two different guys and took pictures and promised me a quote and said they would send me a materials list. Again it took over a month and they never sent out a materials list before they arrived the third time (on time with short notice (called me Friday for following Monday morning)). So in short when they say they will be there they will arrive, just don't expect the work to be started for several months, because they have to keep coming out. Punctuality: Based on the fact that they showed up all three times ontime. I will give them an 'A'. Professionalism: They were curtious and polite, both when they arrived and on the phone. The only reason this isn't an 'A' is because based on the shoddy work that was done, they should have made some attempt to somewhat fix it without me having to state the obvious to them. In fairness after I mentioned the router gouging at the screw points, they did move the screws and put some wood putty in the holes, but the router lines are still off and the boards are still uneven. I think a 'B' is more than fair in this category.

Got a call saying they would arrive between 1:30 and 2:30 pm Got a call around 3:30 pm asking if they could come Saturday morning instead. After waiting all day for Courtesy to show up I had enough so I said no to Saturday morning or any other time.

 + -1 moreI purchased two hours for handyman services and let them know in advance that I wanted my kitchen ceiling painted and some spot patching and painting. By the time the 2 guys showed up for one hour, I had decided not to paint the ceiling but instead to just do touch up on the ceiling where some light fixtures had been replaced. One of the two "handymen" was an electrician so he was insisting more than once that I should remove the new light fixtures for a proper paint job. I keep refusing. I also asked them to remove some screws from where pictures had been hung on the bedroom wall to patch and paint, and they didn't even have a screwdriver! I provided all the paint needed for the job but had told them they would have to mix more white paint into the color for the office and living room (both rooms were the same color of paint) as Lowes told me this would need to be done as what the paint they matched came out too dark. I left my apt to grab lunch and came back to find they had various paint spots on the 4 walls in the two rooms. They didn't bother to do a test area until it matched but instead tested on four walls! I had to pay someone else a lot more to fix all this mess. The day of the job the company called to find out the scope of the work and again I told the person who called that I needed light painting and patching. What I ended up with was a mess and "handymen" who arrived with no tools to do the job. They managed to scrare up a paint brush or two (I supplied another) and a roller with no mechanism to roll it. Never have I had to supply handymen the tools they needed to do the job. To top it off a second coat of paint couldn't be applied to the small section of ceiling I asked to be painted because that would take them over the hour and I would have to pay more to have it done! Don't waste your time on this company. I requested my money back but never heard back from them.

 + -1 moreOne man started on disposal while other worked on cabinet door hinge. They were very clear that if it went over the hour even by a little it would be $120 extra charge. When door was done, that workman proceeded to hand tools to first guy. Finished disposal within minutes of hour ending. Ran my dishwasher that evening and flooded my floor. He had forgotten to "punch out" plug in disposal so dishwasher could drain. Also, door hinge was crooked and door hangs on angle and doesn't completely close. I called and same two guys came back (I had to take another morning off of work). Blamed cabinet door on type of hinge, and blamed disposal on a supposed clog. Fixed disposal but refused to be accountable for shoddy work. Asked me "are you happy now"? in a condescending way. Perhaps this company's electrical work is good, but don't use them for handyman work, especially if you get the two incompetents I got.
Description of Work: This was for 2 hours of handyman work. Two men came so I got 1 hour. Needed disposal replaced, cabinet door hinge screwed in, toilet leaks looked at in 2 toilets (I had necessary replacement kits)

 + 0 moreVictor is an excellent electrician, knows his building code and is happy to explain as he goes. The only thing I would have done differently was that I should have clarified to him that I wanted the outlets inset up into the soffit of the 2 foot overhang, so they would be flush. Instead, he installed outlets that are attached to the surface of the soffit so they stick down 5 inches or so, instead of flush. By the time I realized and questioned him, it would have more than doubled the cost and time to redo them and since the work he did was well done, we decided to leave it as it is and will paint them to blend in better.
Description of Work: Got a Angie's special deal and electrician was able to do the work within the 2 hours prepaid. Wired and put in 2 new double outside outlets.

Description of Work: Purchased a special on August 9, 2017. They were to come on August 23. When he arrived said he only wanted to see the job because of bad Angie's list complaints but would reschedule. Never called, never messaged. I messaged and called and after threatening to call Angie's list they called back to my VM. I called but repeatedly got their VM. Then when I spoke they could not do the job this week at all. She kept putting me on hold to check 'schedules'?????? Not professional and should be removed from Angie's list altogether!!! I want my money back NOW!!

He devoted at least an hour to the review and found a few issues that need to be addressed (integrated smoke detectors; gfi in kitchen, bad outlet, etc.). Victor was professional and patient at all times. I never felt he was trying to upsell me. He explained some optional work we could consider but did not create an alarmist picture. I expect to hire this company to do the work and will write another review then.

 + 1 moreIt went well with a few glitches in that brace I had bought for the electical box installation was missing screws. Had to run to Lowes to get an exchange. Also, after getting the brace it was too long and he had to cut off some of it so it would fit. The installation took about 2.5 hrs.
