Well I never got any service. I called after a week or so, and found out they were terribly busy. No problem, I can wait. Finally get appt in Dec. and just before the appt time. Electrician calls me and says he has had an emergency, and can't make it. And they will call to reschedule. These things happen so ok. They call two days later, and he is so booked can't see me till Jan. 4 at 8am. So that is ok, I guess. So, here it is Jan. 4 and I get a call from Victor, and he has been double booked. He is in Alexandria, and I am in Burke! So I tell him forget it. I will tell Angies that I want my mom new back.

It was okay. The problem with it was the weather. It was raining. So, we had to keep rescheduling. They did upgrade it because of the delay. They could probably have more employees. There was this offer out and then, a whole bunch of people jumped on it and then, they couldn't do it as promptly as they needed to, probably.
Description of Work: I purchased a big deal from them. It was $329 for an attic fan installation.

I purchased the service at then end of October. I called and left messages a number of times trying to schedule my appointment and never received a call back. When I finally did talk to them they said they were busy and would call me right back but never did. I called again a couple days later and got in touch with someone and they said again that they couldn't talk and would call me right back. At this point I said that I heard that same story the last time I called and never got a call back. 10 min later I actually get a call back and schedule my appointment. It is now the middle of December. Responsiveness = F. I finally set the appointment to have a new doorknob installed on my closet door and to install the handle/hardware I purchased for my storm door. The current hardware had fallen off. When he shows up I speak to him via phone and he has to go to Home Depot to buy a $9 door knob that I'm charged me $24 dollars. During this phone call we discuss that the original hardware for the store door is no longer manufactured, and the one I purchased will work but the previously drilled holes will be visible. We discuss potentially replacing the entire storm door but in the end I decide to just install the hardware I already purchased and that I will replace the storm door at a later date. Price = C. When I get home that night the closet door knob is replaced but not the storm door. Quality = C. I call to ask why the storm door was not done and said that he misunderstood and he thought I was just going to replace the storm door. He said that because I had not used the entire 2 hours he would come by the next day after his other tasks were completed to install the hardware and that it wouldnt take long. He never showed. Almost a week later he called and left a message saying he would like to come by to install the hardware. I went home and put the hardware on the front step so he could come by to install it whenever he was ready and called to let him know. I got a voicemail later from him stating how he didn't answer my call because he gets paid to work and not talk on the phone and to call him back so he knows to come by, even though my message made it clear that he could come by whenever he was ready. I called him back again there was no answer. The hardware is still sitting on my front porch in the hard plastic wrapper in case he decides to show up and finally install it. Punctuality = F. Professionalism = D.

First of all everybody that purchases a coupon from us, is a customer we always want to deal with! It's very frustrating when something goes wrong and immediately the F's start flying around like crazy!! The day before our appointment,my technician had an emergency with his newborn son. We called the day before. After that we agreed to come back the following Saturday. That Saturday came, and I personally called you, and talked to your wife, and she said my husband is out, but you guys can come over. As we called thirty minutes before we arrived, the husband said we can't come over, I said please call the office to reschedule. Never called me, never left a message!!! We always try to make our customers happy!!! We always try to make things right, but if you do not call and leave a message, we will never know when to come back. Sorry we could not make you guys happy!!

The Chimney Doctor set up an appointment, performed an inspection and gave me a fair estimate. The three technicians were very professional and courteous in doing the work, explained the work performed and cleaned up after themselves. The Chimney Doctor company gave me a six year warranty on the work performed. I contacted three companies before calling the Chimney Doctor. One company representative told me it would cost 850 dollars without inspecting the chimney crown. The second person told me to climb up to my roof, take a picture, and he would let me know if he could do the work. The third chimney repair contractor set up an inspection appointment but failed to show up for the appointment. I highly recommend the Chimney Doctor. Ray G, Manassas, VA

Although add says 2 hours it should say 20 minutes. Company sent two people. by the time you show them what needs to be done, have them tell you it can't be done, and they go to the truck to get their tools you are left with around 15-20 minutes of work. In the end all they did was replace an existing exterior motion light that any semi competent home owner could have done. A waste of money and time.

NOT TRUE!!!!!!! We come to your house' we introduce our selves, then we ask what can we help you with, then our customers tell us there list. We will tell you if what's on your list will be two hours or not! Yes the coupon is for one guys two hours. If we have two guys, it's one hr per tech. Our time starts right after we get our tools. We never ever start the clock while we are going over the list. That is not fair for the customer. The reason why we only installed the motion sensor, was because you did not want to spend more than what you paid Angie's List. The list that you had, was gonna take way more than two hours. We were upfront with you the entire time!!

The crew did a great job from start to finish. The molding looks great and they caulked all the seams much better than most jobs I have seen. Also, I had a return vent that was close to the ceiling and they did a great job of cutting just enough of the molding so that it fits nicely around the vent and still will allow me to remove it for cleaning in the future if need be. I would definitely recommend this vendor.

They said the $99 did not apply to doing any work. What the offer is through you $249 credit toward necessary repairs . I have a copy of the receipt which states this and they verbally said there is no $99 offer that is a mistake. But, that is not what you offered me, my coupon said $99 for two hours of electrical work. They would not honor that and said you made a mistake.
Description of Work: They did the work, simple tasks repairing a switch, changed two lightbulbs, installed a wireless doorbell where there was already an existing Doorbell.

Dear customer, I personally was the one that went to your house (Victor Figueroa). When we got there first of all I was talking to your husband the entire time. Once we introduce ourselves, the first thing that I always ask my customers is what coupon did you guys purchase? When I asked this question to your husband he was not aware as to,what coupon was purchased. Finally when the wife came downstairs I asked her what coupons she purchased. She told me that she thinks she purchased the $99 coupon. I asked her do you know which one, because we have two coupons for $99. I never said that we do not honor the two hour coupon that is not a fair statement! What I did tell the customer was the $99 coupon one is for a $249 discount towards any projects or the $99 for two hours. we were there for 2 1/2 hours with two guys. I ended up doing a proposal for the customer and gave her $249 discount. That is what both parties agreed on. Then all of a sudden two weeks later we receive a phone call saying that we were not honoring the coupon and that we tricked the customer. At the end of the day The customer was very confused. It's so unfair that we received after all of the hard work we ended up doing for this particular customer. We even fixed her surroundsound that somebody installed incorrectly! We did this off the clock.

It took a bit to get on the schedule but they arrived promptly. The were very competent, clean, proficient, and fast. We were hoping to get 1 project done in the 2 man hours and they ended up doing 2, with time to spare.

I took advantage of a special offer from Courtesy Electric for 2 hours of door maintenance for $149. I suggested 3 dates when they could do the work. The first date came and went, although Courtesy had acknowledged my sign up. I subsequently got a call that Jose would call me on Monday, December 7. No call. He finally called on the 8th-my second date choice-saying he had been busy and told me he would schedule me for the next day and would call me with a time as soon as he talked with the tech. Oscar showed up on the 9th, a little later than I had originally been told. But what a gem Oscar is! He went right to work and was fully prepared with booties for his shoes and a soft blanket to lay the door down on my hardwood floor. The problem was, he didn't have the weatherstripping I had asked Jose (twice) to make sure Oscar brought with him (I had agreed to pay the additional charge). So, Oscar had to make a run to the hardware store. Unfortunately, that was 30 minutes out of my 2 hr allotted time. But the replacement went well on both the front and back doors. I was left with some repainting to do since the new weatherstrip did not fit the same as the 31 year old weatherstrip. But Oscar worked hard and worked fast and taught me alot about the importance of a good seal on the outside doors. It was so reassuring to know it was being done right. Thank you, Oscar!

My wife first wanted a shutter installed, but the handyman came by and did not have the right tools ... and no ladder. Second visit, our ladder was deemed insufficient and handyman seemed not to have an appropriate ladder. Owner did provide a useful bid for some extended work, which my wife decided not to do. Came up with another idea, but just learned the owner's handymen were not appropriate to provide the service I need. Owner often seemed uncertain as to what his people had done. In fact, when I called today he thought the three hours of handyman work had already been done. In fact, no work has been done for me, at all. Visits, alone, do not count as service. I ended up having the shutter work done by someone else I could count on. Communications have not gone well. My wife no longer trusts this business and will NOT be recommending them. I'm afraid I couldn't trust any work they might do for me -- will be asking for my money back. It's been a long time since I paid for service. All this said, I feel the owner meant well, but it seemed I couldn't find anything I needed done that he was willing to do ... at least for the price I had paid.
Description of Work: In the end, nothing. Did visit several times, but nothing ever seemed to be set up right for any work to be done.

It was a little hard to set up the appointment, but all went very well after that. They fixed two interior doors that would not close/latch, and gave me options for how the door that would not close could be fixed. They also installed weatherstripping on a door that led from the apartment to the balcony. I was very pleased with their professionalism and the quality of the work.

Started out as a bad circuit breaker. During work they said the main circuit breaker was burning at the pull out connection. Not doubting their word, but could also probably be done if they pulled out the pull out main breaker just a little bit. We agreed on a full panel replacement that went from about a $100 job to about $3700.00. They also suggested a main circuit breaker for about $300.00 that e also agreed. They were a little slow in getting the permit, not until after I called. The work went fine and passed the inspection the first time. They also patched the drywall where they had cut and had put the main circuit breaker below the panel. If you get the main circuit breaker make sure you understand where and how it will be installed and how they will patch the area around it.

The pros: 1. The contractor immediately told me what the issue was and what it would take to fix it. The cons: 1. He could not do any of it and just adjusted the screws and I still have to get another contractor to come in and fix the problem. 2. I got 15 mins of my 2 hours of door maintenance. 3. Lesson's learned...a coupon is not always the best option.
Description of Work: I paid for the 2 hours of door maintenance, because my front door was sticking and water was getting into the foyer.

Company technician Oscar showed up on time. He was very professional and represented the company well. I reviewed what I wanted him to do and he went right to work. He had all the tools and know how to complete the job. When he was done he made sure that I was completely satisfied with his work. Victor & his assistant called to let me know they were on the way, arrived promptly when they said they would and went right to work. They were both professional and friendly, and got the work done quickly, they were also conscientious about keeping their shoes covered and cleaning up after the work was completed. I would definitely have them back for additional work when needed!

It was okay. I wasn't overly impressed. they were a little over priced. The only issues I saw was cleaning up when done and his understudy made two holes and not one and then put goop all over. They were exceptionally nice. I don't think there a bad company. We scheduled and they had to come back in. The project grew as he consulted with me.

The technician was very professional in every aspect of his work. He first put on booties over his shoes before he came in the house. He took off my very old doorknob in the basement to see why it wasn't performing. He showed it to me as it was the original doorknob from the 60s. He said he could oil it and put it back together but it probably wouldn't function very long as it had pretty much worn out. So we decided on a new doorknob and he went to the store to buy one like I described and came back and installed it. His time was covered by the Angie's List coupon so he only charged me for the cost of the new hardware. He was very easy to work with and represented his company well. I would definitely use this company again.
Description of Work: The technician took out my very old doorknob to a basement door. It was unreliable in locking. It was so old that it was beyond repair. The technician went to the hardware store to buy a replacement doorknob per my request, came back and installed the new one.

I bought a 2 hour Big Deal through angie's list to take care of some bottom door weatherstripping. He took care of this, but in the process pointed out that it was pretty clear that some of the wood underneath the door was almost certainly rotten and needed to be replaced before serious problems occurred. He identified a problem with a heavy set of plantation shutters on a door that was causing it to shift and not close right, so he switched the hinges to put the stronger hinge on the top and eliminated the problem. He showed me that a problem with hinge on another door was not a hinge problem, but simply that the wood on the door frame had shifted or swollen. Once pointed out, I was able to sand down, prime and paint myself to fix a problem that has annoyed me for 15 years. He ID'd wood that was leading to peeling paint and water getting in and recommended replacing the outside wood casing, but said that the door itself was fine and solid. He promised to get his boss to give me a call and arrange to come by to give me an estimate so I can get this fixed. Overall, he did an excellent job, explained the issues clearly, was careful not to leave a mess, addressed the issues directly and quickly without wasting a lot of time and generally did a good job. I'd certainly use him again.
Description of Work: Replaced weatherstripping to bottom of 2 doors, addressed adjustments for 1 door and identified several unexpected door problems & rotten wood that was clear once pointed out.
