Courtesy Electric was easy to contact. They returned phone calls promptly and scheduled the installation at a convenient time for us. Both on the phone and on the day of installation, Courtesy explained the scope of the project including details of the holes that would be cut in the ceiling and wall for installation. They gave an exact cost of the all the work up front. On the scheduled day, Carlos, the technician, that came to our home called before hand to give his arrival time. He arrived on time and explained how he would proceed. Carlos asked where we would like the lights installed and then showed us exactly where he would cut based on the joists in our ceiling. The lights were installed exactly where he indicated they would be. After installing the lights Carlos cleaned up all the dust and debris in the room and moved all the furniture back to where it was originally. Carlos was very polite and concerned about our satisfaction with the the project. We were very impressed with the service from Courtesy and would definitely use them again. We would highly recommend Courtesy for any electrical issues or projects.

I bought one of their specials. The ceiling fan in one bedroom wouldn't turn on. For that one and one in another room we have a sliding switch on the wall. My neighbor had said they needed to be replaced. The attic fan - I wasn't hearing it come on now that the weather was warm. To their credit they did not replace the wall switches. They said it wasn't needed. The ceiling fan just needed a stronger tug to get it started and then it would work from the switch. Embarrassing but hey, I didn't know and they didn't do unnecessary work. The attic fan was working but it was so quiet that I couldn't hear it until they opened the attic door. (Which is cumbersome.) For their honesty I would try them again if necessary.

After agreeing on time range of 1-5 pm for work on March 29, I had to call the Courtesy Electric and Home Improvement Inc. at 4 pm to find out if they are coming or not. The person who took the call said that technicians are out on work and they will contact you. At around 4.30 pm I finally received a call that they are on the way it will take them half an hour or 40 minutes to reach. The technicians arrived at 5.10 pm. Looked at what was to be done and announced their charges. We agreed to that. One technician installed a light in about fifteen minutes. The other who had to perform the main task of rectifying the wiring of a curio cabinet spent about 20-25 minutes on it. In the meanwhile he popped one light bulb by installing it on a light point to test if the system is working despite being told that it will not work unless necessary repairs are done. This light was worth US$ 7.50. Unable to do it he said that this cannot be done because the cabinet is not designed to work on American system and decided to leave it at that. His advice was to change the light points and that might help !!! He was told that all other electrical items that I have brought with me from my country are working fine. Even in this cabinet the fluorescent tube is working perfectly fine. He of course had no answer to that. This is despite the fact that I had made an effort to talk to the Courtesy Electric and Home Improvement Inc. person to explain what all needs to be done and whether they will be able to do it. I finally enquired what happens to the payment that I have made. I was told since the payment has already been made in the system nothing can be done now. My point is that I would not mind paying a bit extra if my work had been done or given the understanding that they will complete it as part of this transaction after I get the requisite items to complete it. To be honest I am deeply disappointed.

They were great. Easy to work with the office to scheudle. The work was done well. The techinicians were friendly and polite. Very happy and would use them again.

It took multiple phone calls over several weeks to schedule an appointment. To be fair the holidays occurred during the period, but every time I called he was out on a call and asked me to call him back some other time. And he showed no interest in calling me back or scheduling by email. I had to wonder if that was because I had already paid. When he arrived he was punctual, professional, and knowledgable. But the scheduling made it an extremely frustrating experience.

Went very well - the techs also made some recommendations for the replacement of my circuit board.

Courtesy Electric and Home Improvement Inc.did our bathroom remodel. Overall the process went well and we like the finished product. They were very timely in starting the project. When they did the demolition, they found some mold in the wall board from a previous leak in the roof. They brought in a large fan to dry it out and removed the mold. They even replaced some of the studs and resealed the roof just to be sure. The first few days went well. The workers put in a full day building the shower back up. Later in the process, a group would come in and do one small chore and leave when they finished. When asked if anyone would come and work on the other items, they did not know, so we were stuck waiting not knowing if anyone was coming. This sort of thing happened a few times where we were unsure if anyone was coming that day. Communication was lacking. We contacted one of the owners to find out when someone was coming and at what time and things got better. We later found out that the team who was initially working with us were fired because of the above problems not only with us but some other clients. Once the owners were aware of the problem, they quickly fixed things and they got someone to finish up our project. I think this speaks highly of the owners. Once they were aware of the issue, they fixed it and apologized for the problem. They were very concerned that we were taken care of and were happy. Although it took longer than expected, we are pleased with the final product. I would use them again. In fact, I am having them return to take care of some electrical issues.

Previous to this time, the appointment was made for Friday, March 11 from 1-5pm. No one showed up. I waited at home the entire time. When I called mid afternoon, I got voice mail but it was filled up. When he called on Monday he said they had been sick and I should have received an email cancelling Friday. I did not receive an email. I'm sorry now that I told him to come on Tuesday. When I called Angie's List to say I had sent them away on Tuesday, they had already told Angie's List that they had completed the work. I said they had been here about 20 minutes when I sent them away for trying to charge me $275 to "check the lines". Angie's List has since sent me an email saying that I had been refunded the $99 price for 3 hours service. I would not hire these people again.

Lack of responsiveness to schedule work, and the fact that no one wanted to inspect the job site before starting work made me lose confidence in the contractor, so I cancelled the deal and found another contractor.

After we first scheduled, we received a call the night before our appointment and we were told that someone called out sick and that they would not be able to make our appointment. So, we ended up rescheduling. On the morning of our appointment, we received a call about an hour before and they told us they were on their way and how long it would be before they showed up. They arrived on time. Victor and Sam covered their shoes when they entered the house to ensure that they didn't track anything across our floors. We spoke with Victor and he quickly identified the best location for the 4 lights. He also recommended that we replace a light fixture over our front door with a recessed light so that they would match at an additional cost of $127. He also looked at the recessed lights in our kitchen and said that he usually recommends LEDs but since we had recessed lights in our kitchen they wouldn't match so he recommended we go with the standard recessed lights. Once we agreed on where the lights would go, Victor and Sam helped us move our baby swing and got to work. They used drop cloths and furniture covers to ensure that they didn't get insulation on the floors -- we have a crawling infant. They worked quickly and professionally. They told us before they vacuumed that it would be loud -- again because of the infant. An outlet cover broke during the install. Sam told us and he replaced it. They cleaned up everything and then had us verify that everything was satisfactory. After they left, we did notice some fingerprints on the ceiling, but it wasn't a big deal at all. The lights made the room look bigger, and replacing the fixture made a huge difference. They did an amazing job. We are very happy with the installation and we definitely recommend them. We have even purchased a different deal for them to do more work for us in the future. Victor and Sam were great -- we highly recommend them.

We had an outdoor outlet that had been working intermittently. Saw one of the deals Courtesy Electric and Home Improvement was offering so we purchased the deal to have them take a look at it. It was a great deal. They came by and quickly fixed the outlet. We are very happy with the service we received and definitely will call them again for any future work.

Performed services as advertised. The 2 hours of work resulted in only one door being sealed, but they did a good job which helped cut down the cold air from entering our home.

It was great. Scheduling was a breeze, kept in good contact with me to remind me of service date. Arrived at scheduled time, were amazingly clean and paid a lot of attention to keeping everything neat. Informed me of all they were doing before they did it. Very fast and professional. Cleaned up everything when they were finished. Was a pleasure to have them come work in my home.

Outstanding, professional job! Our house was built in the 1970s and was in need of significant electrical work. Victor conducted a safety inspection and then he took the time to show us the things in the house that were not within code and explained our options to correct the problem areas. It was great having a professional explain to us what needed to be fixed in a way that we could understand. Courtesy Electric then provided us estimates to correct the electrical deficiencies, offering several different options. They were very patient with us as we reviewed the options, and they answered our questions on the estimates promptly. We felt confident contracting for the work and let them know which options we wanted to get done. Courtesy Electric sent us two outstanding electricians to complete the work. Carlos and Sam were very courteous and professional, making sure that we understood what they were working on and even offered us some ideas for lighting. They were prompt, polite, and worked well as a team. They worked hard and efficiently the entire time they were here at our house. We will definitely be working with Courtesy Electric and Home Improvement in the future as we continue to improve our house. Thank you Angie's List for introducing us to Courtesy Electric!

Very friendly and professional!

Dry wall repairs were done satisfactorily. Electrical repairs (three single circuits added to the fuze box) were a little more concerning. We felt the electrical job was rushed, and although the circuits are working properly, they were not annotated on the fuze box. Additionally, the junction box installed to connect the new circuits was not covered and the owner was supposed to call me back to confirm some information, but never did. Overall, the dry wall work was probably a "B" and the electrical work was a "D". We will not be calling them in the future.

The generator was delivered and installed immediately. A gas line upgrade was also immediately scheduled which went off without a hitch. Still, this is not a quick process and many steps remained before the install was complete and the generator would be operational. We have an older house which posed challenges with getting the needed gas lines from the generator to the gas gauge located on different sides of the house. It took 2 visits to install the gas lines; extra time to get a permit from Arlington county; and then we ran into weather delays... Courtesy Electric kept in touch and followed through. Now that the generator is installed, it has started up every 2 weeks, as scheduled, and when we lost power one early winter morning getting ready for work in the dark, it clicked on. We only needed it for a few moments, however, it was very nice to know it works and we are very pleased.

It started out well. I was contacted and a date was set. Then the contractor cancelled multiple times. The crown molding installer had the flu twice in 2 months. I don't mind if a contractor has to cancel but I should have some warning since I take the day off and wait around for them to arrive. The process started in November and I waited until January to cancel. Now I am forced to use the credit for something else, in short an interest free loan to angies list until I find a new project I want to do in my house.

Bought $119 two hour special on Angie's. Called number provided and made appt. with Jose for rental house in Franconia. Jose had to change appt. but we finally got together at an agreed time. Jose and his helper came and evaluated panel, circuit loadsl and measured for new circuits. However, they said they did not have materials available to do work at the time, and he would provide written estimates later. They left after about an hour. After several phone calls and emails, I was never able to actually get the estimates. Jose said he had sent them but they never showed up in my in-box or spam filter either. I gave up and got another electrician to do the work.

It was very difficult to get in contact with this guy. It's been almost a month and I still have not had him to do the work.

The estimated cost for the electrical work alone was reasonable but it masked the total costs of the project which involved drywall repair, painting, and adding a switch to operate the lights which nearly tripled the cost. Chose not to spend the money on the project

Mostly fine.... only hiccup was that when I initially called I had indicated one of the jobs needed was to replace a programmable thermostat. When the tech arrived he informed me that they couldn't replace my thermostat as that's not a service they provide. So I was a tad disappointed that there was a disconnect between the scheduler and the technicians that meant my job couldn't be completed. That said, the tech Victor was very professional and we had time to sit and discuss costs for three future jobs that I wish to complete.

Purchased $69 deal (service call + $125 credit toward repairs) on 12/13/15 when 4 outlets in the kitchen stopped working. First availability in Alexandria for a service all was 1/7/16, which I scheduled. Two-man crew arrived on time, who were polite and professional and informed me right away that diagnostics cost $275, which meant an additional $150 to find out what the problem was. Within 10 minutes, they identified the problem as a failed GFCI outlet. I was then informed that they would need to go to Home Depot because their truck was in the shop for repairs, so they did not have any outlets with them on that day. I agreed, as it's 5 minutes away. One hour later the outlet had been replaced and the kitchen area had been cleaned. The owner/manager stopped by the house toward the end to ask if I was satisfied by the work, and then they left. Overall, the work was satisfactory - they quickly identified the problem and installed the outlet without any problems; however, the scheduling delay and the delay caused by the need to go to Home Depot were frustrating. The price seemed high as well for such a simple job.
