 + -1 moreDishonest and had to repeat job and return numerous times due to incompetency. Picture shows how they slashed my new carpet and tried to glue it down during tile job! He had to return twice for that, then they never sealed the tile of course. He installed a new panel and ALSO had to return twice for that, because he was in such a hurry he forgot to hook up the dryer with a 220 Volt and the garbage disposal. But the dishonesty was incredible! Lied about pulling the city permit. Fairfax City was ready to go after them but they went the day they were going to take action and pulled the permit two months after the job. He seems like such a nice guy right? hmmm...

 + 1 moreWhat was accomplished was impressive. Nice guy, and a knowledgeable worker. I do have two things that did not go as it should have, but they are management or head office miscommunications: 1) His office did not give him my email that listed the jobs to be done. That meant he did not make sure to have a GFCI plug with him, so that he could replace the one that stopped working in my kitchen. Such is life. 2) Also, even though I listed installing a new thermostat for my upstairs HVAC in my email, I was not told they do not install thermostats until he was at my house. I had a new one sitting there awaiting its installation. But besides those two things, I really liked that he got so much other stuff done in the two hours I paid $119 for, using Angie's list. Just so you know, an extra hour of work would have been $189, billed by the quarter hour.
Description of Work: He replaced six Decora duplex outlets, in existing wall boxes, with a newer version of plug that I provided. These new outlets have integral USB chargers, so I put one or two in several areas of the house. He reset the four ceiling fans and their remotes to unique frequencies, so that each remote would only turn on or off one ceiling fan's blades and/or one ceiling fan's light. I have eight ceiling fans, and they were originally installed so a remote in one room would turn on fans and lights in more than one room -- the remote's signal travels right through the walls. I now know how to do that, so I will look at the other four ceiling fans and their remotes to coordinate their frequencies. He installed two SnapLight night light, duplex outlet covers. They have three LED lights integral in the cover plate, that turn on when it gets dark. I had goofed up one outlet and he had to reinstall the plug because I had loosened the push-in-wire screws, when I was fiddling with the plug. Stupid me. I had two old smoke alarms to reinstall (after I had the house painted) that he told me should be replaced by new ones, because mine are over ten years old. I did not know that. He installed a LED ceiling light that I provided in the existing ceiling box in the screened porch. I thought that was pretty good for just two hours of work.

They had to add cement to some damage that was found underneath the vanity. So they said it needed more time to dry, annoying, but fine. They started on Friday, and left me with no bathroom (my condo only has 1 bathroom) all weekend. I had to go to a hotel. The money keeps piling up. They assured me they were coming at 8am Monday to finish. No show. Not responding to my calls or emails now. I have no bathroom and nowhere to stay.

 + 0 moreJose, Paul, and Gabby made repairs to most of the drywall problems on the first day. Two required a more trips to apply tape, mud, and sand the dried mud. The finished results are perfect and we are very pleased. We found Jose, Paul, and Gabby to be very personable and they worked diligently. On the last visit, they even repaired the front door latch (which they noticed was loose as they entered the house) before they left.. We will definitely hire them again.
Description of Work: I needed drywall repair in several places in the house. The repair that took the most time was the peak of a cathedral ceiling in the family room where the original installer's drywall tape had come loose along the length of the seam.

Sometimes they don't carry all of the electrical components so they'll claim that they don't have the right stuff and require extra time to go to the contractors store to get the parts.
Description of Work: I purchased a deal through Angie's List for this company. I had them fix the wiring in my dining room chandelier. They had to take down the chandelier, fix the wiring and rehang it.

Their tools were insufficient for removing wallpaper (e.g., no wallpaper scoring tools, only one with wallpaper scraping tool). This job was particularly challenging as the wallpaper was not properly installed by previous owners so removing it was slow and unproductive, but that was not the fault of the workers. Some minor damage was done to the underlying drywall in a couple of places.

 + 1 moreit went well. The chandelier issue was not what the electrician originally thought. e thought it was a bad dimmer switch. After ruling everything else out, he produced the ladder and checked the chandelier itself. That's how he found the loose wire. The transmitter changeout was fairly routine. He had to go back to his office to get the specialty bulbs that had just arrived.
Description of Work: a chandelier didn't work.....fix loose wire change transmitter in overhead fan to replace lost remote change out light bulbs
