Blue Isle Granite & Tile

This is the second time we have worked with Blue Isle and the experience was just a great as the first time! From getting the estimate through installation, they are very professional, courteous, and helpful. They handled the difficult layout of this old style kitchen and Ike made a suggestion for a change in granite color that was spot-on and made the job look even better than I had imagined. He even managed to accomodate some existing backsplash tiles so that I didn't have to make any changes to the walls. I can't say enough good things about this company and their workmanship.

I emailed Tamara to see if they had some luna pearl granite for our hearthstone. Tamara sent me an estimate and a picture of the slab. We arranged things. Ike did beautiful work on the fabrication and did a great job with the installation. They are price competitive with everyone but the professionalism and execution really sets them apart. I will go with Blue Isle for my next granite job.

The owner was very personable, talked about recommendations and ideas, plus we very detailed in his measurements and planning the job out in advance. He worked up a very competitive price and scheduling installation with his wife was seamless. The day of the job they arrived on-time, we very neat and careful, took their time making sure they lined up and secured everything, and spent extra time caulking to make the final job look great!!

It was a great experience low key no pressure during the estimate. Ike was very good regarding recommendations on extending the overhang in one area. We picked out a color from variety of samples he had with him and apparently I choose a very pricey stone, because the initial estimate was higher than we had anticipated. When it comes to granite there is a big variation based on the stone you select. We are happy with the choice we made and the price came down considerably when we found a more reasonable stone. Ike comes out and makes a template of the exact size of the countertop using rugged plastic cardboard. He managed to use only two seams making the entire job look great. We had one miscommunication during the discussion and contract about the back splash and how it was to be cut around existing window trim. When i pointed out what I wanted, it was accomplished with no fuss even though it required a bit more material.

The Blue Isle team of Tamara and Ike were very professional and guided us through the entire process. We ordered a custom farm sink and purchased a new faucet based upon Ike's recommendations. They arranged for us to view the slab of granite that was to be used prior to the actual installation. The coordination between Blue Isle and the other contractors ( we required some modification work to accomodate the sink) was flawless. Ike measured the areas involved during his initial visit and then a second time just to be certain. When the graite was delivered, it fit perfectly and the installation was done efficiently. His pricing was very competitive in comparison to the others I had received. I would recommend Blue Isle for any marble or granite work.

We had several quotes from other contractors, but settled on Blue Isle Tile due to their quote, professionalism, and it was a one stop shopping approach. Ike came to our home with his silestone samples and assisted us with picking out a countertop that would suit our small size space. We took several weeks before we went with Blue Isle due to other minor kitchen remodeling plans. I also had multiple conversations with Tamara, who was a real pleasure to work with. She was great at communicating about the plans and continued to reach out to us as our other remodeling plans took place. We ended up using a contractor she recommended for the other kitchen services, which were pleased with. It took Ike and his team a couple of hours to install due to the size of our kitchen. We are very pleased with the outcome and would highly recommend using them.

Outstanding work. The measurements were spot on. This slab is leathered Volga Blue, so it's not polished, and Ike did an excellent job of finishing the edges to match. Tamara was responsive and helpful, keeping me informed of the progress as I selected the slab, they acquired it, and Ike measured for it. The job was done well, on time, on budget. I had had an unpleasant experience with another supplier and company, and what a difference this made! Blue Isle honored the 10% Angies List discount.

I chose the company based on their good rating on AL, as well as, their responsiveness. They were quick to respond with an estimate and the actual installation. Ike, knowing that the vanity top was holding up the rest of the renovation, worked us in and installed it within 5 days of the providing the estimate. Their work is impeccable and very clean. Their pricing was also significantly lower than any of the four other companies I received estimates from on the exact same product. We are very pleased. We will use them again when we remodel our master bath. I only wish I knew of them when we remodeled our kitchen.

In a word, fabulous. It was a sincere pleasure working with Ike and his extremely responsive wife Tamara. From the initial estimate / measurement to install we literally had no worries. We love the Emerald Pearl and are extremely looking forward to Blue Isle and Granite replacing our builder grade counter-tops in the upstairs hall and master bathrooms. Prompt return phone calls, friendly and honest communications, punctual with appointments, and the installation was fast and top-drawer. The cost was far less than many competing companies but the quality is the best, You cannot go wrong using Blue Isle!

Working with Ike and Tamara at Blue Isle was wonderful! They really care that you're happy with their work and it is reflected in every step of the process. They take the job so personally, you think you're their only customer. When I got my bid, it initially seemed a little higher than the two other bids I had received. However, when I did an analysis of the actual costs, they were the LEAST EXPENSIVE of the three bids. After my analysis, I realized how other granite companies hide costs and then surprise you with the increase when the job is done. I couldn't be happier with their service, their price and the quality of the work they performed. The finished product is absolutely wonderful. It was a very big job and they were responsive, efficient, honest and competent. What more could you ask for in your contractor?

Tamara and Ike were great to work with! Project went very smoothly and i am very please with the results. Workers arrived on time. They were clean and proffessional. Ike was with them throughout the install. I would not hesitate to use them again.

This company has provided us with outstanding service twice in 18 months. They installed granite counters for us in two different houses, and I highly recommend them to others in Northern Virginia. Tamara was sooo helpful to me while I selected my granite, returning e-mails into the evening, referring me to several different showrooms to help me find the right stone, and getting multiple price quotes. Ike's work is of very high quality, and both are very professional, emphasizing customer satisfaction. Tamara called the next day to make sure I'm satisfied, which umeans alot. I can't say enough good things about Blue Isle Granite and Tile.

Ike was wonderful! From the estimate to installation, he was there for the entire process. He was great to work with. He pointed out things during our estimate that my husband and I never thought of.

They were very polite, punctual and professional. They also had many granite samples available in the truck during the estimate which was very helpful.

The work was meticulous and expert in every detail. Ike is a master stone carver and installer. Everything was ideal and he and Tamara show a keen interest in quality, workmanship, and the satisfaction of their client. He gave me an estimate quickly. He was professional, helpful and pleasant. At that point, I was down to a choice between this company and another company. The reason I went with the other company is because of price only.

This summer we worked with Blue Isle on three separate property rehab projects, each involving the replacement of kitchen and bathroom countertops. Tamara and Ike were a pleasure to deal with, always clear and prompt with their communications, always helpful when questions or scheduling problems came up, always right on time for appointments. Their prices are very competitive and, in my opinion, a bargain for the quality of work they provide. The installations were meticulously done - clean, well polished cuts, tight seams, everything nicely caulked and sealed, everything cleaned up before they left. Couldn't ask for better service! Highly recommended.

It was a real pleasure working with Tamara & Ike! We like the fact that they are a small family business who take pride in their work. They were extremely responsive in setting up the initial meeting, getting us the contract and scheduling the work. Ike was on time for every appointment and installation. Our kitchen is large with a large island (the island required a piece of granite that was at least 131 inches long) and we only ended up with one seam in the whole kitchen just near the sink. If you didn't know where the seam was, it would be hard to detect because Ike did such a great job making it look seamless. The old double sink was replaced with a large single stainless steel one, and we had a large back splash of granite placed on the wall behind the cook top. All placed and sealed beautifully. The bathrooms also look so good now. The master bath has a LARGE mirror which needed to be moved during installation, and we were concerned it might break or crack. Ike handled it carefully during removal and replacement with no problem. Our kitchen and bathrooms have taken on a whole different classy look! Ike truly works magic with granite!!

We visited several local granite installers/fabricators and received a wide range of price estimates and fabrication plans, but we weren't really happy with the pricing or the proposed installations. There were always additional costs-extra charges for the sink cutout, extra charges for more than 3 faucet holes, etc. and there were also unacceptable installation plans, like multiple seams needed to handle the farmhouse sink. In the end we decided to go with Blue Isle Granite based entirely on the reviews here on Angie's List. We never needed to visit their office, we simply communicated via phone and e-mail. We already knew what granite we wanted (Black Pearl) and Tamara directed us to a nearby granite wholesaler and we were able to pick the slabs we wanted. Ike came out on a Monday to take detailed measurements on the granite and he drew up a very detailed fabrication diagram. Ike was very professional and was great to work with making all the final decisions on the fabrication details-faucet hole placement, corner radius, seam, etc, Ike said it would take 7-10 business days before the granite could be installed due to the current workload, but because we were anxious to complete our kitchen, he would check to see if installation could be done sooner. The later that evening I received a contract via e-mail with the installation date set for the following Monday! We were happy that Ike and Tamara were able to install our granite sooner than expected. I then received call from Tamara on Tuesday and she said they knew we needed our kitchen completed, and asked if they could install on Thursday! Wow, we were thrilled. Ike measured on Monday, granite installed on Thursday. That's excellent customer service! Ike and his installation team came out and did a magical job on the install of the granite. Their work was professional, fast, courteous and the end result was fantastic. We are very happy with the granite fabrication. The edging was done perfectly and the corners and radius cuts were perfect. Notches needed to be cut into the bartop to conceal the steel overhang supports. That was a lot of extra work, but it makes the bartop overhang float with no corbels to get in the way. The single seam was nicely done and matches the granite exactly. The caulking work was precise and Ike did Michelangelo-like work with the caulking on the apron sink. The sink was set a little too low but Ike was able to hide the gap with masterful caulking bridging the gap. Blue Isle didn't charge extra for a sink cutout, or the 5 faucet holes, or the notches that needed to be cut for the bartop. Just straight granite and edging cost, along with the 10% discount they give to Angies List members, it was an outstanding deal. Bottom line - We are extremely happy with the work done by Blue Isle granite and would highly recommend them for any granite work.

From the moment I contacted Blue Isle I felt comfortable. Both Tamara and Ike were courteous, professional and easy to talk to. Ike arrived for both the initial appointment and later, for the installation, promptly on time. Ike's workers were also courteous and professional. With respect to customer service, we couldn't be more pleased. Tamara was easy to reach by phone and very pleasant to talk to. She promptly replied to my email messages. Ike explained in detail all aspects of the work. I was especially concerned about who repairs and paints any damaged walls, but Ike eased any concerns I might have had. My wife and I were very pleased with the work done. The countertops are better than we had imagined. Blue Isle definitely show pride in their work. I believe they want the customer to be 100% satisfied and go out of their way to demonstrate that. For example, on contacting Tamara about a small plumbing leak which developed overnight, she arranged for the plumber to repair the leak that day. As it happened, it was a Friday afternoon, and traffic south-bound I-95 was very slow-going. I expected the plumber to cancel but was impressed that he drove from Fairfax to make the repair. I highly recommend Blue Isle Tile and Granite!

We are extremely satisfied with the end result. Blue Isle was extremely responsive, polite and friendly from our initial contact with them. They referred us to their preferred granite wholesalers of which we visited four. All were very helpful. Once we decided on a couple of types of granite that we liked, Blue Isle contacted the supplier then provided us fair and reasonable prices for each type. After making a decision, Ike came to our house and spent several hours producing a detailed template. This was really needed because we picked an exotic granite with lots of "movement" requiring Ike to use all his skill in matching the seams so they would not look disjointed. One week later he arrived with the cut granite and along with his two assistants did an amazing job carrying in the the large pieces into the house navigating up stairs and around sharp corners to the kitchen. They spent the entire day installing the granite countertop including the underlayment sink. Though I checked up on them a few times during the installation, my wife refused to look until it was all done. She was very nervous! When she did go see the final product, she floated on cloud nine! Ike did an really beautiful job in figuring our how to best cut and segment three slabs of granite so the U-shaped countertop looked very natural. We couldn't be happier. A couple of little things worth mentioning. This is a husband and wife outfit that appear to take customer satisfaction very seriously. Tamara was a real pleasure to work with online and on the phone. Her husband Ike was a real professional and also very polite. His two assistants, again, very polite. For us, attitude, professionalism, and politeness go a long way. We picked them because of their good reviews on Angie's List and are very glad we did.

I had done my research & knew that I wanted Silestone and a specific color. I also did not want to hire a plumber to deal with the sink install & wanted someone who could provide plumbing services at a reasonable cost. Home Depot's estimate was close to Blue Isle's, but I wanted to give my business to a local company & chose Blue Isle. Ike was on time to give me an estimate & went over my options. After I placed my order, the prep time was within the time estimated. I was having other kitchen renovations done at the time & Blue Isle was flexible in setting the install date to work around the other contractor. The crew showed up on time. Things were going smoothly with removing the old counter tops & the installation process of the counter tops, but then they hit a snag. The new sink was too deep for the existing plumbing & extra work had to be done with the plumbing, including rerouting the way the dishwasher hooked to the garbage disposal. This is my biggest complaint - they should have checked the plumping under the sink & measured before ordering such a deep sink. It's like the old carpenter's adage, measure twice, cut once. After installation, I had problem with the plumbing. I noticed water under the sink & water accumulating in the bottom of the dishwasher. I called Blue Isle about the water under the sink, & the plumber came out & supposedly fixed things. However, the water kept accumulating under the sink. Also, when I ran the dishwasher, water was leaking out onto the kitchen floor. I was upset that the problem was not fixed & called another plumber about the water under the sink & the water in the dishwasher. They fixed the water under the sink, but said the problem with the dishwasher would be an expensive fix. I called Blue Isle again & they sent the plumber out again to look at the problem with the dishwasher. I got a little pushback from the person on the phone (Tamara, who is actually very pleasant to deal with) that the installation of the new sink could not have any problem with the dishwasher. When the plumber came out, he said, yes the way they had to redo the plumbing was causing water to accumulate at the bottom of the dishwasher & then when I ran the dishwasher, that accumulated water was leaking out on the floor. Basically, as I understood it, it was a matter of gravity. The plumber did say one fix would be expensive, but he was able to rig the tubing that ran between the dishwasher & garbage disposal to fix the gravity issue. Since then, no water accumulating at the bottom of the dishwasher & no water on the floor from the dishwasher. While I don't think this problem should have happened to begin with, I am very happy with Blue Isle's responsiveness & their willingness to fix the problem. The counter top itself is beautiful & unless you are right up top of it, you cannot see the seam. My kitchen is very small (shoebox small) and the counter top makes a big punch. I've had compliments on my new kitchen and oohs and aaahs over the counter top.

They are absolutely professional. We initially found them by tracking down through yellow pages and we had estimates as well from them. We’ve used them ever since. I highly recommend them to anybody. As a matter of fact, they will have first preference for any kind of tile work that we plan to do. We will use their services again in the future.
