I sent a message through Angie's List to request work based on the results of our home inspection. They contacted us the same day to get details on what we needed and scheduled an appointment for exactly one week later. They showed up during the time frame that they gave me and worked very quickly, so they would only need to charge me for the first half hour of work. They charge $125 for the first half hour and $50 for any additional hours. I appreciated that they worked so quickly, so we did not have to pay any additional money and they completed all of the work.

Employees appeared on time on all 3 occasions; one one occasion, the Benfield employee was unable to install the light as the fixture had broken while in transit from the 3rd party manufacturer. Those employees were very professional and did the installs in less than an hour. The only complaint I would have is that the manager, Mr. Tharp, comes off as very intimidating. I tried to ask a question about am electrical problem I was having in the garage and he made me feel like I was an idiot. I have no training in electrical services and thus I do not know the language. All I can say is that there was and still is something wrong with the fixture - a wall plug, which will need attention. I will probably call this company again as what appears to be a DIY job is not turning out to be that way. It would be nice if the office did not make me feel so stupid. The field personnel were very nice and professional.

I signed up for a ceiling fan replacement under an Angie's deal. |Benfield accomodated my schedule, arrived on time and completed the job. |Ceiling fan looks good and works just fine.

We ask the service provider to install the new electrical connection and we will pay the addition but the service tech was rude and told us that was not his job. Even though the coupon state that we can get that service for an additional $125.00 fee, "If this is a new installation (no box or wiring exists) an additional $125.00 will be charged at time of service"

It went great. It was 2 guys and they were ontime, very courteous and did a great job in a timely manner. No problems or concern. I would use them again.

Service representative arrived on time, explained what services would be performed, and completed the service. Rep kept me informed of any items of note while installing the fans (I.e.; fan placement options, fan box install). Rep was very courteous and performed in a timely manner. After install was completed, the service rep showed me how to operate the fan speeds and lighting on the fan unit. I was very pleased with all services provided.

I had them install one on the main floor and the other in the master bedroom. They were great. They showed up on time and they were concerned about being clean. They were careful about not getting dust on my furniture and that kind of stuff. They kept me informed of what they were doing. They had to make several cuts in the drywall and they were very careful about that. They asked me where the best spot for the on and off switch would be. They tried to minimize the drywall damage to just where it needed to be and I really appreciated that. I purchased two of the big deals. I do plan on using them again.

He was very courteous and very meticulous with a complicated fan and light fixture. We love the way it turned out. Would highly recommend them anytime for electrical work..

We had a special problem inasmuch as a large, heavy bed was located directly under the location for the fan installation. The technician improvised without moving the bed. I was impressed with both his skill and courtesy. The installation went beautifully without a glitch and we are very pleased. We plan to use this company in the near future for some additonal work.

Installer came on 26 August. I had a fan I wanted to switch from a move. I did no have all the screws so he could not complete the project. We scheduled for September 3rd. I bought the necessary screws and he was able to change out fan. Company charged me $30. for first trip on 8/26. The serviceman was so courteous. I will always remember his kindness and efficient performance. I appreciate good service companies and their servicemen.

Benfield was recommended to me by a friend who had heard I was in the market for a backup generator. By that point in time I'd already contacted Costco and Home Depot, and called Benfield more out of courtesy to my friend than because I really wanted another estimate. However I was pleased with the estimator's visit - Benfield came in very close to the same price that Home Depot had estimated (both of which were approximately 70% of the Costco vendor's estimate), and at the same time took a more thorough look at the needs and layout at my home than HD did, in particular the A/C load. While the HD estimator also looked at the A/C unit, he consulted tables and stated that I would have to get a new compressor before they could install the generator. By contrast, the Benfield estimator assured me that was not necessary, based on their experience with ~3000 (I think) installations in the NoVA region. This saved me a great deal of money and time. (NOTE: I can't yet confirm Benfield's prediction based on my own personal experience with the generator - there haven't been any power drops since it was installed.) Benfield came across to me as thorough and professional in all respects. I gave them only a B in punctuality, however all installers of backup generators were extremely busy at the time due to post-Sandy demand - based on their performance in other aspects, I think in normal times they would have an A.

I purchased a Benfield Electric Big Deal on a Sunday. Called service mgr. James Tharpe the next day and scheduled service for the following Friday. Benfield tech Claudio showed up within the time window promised. He was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. He replaced an electrical box from dining room ceiling that was inadequate to support a ceiling fan. This was a tedious task as the wiring codes in 1991 when the home was built, are not as tech friendly as new construction today. Once he completed that task, he had the new ceiling fan up in minutes. No wobble, very secure. Strong enough for me to do pull-ups on! Very happy I chose Benfield. I would certainly recommend them.

They showed up on time, did the work in just a matter of minutes and all was well. However, since they have left, one of the lights is not working, so next time I will just replace the whole fixture as I think the fault may be in that. I had purchased another fixture for them to replace, but we decided not to do it at that time.

The electricians arrived as scheduled and took care of all of the work that I requested. They knew what they were doing and performed all work to my satisfaction.

Technician stayed in contact--right as I was wondering when they'd come (near the end of the window they provided), he called to say his previous job was taking a tad longer than expected. Showed up at a mutually agreed upon slightly later time, did the job efficiently and cleanly. Had to go up in the attic --very old wiring, 1948 house.

Jim Tharp of Benfield Electric was very quick in responding with a quote for services. They were very reasonably priced and scheduled service within the next few days. Two electricians came and installed six fans and a light fixture. They were very pleasant, very efficient and very professional. We are having them come back to do additional work in our home. I would recommend this company to anyone.

. Contacted vendor by email, responded the same day. Visited home for survey approximately within week of contact. Installed interface, tested and provided instructions for use. The device is automatic and requires no user interaction, just start the generator. Device automatically switches to power company source when power is restored. The only thing, in my opinion, needed is an internal light or sound signal when commercial power is restored.

I think overall the project worked out fine. I had had a couple of estimates for generators from smaller shops, and did not like the fact that they were not one stop solutions. Benfield/PSP does it all, putting in the pad, connecting the gas line and the electrical work. There were some issues regarding the proper sized generator for our needs. The sales team needs to have a better technical grasp so that they can properly evaluate what is required. In this case we wanted to ensure that we had enough to power our heat pump, particularly the a/c. The initial contract called for a 16kw unit. But when the installation team called to work out the details, it turned out that the 16kw would not work, and we had to redo the contract, including a price increase for the bigger generator and transfer switch. I don't mind that we paid more for a bigger generator, but it would have been nice to have this worked out beforehand without having to scramble. at the last second. There were also some communication issues regarding which circuits to back up with the transfer switch, but overall I thought that they were very professional and responsive to things as they came up. They also did a good job of explaining the functions of the generator, and the maintenance requirements. I would recommend them, but I would also advise anyone seeking a generator to do the research and have a good idea of what you are trying to accomplish, that way the process will work better.
