The King's Masons

The team arrived on time with all the materials they needed and completed the work in less than a day. They did all the work that was contracted for. They cleaned up the area beautifully and their crew was skilled, diligent and polite.

The owner, Richard Baker, personally designed the update to my front entrance, driveway, walkways, and a pool retaining wall. He gave great ideas and advice. They scheduled the work promptly. The crew was extremely experienced, and they had impressive equipment and resources at their disposal. The foreman was professional and friendly. The results exceeded my expectations. They addressed any issues at the end of the project quickly and without any problems.

This was the 3rd of a 4-phase project we hired the King's Masons to complete for us. Since we began working with them in November 2012, everyone on their staff, from project scheduler to project manager, has been courteous, timely, and efficient. Their workers are neat and leave a clean, organized work site at the end of each day. They addressed the few mistakes or settling problems we experienced immediately and without hesitation. Their company was recommended to us by our landscape designer, who has been working with them for over ten years.

The crew worked very hard to clean the stone and pavers and they looked great. Unfortunately the sealant used did not deliver the results promised by the manufacturer and left the natural stone with many striations from the roller the manufacturer insisted be used. King's Masons worked diligently to remove the sealant from the natural stone and would not quit until it was as good as it could get. Then they installed the polymeric sand which was done very well. Mistakes can happen despite best efforts but it is what a company does to resolve problems that reveals their integrity and sense of customer service. I will use this company again without hesitation for additional stonework next year.

Richard Baker, the owner, is a very dedicated individual that takes a feng shui approach to design. I really enjoyed his persona and insight on creating the best use of space.

Quote was provided in Feb and our HOA only approved to proceed last week (June). Office manager was prompt to reply, friendly and knowledgeable. Experienced staff member (owner?) spent 30 minutes yesterday on the phone consulting on whether we need a building permit from the county in our situation and the options to proceed -- hiring them for all of it, providing a plat and hiring them to do the permit,etc. Another mason company said they would not be able to obtain the specially shaped bricks used in our pillars, while King's Masons indicated it was not a problem, just a 8-10 week lead time special order for the manufacturer. King's Masons also indicated they will match the brick color/style and mortar and acid wash the brick so it looks aged like the existing columns, Very happy so for -- will update review if we sign a contract and have work done (that depends on permitting/county, not King's Masons).

The two masons arrived on time and were very professional while doing a good job of reviewing the walkway and discussing with us the areas needing the most repair. Before starting their work, they put up plastic sheeting to help protect the newly painted front entrance area. They preformed their work very well and finished the job in one day as specified in our contract. We were quite pleased with the overall results but noticed several areas that needed touch-up. After submitting photos of those areas, one of the masons returned to do the mortar touch-ups and rewash the walkway. It took several communications for them to do so. It looked like a new walkway when finished. We were very happy with the results!

It went well. They accomodated short notice repairs based on weather opportunities so we could get the house ready for going on the market. Work was great quality and they cleaned up when they were finished. The delayed picking up the insulated cover because the weather got cold again. This allowed additional curing time for the mortar,

We were absolutely impressed with our experience dealing with The King's Masons. We solicited several quotes for installation of a large paver patio. Richard from The Kings' Masons walked us through his approach to the project, which was straightforward and much more technically sound and engineering-based than other bids. To our surprise, his bid was also one of the most reasonable in terms of price. When it came time to execute the project, the crew was extremely punctual, efficient, and highly professional. The finshed product looks great!

He was very professional and friendly. He did a thorough examination of the chimneys and showed me where the brick needed pointing. He replaced several damaged bricks and matched the mortar color exactly. Superb workmanship.

Excellent performance. Crews arrived, performed contracted work in a very professional manner and cleared the area every day before leaving. The job was completed on schedule at the contracted price. In addition to the work crew, the office manager was readily available for any questions. We will definitely use this contractor again.

We met with David their designer/estimator, to go over the job and budget requirements. Within a couple of days David provided us with a plan and pricing to review. We decided to go ahead with the project and paperwork was completed. We were delayed a few days due to rainy weather, no fault of Kings Masons, and then our job was scheduled. When the weather finally permitted work to begin the construction portion of the job was completed in just one day. Erwin, the master Mason guided his crew professionally and with great care to our surrounding property and flower beds. He then returned 5 days later to acid wash the stone steps to complete the job. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for quality work at a reasonable price.

The work started on time and began with the removal of the retaining old retaining wall. Once that was done work immediately began on the new retaining wall. The new wall is so solidly built and attractive that I wish it faced the front of the house rather than the back. Once that was done the walkway was removed and work began on the new walkway. The new walkway was made with pavers we selected from choices they provided. The design and installation are absolutely first rate. We did have a little trouble with water flow after the first major rain and the King's Mason came back immediately to improve the situation - all work and materials were done at no cost to us. My wife and I are very proud of all the new work that Richard and his men have done for us. While they are not inexpensive, there work is absolutely first rate.

I found this company on Angie's list. They were highly rated and I was impressed with the projects that they had previously done for other homeowners. I made an appointment and met the owner of the company at my house. I explained what I had in mind and he suggested two alternative designs for an upgraded walkway. I am not the type of person that can visualize significant changes. Therefore, I had the company provide me with a drawing of both proposals. I also had them mock-up the proposal for a curved walkway in my front yard. In the end, I went with the proposal for a curved walkway. The company provided me with several samples of brick so that I could determine which color would be appropriate for my house. The owner of the company made himself available when I had questions and was helpful in providing me with the information that I needed to make the right choices. It took me several weeks to get approval from my homeowners association. The company provided me the drawings that I needed for that process. The work had been quoted for the period between January and February. I received a discount for having the work done during that time period. Once I received approval for the project from my homeowner's association, I scheduled the work. The company arrived on the scheduled start date with an army to start the project. After the demolition was completed, the primary crew stayed behind to construct the new walkway, and cover the landing, stairs and front porch with brick. The project was completed in a timely manner. When they were constructing the walkway, I was working from home because I had surgery on my foot and was on crutches. As a result, I got to watch the project from start to finish. The team that executed the project were skilled craftsman that took pride in their work. They completed the job during the scheduled period and answered the questions that I peppered them with on a daily basis. They kept the job site clean and kept us informed. The most import ant part of the project was the end result. The completed product was exceptional. It is the envy of the neighborhood. I would not hesitate to hire them again.

We had a great experience with Kings Masons! This was very refreshing after dealing with 2 inexperienced contractors. We found them on a Washingtonian list and Richard came out and gave us a quote. It was slightly higher than other quotes we got but the company's reputation was excellent and they had done a significant amount of work in area that was high quality. They paid very close attention to detail and made every effort to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. Even where there was miscommunication and they started going in one direction, they immediately fixed the problem when I pointed it out. They also offered some new ideas that worked well with our initial plans. Recently I found some minor issues and they are coming back to fix them at no additional cost. I plan to use them for future projects.

The team did a fantastic job! They were always on time, they respected our home, cleaned up every day and were very polite/commodating. Probably the best crew that we have had from any renovation (kitchen, bathroom, etc). If they said they would be there at 8, they were ringing the doorbell at 8:00...not 7:50 or 8:20. The coordinator/GC (Mark) was always available by cell and was on site most days. When there was an imperfection in the mantle on the last day, they replaced it without any hassle. Great group and am looking for more projects to use them on.

Very professional from start to finish.

The work was done on time and with no surprise charges. We spoke only briefly to the crew leader, but he was responsive and answered all our questions. We were very satisfied with the work.

This firm was recommended by our garden designer a year or two after we bought the house in 2002. The step in front of the main entry door was too narrow. The area was at the top of a flight of concrete steps so standing on a narrow step as a guest or as the owner trying to unlock the door was uncomfortable, especially in the winter. With our input, they redesigned this area and did the installation.

This was a small repair job. It was performed well and completed on time.

The office staff kept us apprised of the expected start date and coordinated the delivery of materials and equipment. The foreman was very professional and the workmen arrived promptly each day and worked a full day until the project was completed. They were good at taking into account our needs regarding access to the driveway when necessary. The project was completed within 3 weeks as promised. We are very pleased with the results!

Lanelle Kyle deserves high praise for recommending designs, material, color, style and the overall layout for my 55 foot brick walkway, steps and stoop. She made time for meeting with me despite my having to work late some evenings, and she answered all questions professionally and eagerly. She lugged bricks back and forth to make sure i was satisfied and left no detail uncovered. Customer rapport is definitely her specialty. Because she represented my initial impression of the King's Masons she became the standard for my expectations of the entire team, and my expectations were more than met! The job was executed professionally from beginning to end from the preparation, color coordination, cement pouring, landscaping and final product. Oscar -- the project lead -- and his team arrived on time, got the job done with little disturbance to the surrounding areas and left the front of my home in perfect condition. I requested estimates from other companies -- some did not show, some seemed very disinterested, some left the estimate on the back of a business card. But TKM provided a detailed estimate of cost and material and worked with me to alter design specs. It additionally provided me local addresses where i could see their actual work. All in all I would highly recommend the King's Masons to anyone who wants top quality work. In terms of price, they were well within the range of other estimates. When you add that to the superior customer service, however, they score well above and beyond competitors. Given the many complements I've had on my walkway I'd say that TKM is worth every dollar!
