Description of Work: We first used The King’s Masons 25 years ago and just finished our third job with them. Owner Richard Baker is the best in the business. He is thoughtful, responsive, and his designs are always appropriate and spot-on. Foreman Erwin has been with Richard and The King’s Masons for over 25 years, which is an eternity in that business, and his attention to detail and superior masonry skills have stood the test of time. Office manager Mimi is top notch and would reach out to us, without our calling, to give updates on timing, schedules, and other miscellaneous things. Wish more businesses operated like The King’s Masons.

This was the first time I had ever hired a contractor to do any work, so I want to highlight the exceptional areas from start to finish. Accessibility - the office manager(Mimi) was very responsive to any request/questions with prompt & polite responses. The owner(Richard) was always available to answer those extra questions. Consultation listening skills - Richard listened to my problem/project in full before offering any suggestions, which gave him a great understanding of what I was looking for. Options - I was given options and advice on the design of the project. Price - Estimate was accurate & pricing was very reasonable. Project management - the coordination with his crew, along with another company's crew made the timing of the project run smoothly and it went according to plan. All was finished on time. Work crew - they were very courteous, hard working(even in 100 degree weather!) & the cleanup was excellent. No hassle - the only thing I really had to do during the whole process was to write the check. It can't get easier than that, especially for a super busy person..like me! Results - the end result was above and beyond my expectations.
Description of Work: The services performed fixed a long standing basement flooding problem. I had no idea what would fix the problem so I needed advice just as much as I needed the work done. After The King's Mason's consultation, we had defined the problem, solution & the project. Problem: During rain storms, a deluge of water would run down the basement stairwell & seep under the door to flood the basement. The drain, nor the sump pump could keep up with the water. Solution: During the consultation, they saw where the 3 areas the water was coming from & came up with a solution. Project:: 1)Outside basement stairwell - They repaired cracks in the stairwell so ground/puddled water would not seep through. They also painted the stairwell with masonry paint & built a new hand rail & guard rail, which were both rotted. 2)Roof extension - built a roof extension so rain water would not fall into the stairwell during storms. They also filed the permit with the county. 3)Graded the back yard - they measured & graded the back yard so storm water would run away from the house, rather than towards it. The great part of the services performed were that it was a masonry, carpentry & landscaping job all wrapped into one & that The King's Mason could do it all!

+ 0 moreAbout 6 months after the completion of the job, we noticed that one of the pieces of flagstone had developed some pitting, and we were concerned about whether the problem would get progressively worse. We contacted Kings Mason to let them know. They offered to come out to look at the flagstone. When they came, they agreed that there was a defect in the piece, and volunteered to replace it, which they did at no cost to us. The repair work was done so well that you cannot tell it has been repaired. We were delighted that they handled this warranty issue so easily.
Description of Work: This is a followup to our review of August 16, 2011. Kings Masons inspected a faulty piece of flagstone over six months after the job was completed, determined it was defective, and replaced it.

Our designer was extremely helpful in making sure we used the right stone to match our current walkway and stone fireplace. He brought actual samples to show us. Our project took one week to complete, several days ahead of schedule. The crew was here every day from 7 AM to 3-4PM. Diligent, hardworking, organized, and meticulous are words that describe the workers employed at The Kings Masons. We love our new stone wall and walkway!

The job was done when promised and the price was very fair. Other people who had come out to look at the job had only bad news and the fixes discussed were overwhelming. Mr. Baker was very focused and the work performed definitely looks great. I would use them again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: We had a precast sill on the exterior of our home which needed to be replaced and 2 other small repairs on the outside of the house.

+ -1 moreThey were prompt and finished on time. The workmanship was superior. It goes without saying. They did excellent work and left the place extremely neat. They don't do landscaping. Sometimes there are things that don't match up, but with this company it sure does. The project is finished, but there are still some small parts that are being done by different workmen. They are scheduled for sometime this week.

+ -1 moreThis job was fairly straightforward - re-grouting a large slate deck. This required removing the old grout, cleaning the surfaces and matching the old grout before re-grouting. The King's Masons were here promptly at 7AM and the whole job took 7 hours. This is a messy job that generates a lot of dust and of course working with water and mortar. The only access to this deck is through my house. When they were finished, the house, the deck and the area below the deck were immaculate. In terms of the work, you can't tell where the repairs were made. The grout was a perfect match and the workmanship excellent. In sum, they were fast, thorough, and totally professional. I probably could have found someone to do the job a little cheaper, but certainly not better. You get what you pay for with these folks. No drama, no issues, just excellent work.

The mason said that the block was fine and that a carpenter who works with Steel Door installations should have no problem replacing the door. Mimi, the contact in the office was very kind and generous with her time and explanations. Thank you for a great experience!
Description of Work: We had someone out to look at a problem area on our church building involving a block wall which had severe water seepage over several years causing a steel door frame to rust out. We were told by one carpenter who came out to quote the project that the block would have to be repaired in order to replace the door.

+ 0 moreWe couldn't have asked for a better experience. They worked closely with us on the design, and did their best to adapt it to our needs. They were easy to work with. Although the start-date was delayed by two weeks due to weather, once they started, they completed the project in less time than they had estimated. The crews were well staffed, so the work went quickly and efficiently. They coordinated well with the subcontractors (asphalt pavers and wrought iron fabricator) as well as the landscape designer and the electrician whom we hired independently. We were especially happy at their ability to match the new brick with the 70-year old brick on our house.
Description of Work: We completely redid our front yard, ripping out old walkways, driveway, steps and landing. King's Masons obtained permits and made drawings for all the work. They demolished the front walk, porch and steps, and built newly designed ones using brick and both patterned and one-piece flagstone. They removed old retaining walls alongside the driveway and built a new one. They also built a low brick column for a light at the front of the walkway. They subcontracted the installation of a new wider asphalt driveway, and custom made wrought iron railings for the landing and the steps. They installed underground draining pipes to the downspouts. They built a wooden storage area adjacent to the new driveway for garbage containers. They provided dumpsters, and hauled away all debris on a regular basis.

We did not get any other bid from other companies for that specific project. They were easy to work with. They were prompt and they got back to us. They were fine. They had worked for us few years back so that is why we went back to them. We would consider having this company to provide another quote in the future.

+ -1 moreI would give them an excellent recommendation, they are fabulous. Their owner comes out to every job to walk the job. They also have a foreman that is on site that is fabulous. They are very communicative, let you know what's going on and keep the job site clean while they are working. They couldn't improve on anything, I can't say enough good things about them. They are not the cheapest in town, but I can tell you you will get what you pay for. If you're looking for good quality then they are worth the money. I would definitely recommend them.

When I saw the concrete steps and porch at the end of the first day, I couldn't believe it was my house -- Everything was perfectly matched to the house stone and, to give it the appearance that the work was original to the house, TKM flamed the edges of all the blue stone and acid-washed the finished work. IT IS BEAUTIFUL!! This is a company of artisans and top-notch professionals. EVERYONE is superb and the work happens according to plan. Mimi, Richard, and Mark keep you informed every step of the way. The work of the masons was superb and the work area was cleaned up at the end of each day. If you want FIRST-CLASS work, you want The King's Mason -- this company does what they say; when they say they will do; and how they say they will do it!!! They earned and deserve a FIVE STAR rating!!!
Description of Work: The King's Masons (TKM) provided us with several services: (1) A landscape/patio design that included hardscaping; (2) finishing the concrete steps and front porch with flagstone on the risers and sides of the porch/steps and Pa blue stone on all horizontal surfaces and (3) a plan/design for edging two large beds with trees and plants with boulders.
