Description of Work: I used McCarthy to perform our annual HOA required HVAC inspection. I found them through an Angie's List Big Deal. McCarthy Services contacted me proactively to set up a time for the appointment. Their service professional showed up on time. He was quick, thorough, and professional. I'd have no issues whatsoever recommending them based on my experience.

Description of Work: We purchased a deal, not realizing they don't service in Maryland They did someone to look at my H2O heater, and a faucet and charged a fee for coming w/o using the deal. When I called about the deal, they would not come to do the work. I had to have the deal cancelled. Would have been nice if it said it on the deal.

The techs installed old / used parts; every visit was used as an opportunity to sell additional parts that were not needed. We eventually got someone else with a high reputation to come in and assess the situation, and learned / confirmed the above. Therefore, we switched providers.

Description of Work: Inspected a leaking kitchen faucet and repaired it. Took apart a non-functioning shower valve and recommended replacement. Reviewed propane connection for outdoor grill; gave estimate for recommended repair work for a future date.

Description of Work: Kitchen sink was backing up and not draining correctly. Plumber snaked the drain. No problems since. He was here about 30 minutes. Plumber was very nice. This may be the going rate around here for a plumber which is why I gave them a C and not an F, but I felt it was way too much. Will call a handyman first next time.

Description of Work: Requested service to install auto shut off valve and drip pan for water heater as a requirement of the condo association. Upon review of the age of the appliance found that it was over 15 years old. Life expectancy is around 10 years. McCarthy's has water heaters in stock and the serviceman was able to install immediately. I was very pleased with the service.

Description of Work: A/C inspection. They inspected our AC unit indoor and outdoor. The company representative identified a potential problem and offered to replace part. He was very friendly and professional and did the service thoroughly.

Description of Work: I took advantage of an Angie's List deal to have a new kitchen faucet installed. Although the plumber (James) did a good job, I felt his main purpose for being there was to sell me a service plan. |Upon arrival, James told me that the deal included a free home plumbing inspection. I said ok, but my time was limited and what I really wanted was to get the faucet installed. I told him that it was my only day to clean & prepare for overnight house guests and a baby shower at my house. The home inspection took a while & didn't result in anything significant. Then he told me the pricing for the faucet installation and a service agreement. The price was way more than I expected. I didn't really want a service contract, but agreed to it because it discounted the installation price a little. Although James did a good job installing the faucet, we ran into problems when it turned out to be defective. I called the manufacturer's help line & James talked to them & tried his best to get it working correctly, but no luck. Although, the defective faucet was not the fault of the plumber, I was frustrated that I spent so much money for installation and about 4 hours of my day and had nothing to show for it. I uninstalled & exchanged the defective faucet myself and installed a new one myself. My biggest frustration with this visit was the cost and how much time was taken up with a plumbing inspection and service contract that I really didn't want in the first place--especially since I mentioned several times that I had a busy day planned.

Description of Work: There was some misunderstanding. I thought they will replace the outside faucet that is leaking. The technician told me that he has to change pipes from the inside in order to change the faucet and it will cost much more. It ended up that he replaced part of the faucet. There was no inspection of the plumbing as it was stated in the agreement.
