We had noticed a small puddle of water by one of the feet to our water heater and called McCarthy's to check out the situation. Something came up in the morning of the day we were scheduled for our appointment and I had called to move the appointment to time in the next week since we needed to head out of town. Randy from McCarthy's called us a little while after I changed the appointment and asked if he could come over and check out the water heater since he suspected there was a leak and that could cause a huge problem for us if we waited until the following week. We managed to work out a time for him to come over and sure enough, the water heater needed to be replaced. Given our compressed time frame, Randy returned a couple of hours later with a new water heater, and just before then, his partner Tyrone arrived to start the job of emptying out the water line. The two did the water heater replacement in just a few hours and also replaced some old, corroded water valves, as well as a gas valve that they said was faulty. During the install, we were in the midst of Tropical Storm Lee, which dropped over a foot of rain in my neighborhood. At one point during the install, flood water began to creep into the basement. The two men quickly helped clean up the water and even put down some hydraulic cement to where they thought the water was coming in from. Although our basement flooded much worse later in the evening after the men left, I appreciated their help and professionalism throughout the installation. The work area was left spotless and Randy explained the features of the new water heater and some basic homeowner functions. After the installation was complete, we noticed a knocking sound coming from the closet that housed our water meter and the master water shut-off, which Randy replaced. We called McCarthy's soon thereafter to have them come out again and check on the work performed with the shut-off. Russell came by the house and did some pressure tests. He determined the problem was with the water meter. We had the water company replace the meter and the problem was solved. McCarthy's did not charge for the follow-up visit and I was pleased with the quick diagnosis.

While I appreciate good service, my issue was with the price. He stated this was a "standard job" and thus had a standard fee of $350. Given he was at my home for less than an hour, but adding something for travel time, I found this to be a simply outrageous fee. Given there fee structure, I will be looking for a new Plumbing Contractor next time I need service.

The owner has integrity and they stand behind their work. Their specialty is selling train heating and cooling systems

Their estimate was high. The guy who came seemed like he was in a hurry. The guy who came out was very professional. My system actually broke down and it was very hot. He fixed that and didn’t charge us. He was very good. He was very friendly and nice. He was very informative. I was very impressed. I would use them in the future.

They are good. My house is built in '52, the valve for turning off the faucets inside was leaking really bad. The plumber provided me with two options, one that was a lot less expensive and one for new work. I chose the less expensive and haven't had a problem since. Their prices are reasonable. With the electrical they had to fix my ground - it was grounded to the gas pipe. They are very informative and explain what they doing and why.

Came back from a weekend away to find I had no AC. Came out very quickly with a temporary fix. Then returned with the part the next day.

In spite of having spent a lot of time with me and having an opportunity to upsell me needless services, once he learned that I had a home warranty service, he recommended that I simply call the home warranty company. Resisting the urge to make the money himself and do the thing that was right for me earns him a lot of point for me.

Problem with this company and most other HVAC companies is that they send the "salesman" to perform the check. All they seem interested in doing is telling you what's wrong, what new products you need, and bad-mouthing the company that installed the items and saying they didn't do it right, put the wrong size in, etc. etc. This guy say the whole system should be replaced and we needed all these additional items, with total cost coming to almost $10,000.

Caused overflow of my system and damage to my wood floors which had to be replaced. Couldn't correctly diagnose the problem (that they created) and recommended an expensive and unecessary repair. See above

Andy seemed very professional and knowledgeable . We would use this company again for any electrical problems or installations we might have. We would also request Andy as the electrician to some to our home.

They were quick and efficient. They didn't leave any mess.

Dan visited my home and accessed my current HVAC situation. He discussed a variety of options but ultimately made a recommendation on how to move forward and provided a detailed quote. He mentioned a few items that he felt were optional, and did not try to pressure or upsell me. We were able to quickly schedule an install and the gentlemen performing the install were neat, courteous and professional.

Great service and wonderful people. Highly recommend.

We have a contract with them. They are pretty thorough and we like the products they offer. They put booties on when they are in the house and they are pretty good about staying clean. They seemed pretty knowledgeable about the products they sold us and installed. They replaced our heating system. We will continue to use them.

McCarthy Services staff were consistently courteous, prompt, professional and informative, and they AC system is now working well. I really do not have a reliable comparator for pricing, but I believe their pricing was fair (note that the cost cited above was only for replacing the coolant line, which was the most recent and final step in replacing the original AC system). I would strongly recommend McCarthy Services for HVAC work, and I have for the past two years maintained service contracts with them.

The job worked out really well and we are very pleased. It is still working well. I liked his follow up; there was a little item that wasn’t quite right and he came out within a day or two to do the repair when we told them about it. I would recommend him because he is economical, he knows his job, and he gets the job done with a minimum amount of fuss. I think you can get things done for cheaper. One worker tried to take a shortcut so their professionalism is not perfect.

They had a good explanation of how the heating system works. They were very professional, and I haven't had any problems at all.

This company is very professional, very straightforward and very competent. I would recommend them to anyone with HVAC work to be done.

Called for replacement of two PTAC AC/heaters. The estimator was punctual and did not take him long to figure out the model etc. He said it was a very easy job. They provided an estimate the following day, asking for a very high price. I knew the cost of the unit, and the estimator said it was a quick thing... But they were still asking a lot of money for no reason. I asked the cost per item (labor vs parts) and never received a response.

From estimator to installation all went very well. Their price included maintenance contract.

Estimate of costs was provided in a timely fashion and with sufficient detail to allow comparison with other estimates by competitors. Technicians arrived exactly as scheduled to remove/replace the old system and all work was accomplished in one day. Workers were careful to clean up after work was completed. A week or so after the job was completed we experienced a problem with one of the newly instaloled fan units. McCarthy responded the next day and replaced the faulty component. My one complaint was the paucity of detailed explanation regarding required owner maintenance (filter cleaning, etc) and operating instructions for the on-lina ehumidifier, thermostat controls, etc.

Excellent job! They came by and gave me three estimates, all of which qualified for the tax break. Arrived promptly. The job took about five hours, including showing me how to run the new system. The new system is much, much better than the old one- quieter, much more energy efficient, and cools the house more quickly. I had a couple of questions after the install and they've taken very good care of me.

Overall experience was great! Finally found a contractor that I was 100% pleased with. Called them Monday, came out Tuesday afternoon when they called 1 hour before as requested. Gave an estimate and a time it would take (1 hour). Was right on for both. Showed some ways that I could save money in the future, explained what he was doing and what he did thoroughly. Very professional. Great experience!

That morning when I came downstairs our whole first floor had flooded. The water heater release valve had gone off, and water was pouring from the water heater. I called McCarthy (waited til the regular hours so we didn't have to pay emergency prices). They were able to schedule me for an appointment later that afternoon (it was a Monday). When the technician arrived he said the temperature valve was bad. He estimated a cost to repair it, which a little more than half the cost to replace it. Since we live close to their offices, he went check and see if they had any of the smaller size (which our small town house requires) in stock. He returned in about 15 minutes with it. This gave me time to discuss the decision to replace with my husband by phone. Upon the technician's return, he confirmed he had brought a unit with him, and discussed details about availability of other models, cost savings, and efficiency before installing. He worked quickly and efficiently to install the unit, and was done in about 60 minutes. He tested the water, and cleaned up very well. I was very satisfied with this experience.
