On Friday afternoon at the end of a week long heat wave, I realized my A/C was not working. I attempted to call McCarthy 3 times between 3:30 and 4:00pm and there was no answer. The phone just rang and rang. I then called Brennans and they answered, Dave came that evening, and my A/C was fixed! Yeah! McCarthy guys were always trying to sell me something which gets tiresome. I would not recommend McCarthy.

As always, McCarthy Services arrived on time. They normally give you a 4 hour window but usual arrive within one hour of the scheduled window (i.e. 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and they arrived at 11:00 am). McCarthy always calls to let you know the technician is on the way. The technician was super professional and very pleasant. He entered my house and immediately put covers over his shoes, which is nice when you have light carpeting. He performed the Fall maintenance and let me know there were no issues. I have a dehumdifer, he changed the filter and saved the label so I could order more filters for the future...I did not ask him to do this so the extra effort was greatly appreciated. My experience with McCarthy Services has always been fantistic.

Leaky faucet turned out to be stripped inside. Parts to replace the handle and stem aren't available anymore. New faucet is needed so nothing could be installed. T ech was helpful and assessed the situation correctly it seemed. Since the coupon/deal was for two hours of labor he tried to give us his time and fulfill the coupon requirements. Very nice of him. Unfortunately there wasn't anything else that needed his attention, but he offered and tried.

It turned out very nice. There was additional cost because it required materials and some additional work. They are kind of expensive. I would use them again in the future.

They were fine. They fixed all three and they charged me an extra $129. I thought they were expensive for what they did. I can't say that there was anything superb, and there wasn't anything bad. I would call them again. I didn't have any issues with them, but I didn't have them do anything really demanding. It was routine stuff.

The serviceman was punctual and courteous. However, a mistake was made that damaged the pump instead of repairing it. The pump appeared to work for a day but then stoppped. When I exmined the pump and called the manufacturer I found that the serviceman put a greasy lubricant in the pump which was designed to be water lubricated with no other lubricant. I had to get a replacement pump at my cost. I then chose to find someone else to install the replacement pump. The provider refused to refund the cost of service even though they left the situation worse than when they arrived.

Randall was very nice. We told him we had a problem with one bathroom sink and one toilet. He confirmed that something was in our toilet. We had renters for two years and do not know what they put down there. He advised of the cost for the repair of the sink and the toilet, but decided to wait. He advised us that the dishwasher drain was not being used and explained to us where it was connected. He found some old standing water that was causing a smell underneath our kitchen sink. We noticed a bad smell every couple of days and kept putting baking soda down the drain. Randall drained the water and advised we would not have the bad smell in the kitchen sink. He was correct. The smell is gone.

Professional, hardworking, and did a good job. I would use them again.

We purchased an Angie's List deal for drain cleaning. Randall came out and quickly went to work snaking the drain, and was able to clear it with no problems. The deal also included a video inspection of pipes where access allows, but I'm not sure if that was done. I asked him to look for the access where he would expect to find it and to do the inspection if possible, but he never told me whether or not he was able to do it. He did spend a lot of time doing a complimentary whole house plumbing inspection inside though, and made a few recommendations.

They called me to ask if they could show up early, which was great. He got right to work & snaked out an old rag 40 feet down the kitchen sink! No mess. In & out in about an hour. I bought their $77 deal, so the price was right.

I was not really happy with it. The person who came was very tired. He came at about five o'clock in the afternoon, because he had some problems at a previous job. I wanted them to install a faucet and he said because it was an odd kind of faucet, that it was a job that would take three of four hours, which he couldn't do. So he did end up doing an alternative job, which was just to replace an outside faucet. I was just disappointed in the fact that he came so late. The appointment was for late morning, because we thought it would help the guy avoid traffic. I will never do that again. I will always book the first appointment in the morning. I think part of the reason he didn't do job, was because he was just wiped out.

The plumber came to the house because of an Angie's List Deal. It was supposed to be $89 (at least that's how I read it). When the guy took a look at what I had, he said that the Angie's List Deal didn't cover this. I then asked for an estimate of what it would cost to replace the laundry tub and faucet with the new one I had. He came back with a "special" deal. Original price to do the work would be around $1,600 but he was willing to do it for around $800. I found the price a bit hard to take and declined the offer. Later, I called another plumber (Star Plumbing) and asked how much it would be to do this job. They said they would charge me $250 plus whatever parts were needed to complete the work. Mark from Star Plumbing came by this morning, as promised, and did a great job.

Technician was very punctual, professional and efficient.

The plumber came on time and first replaced the drain hardware in the sink. He tried to clean the corrosion in the feeder pipes but found that they were too corroded to fix and had to be replaced. This was done immediately and I was pleased with the job. I gave them a B on price since I didn't get competing bids for this small job and had a coupon.

Once we worked out the pricing, using the Big Deal discount, all wnet fine. The technician was not aware as to how the discount worked.

We purchased a Big Deal for $89; I called first to ask whether it could be applied to a hose bib replacement and they said it would cover the labor on one of the two hose bibs. We were able to schedule an appointment the following day. The technician arrived punctually, covered his feet without being asked, and quickly replaced the front hose bib with a modern bib without incident. For our rear hose bib, the pipe was not accessible from the interior so the technician asked if we wanted him to cut an access panel into our wall. He said he could try to replace the bib without the access panel, but it would probably not seal correctly or permanently. We agreed to the access panel and he cut an 8'' x 8'' square out of the basement wall that is easily covered by the spring-loaded panel cover he suggested we purchase from a local store. He completed the repair quickly and even solved a drain clog in the master bath while he was here. What's more--even with the extra work of the panel, he charged us a very reasonable fee, in my view, and did not charge for the drain clearing. We would definitely use McCarthy again.

It took longer than expected becasue the technician locked his keys in his car. He also only clean the drain he didn't do the free video inspection he seemed to focused on trying to sell me on the second drain clean.

New faucet installation went smoothly. Three items turned up during plumbing inspection with one addressed during visit - the washing machine hoses which were in danger of bursting. One of the other two items, the pressure reducing valve was replaced by another firm through home warranty. The third item, the house supply valve, turned out not to be faulty. Work performed well. Only complaint is cost. The $89 charge for the washing machine hoses seemed high as did the $69 cost for the supply lines for the replacement faucet. (The total $247 cost includes the $89 Angie's List "Big Deal" coupon.) This perception undoubtedly reflects some ignorance on the member's part regarding prevailing regional plumbing pricing. We appreciated identifying the potential problems posed by the failed pressure reducing valve and the washing machine hoses. However, the misdiagnosis regarding the main house supply valve and the overall impression that we were being "marketed" through the "complimentary" whole house plumbing inspection left some lingering doubts.

I was concerned that perhaps there was something wrong with two of the three toilets in the house due to frequent back-ups and problems flushing. I purchased this Big Deal to get a diagnosis on our toilet problems. Within minutes, the technicians realized that the problems were due to the toilets' age and not due to problems with the plumbing or pipes. They surmised that we would continue to have some issues with these toilets until they were replaced, which they recommended. Aware of what I had spent for this service call, they did snake both toilets and offered to replace some of the worn/faulty hardware in the flushing mechanisms to make flushing go a bit smoother. In the end, I think they saved both me and the homeowners quite a bit of money for unneeded diagnistics and repairs.

The plumber that came out was great...he informed me of the problem and had me take out the drywall myself in order to save money on the job. He installed a new main water shutoff valve. However, the only issue I had was that the Angie's list deal was $99 for up to 2 hours of plumbing involving a single repair. After I purchased the big deal and the plumber was scheduled to come to fix the problem for me, the manager called me to inform me that there would be an additional $90 fee for soldering. This was not advertised in the angie's list deal and I can't believe that if a deal lists a plumbing repair in the job description that they would charge an additional $90 fee to solder when it is part of the job. Nonetheless I had to pay the additional fee because I needed the job done and I wasn't about to cancel and call a new plumber.

We had purchased a big deal for the service, and it was great. There were additional charges, because I had them do additional work. The experience was very positive, the gentlemen work well together as a team. The lead technician was very good, and the assistant was also very good, and I would recommend them.

We recently used McCarthy Services to fix our kitchen sink/disposal. I called five plumbers first thing in the morning, and McCarthy was the only one available for same day service (the others could put us on the schedule 1-3 days later). With a plumbing issue, same day service was a high priority for us. Their flat rate for a house call was also amongst the lowest. The receptionist who booked the appointment was friendly, and within an hour I received another call that they were on the way to the house. And less than 20 minutes after that call, the plumbers arrived. They were professional and friendly. They immediately put on shoe coverings upon entering the house and quickly assessed the problem. They were happy to explain in detail the options we had for repair and were even open to negotiating the price a bit. In order to install a new garbage disposal, they had to empty the contents from the cabinet below the sink. After they left, I was pleasantly surprised when I looked under the sink and found they had left it even more organized than they found it. The sink drains properly again and the new garbage disposal works wonderfully. I would highly recommend McCarthy Services for your plumbing needs.

Inspection went well, system operation was verified

I purchased the big deal coupon for this service. The guy was great. It cost me more than I wanted it to but he did a great job. He was very professional and I was very happy. He showed up when he said he would and he called before he got there. He kept his shoes clean. He did the job well and cleaned up when he was done. It was in good shape. I thought his price was kind of high but then I don’t know if that’s comparable or not. I’m not sure if it was fair or not. I was kind of not happy having to spend so much of money but I don’t know if that’s the going rate or not. The quality of work, his responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism were all excellent.
