Administrative staff, salespersons, and technicians were responsive, timely, and professional. The salesperson explained the pro/cons of different size units and was responsive to follow-up questions and phone calls prior to and subsequent to the installation. The installed unit required replacement, which was a little disconcerting since it was new; however, McCarthy replaced the entire unit (not merely a component).

Sales person was great. After intsall completed looked outside and unit was mounted to original stand that did not fit new unit and found that the unit wasn't attached in any way. Called sales person who took care of it and had them come back and install new base. Despite this, the following year asked them to come in and quote to replace my other HVAC. Original sales person had left but they schedules someone to come out but they never showed or called. I was ready to write a check and they blew it. Then time came for my seasonal service that was thrown in with the first unit that was replaced. They called to schedule but then the tech never showed and they never called. After a week I called and rescheduled the service and this time received a call that day that the tech was in route.. but again never showed. I am not waiting for the third time. Once the complimentary term is over I'll be looking for a replacement company. UPDATE 9-13-17 McCarthy did finally show and do their maintenance inspection but it was very quick. Today only 2 weeks later we turned on our a/c for the first time in a few days (it was off due to cooler weather) and the house wouldn't cool down. I noticed no airflow from the vents so I called another company to come take a look. I mentioned a company had done a service check on it a few weeks before but they noticed none of the screws seems to have been opened in some time because of dirt buildup. They also saw water issues and after opening up the coil area there was a lot of ice, dirt and mold residue that didn't just appear in the past 2 weeks. It was obvious the guy didn't look at anything while he was here. The tech that was here today mentioned that McCarthy was purchased since I bought my upstairs unit from them and likely the reason for the poor customer service and quality of service since that original purchase.

I get them originally through Angie's List and now I just use them all the time. They've been very good. I have a contract with them now, so it's a monthly thing, so they don't charge me for showing up.

The main problem I had was with the pricing. I feel as though (but can't prove it) that I was tag-teamed by the salesperson (Markus) at my house and his manager over the phone. They made it seem like a great deal at the time, but after doing more research on furnace prices, I found out it was only an average price or actually on the expensive side, which makes me very sad. I blame myself for not researching more on prices before going with them, or trying to negotiate a better deal. Still, I have the feeling I got ripped off. The actual installation seemed to go fine. The technicians were prompt and installed my furnace without a hitch. I haven't been able to really test it out because it's still summer, but in theory, it is working fine.

I think it was probably work on one of the toilets, but I can't remember. They're reasonable. They are timely and effective. I can't recall any problems with work they have done. They are good. One of the employees is a neighbor and is very friendly. My wife and I both like them. The work has been fine on the plumbing. Whatever the issues were, they haven't had to come back.

Work went fine. Price was very misleading. They did not credit us $49 like their Angie's List ad said they would. And when I complained they just gave me a $25 credit toward another service from them. I don't want more service from a company that is misleading to me. I want what I was promised.

Still waiting for a maintenance guy after 7 hrs :(
Description of Work: We had been getting HVAC repair & service done from them from many years. But now there services has gone down a lot. They are never punctual, if they give a 4 hr window, they don't show at that time and may come in 6 to 7 hrs, if you are lucky. Last time when they came for maintenance, they were out of my house in less than 15 mins and than the air conditioning broke few days after that.

The plumber indicted that the current faucet was causing the problem and indicated that the faucet needed to be replaced. The plumber indicated that the current faucet design was the primary problem. Although I thought that the current faucet could be cleaned I agreed to go ahead with the replacement just in case it was an inherent design problem. The new faucet that was put in is working fine and only time will tell if solves the problem long term. I paid $379 total for this work with the $100 off I received from purchasing from Angie's List. I estimate this is around $200 more than I would have paid for the same faucet and installation through Lowe's or Home Depot.

Not well. After paying for the service on July 10 through Angie's special pricing for plumbing service, no one called me until I asked Angie for a refund on July 18. When the technician finally arrived, my wife told him the service needed, he said he could repair the faucet but needed to get a part for the commode that he didn't have.. Based on the pricing for the faucet, and the proposed cost to repair the commode, we decided not to have the technician do anything else. I would not recommend McCarthy Services to any of my friends based on this experience.

McCarthy had serviced our A/C previously so called and asked for the same thing. This time around, they came out within the 4 hour appointment block, but refused to provide additional coolant, stating it was against company policy unless we pay $2,300 for a leak check. What?! Would have appreciated a heads up when I scheduled the service, instead they charged us a service fee to look at the unit and tell me "there may be a leak" - asked to shell out a couple grand to see if there is a leak somewhere. Also was advised that our compressor may go out at any moment and we should avoid that $4,500 cost. No thanks. Will never call them again.

The initial installation date chosen by the salesperson was not scheduled. After no one showed up, we called the main office and the scheduling coordinator was very apologetic and she guaranteed that the installation would be the following Monday. The two technicians arrived as promised. They were very professional and explained the AC installation procedures. Upon completion, they tested the new AC unit to make sure it was working properly. A couple of weeks after installation, one of the technicians had to return to make a minor adjustment in the airflow. It's been almost three months and the AC Unit seems to be working as promised.

Edwin declined to see the voucher from Angie's list when he came in saying he would deal with that later. After the trap was replaced he announced that would cost 189 dollars. He said he could not work for the money from Angie's list. I protested and he called his boss. The boss told me plumbing was expensive. Edwin said he would have to pay the boss if he honored the Angie's List offer. ?? I filled out a satisfaction survey from the plumbing company asking for a refund for the 89 dollars Edwin said he would accept...So, we have 189 dollar charge for 5-10 minute work to take the trap off and replace it. I gave up my tools when I retired so I could not do it myself. I asked for a refund from the plumbing company on the satisfaction survey but have heard nothing for 2 weeks.; I will take further action if they do not reply.
Description of Work: I needed the trap from a sink removed to retrieve a lost object down the drain. It took 5-10 minutes at the most.

McCarthy called in response. Maybe the receptionist was new? She had to call me 3 times during my work hours. The 1st call she couldn't seem to make up her mind. The 2nd was to confirm, but then I decided to change, big mistake. I thought it was set, but she still had to call again to confirm. I wasn't really sure what to expect. Thankfully I read their reviews and decided a big fat NO, so I replied to Home Depot's email to cancel 2 days before the scheduled appointment. No big surprise the guy still showed up... 2 hours early on Saturday morning, poor guy. He seemed ready to make a nice commission. Seemed a bit odd though as he did not appear to be an actual technician, hmmm.

Had AC outdoor unit fixed. Used a ~$75 - $100 capacitor and job quickly got done. Got charged for ~$500 ($89 for call charge and $350 + tax for the capacitor). Service was good but definitely would not use again.

McCarthy Service is a SCAM. DO NO USE THEM. I made an appointment with McCarthy Service for an appointment for a free estimate to replace a Garbage Disposal. The technical stated that he was never informed about a FREE ESTIMATE. Since I had a $100 coupon for labor, the Tech installed the garbage disposal. When the Tech gave me the bill, he charged me $395.00 to install the Garbage Disposal. When I complained about the price, I was told that this is what they charge for a customer provided garbage disposal with no warranty. The Tech refused to reduce the price. The going rate to install a customer's provided garbage disposal range from $50 to $75 with a maximum of $100.
Description of Work: Install a new customer provided garbage disposal. Paid Angie's List $49 for service. Angie's List provided a $100 service/labor coupon.

1st visit: The furnace technician was very knowledgeable, informative, and helpful. He replaced the igniter and water panel and gave it a good inspection. I thought the service on this visit was exceptional, so I can't say much more. I thought the price for the visit was a little high, but being a relatively new home owner, I had nothing to compare it to. 2nd visit: Since the first visit went well, I called them back to see why the water heater's pilot wouldn't stay lit. I was not at home this time, it was just my wife, but she called me at work to explain the situation. The technician briefly inspected the water heater and immediately recommended that we purchase a new one, citing the fact that the manufacturers warranty had expired and suggesting that these heaters weren't expected to last much longer than that. I have trouble believing that, and I wasn't prepared to spend $5000 on a new water heater. My wife put me on the phone with him and he began explaining the warranty/life span opinion he had. He also mentioned scaling buildup in the tank and flushing it (what does this have to do with the pilot light?!) So I specifically asked him about replacing the burner assembly or the thermocouple. He said he could, and quoted me approx. $200 or so if I remember correctly, but he kept trying to convince me to replace it instead. So, I told him I'd think about it and ended the visit with no repairs. Although the first visit went well, I haven't called them back to my house. When I need a basic repair, I'd rather avoid sitting through a high stress sales pitch. I just wanted my hot water back. And by the way, I ordered a new burner assembly for around 30 bucks and installed it myself (I also performed the tank flush myself, since it was probably overdue). This was over two years ago and I haven't had a problem since.
Description of Work: In the span of a few days we had problems with our furnace and with our water heater. The furnace wasn't heating the home properly, so we had a technician come out to give it a full service check-up and repair whatever was wrong with it. A day or so later, the water heater pilot light wouldn't stay lit, so we called them back. I'm giving a mixed review because the experience with the furnace technician was excellent, but the water heater visit did not go as well.
